My order has now been dispatched as of 5/9/07. Over a month before the EDD of 8/10/07. I apologise to anyone who has been waiting longer than me.

I can't seem to see any tracking info yet - how long does it take for that to come through?

 

So, mine has shipped (sorry white lid guys) and I have a service tag and want to check what screen I have - how do I do this? I've created an account but I don't see any place to check a service tag there - anybody help?

I've just ordered a T7300, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, LED Display, 4 Years Warranty, Fingerprint Reader and bluetooth off Ebay.

My one from Dell arrives tomorrow, should I return it or sell it on elsewhere?

Can Dell refund me (but I am not the original person who paid for it?)?

 

Now saying that delivery is through Walsh Western International. It says they'll phone customer to arrange delivery - anyone else know (roughly) how long after dispatch it takes them to phone to arrange delivery?

 

Stu88, no fingerprint reader or modem but I did order the builtin 3G card. I knew the fingerprint readers were causing a few delays and to be honest when I have used them at work they never seems to work that well for me. I have one on a HP tablet and just want to throw the thing across the room whenever I attempt to use it. Which is a shame as the microsoft keyboards that have fingerprint readers are great, but I have never used a dell implementation. Hope it works well for you.

lol agree on that one, if mine turns up with one without asking for it (as some customers have) i wont be impressed!! It looks much better without it imho and in reality it tends to be an unreliable gimmick.

 

Good point ... mine was one of the ones that turned up with a reader without asking for it ... it does look nicer without it but i don't think i'll be sending it back and waiting another month! It's a wonder how they managed to keep such bad track of which orders had / had not got the reader!

 

Mine arrived, lovely unit, has the right CPU, drive, screen, everything fine as far as I can tell. I did order the fingerprint scanner though and it's not on it, my account manager was out but going to call her later and see what they say.

 

bbasra - mine is exactly the same not rec'd/incomplete in to depot. Supposed to be delivered this morning but it hasn't. I even took a day off work so i would be in to sign for it as there would be no-one in otherwise.

So now Dell owe me the cost of a days holiday as well. Not happy. Trying to see if I can tomorrow off as well now.

 

@lobber, which depot is your's?

The lady said to me that it will be delivered tomorrow morning however, the order status on the website does not say this. I also called again to double check and another lady said a special note has been added to the delivery for a next dat special delivery between 8 and 10.30am.

Just hope this is true!

 

mine hasnt come and no update as to where it's been since hinckley ffs...calling now just hope it doesnt cost too much have tried 3 times already and got bored of waiting

How the heck can a parcel be scanned out of hub and dispatched and not arrive at the depot?? It's a shambles.

i agree, how can an item be scanned out of a hub and not arrive at the depot. I asked CS where is my parcel is now as it's worth a lot of money and i want to know where it is. She said to me that it's in the slough depot and i said since i work close to slough, can i pick it up in person, she said no due to security reasons. Also surely the parcel should have been scanned when it reached the slough and the status page updated if she is saying mine is now at slough.

Ok good news, mine has literally just arrived! Yay! Ok half a day too late, but better late than never. Off to go open it.

 

Lucky git! i just called home to check and mine still has not come.

 

Mine arrived today. I only ordered on 7th of August, so I'm over the moon.

 

Finally a happy owner of a shiny new red M1330

Considering my original order was cancelled under my request and a new one placed on 22/08 with an extra 2GB RAM free of charge I think they have finally got their problems sorted. I would like to think that my order was a priority with the amount of time elapsed but I really think if anyone had placed an order on that date it would probably have arrived around today too.

So all in all a two month wait, was it worth it???

well the laptop is very nice indeed, except for one flaw which is bugging me. The keyboard bulges up in the middle. I even notice it just looking at it, and typing on it I can feel it to.

I'm not sure if this is normal, or something I'll just have to get used to, or send it back for a replacement. Going to give it a couple of days and see, but my first impression of using it is that it will annoy me too much. Frustrating to wait 65 days and for there to be something wrong with it.

 

Mine has finally decided to reach the northampton depot..wow.. only took 30 hours to go an hour from hinckley

ETA is still today to.. great.. just..great.

 

I could not belive it last night.

I left my house to pop out and then i thought i had forgotten something so i turned the car around and went back home. As soon as i turned into my road, i saw a white van parked out side and someone at the door. This was at 8.45pm. So i quickly got out of the car and saw a Dell Box in the persons hand. I couldn't belive it, it was my Dell XPS. I finally received it.

Funny thing now is the Walsh Western site now says thats it still not been delivered lol. The courier was not Walsh Western but a contracted courier. What the hell is going on here, but who cares since i got my laptop.

Hey hey I received my M1330 this morning only had to wait for 30 mins

Just some inital thoughts (after using it for 3 hours)

Bad points:

- There seems to be an issue with the top left hand corner as notin by a number of people it is slightlyloose and has some play, however it i only a few mm so its not a big deal, if it comes off in the near future though it may be annoying
- Noted some "teeth" along the lid, however if no-one had pointed this out in ther threads I likely would not have noticed it for a long time, in otherword hardly noticible
- The hard drive cover, remote exprcard dostick out a few mm but again its not a big deal
- Installing my new RAM had a tight fit due to extra heatsinks and also my performnce index went from 4.5 (1gb) to 4.4 (4 (3.58gb))???
- Power connector is on left side an straight (as opposed to angled) adapter. Annoying as my workspace is dsigned fr a right hand ac input and therefore the cable bens more adding to wear
- Drive could be quieter (CDs) haven't tried writing/reading DVDs
- The wireless catcher and wireless switches could be less loose
- Fingermarks easily show

Overall I've really had to pick for faults, if my XPS is anything to go by there shouldn't be any major problems to worry about - unless you are extremly picky as I've seen some of the posters here have been.

Good points:

OK tere are many good points and I'm sure you knout them seeing as you've ordered it, however some I feels should be mentioned:

-No CPU whine or buldge in the keyboard - keyboard feels OK (still prefer that of my Toshiba though..)
- Really deserved a mention - the touchpad keys feel amazing to use, ive even forgone double tapping just to use the keys! - this is important because I do everyhin wit the touchpad, hate using mice
-Screen is very vibrant, compares to my 19 inch monitor and is clearly superior to my tshiba screen (5 yrs old) and my standard monitor

I hope that this gives a quick overview of the quality of the Ireland XPS as opposed to the Malaysian ones..

PS How do I find the type of LCD I have - my device manager just says generic monitor...

Hi, if mine said that it is AM Delivery (8AM - 12AM), and it hasn't arrived at 2PM then do you think it isn't going to turn up at all or will it be late?

I have the Crimson Red one aswell. The way the finish is, you will see some fingerprints on the unit (on the lid), but it's not as bad as the black. I wiped them off with the included headphone pouch You could always have a little cloth in your sleeve or bag with the laptop.

 

Mine's just arrived. Came via a Business Post van chap so assume Walsh Western sub contract it out? Was due for AM delivery and just made it at about 11:50am.

Everything seems to be ok so far build quality wise. Oh, but I have a fingerprint reader despite not ordering one. And I had a BSOD after opening internet explorer for the first time which wasn't ideal but I'm going to do a clean install of everything anyway so fingers crossed it was a one off. There seems to be lots of trial software and stuff I don't want anyway that needs to be got rid of.

Will have to wait until this evening to play with it properly as I have had to go back to work as I only had the morning off.

I am just about to order a XPS M1330 from dell uk.
I' ve got 2 questions:
1. How long is now the delay until delevery in UK?
2. I ve seen in some other reviews that dell in USA and Canada gives
on the accessories a small sleeve case for this laptop and a
pair of Creative earbuds. Does this happen also in UK?

I wonder what manufacturer for LED LCDs is the european factory using these days. Can anyone who received the laptop recently check? You should be able to identify them in Device Manager - check Monitors - Details tab, "Hardware Ids" value. LCD2306 is believed to be Toshiba, CMO1309 is Chi Mei Optoelectronics.

Mine came with the sleeve and a set of headphones. I'm pretty sure they are creative ones but don't quote me. Delivery still says 6 weeks on the website. I guess it depends on what spec you order as some people have got theirs delivered in under a month.

 

Yes, the earphones are Creative EP-630s.

When would it be delivered? Hard to say, some are still waiting, some got theirs quickly. All in all mine got to me in just under a month.

I checked mine last night and it's the LCD2306/Toshiba screen.

 

Jetel - Mine is the CMO1309 panel. I have to say tho I am very impressed with it.

 

Those who are waiting for the white lids I got this mail today i am not really sure what to make of it because i was told that the LCD part was due on the 1st of September before and now i am being told that it is due into today. The bit i bolded looks like that is the part for the white lid but I thought that the lids got painted in the factory? I have been told so much stuff well i am not sure if i believe any of it much anymore.

I am truly sorry for the inconveniences caused, as per the below confirmation
from the factory, the order is short of the LCD.

And the same is going to arrive today and the order would ship in 3 to 4 days.

Just had a call from Dell. They were checking the couriers had phoned to arranged delivery (which they had). Should be with me tomorrow morning. He said he'll phone on Monday morning to check everything is okay with the order - whilst I appreciate other people have had a tough time with Dell and their XPS orders, I'm (so far) relatively impressed - wasn't expecting anyone from Dell to phone to confirm the order is okay etc.

 

Hey jetel...mine was the Toshiba... looks pretty good ... i'd love to have them side by side but don't have the luxury of affording 2 to compare!

 

Fingers crossed RE that white lid email then Rach, i'm not holding my breath mind.

Firstly must say i feel for the people that have been waiting since July personally i think it is a disgrace that a company can have people waiting so long for something that is supposidly released.

However i ordered mine on the 22nd of August and it has been dispatched, i am completely shocked as it was estimated towards mid october. Whether this is dell starting to sort it out or not i cannot be sure, it is possible that i was just lucky and ordered components that they had in stock.

But with regards to whether you should order or not, the sooner you order the sooner you'd get it surely? Also it is worth ringing their sales team up as you can get some good discounts, at least 5% off.

Just a slight correction for your sig though, the graphics would be 8400M GS.

 

I have come up with a theory about people getting fingerprint readers when not ordering them.

If you look on the order acknowledgement dell sent out it states:

No Biometric Fingerprint Reader, Quantity 1

This could easily be misinterpreted and could explain why people have been getting them

I saw that on mine and I'd say you're right. I got the "free" reader ... wondering if it's cause their building them and then trying to get them out to people by just sending out whatever's available that is near the spec to try get the orders filled!
