Does running at 1680x1050 put much strain on the GPU/CPU?
I was gonna run mine at the 1440 res, but apparently if it's lower than native it looks bad...

I doubt it tamponbucket. What I would have gotten next week is another delayed email.

 

I was going to cancel my order this morning. To my surprise, the order shipped! I was like "Ah, Cool." They said I should get it by Monday but I'll just pick it up at DHL station tomorrow since they always open.

And to my bad experience with Home Department. I decided to order a new M1330 for my wife through EPP because EPP take very good care of me. And to my surprise, I'm able to use 25% coupon with EPP and got nice upgrade to T8300 and added bluetooth. And it only cost me 70 bucks more than the original M1330. So, Due to home department rejecting my relay calls (im deaf), My wife will have to call them later today and return this damn thing back to home department and tell them to shove it.

 

If you look, lots of people get delays then ship out. They suck at giving you a EST in the first place, theirs a lack of communication between whoever changes ESDs and the factorys far away. Honestly if they put all production out there why dont they process everything there, they would know what the **** is going on with orders.

But yeah, I shipped before ESD, Fountain got a delay and shipped the same night or the one after I believe. Happened to plenty of people and you're just too impatient.

 

Yup, 25% rebate coupon is again available.

 

So I shipped around between 3-8am. Should I get my tracking information today? Shouldnt the package end up at a local facility I could pick it up from?

 

How can I tell the brand of my WSXGA LCD before the Notebook arrive?

I am really expecting the worse !

On your order status page, the Invoice should show up after it ships. The invoice will have the Service Tag listed. You can then add that service tag to your account and see the details, including part numbers for each item. For example, mine listed:

X167G LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, SAMSUNG..., V2

So I knew I was getting a Samsung.

I just posted on the other side that sitting next to my old XPS M140, the M1530 display is noticably brighter and whiter. The M140 actually looks grainy by comparison. That's not to say that the new Samsung is as good as the LG. It probably isn't. But it's better than my old display, so that's probably why it seems fine to me. The more discerning among you might see it differently.

When is yours due to be delivered. I'm curious to hear your impressions as well.

 

My ESD is wednsday so if that's accurate I probably wont see the laptop until the monday or tuesday after...
I'm sure even the samsung will be better than the desploy on my inspiron 6000 (which hasn't bothered me...although it is kinda grainy...)

 

My invoice isnt available but I shipped this morning.

 

I've heard another opinion about Samsung's WUXGA from a user here:

Now my EDD:6/3/2008, they are so messed up it was 6/13/2008 a few hours ago
but great for me.

 

Mine didn't show up immediately either. Seems like it showed up about the time the tracking number did, though I could be mistaken. Alternatively, some people call cusstomer service and request the Service Tag, but that involves dealing with actual people. I try to avoid that sort of thing.

 

I think its rediculous if I dont get my Tracking number within business hours today.

Well, under the Next Day services information the DHL site it lists Saturday Pickup, so I dont know. If my tracking number updates as being at the local facility in a few hours then I'll call and ask.

 

lol. My Gateway is within 100 miles on my home right now! They shipped it yesterday without my knowing. lol. It'll definitely be here before Monday!

No, there is no saturday pickup available for my local station, its closed Saturdays. You'll have to call and ask yourself.

And if you got the free next day service, its the by 3PM one.

The Gateway as an ATI HD 2600 GDDR3 which is a little bit underclocked. Overclock it a little bit and I will have a NVIDIA 8600M GT equivalent!



Hope you ALL get your laptops soon (or at least on time), especially those who have been waiting for more than a month now! Wow, you guys are the most patient; I could never be that patient!

 

I'll overclock my 8600m GT and turn it into a 8700 :-D

 

How do you overclock, and what are the risks to the GPU/Computer?

 

****ing dell. i call them today to check on my order because the website doen't reflect my new ship date. they are supose to be open from 8 am to 9 pm. I call at like 4 and it says they are closed. i am never ordering from them again. i want my laptop then they can go **** themselves.

 

First you have to find drivers that dont disable overclocking (the newest ones dont let you). Then you download ATI Tools and start to gradually overclock and test for artifacts (distortion).

Risks? Overheating the GPU is depremental to its lifespan and may ruin it. If you go for more than a little bit of overclocking you probally want to redo the cooling inside the laptop and or get yourself a high-flow Cooling Mat. My Targus keeps my 9410us about 8-10c colder.

 

Meh...just doesn't sound worth it too me...
The 8600 should be good enough for anything I do 'out of the box'.
