***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

Not sure, I think it was updated late friday evening...

 

;o Mine went from order to pre-production to shipped in 2 days. Although, still hasnt arrived yet, been in some docklands warehouse for 2 days ;[

 

Ordered mine on April 24th, status changed from order to pre-production the same day. It still says my XPS is in pre-production. Does anyone know how long have we got to wait to get the product to production ?

mine was ordered on the 4/21, in production the same day, shipped, 4/25, est Deliv Date, 4/29 so if DHL doesnt screw up ill have to soon. To bad DHL didnt pick it up til late friday, and it just moved from the pickup location in TN, to allentown this morning coulda had it today.

I ordered mine on April 18 and the website status indicator still indicates "April 28" as the estimated delivery date even though it is April 30. I thought the whole point of being able to check your status on the Web was that you could get updates as things change.

I'm in the same situation except my ESD is the 2nd. Its now the 1st and still in production. I highly doubt that will switch in one day. I'm quite frustrated as we have no clue of when its going to arrive

Hey Wilhelm: you may wait for a while. I ordered on April 14 and still waiting. I called, and my sales told they are waiting for a component on the motherboard to be shipped. And it won't arrive until next week. so let's keep waiting!!!

Mine changed to "shipped" today! but my carrier status is still unavailable. Does anyone know how long it takes to ship the laptop? (to Canada specifically). and do they ship on weekends?

 

Awesome! I just got mine today after I reordered on Monday. Just the regular old 160gb HD and 1440x900 screen.

 

I ordered mine on April 18, originally given April 28 as the estimated delivery date. When I called them today (May 2), they gave me June 2 as the estimated delivery date. The temptation to cancel and order a MacBook Pro is getting more difficult to resist.

 

I ordered mine 4/17. They told me ship date was 5/9 and etd was 5/14-5/16. Finally got an update yesterday and it was shipped and is supposed to be here by 5/6. It would be nice to receive it tomorrow, but highly doubtful.

Got the lojack software a week and a half ago. Still waiting on XPS. After tomorrow, planning on reporting my XPS stolen via my lojack. Dell is the prime suspect.

Arranged a return for the CCFL version of 1530 I received 3 weeks ago.

Placed an order for the LED version on 05/05.
ESD 05/14 (hope it doesn't lie).

Although on Dell Canada's website, both the T9300 and the LED panel say "May delay delivery of your 1530"... Oh well, as long as I can get it before sending this old one back, I'm cool.

Has jumped from Step 2. Pre-Production to step 4. Delivery Preperation within 12 hours.

To say the 2 x 8800gtx graphics cards were going to hold it up by 6 weeks it has moved along quickly.

Does this seem right? I have never dealt with Dell before, and i have read some strange messages on this forum, some people are waiting months when they expected a quick delivery, and other people like me have been suprised by how quickly it seems to be going.

Are Dell giving everybody bogus delivery times just to make them look good when it arrives earlier than quoted?

 

Its all a crapshoot NickRose. Delays and deliveries faster than expected are all functions of Dell's JIT (Just in Time) inventory policy. It all depends on when your order comes in vs. when Dell's factory in Malasia receives parts and components. My LED LCD was also on the may delay order list (which it did). Was supposed to ship on 5/6, but is looking like I will get it sometime next week. Entering my 3rd day of boxing stage

 

I'm gathering--from reading over this thread--that Dell is generous in the ship dates on the M1530 ... I hope that's the same for mine.

Dropped $1,750 on a basically maxed-out M1530 (T9300 processor, 4GB memory, 250GB 7,200rpm HD, BT, 8600M GT video card, Sound Blaster Xtreme sound card, etc.) last night and they said my projecting shipping date was June 28th!! I couldn't BELIEVE that ... I hope it comes a little earlier than a than two months from now, which is basically what it is.

It's all because of the Xtreme sound card ... but since it's a separate device (goes into the ExpressCard slot, as I'm sure everyone knows) I'm hoping they an just ship it separately at a later date than the actually laptop.

I'm kinda' peeved about it. I can't believe that they're SO backed up it takes 2 months to build and ship one of the most popular computers they've ever produced.

 

I feel your pain ski merlin. Day 4 of the boxing stage with weekend upon us. Looks like I am going to hit my second est shipping date of 5/12. Going to be three weeks since my order next Tuesday.

 

I just ordered mine on thursday, ESD is May 30th and deliver between 6/4 to 6/6.. Hope it arrives sooner, like before the end of may..

2 Calls and all I got was next day shipping and a promise to "Prioritize" the bloody thing.

 

I have ordered almost the same laptop on 4/28/2008 and it is still in production but Dell site states that it should ship out tomorrow. So we will see.

Going to chime in as well. Been lurking the Dell forums for almost a month now in anxious anticipation for my xps1530 to be delivered. Here's my order status thus far.

1st Est. ship date: 5/7/08 - delayed on 5/7
2nd Est. ship date: 5/13/08 - delayed on 5/13 with FTC approval requirement
3rd Est. ship date: 5/20/08

FYI as per the "Getting Money Back..." thread, I've called 3x so far to see what they're willing to do for me via compensation (ie 9cell battery, addtl extended warranty, or the popular $200 discount). The responses each time: "We don't do that. Sorry for your trouble, you can cancel your order if you like." I must say... pretty poor on Dell's end considering the IT co. I work for is a freakin' Dell partner.

 

My order has just been delayed. My new ESD is 05/20/2008. I was told that it is because of the LED screen.

 

Hang in there martinj- got my XPS at lunch today. The LED looks awesome. I had to sit through a delay but it was worth it.

 

I got word from a business support agent (I was calling to confirm another order status, and squeezed in a inquiry) that my order was B/Oed for lack of batteries. Didn't a battery warehouse burn down here awhile back? I know the LG LCD factory in China torched back in February.

i placed an order for xps with dell europe on 09/05/2008
my edd is on or before 23/05/2008. But still now(15/05/2008) my order is in the pre-production stage. can i expect a delay more than the edd or it wil arrive on edd.

 

Just got my email that it will be delayed. No new status for when it will be ready to ship yet...

EDIT: Ship Date May 29th. Looks like I have to cancel and find something else.

 

Hi everybody, I placed the order for my XPS M1530 on May 1 and the shipping date was moved from May 15 to May 29. I have contacted Dell several times and they will not give away any upgrade or compensation, I too got the same answer "You can cancel the order if you like"... those days of Dell taking care of us are long gone... As per the reason for the delay, both the 6-cell and 9-cell batteries are backordered since the manufacturing facility burnt down not long ago (was on the news).

Before hanging up with Dell they were kind enough to tell me "the manufacturer says it would take a month from TODAY but it could even get further delayed..." and by TODAY they meant May 15.. so you just do the math... so sad there are not other laptops in the market as cool and tempting as the XPS... well... looks like a long wait ahead of me.

I gave up. I need a laptop before that. Cancelled and grabbed another laptop at Best Buy. Not my preferred solution, but it will fill my needs for now.

I spoke to my Dell rep on 5/13/08 and she said those HDDs were still back-ordered? Ordered mine on 4/28/08 and have an Est. Ship Date of 5/28/08.

 

Maybe he'll have a prolonged boxing stage of 8 days?

Yes, NotNoRmAL, I was waiting on the 250GB 7200RPM HD.

I was told on Thursday, May 1st, by a Dell CSR, that my HD was delayed and would be in stock within a week. On Saturday, May 10th, the same CSR called me and told me the HD was in stock and that it was no longer causing a delay. Supposedly my 1920x1200 screen was now delaying it. Then, this past Tuesday, the 13th, I called the automated status check and it told me I was in 'Testing' stage. That night I called again and was in boxing. Last night I called and was told it had shipped.

So I'm not certain entirely what's going on with 250GB 7200RPM drives...apparently a huge number of people ordered those, though, more then they expected.

 

Nah, 48 hours is what my boxing stage took...

 

Called CS today, spoke to 2 very nice people who did their best to help me out (even though it sounds very scripted).

My basic order background:

I wasn't going to wait nearly 2 months to get it. So she gave me upgraded next-day shipping and gave an "expedited production order" to the production team. I'm guessing that it means that she's going to tell the assemblers to "assemble it faster" but who really know what the heck that means.

AS OF TODAY ~3:00pm EST, the ONLY thing holding the production up right now is the 6-cell battery. Which means the 250G 7200rpm HDDs, and the WXGA+ LCDs (non-LED) are in stock now. The Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme sound cards are also in stock now, too. We'll see how fast I get it now ...

 

Ordered last night. Ship date is the 3rd of June. Order status is in Production.

To my knowledge I ordered no parts that were in demand or out of stock.

 

don't make it sound like your laptop is the only one being "produced". Join the rest of us.
