They cater to us Americans, so it'll be released when it's the 26th here.
-
hehe, I was wondering about that. Thinking maybe I could sneak by most other americans and order early because they would release on the 26th just not our 26th...lol.

I agree...the lack of a DVI or HDMI is criminal neglect on Dell's part. With the advent of so many digital tv's and monitors, (even they sell tons of them! Don't the departments talk to each other?) and the ease of attaching your laptop to them (specially if its a nVidia GPU, their software makes it real easy to deal with the very common overscan issue) to view pictures, video, play games.....
Wake Up DELL!! Even the equiv HP has it...and its been out longer. -
It is _impossible_ that 1720 wouldn't have either HDMI or DVI.

Good find! I'm signed up for it already lol
-
If you go here: http://www.visualwebcaster.com/event.asp?id=40275
the page is even titled "Inspiron Launch" -
damnit, I have class from 9-12 est, you guys will have to fill me in on the particulars. Anyone now how to set something up to record a webcast like that?
YoJr, how hard will it be to get the new 1520's keyboard off so I can upgrade both slots of mem? -
man whats up with they hiding the ram???
-
man I can hardly wait!
-
-
are they obvious and easy to get too? I am worried about scratching the paint on the screws as well. I don't want a brand new lappy with nasty looking screws but I also can't see paying Dell $200 for 2 gigs of ram, when I can order the minimum through them and buy 2 gigs on newegg for $80, then sell the new ones and get some of my money back.
-
-
For my brother, it's between the Inspiron 1520 and XPS M1330. It all depends on pricing to be honest, but the M1330 card is horrendous....
-
-
-
Doubly sad if they are going backwards...my I9300 has DVI out. Been planning to get a DVI - HDMI cable from Monoprice.com so I can connect it to my 61" JVC 1080P LCoS TV and play games etc in 1080P brilliance!
-
Although, since you keep saying that its not even listed in the specs or shown in any pictures (whereas for the hps they did appear in manuals before the dedicateds came out), im guessing that there really is no dvi/hdmi. -
Tomorrow is the day...
-
-
So are we guessing the Web site won't be updated till 10 AM Eastern? I'd been hoping for midnight or 12:15...that way I could stay up and check rather than check tomorrow.
-
Lucky for me i wake up at 10 am eastern. I was going to buy my laptop yesterday but sence the dells are coming out tomorow i might as well wait and see if they are the better deal (although i HIGHLY doubt it)
-
Well, i'm here in the west. So it would be 7 am for me. Not too shabby.
-
that's so stupid, they're pulling an apple.
and someone asked why they put ram under keyboard, well it's basically forcing you to buy more ram from them isn't it? THey say that you can't even upgrade that SoDimm, although I don't know it to be true since I have seen it by taking apart my HP. The tech support told me it was soldered on... so i didn't mess with it. -

-
So just to make clear the issue, that dimm under the keyboard on a Dell lappy is replaceable?
-
Yep, it's replaceable...it SOUNDS a little scary, but nothing really to it just check on support.dell.com for the Manuals
-
GREAT! I just wanted to make sure, because that makes a pretty significant difference in price of these systems. $200 vs $80, well at least that is significant to me anyway. Plus as my understand of these systems supporting 4 gigs that makes a difference to me there too, because later on down the road I would like to switch to 4 gigs. Maybe about a year or so if ram prices keep coming down...
-
Just came from Dell's website and the 1501 is gone now too.

very detailed instructions. Nevertheless, I think it's an odd construction. The equivalent of a car that requires taking out the driver's seat when doing an oil change. Not impossible, but odd. -

To Liquid X: You know, Fry's online store sells Patriot 2GB 1 stick for around 89 bucks. That's still not cheap enough? I mean, bust out that credit card!
-
what brand though?
-
-
I just noticed that the new Inspirons and the xps m1330 are already up on Dell.ca!!
-
-
I'm surpised the m1330 starts at $1489 CDN. seems like a pretty decent deal but the blu-ray upgrade is $710 !!
-
the 15.4" only has a 8400 GS =( <--- wrong
has 8400 and 8600 my mistake. -
choices for 17" are IntelJ Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and ATI RADEON® Xpress1270 HyperMemory™(64MB local frame buffer). GROSS!
-
-
i hope i'm wrong. if so, that's so my laptop right there! lol. let me check again.
edit: haha my bad. phew. what a relief. thanks =). -
um why is there only up to T7100 on these notebook? what a disappointment
-
the blueray burner looks nice on the E1520
-
From the Canadian site they don't really look half bad! It says that they have a magnesium alloy frame, so i wonder if this will change people's opinions of the Inspiron's overall build quality.
-
-
they clearly offer 2 ghz: http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=ca&CS=cadhs1&l=en&OC=N15202V_R_E
you just have to choose the right "base" config -
disappointed with lack of wuxga display =(
-
ordering one of these this week. educational discount maybe?
Upcoming; Inspiron 1520 and 1720
