What is the estimated shipping date for your 1420/1520/1720?

I am not saying mine config is the best deal out there but if you look up through the posts there are people ordering the 1520 without any discount at all.

Ok so I ordered on Friday afternoon my 1420. I just tried giving a call to the order status hotline and it says my order is "In Production" in the "Build" stage, so that was much faster than I expected. Maybe I'll get it before I'm supposed to, that'd be cool!

 

Don't get your hopes up. Mine has been "In Production" for quite a while now. All it really means is that your process has been ordered and it is in the PROCESS of production...

 

Mine was in the build stage as of Friday, Today its listed as shipped

I've been on and off the phone with Dell and DHL trying to get it corrected, but it looks like we're screwed. Our laptops will get here Wednesday at the earliest.

Mines shipping August 6th. What a bummer...that's what happens when you are indecisive for a day or so.

 

DHL's tracking site is saying it's going to get here on the 12th, in which case I will probably be returning it. I'm tired of all the hassle and this is just the last straw.

Edited to add: I called and spoke with a rep at DHL who called the depot and told them to speed up the delivery if at all possible, so we'll see!

 

How'd you get DHL's info?! I don't even have a tracking # yet, lol...

 

Ahhh, they probably can't do anything for you then since they won't be able to find your info. You can try calling Dell's automated order status line and see if that has been updated with your tracking number yet.

Stella if you don't mind my asking what sorts of hassles have you been having to deal with?

I usually do the next day shipping but then I usually get systems from the Outlet so they are already ready to go basically. I figured since I have to wait I might as well take advantage of the free shipping I'm always offered.

 

Just general problems with the original order, problems with them not wanting to honor a change in pricing 24 hours after I ordered my computer, problems with a rep telling me she would do something that I was later told she was not authorized to do. I was about to cancel my order last week, but they offered me a discount along with the upgrade to overnight shipping. That was acceptable, but now that I haven't actually received overnight shipping I'm pretty upset about the situation.

 

Mine too! And the date is not changing at all as a week has gone by in that status.

 

Your order date won't change until it actually ships--mine was still showing as shipping on the 13th until it actually shipped today.

 

I just looked at my order invoice and in the top right corner I saw this:

Im kinda ticked that they sent it with FedEx i prefer UPS, they generally have a better, more reliable service.

FedEx is like the Dell of delivery.

 

I would have preferred UPS or DHL, but hey, what can someone like me do? My package is already on its way

 

At least where I live FedEx is much better. UPS is always late where as FedEX always gets it to me on time. I have dealt with UPS many times and refuse to use them as an option now. FedEx always gets me the item a day early or on time. UPS is a hit or miss on whether its going to come that day or possibly the next day.

DHL I have had very limited use with. Seem pretty good but I have had all of two items through them.

Also on a side note, minus FedEX Home I have always had an easy time picking up packages. UPS again can sometimes be a challenge.

From my experience UPS is 2nd rate when compared to FedEX.

At least through Newegg most people prefer Fedex for there electronics

 

I think DHL is the best of the lot, fedex 2nd, USPS 3rd, UPS last. At least my experiences.

Well I'm now in the Testing stage. And this after placing my order only on Friday. Very cool!

 

I ordered mine on 27th and they said mine is in back order for 15 days. One order day difference=a week difference in shippment. (I'm in Canada as well est.date July 23)...It's so frustrating.

my online order just says "in production" but i can call the 800 and it says "in production-building"

 

Yes, the 800 number is more percise with the order status than the online checker

 

I ordered on 6/28 - Was still building 7/6. Just went in Boxing today... so hope it ships tomorrow/day after.

i don't know dvsk...i'm at build stage too, and i know the lcd for my 1420 is on backorder or something along those lines...based on that, the build stage can take another 2 weeks for all i know

The boxing stage should be 3-5 days, usually 3 days. My 1520 just shipped today and it was in the boxing stage last Thursdays.

 

Bah, I was hoping they'd be "boxing" through the weekend. Anyone else want to post their times (how long from order to test to boxing to shipping)?
