You've been put back to the 4th September? When did you place your order?

I'm still sitting on my original 17th of July one here. Many times i've been told I am on the priority list and should have it by end of this week although I don't really believe it. I have also been told another 2 times that I am in production, by my sale rep and the customer service team.

I may be one of the first people in the UK to have a vostro 1500 - quite exciting :D.

Not a pip here either. I am on pre-production still, although I only re-submitted the order on Friday so I am not worrying quite yet. I am so glad I cancelled now because I am almost certain my EDD would have been put back anyway.

Mines still in Pre-Production with an EDD of 31/08 :(
Starting to wish I'd have gone for the laptop currently on offer from www.aldi.co.uk. Atleast I'd have that in my hands sooner :)
My current laptop is a Medion and it has never given me any problems.

That Aldi laptop isn't bad, but its not a C2D and it has the 950 GPU... basically its nowhere near as good as the 1500 if you are doing a bit of gaming or using graphics intensive programs. I think you can get a similar spec dell 6400 for a lot less £350, or if you are in a hurry the lead time on the Vostro 1000 is around a week (AMD proc though).

Yeah, I know the spec isn't quite up to that of the Vostro, but not a bad spec & price for people less 'in the know' :)
I'm happy to wait for my Vostro, just better be worth the 4 week or so wait ;)
My main laptop is off to its new owner tonight, my nephew.
Will use my JVC MP-XP731 Mini Notebook in the meantime :)

Well - Just got off the phone with a CSR who informed me that my Vostro had gone into production today and is estimated to ship as per my ESD of 23rd. Dont really believe him but we'll see - he didn't say "its in production so should be with you within the week" so somehow I doubt it. Theres really no reason why it would have to sit there for 2 weeks if already assembled.

At least it's another reason for getting some sort of compensation should it get delayed past my EDD.

Is it showing as production on EMEA? I think CSRs sometimes say its in production to keep you happy/stop you from cancelling.

Ordered on the 27th, in Pre-Production.

I'm getting very frustrated by this.

Low, considering there is a 6 week lead time on the 1400 at the moment. I am surprised they gave you 31st as the EDD... they must be expecting a miracle :D

Mine arrived at work today, I have opened her up and had a right good peruse.

I'll be ripping her apart when I get home, I've got some memory modules to slap in it. Would anyone respect some pictures of it pretty much in pieces?

I got an email on Sunday for the sale guy saying mine had moved into production. But on checking EMEA it still says Pre-Production!
Wonder which one is telling the truth?
I haven't even been bothering them about when it will be ready.

Its still not the most accurate tracking system. The Americans have a much better system and a phone number that gives them more up-to-date information...shame we don't get that. Although still think the reps will say anything to keep you happy, whether your order suddenly goes into production when you phone to cancel or telling you you are on some kind of priority list (doesn't exist).

I am still on bloody pre-production hehe

Well - I was rung last week to say its was in production so thought "great!".

Kept checking the site - still in pre-production.

So emailed my CSR saying - "Doh - I thought you said production" (thinking I'd just misheard him and he said pre-production)

He emailed me back telling me the EMEA order tracking is broken at the moment and not showing correct info and assured me that my machine was in production and would be delivered on or before the EDD. Do I believe it? Not really but hey - when they miss the EDD I have all the evidence to drop like a ton of bricks on them ;)

Pre-production they are waiting for parts.

Production they are actually building the laptop.

Mine's been in pre-production since the order a week ago, but according to my rep its been in production all the time. I think I believe the online system. Plus why there is no notice saying that the online tracking system is down?

If Dell meets my 31/8 EDD, I will be extremely happy (provided no graininess :))...it's perfect timing for me.

Don't worry about the time spent in pre-production.

Mine was in pre-production from 26th July to yesterday and was dispatched today for a friday delivery. Estimated delivery date was 22/08/07.

Hope this brings some hope to people!!

EDIT: This was on the website, not the phone status thingy

It seems they have a batch of 1690x1050 screens in, because a lot of people have gone into production today that have that screen.

    The waiting game continues....:twitcy:

I'm pretty sure you will, If you look at what i went through:

    Orderd: 22 July
    EDD: 10 August
    Prepro: 22 July
    Delay EDD: 04 September
    Production+Testing+Boxing: 10 August
    Shipped: 11 August

It wasent that bad and now it seems like things are only getting better in the dell production facilities.
    Best of luck to you!
