***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

Still in building a week later, wish it was in testing or boxing at least. That'd make my day.

I kind of regret ordering 4gb of RAM and a normal LCD now. I should have gotten 2GB of RAM, and got an LED screen. Oh well, I'll live with what I've ordered

Got mine!!

Well ... not yet. I ordered mine during a one month stay at my parent's house, but since then I've moved out. So my friend is bringing me all 3 packages from my 'rent's house.

Kind of weird: the sound card came today (yay!) via FedEx, along with a package that contained a couple of disks, and the laptop package came via UPS 5 minutes later. Oh rapture.

Should have it in my hands by tonight, and I'll be using the write-up here for a clean 32x Vista install until I decide to go 64x to take advantage of all 4G of memory.

Should be a vast improvement over my 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 w/512mb of RAM on my desktop.

Dell, you've gained my trust back.

 

MY Laptop is actually in my country, more specifically my province. It is about 3 hours away. I probably won't get it until next week. I wish I could just get my brother to pick it up, he works in the same city as where it is and he is coming home thursday.

STILL IN BUILD!

 

So far so good, removed vista and put xp on thanks to the drivers / threads here. I'm busy getting everything set up but this weekend I'll post the video unpack, my initial review and later I'll do a review vs my current XPS 1210.


Screen looks great, the only think that I am already annoyed at is the damn HDD is so noisy! Yikes! I can hear like every spin, very annoying. Good thing I plan on upgrading it, just may have to do it sooner than later.

 

That's pretty sweet. Sorry to hear about the hard drive, though. I must say that this notebook is silent, except for the small whirring of the fan. No funny clicks from this Seagate.

 

In production: Build Stage. . .uh oh.

Haha, don't hold your breath. I'd bet you'll see it before your EDD, but not by much.

 

I've seen all the pictures and reviews and images of the M1530 on the internet.
I'm short of making me a papercraft one.
This PC is slower everyday.

got it today. i am on it now. i don't like vista so far.

 

I actually like vista when I used it for a while...
I can't wait to have it back lol...

My only issue was the overactive UAC but if it bugs me I'll turn it off.

 

Just got it confirmed by Dell. My Laptop is made, sitting there without a 6-cell battery waiting for them to arrive hopefully the next week. Bugger.

 

I wouldn't believe them. They will say anything to get you off the phone.

 

Sadly this was the first time they actually made the effort to actually check, last three times I called they limited to say it would take 10 days in production at most and that they couldn't get any more information -which was a lie to get me off the phone.

I'm affraid this one is true.

 

If they're missing the 6-cell batteries they should just pack them with 9-cells free of charge or whatever. Trying to get the battery changed for the 9-cell model took 1 hour on the phone with no result. At best it would take another full week in build because they say that if I change my order just to change the battery they will have to start over from scratch, isn't that absurd?

 

I tried that, too, and with the same result. When I ordered the only thing out of stock was my hard drive. It came in about 10 days after I ordered. It still took another 25 days after that for my laptop to get to me.

But in the end, I am happy. Dell has been good to me after the sale.

I ordered my XPS M1530 on May, 23. Got to Production Stage on May, 26, and Dell notified me that it shipped on June, 05 (Today).

I had an ESD of June, 12. That was quick!

My laptop has also a 6-cell battery, so, I hope you get yours soon!

I don't get it, I ordered a day after you with a 6-cell battery, but my ESD was the 16th. WTF!
Edit: Called CSR, and they said that there is no delays and it will be delivered either BEFORE or ON the ESD. Go figure...

 

Is that for an Inspiron 1720? They ship much faster than the M1530. Congrats anyway.

 

OK...I am now in testing...since this morning...

 

Ordered on the 2nd. Shipped today. Delivery tomorrow.

Seems like they have their stuff under control as of this month.

 

Hey raindog_mx I have pretty much the exact same specs on my 1530 as you. All except I didn't upgrade the ram yet left it at 2 gb I also ordered on 05/25 as well but my esd is 06/13! That's a whole day later! hah I'm jk I'm not upset I hope we get ours sooon though!

Still in Build... I know still awhile from my ESD, but I have hopes .

Is it wrong I have memorized my order number?

 

I was thinking the same thing the other day. I had a card in my wallet with the number and I forgot my wallet but I realized I had it memorized. I feel dumb because my tri-daily calling isn't going to speed my laptop up.

 

I've got mine memorized too lol...

 

My notebook shows as Shipped today, 6 days before the ESD even when they told me there was a shortage of 6-cell batteries. So far so good. I'm pleased.

Now to wait the 9 - 13 days they say the shipping takes.

Did you get a tracking number? I didn't can get one on the phone...

 

The CSR lady told me they will e-mail me the tracking number after the package has crossed my country's (mx) customs.

 

Did your's go from build to shipping?! Anyhow that is very goood news for me. Hopefully I can expect mine to ship very soon.

 

When did you go into boxing?

 

I never knew the sub-stage because my order was placed in Dell Latin America and they don't have the automated order status option on the phone.

However I was told by a CSR that my order would be delayed at least a week because of the 6-cell batteries backorder and I sort of asumed it would be on BOXING if it wasn't for that. What I did was spend some time on the phone trying to convince them to switch my 6-cell for a 9-cell. All the way I was polite but insistant while trying to become a real pain in the ass for them. I doubt that helped my order but that's what I did.

So, the moral. Bug them until they can't take it anymore.

Or maybe they got the 6-cells early. The order still shows a 6-cell battery.

If everything goes well I should get it by my original ESD.

it's still showing "in production" in the order status.. is it ok? shouldn't it change to build or something like that???

It seems is taking longer than usual although some people have waited as long as two months you should call Dell first thing tomorrow. Keep calling until you get an informative answer or solution.

 

err... just called dell... still in the build stage!!!
esd is still on june 11th.. do you think they'll make it?

Great thread. Hello everyone. My order has shipped but i wasn't home the whole day. I didn't espect it to be shipped at 6/6. My ordered date was 5/27 and my estimated date of delivery was 6/18. 10 days from start to finish. Does dhl deliver on Saturdays?

Just called customer service and got my tracking number but the guy said that it wouldn't be active for a little while and that my computer would actually ship within 24 hours...

And my EDD updated and is set for Tuesday the 10th xD

 

Ordered my XPS1530 on the 31st and got an email today telling me it would arrive on Monday, the 9th. Estimated ship date had been the 19th of June.

 

When did it ship?

 

My EDD was pushed back from 6/10 to "6/11/2008-6/13/2008"
oh well...a minor setback...

Dell seems to have stepped up since last month.

I am still pissed I waited 5 weeks...and even though I have a replacment coming because I didn't like the screen on this one, it was worth waiting 5 weeks.

 

Order status line now says that my laptop has shipped, it is in transit to the carrier, and tracking info isn't available yet...
It shipped yesterday...what are the odds I'll see it tomorrow?

My tracking info is now up on the website and we're good to go xD
