***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

Im lucky honestly, this rental laptop has to be back on the 1st, my ESD wasnt until the 5th, and im in boxing hoping for a Friday or Monday arrival, I wont have to go without a computer! Dell came through after all..

Thats what happens when you get a lawsuit up the ass

 

Ordered a m1530 (see sig) on 05/12/08. ESD is today, 5-28-08. EDD is 6/2/08 - 6/4/08.

I called this morning to check on the status and it is in the boxing stage.

Just received and email stating that it is delayed. CSR said the processor is backordered. New ESD is 5/30/08.

Thank you Dell for showing me what others warned me about.

 

I would be calling CSR and asking how you could of been in the boxing stage if your CPU was backordered, I wouldnt be nice about it either.

 

I don't think his CPU is backordered. I mean, by definition "boxing" means his system has already been built and has been tested. He just got a delay notice (as did I) because he's missing his ship date of the 28th (as am I). His notebook will ship in the next day or two. The fact that a CSR tells a customer that his CPU is backordered when it's already in boxing tells you all you need to know about CSR's. Very seldom does what they tell you have much to do with reality.

 

Still, fighting the point of being misinformed, backordered, and lied to, builds your case for free next day shipping, and maybe a discount. I was given a free 9cell battery after a sales rep named Alvin tried getting me to cancel my order and getting the same order with a 9 cell for 170 dollars more promising me a earlier ship date. The canceling people told me it would take even longer, so then I talked to Alvins manager (after being told that was impossible).

 

Popped in to tell everyone I canceled my Dell order and ordered the comparable Asus. Never realized how many good deals they had on Asus.

Still I wish I had the sexier Dell XPS but oh well..

Hope someone got bumped up when I canceled !!

Cool. Someone bit on the M50sv-a1! May I ask which vendor you went with and how long you'll have to wait for it?

I'm not closing the door on that Asus until the Dell actually arrives and proves not to be junk.

 

Actually I'll be using to play video games occasionally (EQ2/AOC/COD4 etc) when on business trips etc and away from my desktop and the 512 MB on the graphic card and 2.5 cpu with more cache actually better spec for gaming so it ends up being a better deal for me.

Plus I need to have it in my hands at the latest by 6/5 because I'm going on an overseas trip on the 6th.

You're getting an eSATA port and gigabit ethernet too. The Dell lacks these niceties.

 

Whats so great about gigabit ethernet. Who really needs those speeds.

Im looking at Monday being the day

 

I have a home network with 5 desktops, 2 NAS devices, and 2 laptops. I often transfer files (sometimes very large, multi GB) between my notebook and NAS...gigabit is great for things like that,

But for web browsing, yeah...no need.

 

Well, yeah, I have over 11 HD movies and 5 games downloaded via bittorrent onto an old crappy desktop with a Wireless G USB Adapter (routed by Belkin54g(so 5gb+ atleast 16 times) over my Wireless G, and Im sure it wont be that long of a wait. It not a reason to pick one laptop over another I say.

 

I called and spoke to a rep this evening, around 6:00pm, and they said my system was now in the hands of the shipper, but the 'ship date' may be the 29th because it was later in the day. I hope I get it Friday!

And, if my ship date wasn't the 28th, I have some Dell credits coming to me, as I was promised them if they missed my ship date.

 

Well, I never said it was a reason to pick one notebook over another. I merely pointed it out as a nice feature on the M50 that the other guy ordered that is missing from the M1530. Actually, gigabit ethernet is pretty standard on many systems these days. It's really a bit baffling that a system like the XPS lacks it.

But you'll notice that I bought the M1530 anyway.

 

Because you know the M1530 is super sexah :-D

Does it still say "boxing" on the automated order status line, or has that been update to shiiping also? Just curious how up to date that line is? Kinda hoping mine has been transferred to the shipper as well, but that the status is just not up to date.

 

They dont change boxing to shipping until the active first counted "shipping day". From what I've gathered if it shipped before noon that day counts as day 1. So if it gets shipped at 6pm tomorrow you wont know until Friday morning. You also wont get it until Monday if that happens. Do they offer Saturday pickup? Hmm. If it gets to a local place on Friday I wonder if I can go get it.

 

AHHHHH i want me laptop and i've called 3x in the last 5 hours to check, still boxing, but at least its better than sitting in Kitting for 4 weeks... I hope they didn't just update the automated machine to give me hope.

 

Still says on the phone and web that its in boxing. If its in the shippers hands i'll get it Friday...but I won't be suprised if the lady I spoke with was bull****ting me.

Update: Just checked my Asus shipped and its Est delivery date is tomorrow.

I tried a chat first, and all they would tell me was what was displayed on the web site...In Production. So I tried calling a rep, which I'd not done before. All she could say was that it was in Boxing (as it says on the order status line) and that it'd probably ship within "a couple of days."

If there was more detailed micro-information available, my rep didn't seem to have access to it. Maybe yours did.

Maybe. Not sure. Meh. I will call again tomorrow, if nohing is updated, and ask for my tracking numbers. Don't worry...i'll keep you all updated.

 

Well, tomorrow will be the 4th day of Boxing, so there's a pretty decent chance they'll ship tomorrow. The real question is will they ship in time to make the overnight for Friday? Or will they end up with shipping labels and cooling their jets in a warehouse until Friday?

 

They said its with the shipper already...so if thats the case, it will be here Friday.

 

As you see in the thread I just posted, my rep new that I was in boxing for a few days, I didnt tell him anything, just gave my order number.

 

Yeah...when I call I just give them my order number and ask the status.

I am going to call and cancel my order and place it again with a different processor and hard drive.

 

Build stage for me now.

When was your order date? ESD?

Some of us have been waiting 2 weeks. Some waiting 6 weeks. I have been waiting 4 1/2 weeks now.

 

Order date was... yesterday morning hahahaha.

ESD is 6/16/08, and it should arrive here around 6/20/08.

If I have to wait 4.5 weeks to order a laptop, that's pretty bad...

 

Not if you want an XPS M1530. I've been waiting for about 2.5 weeks now.

Telephone and online status show shipped! No tracking yet. I'd still not count on it until Friday, but it's on its way!

Nope. Just called the status line and message was that it had shipped. Checked the online status and it also shows ahipped. No tracking. I'm guessing that it won't really go out until tomorrow, but I still have a fighting chance of a Friday delivery.

Dell never seems to get those emails out until after you actually get the order.

 

Bleh, I called im still boxing. You probally got the Wensday flight and I get tomorrows flight.

My order status online says it will ship on June 4th, and be delivered on June 5th. Seriously...WTF? I was told this evening when I called that it was sent to the shipper.

Gah. I hate Dell.

It was ordered by my wifes employer, as part of the EPP thing. I called, got the quote, she submitted it to her employer, and they ordered it the next day. She gets interest free payroll deductions for it. 18 months I think.

Anyways, so if they emailed anyone, they sent it to my wifes work email. I'll see in the morning if she got anything.

I just hate how when I called, they told me it shipped.

If I don't have it in my hands by the 5th, I am going to cancel. If it has one small problem, I will return it for a refund.

 

Like I've said before, until something hits the profit area they wont react to any problems. The people who get the profit have the power, noone hired to care about customer service benefits from providing good service because they started acting like fools and nothing happened because nothing effected profit..maybe the lawsuit will help, that hits profit lol

Well, this is EPP and I'm not in the same boat. Fountain was waiting, got delayed, shipped the same night. Honestly they don't have **** together, ****! If Dell was a human it couldnt sync up eye blinks.
