Guys this thread just gets me really excited each time I have a look at it. Really cant wait, unfortunately there has been no further updates as to the wherabouts of my package apart from it having departed Limerick, anyone else had any updates? Just cant bloomin' wait to get my package on Tuesday
Vostropowered we seem to be in the same boat, mine was dispatched yesterday
-
Lol I totally know what you mean Stanton182, the more you read in the forums the more you want your laptop!!
Im just grateful that mines was dispatched within a week! My status also says 'departed limerick', it should go to their depot in hinckley (midlands) by monday morning and then probably with us on tuesday (fingers crossed!!
). Im just hoping theres nothing wrong with our order; missing cds, dodgy screen etc.
-
My vostro is now in production...5 days after I ordered it.
-
Yes, all very exciting!
My Vostro went from the "Pre-Production" stage to "Dispatched" within 24 hours! That's useful to know I guess for those who are still waiting or are frustrated by staying in "Pre-Production" for so long - things can change very quickly!
Good luck to everyone else with their Vostros! -
I'm from wales too pingadam! And my Vostro 1500 is due Monday - bet their on the same van!
Mine is in Cardiff atm, just down the road:
18/08/07 05:09 BPO - CARDIFF FIRST BOX SCANNED INTO HUB.
"BPO" are a courier company I guess? -
BPO - I think its a company called business post, not too sure though!
-
Hi Malc,
Yes they may indeed be on the same van!
Although I'm in West Wales (about half way between Carmarthen and Aberystwyth), so whether mine goes to a distribution point at Cardiff first, I don't know (as I'm nearer the ferry ports to/from Ireland - would they come in at Fishguard or Holyhead?).
When was yours dispatched? Mine only left today (it had only just entered "Production" phase this morning, but was dispatched by 5pm this afternoon). So I'm guessing I may receive mine around Tuesday or Wednesday with luck. -
Ah, mine went from preproduction, to production, to boxing to despatched all on on Thursday! - After being in preproduction for 11 days.
I had a tracking number for the Walsh Western website by Thursday evening and it took 2 days to get to the Cardiff depot so yours will probably be a day or two after mine yeahWalsh Western should give you an ETA if you check their order tracking? Mine says the 20th.

On the Dell Order Status website, the "Status Of Delivery" section states:
-
Yeah should be
Probably Monday now as you say -
Thanks for the info!
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to finally getting my laptop (and am hoping there are no issues) - should be great! -
Same here, cant wait! I was hoping it would turn up this morning as it arrived in Cardiff last night, but I guess they dont deliver Saturdays
The weekend suddenly seems such a long time, whereas it normally flies by! -
My status said 'production' last night and now it has gone back to pre-production :-(
-
-
HAHA! Checked online just now and my order's moved from production (yesterday) right up to dispatch. I tried clicking on the Walsh western link, but the page doesnt seem to load up properly? It says "Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly" so maybe details of my delivery arent up yet? Anywho, I'm still ecstatic! GO DELL!
-
Nice one matey! Bloody hell they sure are chrning these Vostros out!
-
this thread makes me very sad, orderd 12 july and still nowhere to be seen..
-
Have you given Dell a ring to see what's up?
-
It sounds like christmas is coming early for some!
-
Pah..Still in pre-pro
-
-
hehe Lucky for me on tues i have a day off, just hope the lappy comes in early mornin rather than late afternoon!!
-
My Vostro 1500 has been shipped
Ordered it on 3rd August, so thats not too bad a wait.
Especially considering my Estimated Delivery Date was the 31st August, thats a good 10 days early if it arrives tommorow/tuesday! -
-
-
My vostro 1500's being dispatched
Took a week of pre-production to get all the crap together but after that it was built tested and ready for my love in no time
Estimated delivery date - 6/9/07
I laugh at you, mr estimated delivery guy! -
Well - I was told it was "in production" on the 9th by phone. The EMEA status didin't reflect that so when I spoke to him again he said "I can assure you Sir its in production. Once all the parts are in it will be built"
Me - "But if its in production doesn't that mean all the parts are there"
CSR - "Once all the parts are in it will be built"
Me - "Well as I understand it that means it's still in preproduction as the EMEA stauts page clearly shows"
CSR - "No Sir it has been passed to production and will be built when all the parts are available"
I really dont think they now what the different stages mean or they are just stone walling. I thanked him and hung up exasperated.
Today the EMEA status is showing "In Production"
So hopefully - YAY!
I may get the first Vostro 1700 in Europe -
It seems like they received a massive batch of stock in the 18/19th august since alot of people are going into production finally in the last few days.
-
After using my 1500 over the weekend I haven't come across any problems.
Screen spot on, no grainyness as they're calling it.
Very little backlight bleed, only noticable on a completely black screen.
Battery nice and snugg, no wobble. I have the 9 cell battery.
Only issue I am having is finding a nice backpack big enough to carry it in -
Dispatched Monday, August 20, 2007
YAY!
-
Went into production today!
Ordered: 12/8
Production: 20/8
EDD still 31/8 -
-
I got mine a few hours ago
Very impressed so far, the laptop feels nicely put together and really solid. My battery does wobble a bit, but not enough to warrant replacing the laptop. Screen is really nice, although I wonder why I went for the TrueLife because its really reflective, but should be perfect for multimedia. The webcam is really cool, it wasn't in my original spec but I am glad I got it (although it probably wont get used much), it has lots of features and seems quite good quality.
I havent had enough time to really try it out but thought I would give some first impressions. Well worth the wait in my opinion
P.S. Walsh Western is saying the delivery failed... which is odd because I am using the laptop now! -
-
I just got a call from walsh western, said they will deliver 2moro morning AM! Im still in shock that my laptop will be coming 15 days earlier than expected!! I checked my delivery tracking online on the walsh western website and the latest update is 'plan committed'. What does this mean?
-
Is dell making fool of customers.....I had seen Production (ur order is being built) about 1hr a go....I was just excited to see some progress....But now the order status is back to Preproduction.......(ur Order is being prepared for production)....
-
Mine has gone BACK to pre-production...GRRR. Opinions?
-
My 1500 arrived too! Yay!
My battery also wobbles a bit, but it doesnt bother me really. My HDD is clicking constantly though which is a bit worrying, like once a second as if its doing stuff.
Any recommendations on what to uninstall F355? I already got rid of tiscali, orange, google desktop and a few other things. I didnt order any virus protection but its got McAfee on here, I'm not sure if its a trial or not tho and cant seem to find out :S If it is I will uninstall it. This is my first time using Vista and atm I'm quite lost haha.
God damn this keyboard is sexual, apart from the fact I keep hitting pageup/down instead of enter! -
The HDD clicking is Vista indexing the hard drive, so nothing to worry about.
I think I am going to reinstall Vista completely and get rid of the junk in the process. I thought these Vostros came without crapware but obviously not in the UK!
You are right on the keyboard it is really nice for a laptop keyboard. I am impressed with the quality so far, the only annoying things are the Wifi On/Off button is really loose and the battery is slightly loose. The glossy screen is great to use and vibrant on full brightness but can be annoying at low brightness. -
Reinstalling vista sounds like a great idea, but wont you lose all the drivers? I love the webcam stuff etc. Also, the brown disc labelled OPERATING SYSTEM - is actually Vista Business and not just some lame restore CD?
Got any more info on reinstalling vista? Gonna have to do it myself methinks! -
-
For the fun of it, I sent Dell an email today asking why the status went from production back to pre-production. I wonder what they'll say...
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=109447
This thread looks quite useful, and I think it should work on our Vostro 1500's tooI'm gonna go ahead and do it in a few mins!
-
My Vostro 1500 is scheduled for delivery tomorrow - yipee!
Can't wait! (I hope they include the restore DVD for Windows Vista though, and that my WXGA+ [1440 x 900] screen is ok). -
Wahey cant wait until tomorrow now. Been at work all day thinking about my laptop being delivered tomorrow (sad I know). Hmm Vostropowered I haven't had a call of Walsh Western oh well... And what is the location of your laptop at the moment Vostro mine has departed Hickley (which is in coventry) as of 17:26. Really cant wait until tomorrow now!
-
Mines left Walsh Westerns depot in Limerick and will be with me on Wednesday
-
Just finished the clean vista install, seems a bit faster.
The Dell resuorce driver CD is fantastic for installing the drivers u need! It scans ur laptop then tells u which drivers are missing and lets you install them off the disk
I still have the 10 gig recovery partition and a 2.5gig media direct partition though, I think I may do a proper format eventually but this will do for now. Is the recovery partition really needed for anything? -
Nice one matey! Anychance of some pics for us that are still waiting for ours to be delivered tomorrow?
Vostro Europe!
