Jeesus. Well looks like, come 30th/31st - mine will be pushed to November or something. By the time I get it I'll be so annoyed, I'd probably put a brick through the laptop.

lol, no way. If your original date is Aug 1st then im sure you'll get it by the end of August or at worst, early september.

Once things get moving in the UK you will have a better idea.

Think yourself lucky, I ordered a day before you, yet mine says 18th of August.

If people who ordered after me are getting theres before me, I will 'fusking' flip.

Has everyone with a delayed EDD experienced the delay within 48 hours of their original EDD then?? I've checked online, on the automated phone service and spoken to the senior sales associate and none have given me a delayed EDD.... yet!

Apologies if I'm just confirming old news but I've kept up with both major m1330 topics and I'm just checking that everyone's been told of the delay within 48 hours of their EDD.

I think all of this should be expected as it is first gen product.

But then communication should be adapted... You should be told from the very beginning that delays may be bigger than usual, and you should be given the right reasons for the delay and realistic deadlines. Currently it's a mess, nobody knows what's going on, nobody knows if the expected delivery date will be the right ones as everybody is being said different things: sooner than this date, this date, or even later than this date. Communication is really what is killing Dell here, not really the fact that a new model may have some problems.

Exactly. If Dell had given prior warning to all the customers whose orders have been delayed, explaining that they didn't have the stuff ready to ship etc, maybe they wouldn't have thousands of irate people without laptops on their hands.

Indeed, you simply cannot give somone a date for a month, then two days before shipping say oh wait, yeah, you need to wait another month.

Oh, i do not believe this!
I was going to be away when my m1330 was delayed scheduled to be delivered, so my dell rep asked if I had an alternative address to send it to. I gave one to him, and sorted out all of that.
I knew that it has been said that you have to cancel and reorder if you want anyhing changed, but my rep made no mention of this.
Now i speak to him today and find that exactly this has happened, without me asking for it, and now my EDD is 28th August. At which point, funnily enough, I am going to be back in my house, so there will be no need for it to be delivered somewhere else. I do not believe these reps, they are bloody useless.
I'm going to have a field day with this.

I cancelled my M1330 and made other arrangements (it arrived yesterday). It is disappointing to see that Dell has still not fixed its system for projecting the delivery dates.

I think the sales reps are being unfairly blamed because they can only tell people what their system is telling them. The real blame lies higher up the Dell organisation in Europe. The North American customers got much more honest dates at the time of ordering.

Sorry for possible confusion. It's the "other arrangements" which arrived (ordered last Thursday, delivered Tuesday): Zepto 6024W. It's not a direct replacement for the M1330 since it is a size bigger - 14.1" WXGA+ display.

Well.. here's what happened today. I emailed my sales rep and asked him "Am I guaranteed to receive the order by my initial estimated delivery date of the 1st August and he said "YES!". I don't know whether to believe this guy or not but he just kept saying "Don't worry! You'll get it on or before the 1st August". He said the large 4-5 week delay would only be applicable to new orders being placed currently. It all sounds BS to me.

I told him, no one in the UK has received one yet at least this forum has suggested it. And he was asking me "where did I hear that from?" as if I was lieing... I told him that if I expected a phone call or an email 48 hours before the original dispatch date - I would be very annoyed.

He also assured me that it was "in-production" - which again sounds BS to me and that the online order status should be ignored as it would just jump from "pre-production" to "invoice" when you receive it.

kbc, that's exactly what's happened to me. I rang on monday and I got the same answer "yes, delivery is still 31st July" but like yourself I'm full of doubt as to whether it's true or not.

The rep I spoke to said he'd call me tomorrow (thursday) with any "updates"... I'm taking that to mean "I'm going to leave it as late as I can before I definitely know your order's been delayed, and only then will I tell you"!

Well...you got the same sales rep as me? If he leaves it to the 31st and says there's a delay on my order, I will be very, very angry. He also stressed that he shipped mine on "advanced priority"... o rly?

I told him that orders placed before mine were being delayed to mid-august and told him "how can mine be guaranteed by the 1st August if that was the case?!?"

The same happened to me, the rep emailed saying everything was good to go 4 days before my original EDD, 20th July, then two days later he sent another email saying its been pushed back to the 17th of August because manufacturing had 'just' told him about a parts shortage.

I think the reps say whatever is on their screen, however unlikely they actually believe it to be.

Its worth getting angry with the rep, after my order got pushed back I sent a list of demands (two stupid ones and one feasible one) that I wanted at least one met to compensate me for the customer service I've had to endure and to stop me cancelling. I sent another email yesterday saying he had to get back to me within the next 24 hours or I'm cancelling and he came back with an offer of £100 off the order. Which was good, I'd still rather have the laptop now though

Mine was supposed to be delivered on the 23/7/2007, however, it's EDD is 15/08/2007 (BTW My Birthday).

I've been emailing my Rep for a update and compensation otherwise i'll cancel and he has called me back with an update that Dell are still waiting for the main system board and there's nothing he can do in terms of compensation. Once you recieve the laptop, call Dell Customer Care and tell them your situation and they may be able to do something.

I got the same crap, saying they can't do anything until you get the laptop, I guess by then they assume you won't bother, or it's too late to do anything.

I've got £100 compensation for the delay (although I am a small business customer) try sending a list of clear demands through to your rep saying if they don't meet at least one of them you will cancel, it might be a bit awkward if they call your bluff and you aren't actually willing to cancel though

lol sounds like a game of poker atm. It's a bit odd not being able to compensate someone and telling them to wait till they got it. Was there any specific reason for them saying this?

hmmm just got this from a dell cs after the 6th email..

"I am not sure who informed that the UK orders will not be delayed
    anymore.

To be very frank with you the orders are being delayed.

We don't have any Specific date when the shipping will start.

Hence, I am not in a position to promise any specific date.

The best I can do for you is give a 100 pounds as goodwill for the
    delay.

This also will be processed only once the system is delivered. "

I noticed earlier that the 'automated' email informing me of the delay had totally the wrong customer number! The order number however was correct, so it's not as if I got someone elses email.

It's events like these that make me question the integrity of the system... If the wrong customer number starts to get thrown around for my order, god knows what could happen.

The Dell rep I deal with is not very helpful either, he can't seem to manage basic English grammar!

OK... I knew it was coming. 1st August EDD. Today is now the 28th July, I check the online order status - it now reads:

    Order Date: 06/07/2007
    Pre-Production: Saturday, July 28, 2007
Estimated Delivery Date (on or before this date): 07/09/2007

My rep assured me it'll come on or before the original date of 1st August. So now come Monday - I'll be making an angry phone call expecting something better if the online status is accurate. My rep thought I was taking the pee when I talked about September delivery dates and almost laughed at me. They have also charged my card as well which I'm not happy about at all.

Well I asked why my card had been charged, heres the answer I got.

    Dear Matt Scott,

We usually charge our customer after 7-10 working days from the day the
    order is placed.

Unfortunately your order is on lead time.

We will contact you on Monday to discuss regarding the same.

Request you to kindly bear with us until then.

I think I may just reply with the below.

7-10 working days? well its actually 15 days, and I don't appreciate being charged for products that are not due for another 20, needless to say I will be seeking compensation for the lost interest on £912 on top of the compensation due for my time, and being lied to repeatedly.

Needless to say, at this rate the only people I will be recommending Dell to are my worst enemies.

Also please do not call me on Monday, I shall be at the cricket.

    --

Ironically I will be going to watch England Vs India...

These random delays of over a month are getting out of order... let's just hope it's a flaw with the order system (makes the new EDD the same as if you'd just ordered one?) or they are really trying to cover themselves this time. I'm hoping mine will come about mid-august. Not placing any bets though.

I am also waiting on a delivery from dell but i ordered a latitude D630(although it uses a few same parts as the 1330),it also seems to be delayed somehow with this limerick factory parts shortage,I called them up giving them hell on friday and they told me to relax because its being delivered on monday or tue at the latest although the thing that worries me is the order status is still in pre-production!
by the way im in Ireland so I should get mine around the same time as the uk customers
and it was a manager of business level 2 tech support that told me id have it in my hands on the 31st at the latest

Nah, not expecting it to for a little while yet.

If anyones interested in whats holding up their order then call UK sales on
08703533140, say to reception that you want to place a new laptop order, when you get through to a sales adviser tell them customer care has told you to call to find out what parts are delaying your order, give them your order number. They will tell you whats causing the delay.

The supposed lead times on parts associated with my system as quoted today are

    210-18158 XPS M1330 CORE 2 DUO T7700 2.40GHZ - 10 days
    230-10080 13.3" WXGA (1280X800) WHITE-LED DISPLAY - 5 days

These are the only parts delayed on my order allegedly.

I'm still in pre-production and the date has been on mon 23rd july for a week now.

My EDD is 16/8 so i'm not starting to sweat too much but I would certainly like to see things change by the end of the week.

Now that some machines are starting to filter through in the US it will be interesting to see when the first UK machines arrive.
