No XPS M1710 update this July, but there will be one later this year. Major Update from the 1710.

will the 1520 be able to display 1920*1200 resolution as the D830? (third time asking with no reply)

This says the 1520 will offer UXGA resolution. -
-
Homepage post says the 1520 will have a 8600m!!!
Considering their prices Dell will be the way to go 4 me...June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th, June 26th. I'm going to sleep now. -

I am still wondering whether it launch at 26 June.... right now it's just a week ahead form the the launch date 26 June and no news at all from dell.
Is it an announcement date or launching date selling the new line notebook ? -
It wouldn't be too far out of question for Dell to offer the i1520 with a WUXGA screen....The older i6000 series (PenM version of the E1505) had WUXGA as an option. I'm guessing they axed it in the E1505 because it wasn't a popular option, but recently many people have been asking for it and/or complaining about it (Homer_Jay, I'm looking at you
) so now they are bringing it back....It makes sense that way.
Of course, it could also be a typo, and the highest screen res could be just WSXGA again. -
they can pull an apple and have speculation then bring down the site and hwen it comes back up, voila, new computers

The 8800 is only supposed to use 22 watts, which is ridiculous. A replacement for the 1710 with an 8800 and DVI could be awesome. It's really what I've been waiting for since last July.
Of course I'd REALLY love having four cores, but I think I can "make do" with only two -
Is there any thing changing by Mid end july for XPS M1710 or am i just wasting my time? Should i just buy now?
I cant wait any longer than that! A lot of people are saying that something would be released mid july! -
I would *LOVE* to know what genius decided on this, especially since you can have DVI ports that can output VGA with an adapter (like the Macbook Pro).
It's going to be WELL worth the upgrade, especially since you want to get at least similar to the performance the current consoles offer, since a lot of times games use the consoles as the lowest common denominator (like how you could kind of get by with a Geforce 3 or 4 for a long time, since many games targeted the X-Box 1 as the lowest common denominator).

Guess I'll keep limping along with my current system. I'd be disappointed if I bought now, only to have something higher end offered a few months later
*DROOLS* Eh, I like Dell. I like how user accessible they make their systems. I like how non-gimmicky they are (function over form). And the keyboards seem a lot better than the other brands I've tried recently. So...yeah, this sounds good. -
YoJr , does dell 1520 and others able to select keyboard color ?
Since they allow to customize the top color , it would be nice to have it on keyboard. -
If it's Q3 I can probably wait...Q4....that might tough. -
I want to wait - I just don't think I can... -

** Looks like this was already answered. I haven't been to work but I think it would be safe to say that is true.** -

Sorry about all my posts in a row... had to catch up.... I haven't heard anything about the XPS but like I said, I am on the Home, Home Office end of Dell. I was in training for XPS but they pulled me the last day when they found out I was cutting to PT and got a new **cough** Better **cough** job. I was mad but understand why they did it. I keep checking our products page (internal information) to find out about what is coming out. But like I said, they usually only give that to us about 2 months before release. So if any one else has a better channel, feel free to jump in on that. I just can't give an official confirmation.
I personally like the new 1720 and hope that they pull over that and much more into the new XPS line. I am itching to upgrade my desktop but My wife mentioned she wants an iMAC instead. She comprimissed saying I can eventually can get a windows notebook in the future (since she claimed the E1505 we have as hers[which I let her]) So I hope by the time she will let me get a notebook, the new XPS will be out and in my price range.
-
I hear there'll be new iMacs coming out pretty soon, if you're going that route. Although actually maybe that's a reason to buy it now, since apparently only the more expensive models will be overhauled: http://www.appleinsider.com/article...overhaul_tracking_for_mid_to_late_summer.html
-
So the Vostro is exactly the same specs of the new inspirons, any information on what it'll look like and if pricing is same and if not just a bit more expensive?
-
YoJr,
Check your PM's. -
but I should be able to give some good info...
Look for the info tomorrow -
Citricacidcycle Notebook Consultant
I think we cannot thank YoJr enough for making our guesses much more educated.
-
Have you heard anything about the Mantra line? I don't know much about it other than its AMD and separate from the Inspirons. I found the name on a Korean government product pdf or something like that.
And thanks for all the info on the upcoming Dell products. -
-
Weird, ok then. I swear I saw it though, I think its posted on page 2. Maybe its for Asia only or something...

Okay, So here is the dirt.... (well as much as I can without crossing any lines...

Crud! No WUXGA on 15.4"!
-
Okay now the dirt on the Vostros....
They look just like the ispirons but are all black. Same options and all.
v1700 = i1720
v1500 = i1520
v1400 = i1521 (I would have though it was a 14" screen but it says 15")
v1000 = doesn't really have a cousin but is closest to the i1501.... really basic line.
They are replacing the inspiron line with the vostros on the business side. so instead of buying an inspiron for your business, you get a vostroLook for them on July 12th.
-
Now as far as the Inspiron Desktop (BTW they will have a vostro desktop just like it) was set to be released yesterday but nothing on their site ?? not sure what is up with that.... this info is Dell inside info too.... Meh, I guess they will start selling it when they want to.
-
Would it be asking to much to estimate a cost difference between the 8600 GT and the 8400 GS? I would REALLY like the 8600GT but if it is going to cost about $250 or so more, I simply won't be able to afford it! I am aiming to get this laptop with the graphics card and with my student discount for around $1400 max. Also, would you suggest ordering one straight away? Or possibly wait a couple weeks or so and let them work out the bugs? I absoultly need to have it before Aug 11th, so I can't wait to long....

oh, good news for everyone.............. drum roll.......... the new xps (m1330) will have HDMI.....
I hope I don't get in trouple for this one....
"The XPS™ M1330 system is a premium thin and light XPS offering evolved from the XPS M1210 feature set. It is used primarily for entertainment, communications, and productivity functions. The form factor is 13.3 inches wide, sleek in design, and weighs less than 4 pounds. The XPS M1330 shaves a half pound off of the XPS M1210's weight and 8 mm off of the M1210's 31.8 mm height.
The XPS M1330 targets consumer and small business customers who demand a thin, richly featured, stylish, lightweight notebook. It appeals to the previous XPS M1210 customers and draws customers from the 12.1-inch, 13.3-inch , and 14.1-inch categories due to its XPS branding, form factor, and feature richness. XPS products traditionally carry a higher margin and revenues than entertainment and mainstream products, so it is acceptable if the XPS M1330 draws customers from Dell's 14.1-inch entertainment and mainstream offerings.
Discrete graphics are an option for customers who want advanced performance as well as support for new technologies. Intel's Santa Rosa technology brings parity with competitive products in the marketplace and facilitates the use of Crestline GM/PM chipsets and Merom processors. This platform is ready to accept Penryn processors. "
adds a T7700 — 2.4 GHz to the line up on top of the options from the inspiron/vostro line. also will have a 13.3-inch WXGA TrueLife™ with CCFL lighting (1280x800) OR [get excited for this one] a 13.3-inch WXGA TrueLife with LED lighting (1280x800)
Mobile Intel® X3100 GMA
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Slot loading blu-ray
The system is really thin...
"The XPS M1330 ships with an optional built-in camera. Customers can get either a 2-megapixel or 300-kilopixel camera depending on the LCD type. The CCFL-backlit display has the 2-megapixel camera, while the LED-backlit display has the 300-kilopixel version. The reason is that the LED display is much thinner, so the camera has to be thinner as well"
"The batteries on the XPS™ M1330 system are unique. Thay have been designed to fit this system only and do not work with any other system. The 9-cell battery has an extended piece that runs along the back edge of the system and extends further from the bottom. Because of this design, the system actually rests on the battery and is at a steeper incline than when the 6-cell battery is installed. "
I don't dare post any more.... don't want to get in trouble -
-
About the all black Vostros. Killer. I do not dig the silver insides of the new Inspirons, it makes them look cheap.
-
wait so like the shells look the same, just painted black.
going from 8400gs to 8600 gt will probably be a pretty hefty upgrade. -
Wow, amazing info, YoJr. Quite informative. Thanks a lot. All said, I'm probably going to get an e1705 rather than the newer models...there's some pretty killer closer deals right now as well.
-
-
What's the performance difference between the 8400GS and the 8600GT? I WANT the 1420, but I want the best bang for my buck...I have 1505 now with X1400...is the 8400GS better or worse than the X1400? Are they both DirectX10 cards?
-
The 8400GS is much better than the X1400. The 8400GS is DirectX 10, the X1400 is not.
-
I know that the X1400 is not DirectX10...I'm saying I have the E1505 RIGHT NOW with X1400. I'm going to be getting the 1420 or 1520 here soon. I WANT the 1420 because of the size, but I also want the best bang for my buck. Is the 8600GT that much of a difference from the 8400GS to warrant not only the price increase, but the size increase? That's why I originally got the E1505 instead of the M140, because I needed the dedicated graphics.
-
So you are asking if the 8400 and 8600 are both DX10? If so then yes they are both DX10. I guess it would warrant the price difference for some people, but probably not for others. Since nobody knows what the price difference is, it's hard to say if it's worth it or not. Personally, I'd rather have the 1420 just because of it's size and especially now that it's going to have a dedicated graphics option.
-
Thats really weird how the Vostro 1400 is a 15 inch screen. I hope its a typo.
Upcoming; Inspiron 1520 and 1720
