Lol. Making that Asus sound like a gun.

I've seen a few people say they got crappy screens on 1680x1050.
-
I guess if we didn't feel like we got a good deal on our Dell orders allot of us wouldn't keep hanging on. Asus was my 2nd choice (Lenovo T61p seems to be having too many issues along with poor customer service) but the 1530 I have on order is actually less $ than the Asus and I am getting more. That and I have had Dell laptops since, heck I can't remember the year, but it was like the first a Dell Inspiron & it was a tank, I think it was a 486Mhz. All have been good to me except a Latitude that I bought for my son to go to college with and it didn't make it 4 years, AC input problem killed it which I think I read somewhere about a class action suite around that issue...
-
-
Am I really sticking up for Dell at this point.......... -
I also got the 1680x1050. I hope its a good screen...and that stuff isn't to small for me.
I don't know what i'm going to do if they don't make the ship date. I probably won't cancel...I can't get anything similar for the same price. -
-
Yeah...its not bad.
I regret not getting the LED screen. That is all I would change, but i'd never cancel my order. I'd have to wait a long time to get a similar price again.
But its all good. Maybe it'll ship this week...and be here early next week.
I might have to take a day off work to play with it, depending on when it comes. -

people are complaining about with regards to the crappy Samsung display. The other thing I read that people seem to complain about is the touchpad. The synaptics touchpad on my current XPS M140 is great, but I guess the one on the M1530 leaves something to be desired. And I never use an external mouse. It's not convenient for how I use my notebook, generally.
I still have hopes that I'll get my XSP and these will be non-issues. But I won't be crushed if I end up going with the Asus. -
I hate touch pads. I won't use it. I have a mini-USB mouse I use for laptops, and a wireless Microsoft mouse. Touchpads suck.

Totally was not expecting this, but checked yesterday night, order was still in Boxing Stage (Boxing started friday). Today, (Sunday), I just felt like checking my order status for the heck of it (it's 10:50PM over here), and my order status is now SHIPPED!!!!!!!! @%*&@*(%&#@
I'm sure there will be no progress because of memorial day, but through shock and disbelief.... I am VERY pleased to see this:
Date and time Status DHL Facility Location
5/25/2008 4:25 PM Shipment Acknowledged Nashville, TN
It's like a dream come true. I ordered on May 13th, Estimated Shipping Date was June 12th. I was all gloomy and all and was worried if the boxing stage was gonna take many days, but wow.... totally wasnt expecting boxing to be finished in 3 including Sunday. Its its... wow... The order has finally been updated with a Shipped date of 5/25/2008 and an estimated delivery date of 5/29/2008.
I cannot express in words the height of joy I am feeling right now. No more checking for status updates, no more worrying about delays.... just true and finalized knowledge that my order will be in my hands by Thursday at the latest. It's total bliss. Bliss I tell you... BLISS!!!
*Now I just hope it will be the perfect unit I have envisioned, flawless, perfect, stunning, jawdropping... XPS M1530* -
-
You could call Dell up and have them cancel and reorder with the LED. That's what I did. Except I did it 2 days after i originally placed the order. You get all the same price discounts and everything. As long as you are willing to wait another month.... -
Uh, nevermind.
I'm happy for you Forte. Sort of. -
The funny thing is, when I called the phone, this is what they said:
"Your order has been placed in the hands of the carrier. Your estimated ship date is... June 12, 2008"
Though the online has updated status to show today as the ship date and ESD this Thursday.
Whatever the case, I have the DHL tracking number, so there can't be any screwups. -
Hey but at least someone on this forum can tell us whether it's a lemon or not. -
-
I have read somewhere that if you placed an order over the phone it takes priority over an order that is placed online. Did you guys place your orders online? That and maybe the 6-cell is whats causing the delay.
-
Really? I am sure that the CSR's would not admit that. Yes, I placed my order online like I always have. I never knew that ordering on the phone would take precedence over those who order online. That seems weird. Oh well.
-
It was through the live chat online. The sales rep kept asking me if I wanted to place an order now and she could call me. I said that I would wait and place the order online when I decided for sure. She said that sales rep and phone orders took precedence over those placed online since it was assigned to a sales rep or customer service rep so those take priority over online orders since the queuing works differently. I still said no and placed my order online, though I did call CSR to change my order and they replaced the order which resulted in the customer service rep being assigned to it upon placement of the new order.
-
-
Crap. They're closed.
-
Think about it. It's far cheaper for Dell if people place orders online rather than having to pay CSR's to take them. I doubt they'd structure it so orders placed through the more expensive route would benefit the customer. They'd want to discourage using CSR's, not encourage it. -
damn! another 9 celler gets there laptop shipped, given my esd is 6/3 im not super worried at this point, but it seems the 6-cell guys keep gettin screwed over while the 9-cell orders are going very smoothly.
-
I've tried to get them to give me a free 9 cell instead of waiting on a 6. They said no.
I'll try again on Tuesday morning. -
Well, I've ordered mine with WUXGA 1920x1200 Screen
Since, I got known that WUXGA for M1530 are only made by Samsung, I'm a bit worried. But I checked the thread about this screen and people really love it.
I also contacted Dell consultants by chat to get any info about WUXGA. Here is what I've got:
Brightness: 300cd/m2 (just like LED)
Contrast ratio: 850:1
Viewing angles: 60/60/45/45
Seems it SLIGHTLY outperforms WSXGA+
BTW, mine XPS will be shipped tomorrow -
-
I ordered my XPS 1530 May 16th and the ESD is June 3rd. I just called today and its still in the Build Stage.
My Specs:
T8300/4GB/256MB NVIDIA/250GB/Intel N/True Life LCD/6 Cell Battery - Flamingo Pink -
Congrats! I'm glad you are joining us for a while. Keep us in touch about your status, because you are bound to say in Build for a while.
-
was supose to ship may 21 now it is supose to ship june 6th. this is weak. i'm spending 2 grand on this and i expect to get things when I am originally told.

Should ask them if they know what company they are working for and see if they actually know.
-
I placed the order in the website past Sunday 25/05 at 00:15 h.
I got a representative call today and status quickly changed to In Production
ESD is 12/06/08
I hope they don't take that long. -
-
Considering my order had an ESD of June 12th and it shipped over 2.5 weeks early... you should receive it earlier.
-
I can't wait to get it!
Is this like a support group? -
This is getting ridiculous, i'm calling the order status line every few hours now. I need to just let it go and sit tight - but hopefully for not tooo much longer. My goodness...
-
Mine Is In Testing Now!
-
Goodness, this waiting seems ridiculous.
So let me get this straight. On the page that I'm customizing my M1530 on, it says the preliminary ship date is 6/10/08, but that they'll email me the ACTUAL estimated ship date after I place the order. Will the actual ESD be 6/10/08? And how accurate is the ESD they send via email? -
riverside bandits Notebook Enthusiast
They don't send you an email unless they further delay your order. Build stage will take about 10 business days with testing and boxing soon following.
-
While shopping: 7/06/08
After order confirmation: 12/06/08 -
. I am still stuck in the Build stage, though.
