Mine has shipped & I got an email. I got a tracking No. which shows that it is/was?? in Sparks NV (just outside of Reno NV) which is 4+ hours drive to my house. It shows that it arrived there at 12am on the 28th so hopefully it will come tomorrow since it's "next day".
After a month of waiting like you mattocs if it isn't 100% I will more than likely return it for a refund. Have you checked the EPP "Total Satisfaction Policy"? I can't seem to find it on Dell's site. Every reference for it seems to be a dead end. For example http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?dn=1057731
I'm trying to confirm the 21 day policy and if there is a 15% restocking fee?
-
I won't return it. I will make them correct every little problem, and then eBay it. Since I got a decent deal on it, hopefully I can recover a good portion, if not all, of the money paid for it.
-
Probably out of topic but I just want to state that you guys get incredible deals and frankly Dell abuses us latin american customers, my 1530 cost me around $,1800, just look at my signature for the specs. It's making me feel really bad.
-
Yeah. Right now if I configure mine, with just the standard "$599 Off" that Dell always offers, it comes to $1900. I got mine when they had the 40% off deal at the end of April, and was able to also get another 12% off from the employee purchase program.
I would have never bought a Dell without a coupon or some big discount. I didn't want to spend over $1000...but I couldn't pass up this deal. -
I thought I got a good deal but I paid for almost 100 more than you, I did get the 1920x1280 screen through same everything else... You think the LoJack and Accident warrantees are any good in practice?
Just looking at how much bloatware is on that makes me cringe though

I just had an online chat with a Dell rep (Hemanth) to see how everything in my order was going.
Right now, I have NO parts backordered and it should ship by 6/9 ... it's still In Production, as it has been since I ordered it. I have the 6-cell battery and the WXGA+ screen (non-LED) so it seems as though all those parts are in.
The only thing that ticks me off is that I ordered the SB Xtreme sound card, too, but Hemanth said that peripherals ship out AFTER the laptop ships out ... so my ESD on my sound card is TWO WEEKS (6/23) AFTER my laptop is supposed to ship out. Redic.
Hope is gets here by 6/10 (overnight shipping). -
The only live chat i see is for techs upport and I don't have a serial number yet because I don't have my laptop yet....
-
Guys, it has been nice getting to know all of you. I have decided to cancel my order today since Dell would not offer any assistance and the many CSRs that I have called have not been especially helpful. I have enjoyed talking with everyone here, and I will remember this incredible journey in ordering an XPS M1530. I laud every single one of you to continue on your quest to a XPS M1530, but I do not want to since I was no longer interested in one. I have ordered the Gateway M-152XL in its place. I wish you all well!
-
I was sure you'd stick it our idq000. Can't say as I blame you though. Dell's service does leave much to be desired. Good luck with the gateway. When are you expecting it?
-
Gateway isn't known for their service either though...
-
-
Shame oh Dell.
I ended up going with the Asus, which is supposed to be delivered today. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4365 -
Wonder why the Community Outreach douchebags dont come here and post on this thread :-D
-
Oh my Gods, status of my XPS is finally "Shipped"
Ordered on 10th of May, after 19 days - IT IS SHIPPED ^_^
BTW, for those who cancelled their orders. There is no other lappy like this in price range, Gateway and Asus M50 have lower performences (because of the slower graphics cards - check benchmark lists). There is an Alienware as well, but I couldn't have chosen a GF8600GT knowing that there was an option to choose 8800GTXSo the choice is clear, even if You need to wait a BIT looooong :/
Hope there won't be any graininess or dead pixels on my WUXGA 1920x1200 screen or I'll tear the consumer service apart :] -
Pursuant to the above-posted link the one in the Asus is better. Also, it has 512 MB on the card itself while the Dell one has ony 256.
" The GeForce 9500M GS is a middle class graphics card from the GeForce 9000M series and the successor of the 8600M GT GPU. " -
I dont think the extra memory helps all that much. And this site has the 8600m GT benchmarked at barely over 3k, whats up with that?
-
they seem to basically the same thing but omg Dell is sexy hawt while Asus is like boring/dull and has a slow harddrive
I just wish Dell could get their act together and do something about the XPS processing/customer service etc. -
@EMK yup, but You didn't consider one thing. The result of XPS M1530 with GF 8600M GT is actually 4200 pt in 3dmark06, 'coz it runs on GDDR3 graphics memory (there is a lot of other results in this benchmarks and many of them come from lappies with GDDR2 memories). And as You can see in this link none of the 9500GS's result comes even close to M1530.
I'm not quite sure if XPS M1530 allows user to allocate more memory from ram to graphics card. Is it possible ? -
For that matter, both the M1530 and M50 are great notebooks. Each has its advantages over the other. Neither is an incorrect choice. -
-
eSATA in M50 would be great, 'coz I'm planning to use an external HDD. But well, does Asus come with WUXGA screen?
And, hmmm, where the hell did Dell take 250GB 7200rpm HDD from? Can't find any HDDs like this anywhere, the biggest ones are 200GB 7200. -
To each his own, but I can't see how that'd be usable. But then my 40'ish eyes aren't what they used to be. perhaps if I was still a young buck...
-
Well, I'd rather say that I understand You, but I'm a bit younger and I don't use glasses. I'm the only one among my friends who's not wearing glasses yet and that's why I want this screen. Hope it won't damage my sight :]
-
Still Boxing, day 4 of it. **** this, **** dell
I just want my laptop and to be done with this ****. CSRs ****ing lie like republicans and they dont care. Matthew_C said I would have my Tracking number by this morning and big suprise its 3PM and I dont. I wont get my laptop until Tuesday probally
Why lie and say my order is in boxing since monday, if it was it could of been shipped by now. -
@Lucasenti, I was waiting 10 days longer, so it's not so horrible in Your situation.
Anyone knows sth about this 250GB 7200 HDD ? -
I'd love if my laptop came tuesday. -
Right, I know, I will more than likely get my laptop before my ESD, which makes me super lucky seeing some things that I have on this site, but why would I be put in boxing on Monday then sit around for a week doing nothing. Why do CSRs lie and say things like "You're at the end of the Shipping queue and will be getting a tracking number tonight or tomorrow morning" Thats just BS lies. Thats why im not happy.
-
I'd be pissed too lol. -
Being in production right now, I wouldnt be paying much attention to my status like I am now until Tuesday/Wensday when I would be expecting boxing to end. I am getting a great laptop, and a not so great price, and a decent amount of time. Until it shows up dead and unuseable (Fountainheads pessimistic ways!)
-
*Ding*Ding*Ding* 30 days after the order is placed, delayed til the 2nd of June!
-
Sorry to hear Nighthawke. My technical heart goes out to people getting screwed over when I get my laptop sooner.
But having a Community Outreach PR person here anwsering a few questions, that makes things better right? :-D -
-
Guys, does XPS still come with XPS Accessory Kit and earbuds? Because I've just noticed that info about this stuff disappeared here >> http://www.dell.com/content/products...=19&l=en&s=dhs
(first screen from the right in XPS Explore). See that empty place beside notebook ? That's where they were :/
When I was ordering they were still there, so someone is gonna pay for that if that won't come with my system. -
I know I want my xps extras!
-
Heh, I better be getting my free extras.
-
-
I'll post back tomorrow and let you know if they were included. -
Just ended chat with Dell. They told me that yes, they're included.
They'll better be... -
I just want my Driver CDs, and the earbuds. The reviews on them accutally seem to be pretty good.
-
Well after a month I finally got my M1530 and I'm not too happy.
Keyboard has hump in it, Samsung LCD and I just fired it up so I can't say much else at this time.
Going to make my decision tonight on what to do. I guess send the thing back but not sure if I want to try Dell again. I'm kicking myself now because I knew these were all probable issues but I was hoping it might be different, should have bought the Asus M50 I suppose. At least the retailers are close to me and sound like they have good support.
I'm rambeling but I'm just kind'a bummed after all the waiting to get the thing. -
They keyboard problem can be solved without much effort. And Im sick of hearing people act like EVERY samsung screen is messed up, Its not a majority of them that are grainy, is yours grainy or are you just mad you got a Samsung LCD.
-
I know I'm getting a Samsung screen too. Fire that up and post back once you have an impression of it.
(Yeah, I haven't deleted the genTechPC bookmark just yet. I figure it's about 50/50 that the M1530 will work out. Dell seems to have some serious quality issues with this thing. A shame, because it could be so nice.) -
-
And I've heard such good things about the 1530...
I wonder why dell is haveing so many problems.. -
Because Im pretty sure they didnt put out hundreds of thousands of "grainy" screens. Plenty of people even here have reported fine Samsung LCDs.
-
-
-
First, message boards like this allow everyone to itemize every little quirk about a system. Grainy screen, bulge under the keyboard, optical drive a little loud, etc. We're all able to sit here and read this laundry list of niggling issues long before we get our machines. When we do, we're able to pour over it and seek out all of these imperfections...imperfections that maybe we'd never even have noticed if we weren't looking for them.
Second, this is obviously a very popular notebook and Dell is clearly having difficulty keeping up. I'd guess that stuff is being rushed through as fast as possible, and QC is taking a back seat.
But who knows. I read through the Asus forums when I was (am?) considering the M50, and while of course there are people with issues there, I didn't see the same 5 or 6 issues being suffered by user after user. -
They keyboard bulge is just because some wires arent in their alloted slots, right? There was a thread on how to fix it yourself. Screens can be replaced yourself or hell have someone come to your house to fix it.
-
Still, I'd be more comfortable with the whole thing if an LG was on the way.
