At least your EDD is still in August! Mine is September, now that's taking the pi$$. My order was placed on the 6th July. Still in pre-production. Emailed my rep again and got an "out-of-office" reply!

Woot, my order has gone into production according to the status web site although the date it went into production is claimed to be the 17/07 which was the day my estimated delivery got moved out a month.

My rep contacted me yesterday by email. He is now saying the laptop will be delivered early next week, and I should expect a call about delivery details next Monday.

he better not be getting my hopes up,

oh and the online tracker has gone really weird

I ordered on the 17 July. What happened was I noticed the M1330 on the Dell site was missed price with a 2.4 processor. It was only £94 to upgrade from a 1.8, So I ordered the laptop.

When my conformation came through it said that I ordered a 1.8, so the phone calls began.

The rep said to me that the 2.4 was not available for the m1330 and so I would have to cancel the order. I told her no way as I had a order confirmation slip in my hand, which confirmed the spec and the same spec was now significantly more expensive.

She then offered me a £150 discount to except the 2.2 T7500 on top of the 5% discount code, the 3% through Quidco and the fact that the laptop was significantly missed priced in the first place.

I accepted, but then about an hour later she phoned up saying that the missed pricing of the 2.4 processor was an already massive discount and that the £150 discount may not be possible, she said she would ring in 3 days time.

This is when I sent a complaint letter to dell explaining the story and from that point on all contact was through a Rep with an English accent, who arranged for me to get priority production!

Nice job Langer! I ordered 10 days before you. And still nothing, not moving, almost dead :) Yours on the way, well done! I guess xr31daisy will be mad, uhuhuhuh :)

I guess the priority settings are very important to put you in front of the queue. From my shipping date (10th of September), I guess my order has low priority.

Well, here comes a guy who's got a late order date, an early shipping date, and who visibly had some competent rep on the phone. Good for you, Langer.
But I'll gladly admit I'm jealous: I really wish that had been my experience.
Honestly risbac, aren't you jealous too ?

Edit1: Ouch, and I just saw the price too ...

Edit2: On a french forum, some guy with the exact same spec as Langer +WiFiN just got his ESD pushed back from 08/02 to 08/28

Edit3: 2 different reps told me my order would be made high priority.

Edit4: of course, I ordered from France, so I'm off-topic. But the laptops are coming from the same factory after all.

Holy merde :) Incredible price, fast shipping, who said the world is fair? Of course I'm jealous, I pay more, and I wait more. Time is money, that's what people say, I guess it's true. I paid more for the extra wait! Nice surprise :)

Now it's a race between Asus and Dell. If the V1s (I know, it's bigger, but I was initially hunting for a good 15') is available before my 1330 is shipping, Asus wins. I won't wait until the 10th of September anyway.

Thats good work man, I did the same as you, ordered with the £94 upgrade to 2.4GHz and basically got nowhere when I complained, you must have got lucky and had a Dell rep willing to help out :D

I look forward to seeing any pics/reviews.

Im sure its just a matter of time for the rest of us, fingers crossed :)

Langer - I think you owe me that machine ;-)

I noticed an error on the UK website where they had listed the 2.4GHz processor as a 2.0 GHz processor. I sent them a message suggesting they correct it (I may not have been the only one) but instead of fixing it they changed the 2.0 GHz processor row to 2.4 Ghz... i.e. they changed the wrong line.

Now I understand you have a red machine in shipping and so do I - as far as I know we are the first two reds to ship so we are in a big race to see who gets theirs first. Mine is supposed to arrive Monday - but I am hoping for tomorrow.

Well, Dell just rang to say ive 'gone into production' and that my order is going to be ready for the 17th as planned, I think he noticed my less than impressed ok :) He went on to say but its possible it will come before that, its just an estimation.

I may point out that my order is for a white 1330, which could make a difference.

I also ordered a 2.4 but got told there was a technical issue with the laptop.... not a price issue. So Dell cancelled my order and forced me to reorder with a 2.2 Ghz T7500.

When you say you wrote a letter - did you write a letter or an Email?

How would you advise me to continue in order to achieve something like you did and to get the msot of out Dell ?

    Hi guys,
Ive just joined in this thread, since the other massive one (which i have been on since day 1 is just toooo big lol)
My details are in my sig.
Ive had looooads of calls from reps and e-mails, so im full aware of whats been happening.
Basically they ran out of glass in the iteland manufactur site (This is where all the DELL stuff is made for the UK)
The glass was ordered and was due in for the 27th July, but actually came in today.
Therefore they can now start building and we should have them within the next week.

HAs anyone from UK got theires yet, if so what spec?

500 screens were ready on the launch date and there were 4000 orderes im told from the manager, so they ran out on the 1st day lol.

If anyone needs mroe info please ask me to ask the manager (He now calls me everyday at 6pm to keep me informed, since ive been reeealy badly treated by the other reps (lies etc all the time) I was told last week it would ship that day, and of course it didnt etc etc.....

So let me know if youve got any questions and i`ll ask him tomorrow..

I go away on the 7th so i wont have mine probe before i go, and im back 12 dats later, buy up until then i can ask him stuff..

could you ask him, in you own words (mine will be too strong :p), why one of your 'friends' was told the 2.4 Ghz T7700 processor chip had technical issues with the M1330 when in fact it was a mis price and i was tricked into cancelled my order so dell didn't have to honour their original quote?

I'm happy to pay for the T7700 ... i just need to know who to talk to to get my order modified without loosing my place in the queue... after all, Dell lied to me PROPERLY, not just about when it will be shipped, but over a fairly important issue which could result in legal action (if i knew what i was doing)...

Seriously though, if you could find out how i could upgrade my order to the T7700 and keep my slot in queue i'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Mine is still saying pre-production, ordered on 6th July and says EDD is 7th September, is that even realistic? I'm fed up of this 5h1t, it's becoming a joke, is it worth me ringing them up and complaining once again?

I think as they ramp up production u'll find it will ship before then. You should try ringing Dell though and being polite but forceful about the situation and see if you can get anything out of them. Bare in mind they're used to complaints by now so dont take the angry route.

I'll take your word for it. Just hoping it'll arrive in the first half of August and not later, waiting until September for it, is taking the p1$$. Well one positive thing is that they're aren't many worthy alternatives to the M1330.

like i said i would ring and give them some well channelled grief without blowing your top.. see where it gets you.

Also, as djrm suggested either earlier in this thread or on another, you could ring sales on 08703533140, lie and say you want to purcahse a new laptop and when you get put through to a sales rep change your story and say that you were directed to him to ask about which part is holding up your order. That way you can really fnd out what is going on.

Check djrm earlier posts or search for that phone number to check details.

i know EXACTLY how you feel, I have a letter over 2000 words now that im going to add to with the lies i get each day (with proof), then i`ll post it when it arrives finally.

Sure i`ll ask for ya, but i hear that for an upgrade you have to cancell and re-order
What u would do it leave it how it is, let it arrive and call saying, hey i asked for an upgrade for the cpu can i have it?
Sell yours and get your new one. or say, ship me an upgraded one and i`ll post this back after..
Or cancel and wait a year for your upgraded one! :D

I`ll ask tomorroe for ya when he calls again anyway!
    Best of luck!

Has anyone from the uk actually got theirs yet??

Dell phoned yesterday and it's being delivered on Monday!

I word of advice when it comes to complaining, never send emails they go to the normal reps. If you want a UK based rep to deal with your query send a written letter to the UK Dell address on their website.

Anyone who ordered the 2.4 is entitled to get some compensation as a result of Dell not being able to provide the processor. As I told the original rep it is a legally binding contract once the order has been processed. This is basically what happened to Argus when a chap bought 10 televisions for £2.99 each instead of £299 each took them to court and won. As soon as the order is completed they owe you, as long as you printed off the sales invoice specifying the processor for that price so you can send it with the letter.

We'll see where it gets me then - I still have both it will be interesting to see what I can get out of Dell. I've written to my sale's rep manager but we'll see if that gets me anywhere... if not then i'll write the same letter to the UK address.

Are you planning on doing a review of your system? real world battery life is what i'm most interested in. Cheers,
    J

I'm doing the same armed with my timeline in my sig, I certainly won't be bothering wasting a stamp sending a letter to India, manager or otherwise.

I am similarly unimpressed a the 2.4GHz co-ckup. Though with that said, I have a 1.8GHz which I will swap out for something faster and cheaper when my warranty period is up/nearly up :)

When you ordered these 2.4 GHz processors at 2.0 GHz prices wasn't it obvious to you that Dell had made a mistake?

I thought the site listed in order of increasing prices the processors:
    1.8 GHz
    2.4 GHz
    2.2 GHz
    2.4 GHz

It shouldn't take a mathematical genius to figure out it was a typo. Then it wouldn't it be rather avaricious to take advantage of that mistake and not expect to get knocked back to 2.0 GHz?

That's exactly what I did, the original rep said we made a mistake with the price and I said that's obvious that's why I bought it! No way I was ever going to cancel I knew the moment I ordered that I was looking at a discounted 2.2 T7500!

The t61 is much larger than the M1330 though - not a direct replacement anyway i should have thought?

Be thankful anyway. i ordered on the 3 July, was told it would ship in the 23 July... now its shipping on the 24 August. I bet it doesn't even make that.

Im waiting on a latitude d630(I like latitudes) which is the same size as the t61 but dell have said all notebook screen sizes are now affected
by the way there is not a huge difference in the sizes of a 13.3 laptop and a 14.1 but i do sympathise with you jtromans since u seem to be getting a rough ride from them
Id imagine my delivery date will be delayed again in two weeks cause people who ordered 2/3 weeks before i did still havent got theirs and i beliebve orders are being processed in the order they came in

The status page and phone system now say it's in production for me. Didn't get the LED, Bluetooth, fingerprint reader or Wireless N though.

Saying it like that makes me think what DID I order? lol I'm happy with my config so it's all good.

Do you have a UK number for the phone system or are you using the one Stateside?

I just call the number on the Dell website and do the old press 1 for so and so lol. It doesn't give any more detail than the online status though, unlike the US one from what I've heard.

Well mine got pushed back from 18/06 to 16/08 on 17/07.
Seeing that post, i have the strong feeling that there might be another delay and 16/08 is not a real delivery date but mor of a "waiting room", when did you order?

    *sigh*
