***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

Sorry, maybe I'm stepping over some forum rule but date format varies through the world. In fact I get my ESD from dell as "12/06/2008", so for me 6/12 is 6 of December.

 

It has the advantage of being in Boxing.

I'm relieved. It would have been a tough choice had I gotten delayed. Glad it didn't come to that.

 

Same here. I'm seriously considering the Asus or an Alienware. That Alienware will make the XPS M1530 look like a Ford Taurus, but will eat power faster than you can scream.

 

Has anyone heard about the Inspiron 1535?? I am tempted to cancel my XPS order if they delay my order, and possibly order something else. However I am torn.

I ordered my XPS 1530 on May 16th. I called today and this is the 2nd day of boxing. My ESD is June 3rd.

My specs: T8300/4GB/256MB NVIDIA/250GB/Intel N/True Life LCD/6 Cell Battery - Flamingo Pink

 

You won't be delayed. If you're in boxing, you'll ship within the next day or so.

Just joking. I wouldn't assume you'll be delayed though. Yes, from reading these threads it's easy to assume that everyone is waiting weeks for their orders. But most of us are getting ours pretty close to schedule, and some significantly earlier. Don't start worrying until next week.

My friend ordered an Inspiron 1525 and had it delivered to her within 9 days

 

I've been waiting a month as of tomorrow. Hopefully it gets delievered Friday so I can play with it this weekend.

 

I was in Boxing for Friday, Saturday, and Part of Sunday. It changed to Shipped status later Sunday afternoon. So... 2.5 days.

 

Ok. I've been in boxing for almost a day. I wonder if it'll really ship tomorrow. I guess it depends on when the airplane leaves.

I guess even if it takes one more day in boxing, I can still have it Friday if everything goes right.

 

OK. I'm going to say on board until the M1530 arrives. Delay or not, here I come M1530!

 

It will have to ship EARLY Thursday for you to get it friday. I would think. I was put in boxing sometime in the last 24 hours, and I am not putting my heart on anything before a Monday-Tuesday arrival.

 

I think you should have it by Friday no problem. Using myself as an example, DHL updated everything at the end of the day today. (Its physically impossible for it to be in transit and arrive at Pensylvania from Tenessee in the same minute).

 

Not according to Einstein. You can fold and bend space-time so that Pennsylvania and Tenessee are on top of each other. Then your computer will depart at the same time. Lol. I have too much free time on my hands to think about when my laptop is going to be built. Hmm...

 

All I know is Im sick of playing WoW on a 17' laptop and be stuck on 800x600 because of a 6150g. Gimmeh muh DELL!!!

 

And I thought playing Half-Life in 640x480 was bad. Lol.

 

There is no such thing as a flat line or surface on 800x600 in WoW, its so hideous I quit leveling when my laptop his Boxing, I just cant stand it anymore. Im throwing this DV9000us out a ****ing window monday!

Part of boxing is getting the laptop to your home country I believe

 

From what i've read, it can take 1 - 4 days to go to shipping after boxing. It depends on when the airplane leaves, and if there is one that day. I guess they only fly systems out 6 days a week.

 

I went into boxing this morning, before the plane left I assume. I think more than anything it might be room on the planes aswell.

We know way too much about the process...A little sad we cant just order it and wait. We gotta know the whole process, see pictures of the inside and out of the planes that fly them, the locations they are built, every single delayed part and its cause. The production status aswell, the kiting process..

I was going through withdrawls from not having a new gadget/toy...so I had to go to Walmart last night at midnight and get a GPS unit to play with.

But minutes later I found it was in testing. It was a good night.

 

Haha nice. Some guy just got his dell in boxing state in day 3. Im worried something is wrong here.

 

Meh...depends on what he ordered. Maybe since last months mess up with everything be out of stock, they started stockpiling parts.

 

I too am in the same shoes as some of you who have caught the dell delay flu. I purchased the laptop on the 9th of May and it was supposed to be shipped today. Boom!! I was hit with a delay message around 5pm this afternoon, indicating that my order will be delayed until the 30th of this month. I spoke to the rep on the phone and he told me that it could be further delayed until the 6th or even the 16th of June. WTF!!! Can someone shed some light on Dell's delay business practice. Funny thing is that my friend who order the same spec as mine (except for his hdd is 250GB) three days after I did got his laptop last Tuesday. The following is my config. M1530, T9300, 160 7200RPM HDD, WUXGA, 4GB RAM, 6cell battery. Never know that an budget laptop takes more than three weeks to build. Even a BMW doesn't take more than three days to exit the production line. BTW, does anyone know where the M1530 is made? Your response is greatly appreciated.

OH ****..... Calling them to expedite must have worked, I got changed to Boxing from Pre assembly Kitting over night! Now with my free next day air shipping MAYBE I'll get it on Friday? Probably Tuesday but better than even further down the road!

No thanks, no way could I have gone through your waiting then cancel and wait another month for an alienware. Even if they dollar to dollar they are more powerful.

I am now the proud orderer of a M1530, as of yesterday morning.

Looking at today's times, how long should it take to:

Assemble?
Ship?
Deliver?

The estimated ship date is 6/16/08, and the estimated delivery date is 6/19/08 or so.

Does this look realistic, or should I be looking at it coming sooner/later?

4GB RAM
Vista Home Premium
250GB 5400RPM HDD
8600GT
Intel N wireless

 

It depends on if they like you (and if you ordered a 6 cell or a 9cell?).

I have a very similar computer to yours that I've been waiting 3 weeks for with no end in sight.

 

If they delay you call them and give them hell apparently it helps... Or they just update you on the auto message machine and drag it out more, dunno how long boxing will take for me, but a over a month since I ordered mine with similar specs now.

 

Eek !! I finally decided to cancel my order and buy the comprable Asus because I need to get my laptop before I leave.

Then, I call just now and was told to call back in two hours because their system is down.

 

I ordered a 6 cell battery. How long are we looking at??

Hey there all

My first post and would just like to give you guys a update how it goes over here in the EU.

I ordered one of these guys on the 16th of May with a Estimated Ship date of the 6th of June. So far so normal how it seems. Funny thing, I am typing this on it now. I actually got my laptop Monday, so the 25th of May, a mere 6 business days after ordering.

My config is

T8300, 3GB RAM, 8600GT, 320GB 5400rpm, Intel N wireless, 1440x900 LG screen (niiiice) and a 6 cell battery.

It was built in good ole Poland and yeah, no issues. So it seems like the delays are over in Asia, fun!

Just a little heads up.

 

Gives me a bit of hope. I ordered a different processor, ram, hdd. But, same GFX, battery, wireless, and screen. I can only hope!! ><

 

Noo mine estimated to come 29th but would have came today if I would have been home. One reason I like UPS they usally come later in the day and im home... DHL didn't even leave it with my neighbor and its about 1hr away right now. :*( guess I wont be able to have fun till friday then.

 

I went into boxing two days ago, hoping for shipment soon today!

 

Finally, it has shipped.

 

How long does boxing usually take because I live in NYC and we get everything delivered real fast especially with next day service... My doorman will just accept it if I'm not there.

Just got a delay notice. New ESD 5/30. Been in boxing since Monday.

 

ESD of 5/30 means delivery date of monday at the earliest, I'm hoping I get mine next week too, and then its time to try to get a CSR to give me a gift card for my frustration....

 

Yeah. I'm still hoping for a 5/29 shipping. They had to send me some sort of a delay notice, since it's not shipping today. But I hope it's just one day behind and they just added an extra day as a cushion. It'll be a long weekend if it doesn't go out until Friday (or worse).
