I initially ordered the T7700 ont he 26/06 (First day released in UK at about 10am), but was contacted on the 10/07 to be told that it was a problematic chipset, they would give me the next chips T7500. I accepted and my delivery date changed to the 16th August. I contacted my agent to complain, and he said that I would be put to the priority list.
Now I discover that my laptop is £10 cheaper online than I bought it for and Dell have delayed me for 7 weeks and counting. I called to complain about the delay and the fact that they have had my money for 5 weeks and now the item is cheaper. I was told in no uncertian terms they could give me a discount, but this would result in cancellation of the order and re-issue. I would see the laptop at the end of Sept. Needless to say I relented and said I would take the hit.
I got an email about 3 hours later from the agent telling me there are severe delays and that LED displays would only arrive on the 17th and the cases on the 11th/08. So expect that my delivery will be delayed till the late august or beyond.
This is a DISGRACE!!! Is there any chance I can get cash or items post delivery? I want something for the delays and the fact they had my cash for a number of weeks with no showing!
Ordered: 27/06
Expected: 16/07
Delayed Till:16/08
Further Delay: 21/08

i ordered very similar specs to you on the 28th June. Still not arrived.
Order Date: 28/06/2007
Estimated Delivery Date (on or before this date): 17/07/2007
Pre-Production as of 28/06/2007
You got alot better price than me, how come? and you got a 2.2Ghz cpu instead of my 2.0Ghz cpu. I have a 6 cell plus 9 cell battery plus the rep was supposed to have given me a good deal on the 3yrs accidental damage and 3yrs waranty but mine comes to £1599. So even if i add the 3yrs accidental damage and warranty on at full price to your price, yours is still 178 quid cheaper. How did you manage to get this so cheap? Did you order from the website? i know one day after i ordered mine via phone the website went wrong and was not offering a 2.0Ghz CPU but a 2.2Ghz was there in its place. I assumed this to be an error. if i was to reconfigure my notebook spec with a 2.2 Ghz it would come out at £1775 - making the warranty and extra 9-cell battery effectively £665. WTF! Please explain. Should i reorder, i may even get it sooner!!! -
funny you should say that, i ordered mine WITH and received without it. so mine will be going back. just waiting to speak to a sales rep on monday. i cant believe that they close their customer services dept. on weekend. i havent found one single company in the UK who does that. its rediculous in this day and age. -
i have never done a review before so any suggestions are welcome. -

Hey all.
I had an idea to knock together a few webpage driven my a SQL database and PHP to keep track of Dell orders. The system was designed with the XPS M1330 in mind but will work with any system (Inspiron, etc)
It is designed for us folks to be able to see the system configurations of others, when they ordered their system, when it is schedulled to be delivered, when it was actually delivered, and so on.
The idea behind this is to give some of us who still haven't recieved or Dell XPS system or similar to be able to better understand when we might have this priviledge!
To get involved please visit, register yourself to add your system:

Well I guess it was going to happen eventually..my delivery date is now 27th of september. I was fine waiting until the end of august but the end of september!!
I'm seriously considering cancelling at this point. -
dont do it - it will come before then!
I noticed on system tracker your details are almost identical to mine apart from HDD and BT... your options are probably more preferential infact for Dell. I would be surprised if you had to wait anywhere near that long. -
Lol im not going to.. its the only laptop that i want at the moment.
I hope so. I've emailled my rep whos on holiday and his manager to try and sort it out.
They've tried offering me upgrades already but other that 4gb of RAM which they wouldn't do i've maxed pretty much everything else out lol -
Yeah sorry I thought to mention that. The warranty thing on the tracking page would be good.
Also maxxed out at 4 years lol -
Just had a word with them.. If i change the screen i can have it by the end of the week..
Hmmm. -
-
Yeah this is my reps boss..shes never let me down before so no reason not to believe her.
Its only the screen they are waiting for so why wouldnt you believe that.
Its meaningless anyway as i want the led screen -
This is getting ridiculous! It looks like we're onto the next round of revised EDD's.
I was originally due 20/7 and got the dreaded e-mail saying delayed to 16/8. I was ready to cancel but they talked me round assuring me I would definitely get the machine on or before 16/8. I can't see this happening now. I guess I'll be getting the e-mail tomorrow.
I have the same problem as previously mentioned here, there isn't really anything else I want. I quite like the MacBook Pro (size is not really critical so a light 15" would be ok) but I works out quite a lot more expensive especially since I would have to factor in the cost of a copy of Vista to dual boot.
This has really soured my experience of Dell (who I have bought all my previous laptops and desktops from). -
I have an EDD of 16/08 and have been waiting since 26/06. Called up rep today and after much talk he eventually revealed that he did not think I would get mine on 16/08 as LED screens are only expected on 17/08 and they will require another 2 days before shipping. So expect 20/08 earliest.
I also asked for some compensation or upgrades for waiting for so long and they refused to give me anything unless I cancel and re-order which means I will only see my laptop on late september. Anyone had similar conversations? -
-
I'm a newbie here, but i see some people are experiencing the same problems as me! I ordered mine on the 4th July and the EDD was 28th July. Sadly i was going to France that day so my rep pushed the EDD back to 11th August.
Then a few days before i went on holiday i got a email saying the Revised EDD was 5th September (2 months after i ordered)! I emailed the rep and she said don't worry about it, its still August 11th. Well as you can see its August 13th and i haven't received my laptop!! Hopefully it will come this week! -
-
mine was ordered on the 4th..im on the "priority list" (HA!! what a joke) and my EDD is september 27th.. so yeah..dont count on it.
-
Well here's the latest... my 1330 is delayed...
...NOT because of the lid
...NOT because of the processor
...NOT because of the fingerprint..
but.... wait for it..
"Hi , The order is short part
BTRY,PRI,85WHR,9C,LITH,SANYO 4000
Due in: 08/31/2007 0:00
Thanks & Regards , ATR , Exceptions Team "
Oh well thats clever.. my battery is due 1 day after my latest EDD hahaha.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr -
I phoned my contact in the factory in Limerick today and they are awaiting the delivery for the LED backlit screens for the 23rd or 24th (thats Thursday or Friday next week).
He confirmed that under no circumstances my notebook will make the EDD of 16/08, period. He said even for my prioritised order that would mean an EDD of the last week of August at the earliest.
My rep is on holidays at the moment. Had a chat with her manager, but she told me that i won't get accidental cover as upgrade for the long delay.
I currently consider cancelling and reordering the M1330. Reason is the price dropped quite nicely and for the same price i can now get 3yr accidental coverage as well (or at least nearly the same price) and i'll get a free online printer as well. -
Ceminino, how long did it take for Dell to refund the cost of the laptop after you cancelled?
Cancelled the M1330 today - lack the patience to deal with a joke of a company that Dell is trying to run. Even the M1330 isn't worth 3 months of waiting in my book. Now off to nab myself a Macbook Pro!
Good luck to those still dealing with this farce. -
indeed it is rediculous. As time goes by it becomes harder and harder to get any form of discount because the reps have all be told if they ALLgave out these kinds of discounts to all the troubled customers Dell would lose out too much.
it was easier in the beginning to get discounts because no one really know the extent of how many people would be phoning in demanding things. -
And the next thing then is... well my sales rep is a local, but the chap i have to cancel my order with is in India.
Ok, i think he didn't get it. I told him twice that i want to cancel and that i'm sure of it. Then he started telling me the advantages of being a dell customer, and i told him that i just recently experienced these advantages and that this is the reason why i'd like to cancel.
Then he started telling me how precious this notebook is and that i should reconsider my cancellation and he will give me some time, to think about it. i told him to be quite and cancel the thing.
He started something again and i simply said, cancel it or you pay it.
And hung up.
Well the order is still due to be delivered tomorrow.
Sweet.
Sigh.
Have i mentioned that my sales rep is on hols and that her Team Lead hasn't come back yet.
I really think i'm part of some hidden camera show by now. -
Whats the exact deal with the UK? Has anyone's actually been delivered?
My new EDD is a joke. -
-
Ok, thats it.
Not enough that i can NOT cancel my order due to this pathetic indian door to door solicitor. He even wrote me an email that he appreciates my interest in my order and that he will send me a weekly update on fridays to keep me up to date of my order progres.
No.
My new deliverey date is 28/09.
This is outrageous!
What a scam is this farce?
I paid 2.4 grand for a notebook and have to wait for 3 months for it?
I can buy the same notebook config now for slightly under 2 grand.
And they won't let me cancel it?
Who do they think they are?
I want my money back NOW
Sorry.... -
-
Cloudhopper why do not just ring up the Dell helpline and go through to the order status line and then select the option to speak to someone and then just cancel. You do not need to speak to your booking agent to cancel. They will still issue you your refund and they arrange it without them anyway.
You may well get calls or emails asking you to rebook if you cancel i got a bit more than this lol.
You seem to have paid such a lot for your system i wonder what were the full specs?
Best of luck with this.
I know that it can get real tiring going back and forwards with Dell. It is a shame that people have to do this it should not be a such a stressful experience ordering a laptop. A lot of the problems that have been caused are beyond the control of the ordinary joe blog worker but sometimes this is not the case. -
its rather expensive here as well, so thats 2ghz, 160GB HDD, 2GB, GeForce, fingerprint, Bluetooth, LED of course, a cheap mouse/keyboard combo and 3year warranty, no discounts given.
and there is a typo, its 2.3 not 2.4 my apologies.
I can get the same config now on there wsebsite for 1998.25, 2237 including the 3yr accidental coverage.
And i can't cancel because everytime i phone em up, the chap on the other end starts with "Sir we know about the issues surrounding this product. As in the current state of unforeseen problems we understand your state of frustration. Therefor we like to give you the opportunity to rethink your decision and have some more time to make the right decision. Would you like a callback tomorrow?"
Seriously, its like dropping out of scientology. -
Well another call gets me the same information.. The delay on mine is the 9 cell battery... we can't give you a 6 cell as you paid more for the 9 cell... err..
I mention that I actuallly got both a 9 and a 6 cell.. then get told well you can only have a full order and not a part order..
They wont refund me the £100 they promised as I dont have the laptop yet.. no amount of chatting convinces them that they took the full £1200 on aug 1st.. but I dont have a laptop.. why the hell do they get to keep my money... gits.. hehe.. -
New EDD today, 01/10/07
Dell are a bunch of lying wan**rs, when I have this I will never ever buy any of their products again.
I actually want another manufacturer to sneak in and produce a rival just so I can give them my money instead of Dell. -
I thought being delayed again till 30th August was bad... but another month on top.. this is mad mad mad.... lets hope they sort it or some other laptop gets release in the meantime.. -
Well, i have now managed to get my final price at £1,077 for the specs in my sig.
matt5cott i am sorry to read about the extended delay again it is really ridiclous and i hope that your notebook is dispatched soon. -
all in the same boat really.. ordered on 04/07 EDD now 27/09
I've got the same spec as you rachuk but i have the 200gb 7200rpm.. all for £1170
yet its all quite meaningless since none of us have them yet!! -
The LED screen is whats holding us all up..CCFL you should have a lot sooner
-
iirc I have almost same spec as rachuk too.. just with extra 6cell battery
but yea staffsmike you have it right.. its all meaningless that great deal we got on a laptop that never came.. I dont get why my order on the 6th hasnt been pushed back too.. maybe its the white case.. -
staffsMike lol i think that i matched you now as you have the 9 cell but i have 3 year McAfee as well. I agree though it is all meaningless though for all the reasons that have been said.
I spoke with Dell yesterday and they are still telling me that i am in production when i am clearly not according to the phone order status and online. -
Hi, I've just found this forum and oh dear, what on earth are Dell playing at. I also just got a new EDD of 01/10/2007 after I rang up (was previously 28/08/2007) although I doubt I'll get it even then as alot of people will have ordered before me and have the same EDD (I ordered 18/07).
The thing that also gets me, is that new customers are getting given the same EDD for new orders placed today. If they have that big a back log (and it must be huge by now) they can't possibly make that EDD date for the new orders either. Why can't they just own up and give a realistic date in the first place?! -

Hello chaps.
I don't understand this, my EDD is the 21st of September and I only ordered on the 7th of August, yet some of you ordered in July and you have later EDD's than me?!?
Anyway, I've just registerred to write in this thread.
I ordered:
T7300 2.2ghz
160GB SATA HD
2GB DDR2 RAM
CCFL 13.3" LCD
FingerPrint Reader
3 Years Warranty
8400GS
WLan
If you phone Dell up you can get good discounts, I picked up the above spec for £960 including delivery which I thought was a nice saving, £160 off the online list price. So discounts are possible.
I am wondering about this CCFL v LED screen though, do you think that I should have gone for the LED? Is it that much smaller and does it save battery? -
My rep 'admitted' there were problems and offered me a better laptop, problem was that it was twice as dear!! My EDD is still 5th September and i ordered the CCFL Display! I'm prepared to wait though!
-
I don't like mcafee though, i use kaspersky -

No, I replied on the "M1330 Pricing" thread and said something about the carry cases and earbuds, I think I was wrong though as the ones on Ebay seem to have them!
