What is the estimated shipping date for your 1420/1520/1720?

I just got off the phone with Dell, apparently since I ordered the 1520 with the max screen, it is "back ordered" so I'm looking at a delivery time of July 17

just chatted with dell, the lady said my order was being "followed" (whatever the hell that means!)

she also said there was no backorder item in my config. i then asked her about the LCD in my sig, and she said no, they have it

 

Awesome, my notebook shipped early. The estimated shipping date was 7/19, but they shipped it yesterday (7/9). I hope you guys get early shipping too!

Mine was ordered on 6/30, with an estimated shipping date of 7/24. It was shipped yesterday, but the DHL tracking number still only tells me that "shipment data received". I keep refreshing the page hoping to get a delivery date.

 

usually takes up to one business day for tracking number to get picked up and info to be available with DHL.

that said, DHL is by far the best for delivery of these things in my area. i hope i get to see my bud the dhl man when mine comes, havent seen him in a while

Yeah, I've had the tracking number since yesterday, and usually by this time they've updated the website with the estimated delivery day. Hopefully I'll have something by later this evening. It will probably be delivered the day nobody will be at home.

 

What does the boxing stage mean? Mine has been in there for the past day.

 

What from I can tell, when your notebook is in the boxing stage, it is put on a pallet with other notebooks and shipped to Nashville on a chartered air cargo plane. There it is put in the shipping box along with the manual, power cord, etc. It is then picked up by the shipper who will bring it to your door. At that point your status changes to shipped, and you get your tracking number.

 

this is absurd. are the high-res screens in backorder? i orderd July 3rd and its not shipping till August 9th.

 

does anyone know what stage is before the build stage? does the build stage mean that they have all the parts together? because if so, then the delay on the widescreen high-res screen isnt an issue anymore.

 

There is a pre-production, but i believe that the screen issue is during the build stage, my sig has been being "built" since thursday.

 

ah damnit, so the high-res screen delay is still in effect.

 

Mine's shipped as of today. Order was 7/6 and original estimate ship date was 7/19.

 

Mine got shipped today too! Apparently its in Texas, so I should expect it in 4-5 days to reach Canada then 2 -3 days to reach Ottawa. WOOT WOOT!!!!! Cant wait for it

 

Oh and if this isn't obvious, and i'm sure many high res soon-to-be owners will agree,

do you have your tracking number yet or is yours still in transit to the carrier? mine says shipped as well but no tracking number and no carrier listed. If it is in transit how long does it usually take to reach the carrier?

 

Hey guys I was switched into the boxing stage last night and am still in the boxing stage as of right now. How long did it take for your guys for the boxing stage and what would be next? Thanks

 

Afaik boxing takes can take 2-3 days, boxing includes shipment to the U.S. from what i understand. Next it is shipped, it takes~1 day before it is in the carrier's(sp.) hands.
This is from other posts, if anyone can confirm i would appreciate it.

 

so, what's the general feeling here? people who have got it shipped so far had ordered before 27th June? Anybody who ordered it on July 2 or after got it shipped?

I have a tracking number. Mine went to boxing on Monday afternoon and went to shipped sometime between 6am and 1pm today - that was when I checked online and found shipped status was listed and my tracking number present.

It says it is coming from Dell in Sparks, NV via DHL. And that's only 340mi away.

 

Incidentally, I emailed Dell yesterday and heard back this morning that the 1680x1050 monitor is on backorder.

 

I must wait till August 17 to receive my 1721!!!!

I was frustrated with my shipping date of July 31 (I ordered June 30!), especially since during my customization online it had an "estimated" ship date of July 15, so I had chosen the cheaper shipping option of 3-5 business days.

Finally fed up today that I wouldn't even received my laptop before I needed it for school, I called Dell and spoke with 2 representatives. They upgraded me to overnight shipping for free, plus took off the $20 charge I was going to pay originally for the 3-5 day shipping. AND, the representative claims that he spoke with his manager and somehow changed it in the system to expedite the completion of my system to get it to ship out and arrive earlier.

Woo hoo!

 

5.5 days from order to receipt for all my stuff. Pretty impressive for a brand new system and free ground shipping.

 

i dont understand why people dont get that virtually everyone has had a one month shipping date. Thats basically everyone who didnt order it as soon as it went on sale. Pushing yourself up the line also pushes everyone behind you back.

There was a shipment of 1680x1050 screens, my sig just went from build stage to boxing overnight. This doesn't mean the screen isn't back ordered still, just that they got some in, probably just enough for me . But there is movement with the high res, just so everyone isn't too upset

 

I had to reorder my 1520 last night because DFS screwed me over and cancelled my order....Just checked mine and it is boxing stage after 24 hours and I had the 1680X1050 screen...of course I also got my order expedited too.

 

mine went into boxing (last stage before shipment) sometime in last three days. I think I can expect it to arrive next week. YAY!

This also means that high resolution (1440x900) screen in 1420 is no longer back ordered. Good news for other folks who ordered the same.

 

idk about that, they may not have received enough screens to fill everyone's orders.

Well, i called yesterday and they told me boxing stage, today i checked on the internet and it has been shipped.

 

i don't think "shipped" means actually shipped

mine says its shipped, but on DHL it says "address confirmed" or something like that...sounds dell sent them shipping INFO but not the actual laptop yet...could be wrong...hope im wrong

 

you mean "shipment data recieved"? It probably means its being sent to DHL, or its getting ready to actually ship.

 

It's not like I meant to cut in line! I was frustrated NOT at the month-long wait, but the fact that the estimated ship date was half a month earlier while I was choosing my options, therefore I chose the longer, more economical ship time. Once I received my actual ship date I realized it fell right on the days I'm moving across the country for school, so I called to upgrade my shipping to overnight (albeit, hoping for a free upgrade since everyone else on these boards seems to have done so) in the hope that it will arrive the day before I move.

After explaining my situation to the rep (which I explained to him only in the hopes of getting the free shipping upgrade), HE took the initiative to expedite my order so that it will hopefully indeed arrive before I pack up and move, thus helping me avoid all sorts of complications that would ensue should it not end up arriving before I'm gone.

So no need to point fingers or be mean, I didn't ask for it, but because they're looking to avoid angry customers, they did it on their own.

 

I don't understand the logic in this...

I ordered my 1520 on 7/2 and it said the shipping date was 7/31...

the day after, I went to check the Dell site and it says the shipping date is 7/16.

How does that make sense? How is that even fair? I ordered mine before people who ordered it the day after mine obviously...

 

Mine shipped today. Haven't got the tracking number as yet. It was estimated to be shipped on Aug 6th.

 

Yeah, I really confused about when mine is arriving, I went to check the order status on the website because I got a text message this morning..

It says shipped... but estimated delivery date is Aug.6th..... I'm assuming that it should come earlier then that.

Should I call Dell(Canada) ?

God this pisses me off I ordered mine on the 28th and it still hasn't shipped yet so many of you ordered a week after me and are already showing shipped....
