    Oh so true.

    6-cell delay my ass. People with somewhat similar configurations INCLUDING 6-cell batteries have ALREADY RECEIVED their computer while they ordered AFTER me. What gives, Dell?

    Edit: On the website, a computer configured with a 6-cell battery now has an ESD of 6-26-08. The DELLay went down on the 6-cells 12 days or so to 5-days now (even says on the order page, only a 5 day delay).

    Ok so they must have just gotten a huge batch of 6-cell batteries if the delay went down that much. Well that's good, but they better get their priorities right in handling orders. If any more orders get shipped that were ordered AFTER mine I will be less than pleased, to say the least.

    And you're absolutely right. For me it seems I'll end up waiting a month while others have got it in a week or so yet some other people have waited up to three months which is outrageous. We pay a lot for this things (and in my case 40% more just for being in Mexico) to be treated with no seriousness.

    I was only saying that if a CSR told you your order is going to be delayed he actually might not know what he was saying. Take my case for example, a CSR assured me it was still going to be in production this week and it's actually almost here.

    My advice is call them, call them until your phone breaks, call them until you know the name of all the CSRs, suggest them weird plans like changing one component for another or going to pick it up at the factory or whatever makes them work a lot, or just plain ask to get your order expedited. Don't give in. It might actually work.

    I ordered my Dell m1530 yesterday (June 11th) and the phone rep. told me, there is a battery delay and the estimated shipping time is July 10th. I have to wait a month before they even ship it.

    Rectorb if you can I suggest ordering the 9 cell. You'll be down to 2 weeks or less. There is a special promotion that can get you the battery for free or it should still be 30% off.

    So as Lord said, u should take advantage of free 9 cell battery upgrade
    since u can get ur laptop much faster.

    Thats great to hear jaymes. Shame it had to be delayed but it seems they covered their asses with the delay date to avoid any trouble.

    this sucks i should have looked into this before i ordered the laptop

    you'd think spending over 1500 would warrant some better delivery speeds

    figures i ordered yesterday ( 11th ) and my estimated SHIP date is july 9th. wow after i keep thinking about it, i think im just going to cancel this ****

    The 9 cell is the key to getting yours quickly but if your on a budget like I was it didn't really fit in. I don't need over 2.5 hours of battery since I mostly needed mobility not portability. Plus I remember seeing the prices back in January of the 9 cell and they were in the double digits instead of their current triple digits.

    problem is canadas site still says 12 day delay whereas usa's says 5 day as of today..
    also even with the 7 day short delay they get free upgrade or 30% off but canada gets 12 days of delay and FULL ****ING PRICE upgrade to 9cell battery..which comes out to almost $200 more with tax



    as i stated in another thread im going to cancel in 1-2 days if the canadian site doesnt change

    That's terrible. I don't blame you for wanting to cancel your order. If I knew what I know now back when I ordered I probably would have researched the Lenovo or hp laptops more.

    If I were only that lucky. A page or two back I chronicled my day with Dell as I contacted them through email and telephone to get two different stories about how my laptop will never see the light of day and how it is going to ship tomorrow. I just called the automated line and its still in build so I can expect the delay letter tomorrow even though two different reps today have told me that I would most certainly not receive a delay.

    Reps have no clue what they are talking about generally...

    I will however be calling tomorrow demanding my free next day shipping.

    I don't know whats up with my order, but I ordered it on 6/6 with the 6 cell battery and its already been shipped out to a DHL hub.

    mrboyd11: Yes, the reps know less about my status than my cat. I've *suggested* a shipping up on my order since it was to be delayed but they told me I'd have to cancel and reorder to get a different shipment method. Let me know how it goes tomorrow because I will be looking to do the same if I wake up less angry about the delay and decide not to cancel.

    From what I read that those laptops are build from factory in Malaysia right?
    So that means it's about 11:13 am right there, so why dont u just call up the order status check system, maybe couple hours later and see if it's in boxing stage or not.

    As of 10pm central its still in build. I'll wake up and it will be in build and then around noonish I'll have my delay letter so I can email customer service again since I seem to do better on email then with the India Reps. If I can't get anything resolved by the end of the day then I'll pretend like I want to cancel. I keep thinking I'll cancel since this is unacceptable but there isn't another laptop that suites all my needs like the m1530 does. The closest would be the Macbook pro and that starts at around 2000. I don't have anohter 700 to put toward a laptop.

    I feel ya, Lord. If I cancel, the closest thing would probably be a Macbook Pro, or a Sager laptop. While I like Sager, I don't want to re-order. :( I want my M1530!!

    who knows, maybe it would just be delayed for couple days like ESD to 6/16
    just like my ESD :D
    Lets just hope for the best and we would be receiving our laptop within next week.
    My ESD is next monday and expected delivery is btw. 6/18~6/20 since i got the standard delivery.

    I would order the 9 cell, but it costs an extra 169 dollars. It's past my budget. (I'm a poor university kid who eats Chef Boy R De everyday)

    It doesn't even show I ordered anything yet on the Dell website, shouldn't an order be there automatically? Like every other website on the planet =] I will call just to make sure everything is sorted out. I can search for my order but get an error when trying to add the order to my account.

    Edit: Everything should be sorted out, and I have an estimated ship date of 19/06/08 apparently (moved ahead from the 23rd) well thats good news, I'll believe it when I see the system in my hands shortly afterwards. :D

    I've had fairly good luck so far, but that makes me really nervous that they're leading me on. :) After my initial ESD of about a month I called up and modified my order to the 9cell. I ended up getting the 9cell and next day shipping for 20 bucks less than my original order, new ESD is the 20th of this month, not next.

    I'm not positive why they did that for me and not for some others, but there were a couple things I think helped.
    1: I was in touch with a Dell tech-support-type who really didn't care. I said that the wait was really long and he offered me the free shipping as all he could do for me.

    2: After that I kept at it and asked if there was a part that was delaying me. He told me the battery so I asked if I could change that. I got transferred to a salesperson. I expressed reluctance in going to the 9cell and kept asking how big it was (which I really was worried about), but I also kept saying that I really didn't want to wait the month. He kept tossing a little extra incentive in and I ended up getting the battery for free, plus a little off the total.

    I think the key there was getting to someone who had an incentive to make the sale to me and keep me from canceling. Looking back I'm glad I'm getting the 9cell anyways. I like that it will prop the laptop up a bit and give a better typing angle and more airflow. Anyways, I hope this will help some of you, the wait times for this laptop are just insane.

    Edit: Oh, I also struck up a conversation with the salesperson while he was looking up the size and weight stats for me, talked about the heatwave and such. It helps talking with someone who's a native of your particular country.

    I've used an XPS with the 9Cell, its nothing overly bulky... when I first saw it I thought it was nice that it was propped up slightly, trust me it won't bother you.

    Pretty much. Luckily I'm getting ready to go so I won't just sit here and be pissed that they did this to me. I think someone else's ESD is today and they're in build so we'll have to see what happens there too. If I can call and get either 9-cell or free overnight then I'll hold out but if I just get a speech about how their vendors supply things and its out of their control then I'll cancel.

    ESD is today (6/13) and I'm still in the Build stage according to the automated system.

    I suppose I'll be awaiting my delay email then next I'll call in for compensation of free next day shipping.

    It's finally here, after almost a month. It's very solid what can I say?
    I will be looking for flaws for the following month probably, not quite comfortable.

    But so far so good:
    • No scratches or bulges, well an almost unperceptible one but I don't think that is the dreaded bulge they talk about.
    • Running nicely and getting warm.
    • The screen looks nice enough, but shows a little leakage and I wonder how it will look at night. It's an LG.
    • Fingerprint reader say my fingers are bad quality as expected. Update: Oh I learned how to use it, moderate strenght needed.
    • I underestimated the amount of bloatware installed. I would have paid $20 for it to come without it.
    • The lowest mark in the Windows Experience Score is 4.7 and comes from the memory, now I question if I should have bought 4 GB instead.

    l be running some tests now and then what should I install first? Visual Studio or Flight Simulator... hmmm

    In the end I'm happy. I give Dell an 8 out of 10. And for you who are still waiting I can tell you: when the wait is over, it is over... you'll miss the wait so enjoy it while it lasts.

    I ordered mine on 6/9/2008 with a 9 cell battery and it's in boxing at the moment, but my ship date is 24th. Is it likely that I'll get mine before the ship date?

    Anyone know of a way to talk to an American or is all Dell customer service outsourced to India?

    yeah egregious i got the delay email to 6/20 as well. I hate these lying Indian reps, I'm so tired of this crap. Waiting a month for a laptop is ridiculous.

    You upgraded to the 9 cell so I think you may get lucky enough to get out there by Monday. I saw a gimped m1530 at Sam's Club today and almost bought it. It was a hundred cheaper than my build but lacked LED, 4 GB RAM, T8300, and Intel N. Decided I'll hold out and just complain. ;)

    Wish I'd have noticed this thread before I ordered. They offered me $50 off battery or shipping upgrade, I said no thanks and then they gave me the 9-cell for free and within seconds called me at 11:30 pm to take my order and make sure it's correct. I posted another thread looking for help because while I was trying to order a desktop I noticed the invoice total was correct but they downgraded my LED screen, memory and HD. Four hours with different depts transferring and hanging up on me and nothing is resolved, I tried to cancel and they told me to try later as system will be down for several hours but they could help me with desktop order. F that! The reenter dept says they can't see my cart so I need to call sales, sales says only reenter or cancel dept can fix this. Two depts do nothing while a third says call back in about five hours and try again. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take five hours just to find that out. I know what not to but now.

    So I did receive my delay email today with the new ESD of 6/20. I called to request an upgrade in shipping "for compensation to maintain my customer satisfaction" and was told that no part of an order, as small as it may be, can be changed after it is placed without canceling it and reordering any longer. He claimed that people committing fraud was the reason for this. Ok... understandable as far as maybe the address or something is concerned but the shipping method?!

    Uhg basically I was rejected my shipping upgrade request being told it was not possible what so ever without canceling the order.

    Let me know if you guys have any luck.

    That sucks big time mrboyd11. I don't have enough energy to mess with the reps today maybe I'll fight them tomorrow. I emailed today around 3 but never received anything back. There has to be some kind of compensation for this delay that their reps promised wouldn't happen.

    Ha, in this case, fraud depends on who gets to write the small text. I hope they do compensate all of you. It is just not fair to wait so long and specially when they keep pushing the dates.

    So they can't supply you a shipping upgrade after you supply them your credit card information and talk about the delay. I think it should be automatic. If the machine sends a delay message then the product should get update shipping.

    I just checked the automatic order status and it's in TESTING stage now.
    Finally a progress after a week of time. :D
