I am not able to get that link to work either.
Maybe your work has a proxy server that cached the page?

mmmm!!!! *Spotted In The Wild* looking good if, it's the real thing!
Thanks for the linky!
Now, maybe it *can be found in the wild, and made tame* eh????
Cin
-
Looks nice. The specs on it must be decent enough since it is running Vista, good news.
-
Most netbbooks ive seen can run vista, if it runs it smoothly is a different matter.
-
Now for them to announce it.
-
Exactly...I think...Maybe, perhaps..the time is getting close???
*crosses fingers*

I wish they would stick newer chipsets in these things though. I am kinda disappointed with the use of the older GMA 900/950.
-
Hmm, to be honest I can't say that picture gets me too excited, but 'spotted in the wild' pictures are never as sleek as studio pics of course, but still..
I was really waiting for the 'Dell E Slim'/Inspiron 1210, but let's hear what Apple tells us on tuesday first now
-
It's not too bad to me
But hopefully the finalized specs/pics will be even better
Cin
-
It,s the i1210 , for sure.
But? you must not only see it, you must feel it to. -
Lucky you! LOL...
It looks nice...
Did you get a chance to get a *closeup* look on the keyboard, also?
Cin
-
*bump*
Anyone got any *latest and greatest* on the I12???
Cin
-
Hopefully it will be released soon!
-
After seen the new (aluminium!) Macbook and figuring out my best deal (I can get the new one for 850 euros since I'm a student at a Canadian university) it seems Dell had better come up with one hell of a deal to pursuade me...
-
You would not be considering the Inspiron 12 if you are also looking at the Macbook. You would be more interested in the Studio XPS 13 whenever it decides to show up. Hopefully soon to counter Apple.
-
Well the Dell Mini 12 is now on Dell's site
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~ck=gp&SystemID=INSPIRON1210
From
http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/15/inspiron-mini-12-pops-up-on-dells-website-its-a-done-deal-al/
Packed within the Setup Guide is a nice list of basic specifications, including your choice of an Intel Atom Z520 or Z530 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 10 / 100 Ethernet, Bluetooth / WiFi, optional WWAN, three USB 2.0 ports, VGA out, audio in / out, and a 12.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution. It'll also feature a 1.3-megapixel camera, 3- or 6-cell battery and weigh around 2.73-pounds. -
Thanks, for the information and linkys!
Oooh..ooh...This could be exciting...
It looks good!
It better have some good color choices..other than black and white!! :yes
Yes, I'm being demanding tonight.

i wonder hwy they thought to not add an optical drive to this, i think that if they did, iw ould buy it for sure.
-
Finally some action. Good to see.
Probably because it's meant as a netbook. They leave out features to keep it light and cheap. -
+ minimum of powerconsumption.
Only functionality , no performance. A netbook, that,s wat it is. -
Hurry and announce itttttt.

Is the IGP better or worse than the GMA 950?
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
It's better in at least power usage, aka less. -
More info!
Thanks.......

Too bad he left out the part on how the I1210 CCFL display will be inferior to the I910 mini's smaller LED. Less power savings, less brightness and shorter longevity of the LCD (CCFL bulb brightness diminishes over time) are all big minuses in my book...Oh well
-
I'd rather have a 12" with 1280*800 resolution, than a 9" 1024*600.
-
I'd rather have a 12" with 1280x800 resolution with LED backlight as to one with CCFL backlight
-
In this article it is mentionned that the 1GB RAM is not upgradable and that the I12 will come with Vista. Are these 2 really compatible?
From browsing through the forums, I had the impression that Vista needed at least 2GB of RAM to run OK.
Does anyone actually know how a Vista system with 1GB RAM and an Atom processor will be performance-wise? (and of course I am not asking for 3DMark scores and such, but for Office/web browsing will the performance be inside the acceptable limits or not?) -
Now that the manual is on Dell's site...I'd rather have it *officially* released, and in some good color/spec choices..so I can possibly order

What price does everyone think the Inspiron 12 will sell for? More than the Mini 9, same price or less.
I dont see why it should more expensive. The screen is larger but not using LED cuts costs, using a hard drive cuts costs, Vista adds some costs. Other than that not much difference in spec. -
In most cases they just list max is 1gb whereas you can actually insert a 2gb module. Although if the memory is soldered on then 1gb will be the max which would be not so good for vista unless its vista basic or the vista for specifically made for third world countries. -
I get the mini 9 with the first link. They might have pulled the site down tho.
-
I am 99,9% sure that the 1210 has also a memorymodele slot ,just like the 910. But i don,t no of it wil 'eat' 2gig module,s as well.
And Vista BASIC , was also installed on the 'french' i1210 i have seen, for 14 days a go. -
I'm hoping that the pricing will be appropriate for the I12!
What do guys think? $500-$600??
Here are some more linky's for the I12..pretty much the same as the other reporting net sites..but still more info!
And, don't we just love info!

A few questions:
What are the differences between Intel Atom N270 and Z530? They seem identical on paper.
What are the differences between CCFL and LED screens? Will I see a lower battery life and a thicker screen with the CCFL backlit screen? How noticeable will it be? -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
1. Wikipedia, the Z530 uses less power than the N270 and its a smaller size package.
2. See this thread of M1330 LED vs CFFL screens. -
Any idea of the retail price of these? I want something slick for my parents, just basic around-the-house usage.
-
Cin's $500-$600 guesstimate seems pretty good for the Windows versions. I'd hope that the base models would be a little less.
-
Hey Nan....I agree, it will be nice if we see something lower in pricing!
Cin
-
Whyyy Isn't It Out Yet?!?!
-
Nope...cuz Dell..like to dangle us along....
Like some peeps do!
Cin ;
-
Because Dell's a tease.
-
-
So?!!
I thought it was worth to have a separate thread for these updates, simply because it would for sure get more technical, with issues and such people might see following these updates... there are possibilities too, that some might have trouble getting in some updates, which could be kept separate in a thread like this.... and the other thread is more like a inspiron 12 fan boy thread, where, more often than not, such threads tend to take off on a tangent with random discussion and shipping status issues, mere admiration and stuff...
Anyways!!!! -
Yeah, but this is the OFFICIAL/THREAD, whether it's a bunch of 'fanboys' or not, there is some great information to be found here. You really shouldn't start a new thread when there is already one. However, with that being said, if the forums were structured differently this would be a moot point. I believe that certain popular models of laptops should have their own forum. For example, the Mini 9, the Official thread (thanks to Cin' for starting that one as well as this thread) is wonderful and has a ton of useful information, but it's a pain to navigate unless you have been following it from the start. If these more popular laptops/notebooks/netbooks had their own forum based on model number, then creating another 'technical' thread wouldn't be seen as such a bad thing and have been merged with this one. Then everybody wins and everyone is happy.
-
And hence the reason for posting a separate thread on OEM Updates, for system components, of a given model. These are purely technical information (though some might consider it to be just a news!) and I don't see any reason why it should be in a thread where things *do* go off on a tangent!!!
Anyway, whatever.... I posted this info separately *simply because* there were *many* important updates for system components belonging to the Inspiron Mini 1210... Now as you said, lets see how many take *the pain* to browse through and see this information on Page 20, compared to people seeing it right off, as soon as they enter the Inspiron And Studio Forum.
Anyway, I don't care, and its not my forum..
All that I was saying is to keep it separate since its pretty important by itself, with regards to important system components and hardware.
However, I do hope the Inspiron 12 owners, get these updates / take a look at them since many seem to be pretty important.
Cheers and good luck.
