I never pay for something that doesnt require an online managed account to play.

The problem with capital is that people who make money control the means and make only manipulative moves formulated to make more profit. These companies have made enough money to pay all their employees and the owners to drive porsches, sorry if people like me think they only deserves BMWs.

Look at Record Executives, "What, you mean because of P2P programs I cant afford to do blow off 10,000 dollar hookers every day of the week? Damn it, I cant go doing it every other day!

Vista will stay, its completely able to get under 200mb of ram usage and 8 running processes, I dont really see it being worth the time to put XP on it and not have DX10. (Those five years I had XP :-D)

Holy crap...I bet that takes some skill to drop it to 8 processes...
I don't think I can get xp down to 8...
18 or 19 seems to be the lowest process count I can safely hit on xp...
And I don't have much experience with vista (yet)

Well Saddly the laptop I did this on (DV9410us) decided to crap out with a Alcohol 120% installation and is now junk since its a rental and they have the recovery tools (Its due back on the 1st, laptop shows up on the 2nd, woot woot)

Lots, and I mean lots of processes are expendable.

Yeah, but stuff never travels point to point. I'm in Indiana and my laptop went from Tennessee up to Niles, Michigan and then back down to me. Didn't get scanned into my local facility until 7 AM on the day it was delivered.

I'm sure my ESD is going to be delayed ... with only 9 more days (including today) for the original ESD, it's still "In-Production" online, and "In Pre-Production" on the hotline.

Confusing: The hotline says my ESD is 6/23 (same as when my SB Xtreme sound card is supposed to ship), but online it's 6/9.

I'm gonna' be pissed if that's the case. Now's not the time to be complacent Dell ... you're gonna lose a costumer on this one.

When you call are you putting in your number for just the computer, or for the whole order (sound card and computer)..?

When I check just my laptop on the hotline it says 'in production' with an ESD for the 4th, but when I put in the Dell PID number (the longer one for the entire order) it lists the ESD as the 18th (when my bag is schedualed to ship)...

Also, I'm still in production and my esd is the 4th...You'll probably ship by your esd...

I sure hope so. And I'm putting in my PID number on the phone, but both orders (the laptop and the sound card) come up as 6/23).

Put in just the order number of the notebook. For what it's worth, I had two "orders" listed under my PID...one for the notebook itself, and another for the Lojack Software package. The Lojack part stayed in pre-production until the day the notebook shipped, even though they had the same ESD.

My guess is that the sound card just stays in pre-production until shipping. That's probably what you're getting over the phone. Put in the specific order number for the notebook and you'll get a true status.

Yup...So far that's how it is for me...
The first time I used my PID instead of the individual order number I nearly died...
    The 18th...that's too long :/

They lost me when I got pushed back. :) I decided to go with a Gateway because I ordered a system back in 1998 that still works perfectly fine. That's the only other real brand that I had experience with.

Yeah I thought the days would be easier but now my computer has some issue and is being slower than usual and the days till my laptop arrive are getting longer. At least you have quick shipping. I'll be waiting a couple days for mine after its done.

I don't feel like waiting in line either.. but as of now my research indicates otherwise

My Doorman better not give it to the wrong person.......................................... And I'm trying to figure out why my system was more than mattocs because we have the same specs, oh wait I have lojack and accident I think which is the difference. Otherwise how did you get better than the $650 off, 12% and 10% that I had on mine...

40% of of the normal price durring a Dell sale, then 12% off EPP. And I kept having my sales rep swap parts around to see prices, so maybe he was able just to substitute me a part?

Ok i figured it out, my monitor is $50 more than yours and my tax rate is 3% higher, which makes up for the $90 difference. I still get mine today too though! And yes I ordered on 4/24 or 4/25 too so we probably had the same deal on EPP.

Build time for the system is now down to 5 days (if you don't get something that's delayed) but there's a lot of delays listed for various thing...

The 6 cell adds about 10 days to the PSD :/

HOLY MOTHER OF COOKIES ... IT SHIPPED!!

Got a call today from my (foreign sounding) rep ... shipped as of 3:00pm today and should arrive at my doorstep by 7:00pm tomorrow via FedEx.

They must have saw my angry posts on here ... touché Dell.

    Purchased on 5/9/08
Was in "production" from 5/10 to 6/1
    Went into "boxing" on 6/1
Shipped 6/2 (7 days before ESD)
    Should arrive 6/3

Less than a month turn around, and I had nearly every backordered item that existed.

Unit received. and holy $&(!! what a unit! No dings, no problems, LCD is as clear as a bell.

As for the red carpet treatment I received from Dell, that was part of the package that they got for employees that work for client companies. I feel bad that they could not extend the same courtesy to the rest of their clients.

Mine is HERE. :-D I got it yesterday. WUXGA take some time to get used to. I reformatted with my own vista ultimate. Everything is great. I plan to reformat again when my wife's M1330 gets here as it come with ultimate with SP1. Right now, Vista doesn't show any dell logo in sys information. So I wanted that to be shown. No big deal. Other than that, Everything is great. Except for that LOUD dvd drive that shutter the system when ejecting. Oh well.
