Ok so you have about 4 hours on me as far as you ordering. Did your order JUST change to boxing or has it been for a while?

It went to boxing sometime yesterday. I called around 730pm and it was in boxing. I had checked before that online and just saw the "in production" which is what it still says. Do you know if they work on the weekends? If not, it will probably stay in boxing until at least Monday. I wouldn't think it would take much longer that to put a finished system in a box (at least I hope not).

How in the world do we order at nearly the same time and my order is so far behind yours...it still hasn't left the "build" stage. And yes they do work over the weekend in every factory. Keep in mind that "Boxing" also includes your computer being flown to the US to be then shipped out to you.

I would rather mine sit in boxing and be flown to the US then still be sitting there being built...or not and just sitting there.

I ordered mine on Feb 1st. Can anyone tell me where I can find the automated order status number? I got next day shipping but we're leaving for vacation on the 8th. The 7th would be my last hope until after the 14th. I'm just a bit excited. :D

THANKS Bowlerguy92 ! I'll give them a call but they added 7 days on to my estimated ship time (Feb 18th) from the original estimated date so I bet I'm out of luck. Probably has something to do with the parts shortage. A girl can always hope though right

For those of you that got your XPS notebook in a week or less, did you order yours the way it was first listed "starting price" without adding anything or did you actually build your XPS?

I'm thinking the reason it take some longer is because some of us add a few things "build Yours" to the starting price XPS?

Have any of you actually "build yours" with a lot of changes get yours in a week or so?

Hey good to hear the laptops are being cranked out! I just got mine this morning at work. It arrived right when DHL said it would. (Lojack came with it - separate package) Everything seems to have arrived intact and in good working order. It really is a nice package overall.

I reinstalled Vista and got my wireless going with no problems. Hello from my couch! Next up is to get a couple games installed and see how they run. This thing's a definite beauty! I'll check back in a bit. Good luck with the deliveries!

Heya Bowler, glad to hear your baby is on the way! Yeah opening apps is pretty much instant and my machine has slightly lesser specs than yours. It's really a sweet machine. I don't really have any complaints. If you move your head to the side a bit, you can see the picture start to... fade in the corners and sides, but it's mostly with darker colors. Overall it really is a beautiful screen. I think I got the CPT, the Chunghwa.

I tried to get Civ 4 running and once I DL'd a patch it seemed to be ready to fire up, but it said there was another update available, which I DL'd and now it doesn't work. I'll chalk that up to a possible glitch with the patch (didn't try it a second time) but it definitely didn't like Vista right after the initial install.

After that I tried to install Half-Life 2 and it went off without a hitch (took a while, though) and when I fired up the game it chose all the highest settings and it seemed to look great and run really well. I didn't check FPS or anything, but it seemed smooth for the minute or two I tried it.

Well cheers! Back to more messing around with this thing..

I was just calling about the status of my order when I got a call from Dell confirming my shipping and billing addresses. She told me to expect it within the next 2 business days- My status by phone still says it's in the build stage. I hope she's right- that I'll have it delivered within the next 2 business days. That would be very cool! (I got free next day shipping on my order.)

Mine was ordered Jan 29 and had estimated delivery Feb 18 but they emailed me Feb 4 stating it has shipped. As I said earlier, I think there was some part shortages that got filled, maybe it depends on what options you chose.

My computer page has been updated and is now showing it as shipped and the delivery date as tomorrow! I have also become friends with a Dell rep who has given me the real information about my computer and shipments etc. Well he wants to play some BF 2142 with me once I get it as I gave him my details. He also notified me that my printer will be shipping tomorrow and that Fedex is the one shipping my laptop!

That's good to hear! I almost creamed my pants when mine came a day earlier than expected. I even got an LG screen on my Vostro 1500. Unfortunately, the screen looks immaculate, but there is a stuck green pixel and I do graphic design and can't live with that.

They are overnighting me a new system with barely any questions asked. I just hope it's still an LG, and I hope it has no issues. Other than that, I love this lappy!!

Yeah DHL handles their shipping. They were fast too. I was on the phone with a DHL customer service rep on the morning that my laptop was delivered, and even he said it would be coming the next day. As he was talking to me, the laptop was already out for delivery, they just didn't update the status right away.

Hello everyone :) I was just posting to say I ordered my XPS M1530 on 2/08 over the phone and I called today (2/09) to check the status and it said is was in boxing status already. When I talked to the guy building my comp I told him I needed it by next week so he told me he would expedite my order. Now I would say this is truly fast if its really already in the boxing stage but I have my doubts. Has anyone else here ever had there order put together this quickly or do you think there is probably an error here?

This is my first laptop btw, very excited about it :)

Dell is pretty fast! I ordered mine on 2/01 and the ship date was the 18. I got it yesterday, 10 days early!

BTW, I'm extremely happy with it. It was Christmas in Feb! Got the LG screen too. See:
