I oredered mine 1/18, so that's pretty fast I think

 

Yep. Seeing as I ordered almost 2 days before and we are in the same stage. I had issues with debit card payment (limit of 1000 daily) as well though.

I also opted for the 1400 screen which they say delays your order....

 

boo, they won't change once order is submitted.
Oh well, I can always get an external if space becomes a REAL issue for me.

 

if you want it that bad....why not just cancel and reorder?

 

Hey ordered the 1400 screen too. Maybe I'm just lucky On the other hand, the order status is still in the boxing stage (2 days now), I'm kinda wondering what they throw in there that makes this stage so slow

Apperently you can, that is if it hasn't been shipped out yet. I saw it somewhere in the Customer Service section. I may look it up for you now.

I ordered the 1440x900 screen as well (on the 19th) and i've been in boxing since monday.

 

I just got a call from a lady I spoke to last week about downgrading my ram and she told me she'd keep me updated on my order status. I was like yeah...mm hmm watever...

so she calls me and tells me my order should ship within 2-3 business days. My expected delivery date is 2/7 - 2/11

and she said it will most likely ship before they said....which I already figured out

She really didn't tell me anything I didn't know. It did feel good to hear a real person say it rather than that automated lady though

 

Mine was shipped today It is such a relief when I checked the Dell website and found out that the Order Status had been changed to "Shipped". They haven't had the shipping info on that page yet, but when I called them they told me my tracking number and carrier (DHL of course).
So I guess yours should be shipped soon. Good luck

 

sweet, if yours was ordered the day before mine, i'd imagine mine will indicate shipped this evening or tomorrow.

which means i have to jump through hoops to get it saturday, as it's being shipped to my work. i won't be there.. argh. maybe pick it up at the hub or something.

I'm pretty sure that the boxing stage also includes shipping the laptop to somewhere in the states. Can anyone vouch? That's the only reason I can think of that would make the boxing take so long.

 

My boxing stage lasts 2 days (or more), and I've no idea what they did with the boxes lol
Anyway, the estimated delivery date has changed for my status. It is now 1/25! Yay, my precious lappy's gonna arrive soon

 

Bah, apparently not so for the UK. I can't find anything comparable on the UK site.

I tell you what, I may just call them instead, see what I can get out of them.

They probably just repacked one of the grainy screen ones that someone sent back. LOL

The good:

attempted delivery 1/25 at noon today (quick turn around)
I got the hi-res screen so hopefully it doesn't suck. I'm going to turn it on and ignore what brand it is. If its not bright the whole laptop is going back.

The bad:

DHL sucks. . .I had dell call them to have them not attempt delivery, leave the package at the facility. I get a call from DHL saying "Dell said you told them to send the laptop back to them" wtf?

Hackintosh/ubuntu M1530 here we come b/c I can't stand Vista in any flavor.

 

I hope they dont do this, i ordered mine on the 24th and they were trying to arange delivery on the 26th 2 day!!.... seems a bit quick to me?

Mine was delivered and it's awesome, except for a huge freaking hump in the middle of the keyboard. *le sigh* other than that, I ended up with an LG 1440x900 screen that absolutely rocks, so hey. I'm happy. I'll manually flatten the keyboard and rock on with it, because it truly is a badical machine.

 

Purchased: 1/27/08.
Estimated Shipment: 2/7/08.
Estimated Delivery: 2/8/08. (I got free shipping; interestingly enough, Dell had free shipping regardless of what shipping method I picked, so I'm all like GET THAT THING TO ME PRONTO)

Well I've been reading too much of this forum over the past couple days, so I thought I'd post. Hopefully it will bring me good luck in my wait for shipping. Great forum, by the way.

I ordered my XPS M1530 on the afternoon of Sunday Jan 27th and it was confirmed right away. (Dell preferred) I just ordered the "Better" deal, standard. (Tuxedo Black)

Estimated Ship Date: 2/7/08

It was in "boxing" yesterday and is still in boxing as I type this. I didn't upgrade the shipping, even though I could've gotten next day free. (I emailed them to see if I could upgrade since it's free and she said I would have to cancel the order and start over.. bleh)

I just got an automated phone call a couple minutes ago from Dell saying thank you for your recent purchase, here's the XPS tech support number, yada, yada. Could this mean it's been finalized and ready to ship? (Note: I had already gotten the call confirming the order.) I'm sooo excited! My last lapper (an HP) crapped out on me, so I've been without a laptop for about a year now.

Does DHL standard delivery usually come pretty quickly? I'm having it delivered to my office in a fairly decent sized city, so I'm hoping for the best... Well first things first, I'd be happy with a shipped confirmation email!

Interestingly, I found out it had shipped by checking on the Dell website. (for the 23403457th time.. can't believe it finally changed to Shipped!!!) I had set it to email me when it shipped, but so far I haven't gotten an email. Maybe it gets reset to not email you if you log on to check the status on the site? I suppose not everyone is OCD!

I'm really hoping it will arrive by Friday (2/1), but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I live in a decent sized city, close to Minneapolis/St. Paul, so I don't think it's entirely out of the realm of possibility that I could be jamming on my new toy this weekend!

I'm excited, but I have to admit I do regret not getting the WXGA+ and a better processor. (got the 7250) I changed my desktop PC's res to 1280x800 and it was completely painful to look at... Hopefully the XPS is optimized for it. And hopefully I get a niiiice screen!

Dude, our Dells are probably gonna be on the same plane! Man.. I hope they use a plane.. Same order/ship dates and I'm about an hour from Iowa. (hour south of Minneapolis)

I've gotta ask, how did you get your Estimated Time of Arrival? I've been looking everywhere.. My selfish hope is that they fly into Minneapolis and I'll get mine Friday! Not bloody likely, but a guy can dream!

Heh. We can hope. I would love for it to arrive on Friday. It would sure make my weekend of work a lot more enjoyable.

As for the ETA, I checked the status and it showed that it shipped today and should arrive by Monday. There was no tracking info available, but the status page claimed that date.

I live in Decorah (northeastern corner), so we are pretty close. My LoJack disc came today and went through Cedar Rapids, IA. I'm not sure if that's the same route my computer will take, but it'd be nice to get it earlier (as in, perhaps airborne through the Twin Cities).

Well it appears that yours must be a bit ahead of mine. I just received confirmation within the hour that the Lojack has shipped and still nothing about ETA on either it or the lapper. I just see a bunch of NAs. It's no worry. I'll cope through the weekend, but maybe.. just maybe..

I got a "shipped" notification for my LoJack stuff, but not for the actual laptop. ; ; Let it be known that I envy you other 1/27 orderers who have their laptops on the way...

 

Exact same situation here! I hope it doesn't arrive Saturday cause I had it shipped to work.

 

Ditto for me! I'm holding out hope that it will arive tomorrow, but I haven't even gotten confirmation that DHL has it yet. I don't think DHL delivers on Saturdays, though, unless you specifically ask (and pay) for it.

 

Does anyone know if Dell works around the clock to make their computers? I ordered my M1530 at around 8 pm last night and obviously the weekend will intervene but does anyone know if Dell will continue production on my laptop and box it etc over the weekend so that I have it maybe on Wednesday?

 

Yeah they should. I ordered mine Sunday night and by Monday morning it was in boxing. (could've been earlier, but for sure it went into "Production" on Sunday)

I believe they're made in Malaysia too. Not sure of the time difference or hours they work over there though.

 

Very very good thank you I certainly hope that my computer comes mid week then! Oh and also do new M1530's still come with the headphones cloth and pouch for carrying the laptop? I saw no mention of it anywhere on the site.......
