They do right now. You're probably not seeing the full selection from the drop down menu. They mix up which systems they feature all the time. The 1705 wasn't featured there for a long time.

Click on the screen size links instead of on the model name.

ahh, i c, well then retract previous said statement.
And many appologies to any who took that as true. but in my defense, i really did think it was true. -
-
well considering that they don't have any of either of the GPU's in that are supposed to go into the E1505's I understand it. They have completely ran out of the 7300's and from what i was told are not to get anymore, and it will be 23 days before the X1400's come in. My system was bought on the 14th of may, and just yesterday they changed my GPU to the X1400 and they told me that it would be 24 days before the shipment came in, and my system would be sent out immediately afterwards giving it a shipping date of the 15th of July. That is why I am so interested in the E1520 coming out soon, so that if I want to cancel my other order I don't have to mess with sending it back. I am just really hoping for some great release deals. I would think Dell would have those considering so many other companies already have S.R. setups out. Dell would like to lure you away from buying someone else's lappy.

Sorry about my rant but a pet peeve of mine is retailers that beat around the bush and consumers that complain about their own stupidity -
Not sure where you shop...but here...I can shop at Target, Best Buy, Nordstroms, etc and buy something...and anywhere from 2 weeks (Target), 60 days (Best Buy) and forever (Nordstroms...cause they're weird. Wife works there and knows! LOL!) If what I bought comes out within that time period at a lower price, I can get the difference back. Heck at BB, I bought a new 61" 1080P lCos set...got several discounts, came back a few days later with my 11% off coupons and Customer Service gave the difference back in cash.
Anyways, great thread. Thinking about a 1520 for my boys Grad present. (also looking at a HP equiv...) -
So, I just checked the Dell site and still no work on the inspiron dekstops... this is making me worried that they are not going to be releasing the notebooks in time. it is three days past RTS and still nothing :confused2:
-
well see when I originally paid for the laptop, there was no information on the 1520 out yet. But I am willing to bet that guy that had made the thread you were talking about could have just called and cancelled his order and then reput it in with the vista upgrade attached. Why complain about it, that is what customer rights are for. To ensure that we as consumers get what we want, if it is offered. Especially in a case where you haven't received the product. I think even best buy will return a laptop and resell it to the person if that laptop has rebates on it or something. Now, if you bought it, and 3 months later it had a rebate, then no, they aren't going to do anything. But the hush hush thing is really strange, you would think dell would be toting it big time, unless they have a lot of stock of current product, not necessarily the 1505, but maybe the others, and want to get rid of that as much as possible so that when the new ones come out, they don't have to sell the old at ridiculously low prices just to get rid of them, or jack the prices up on the new so that the old will actually sell. Who knows, I am hoping this is just dell holding their head down at being late to the game. Although with the revamp of the line, and finally putting some pretty decent specs out, it is very weird that they are being hush hush about it. Anyways, that just my opinion.

but I would raise a stink about it if they company said no, I would shrug it off as my luck. "crap, missed that deal" but that is were shopping around comes in handy. I just hate it when a customer uses the phrase " this company does it so why not you?" well, if you like what that company offers, GO WITH THEM! but this is my ranting of 7 years in customer/technical service. I don't blame people for trying, heck, I call up companies and try to get money back but if they say no, I don't threaten to sue which the particular post I found did. I can just see that in front of the judge now, "I want to sue this company because they would honor a deal that they offered a day after I purchased my item".. I doubt that will hold up. okay, so enough of me going on.... I have 7 years of stories so I don't want to go off on that... sorry to those about me getting off of subject.

I'm amazed by customers making these big purchases with no research at all. Although on the other hand, I guess there are areas that I'm totally clueless about, so this stuff just seems "obvious" to me. But still, I'm not thinking I'm going to get the best possible deal on a car or something.

well you also have to remember, that many people don't know about computers very much, and simply turn to dell because of name brand recognition. Then they would come on places like these and complain about it. The fact that the guy would not simply cancel his order and just redo it with the upgrade speaks to the fact that he is most likely not knowledgeable about either computers or at the very least, purchasing them.

I again had a chat with a dell sales agent....MY QUES..if u can tell me about the new inspirons then go ahead..thanks....
HER ANSWER WAS..We cannot comment on our unannounced inspirons soon its going to be on the web site........
MY SECOND QUES----any idea about the release date???
HER ANSWER WAS-----it would not take more then 2 weeks....
ONE DELL AGENT IS SAYING ANOTHER THING ...AND SO ON...
HOPEFULLY CANADA WILL BE HAVING THE SAME RELEASE DATE!!! -
Still, I agree and I'm more like you. -
thanks for the update geoff
2 weeks, hopefully that's the case (in canada)! can't wait ^^ -
actually that means they could be released on the 26th, but if supply issues are a problem, then the most we should face is two weeks. Hopefully that is correct and not some dell rep talking out their butt...lol
-
I talked to a Dell agent at the mall today, and asked if the new Inspirons would support 4 GB, and he replied, "Yes, I believe they will." He also said they would be released next week (U.S.).
So that's another agent confirming the June 26th time and 4 GB. -
Can anyone get confirmation of the Canadian release date? D:
-
wouldn't they just release it on the website and just ship it to us later? they'll really disappoint us if they don't release it next tuesday

Well, only those of us who have been actively scouring the web for bits and pieces of information may feel disappointed. I suppose the vast majority of people doesn't know or care too much. Hence many may not even be aware that the E1505 they buy may be outdated by the time it is delivered.
Naturally, once a company releases a model early but doesn't ship the computers for weeks, their customers get angry, too, waiting for something that doesn't arrive. So, no matter what they do, they'll take flak. -
heh, by the time my system actually ships from Dell it will have been 2 months and 2 days, that's IF it actually ships on time. So if I was to order a 1520 on the 26th and it came a month later, I would be happy with that wait...lol

It could be worse, a coworked has been waiting 45 days already for his Lenovo Thinkpad and just heard it will take two more months before they will restock on displays. -
has he gotten anything for his wait, like free extended warranty or something, that is a ridiculous amount of time to ask a customer to wait.
-
Sort of interesting: Sony's AR series is supposed to start shipping on the 26th too, or around there.

ok, it's been a couple days since any interesting news has been posted about the new lappys, has anyone seen or heard anything new?
-
I'm curious why you would go for the Sony? In my experience there will be some $300 to $500 coupons that also cover the new Dell models. I'm not aware of such savings for the Sony's. (never looked) I don't like throwing $500 away if I can help it. It's a big reason I'm not looking at the HP now, best I find on it is $200 off. No doubt the HP is a nicer looking machine...but it's not almost $400 better looking!
-
-
Sometimes its a headache! But a good one!
I can almost always find good Dell coupons...but both for the Home & Business sides.....on top of that I get a 16-21% off through employee sales at my Aerospace firm. So anytime I'm looking for one, it takes a lot of homework and often cancellation of an order cause a better deal just came up! LOL! -
That is an advantage of living in such a glutton of a nation, that as most americans are way overspending, companies must compete more for our dollars.
That is an advantage I have right now to, is that I am a student, so if they don't have coupon deals on the new ones I should be able to still get a better deal by using the student discount program. -
Judging by the conversation, can I assume that there will be Dell Coupons for the new 1520 & 1720 as soon as they are released?
-
i know that this may sound like a very silly question;
Does anyone know if the new inspirons will offer windows xp as an option -
-
-
I doubt there will be any real specials at first. I'm unimpressed with the CURRENT specials, and they're only being run because the new models are coming out soon.
-
-
-
Which is yet further proof the new systems are on their waySo it's kind of a good thing. Dell's handling their inventory well.
-
not very well though, they are overselling what they have.
-
Not really, since if they're coming out next week, they're better off getting rid of what they can now. Apple's supply is a lot lower than that sometimes.
-
Just made me wanna lay down &
I'm going to wait & see what the prices are like on the new models. If I like what I see, then I'll pull the trigger on one. If not, then I will start trolling the Outlet for the e1705 w/7900GS! -
However, I was told by a Customer Service Rep, when I inquired as to whether or not they would be available again, that I could purchase one from their accessories Dept. for $399!!!!!!!
-
As far as them being delayed, I hadn't heard anything but also remember that I don't work there full time anymore. In fact, I am kinda surprized they have kept me around but they really begged for me to stay, so I think it would be interesting if they canned me for working a little when they said I could...
I will email one of my friends tonight and see if they have said anything. Sales and customer service I am sure have the most recent upto date information then us lowley tech agents....
As far as them dropping that video card, I find that interesting they would get rid of it so soon.
Also, the spec sheets I have only show vista, no xp...

What I would like to see is Vista 64 to be offered since they are 64 bit CPU's, Heck my 1505 tells me it is 64 bit compatable, I just don't have the money to throw at it right now. -
Red Flag Linux??? Really? That looks like a really strange choice of Linux distribution.
-
What ever happened to Ubuntu? -
Just read through the past few pages, and I called them today. They said that it will be released on the 26th, and he said itll be available for canadians on that date.
And I'm not sure if anyone else has heard about this or not, but he said that the 1520 will be AMD AND Intel? That kinda seems a bit strange to be me, since thatd mean different mobos.
Also he wouldnt say what video card it is, but he did say that about the cpus >_> seems a bit strange to me?
-Sulk -
As far as the Red Flag... I thought that was interesting also... not sure if that will be initial release or not. I haven't used that flavor so I can't give an opinion but I am glad they will have something else then just Ubuntu... I didn't like it that much. But to each their own.
BTW.... Read my sig.. -
Red Flag (note that's Red Flag, not Red Hat) is a Chinese distribution. Maybe popular in China but not in North America. So for me, that's not a welcome option especially when I don't see Ubuntu on the list of OSes.
-
Ubuntu will be an option on the new N series machinesm which should be released soon after the Vista machines.
Upcoming; Inspiron 1520 and 1720
