    ***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

    Other times, it won't help at all. I ordered on the phone 5/30 and have a ESD of 6/19 and an ESD of 6/20 with overnight shipping. I think this is what frustrates people -- there appears to be no rhyme nor reason to when a person will get their laptop in the XPS ship date lottery.

    Maybe it helps too if you order through an Employee Purchase Program or through a College or University- I ordered through my school so maybe that helped? I don't know- I'm just trying to rationalize why my computer seemingly was built so fast yet so many other people who ordered before me are still in the build stage-

    It never hurts to just pop into an online chat and question why the delay is so long. Keep working them more and more and they may try to expedite it for you.

    I'm still in build and I may cancel tomorrow because a new xps is just around the corner. They have the studio line that is exactly what the xps is, so the xps will have to be a lot better than that. Plus they can't keep the 8600 in the laptop for much longer.

    My order for my 1530 should arrive to me on tuesday, I wonder what the heck is going on with people that ordered back in may? First time i contacted customer service was through email and that got me a no brainer reply that was probably copy and pasted into the window. I chatted online with customer service about my order being delayed and the very next day my order went into boxing. So everyone thats waiting maybe give that a shot?

    Still no change for me currently... esd was the 16th and now is the 20th. (should probably update my sig in a sec)

    Anyways. btw I thought this "studio" line was said to be a line in between inspiron and xps.

    Speaking of newer products...
    Question: Is it possible for them to upgrade the graphics card in these 1530s (like a 512mb) adding another upgrade option. If so would I be able to buy one in the future and pop it in? Very first laptop (built a few of my own desktops) so I don't know how all this works.

    o ordered mine xps m1530 on 11th june , edd is 25th june, but system still shows in pre production stage. i wonder whats wrong

    So yeah, I ordered 5/27 and today is my ESD, but my 1530 is still in the build stage,

    I called Dell last night and e-mailed them asking if the build stage is wrong, or if I should be expecting a delay,

    and their incompetent service team just told me what I could look up "This is what happens in the build stage, we will e-mail you if your order will be delayed" blah blah

    Man it blows me that people ordering a week after me with essentially the same thing have already been getting theirs shipped ...

    Well Im still in build.

    I am entering full on assault mode on the phones. Extremely polite but pressing, and will be calling my service rep 'kahn' and his manager daily for updates. This being the second day and the manager is now involved.

    Wonder if i can get this moving.

    Calling won't do much good. They tell you they will prioritize your order and all that...but they don't do that. They will say anything to get you off the phone.

    When they start suggesting you cancel your order, that is when I like to start yelling 'My ****ing money is no good to you?"

    Called buisness support even though i'm EPP. I work for a local government agency, we ordered through that so i brought that up. I stated its a replacement for an older buisness laptop. I dropped the completely true statement that "we have never waited this long for a PC and are at 4 weeks here. Promptness is key in our purchases."

    I dunno other than that. I can be a bit of a jerk poliely by applying pressure, and dogging poor 'kahn' daily.

    I talked to Customer Service today and it seems my laptop is in the final build stage, and could be shipped in a few days?? I hope there was some amount of truth to that.

    Oh? Do you have info on when a new line with a different graphics card is coming out? Obviously computers get updated all the time, but if we're a week away from a new line that would be something to consider.

    Called about 30 minutes ago before I was going to go in the shower to check up on my M1530 status. Still in build and today is the ESD. When I get home, I'll be waiting for that delay e-mail. Great... :confused:

    Will DHL hold a shipment once they recieve it?

    Rofl, so do I. I was thinking in the 4 hour car ride to SOUTH DAKOTA yesterday, that I'd love to be playing and removing bloatware from my XPS M1530 right about now. If only I'd recieved my laptop early like others, that'd be nice.

    yeah but that's kinda the point of the thread, right?

    Khan emailed me back and immediately called me: NO PARTS ON BACK ORDER. he seemed concerned that it was not moving fowards and will call again tommorow when he gets more info.

    So WTF happened that its just sitting?

    anyways... I know others have felt blown off but he did call me back at least. mildly appeased for the moment.

    My ESD is today, but it's still in BOXING stage and
    I have not gotten any emails about delay yet.
    But I think my ESD is going to be delayed to probably 6/20 :(

    I see that the estimated date for the delivery of the order is 06/27/2008. The shipment of the order is delayed because we do not have the part number XT816 i.e. Battery in stock. I would like to inform you that we are not able to make any changes in the order once it is placed. However, you may contact our Sales Department to get the order cancelled and replaced with the correct shipping method.

    So they don't have the battery at all anymore? I hate dell

    If you have a 6-cell battery you have no idea when you may get your order. Some people have ordered in June and gotten theirs while many of us who ordered in May are still waiting. I'm fairly confident that I will get a second delay this week. I would have reordered but now the 25% off is gone.

    I just received a delay email.
    Now the new ESD is 6/18.
    I also ordered office 2007 separately when I ordered this laptop.
    The ESD for office 2007 was also today but now it's delayed to 6/23.
    Onething that I dont get is why couldn't they just ship office 2007
    earlier, it's not like they are going to ship it in same box.
    So yeah, I just hope I dont get any more delay email :/

    That sucks you got the delay hwa1201 even with your upgrade to the 9-cell. They are obviously having other problems. Maybe they don't have any 8600GT either.

    So, I'm so furious at this situation that I had to sign up to vent.

    I ordered on May 27th like a few others. My ESD was today (June 16th) and I just received the dreaded delay email. I would have even been ok with seeing it delayed to 6/20 like some others, but my new ESD is 6/23. I'm not willing to wait another whole week after waiting 3 already and not seeing any progress. I'm seriously thinking of canceling this order and getting a Sager NP2092, which when customized is almost exactly the same as the M1530 and comes in at $150 cheaper.

    I had my wife call on Saturday and she was talked off the phone within 10 minutes. I would call myself but (a) I am terrible with understanding accents and (b) I am so angry that I would make an ass out of myself and not get anywhere.

    What else can we do? I feel that Dell has really dropped the ball on this issue, and even though I have had fantastic service in the past, this incompetence nearly destroys all that.

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4GHz/800MHzFSB, 3M L2 Cache)
    4GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm

    well the 6 cell and the 1440 x 900 screen BOTH show may delay order via dell.com's laptop build page now. As well as 320 GB 5200rpm HD not even being an option now.

    This blows.

    FINALLY arrived at 1:45 CST today after ordering on 5/22. Samsung screen, but not a lemon. Everything seems to be in good working order. HDD a little on the warm side, but took over an hour to really notice it on the left arm rest, but from the bottom was warm to the touch, and I haven't really done any installation of stuff yet.

    Not suprised about the screen shortage, a lot of people who take WSXGA don't want WUXGA, so when they took that option away you figure most people go to the 1440 resolution, putting a strain on orders for those. Saw this problem coming. Now had Dell just stopped using the Samsung screens for 1680 and used LG only this wouldn't be a problem.

    BTW, I'm LOVING the WUXGA+ screen - so much real estate! It's insane. I'm using an HDMI->DVI adapter to run a 24" LCD next to it - also 1920x1200.

    I completely understand what your talking about. I have trouble talking with the reps and have seen other laptops that I could have in my hand by the end of the week. It just seems I'm partial to the 1530 but if they aren't going to ship on friday then I will be looking again even though I make the same threat everytime dell screws me.

    Just a heads up for anyone who just got one of the week long delay notices that I got today:

    you may have luck upgrading shipping if you do what I did:

    Say you're going out of town tues. or weds. (take your pick)

    I threatened to cancel my order if I couldnt get the laptop for them, and the sales assistant managed to get me upgraded to 2nd day shipping

    I just checked my status from dell.com and my laptop and office 2007
    both have been shipped and shows tracking#.
    I dont understand why they even bothered to send delay emails and making me worried.
    I called CSR right after I got delay email and complained about it, but I'm
    not sure if that may have caused them to ship both laptop and office 2007?

    Note it says Delivery Preparation when I log into my account, along with that ship date but when I click on Delivery Prep, it shows me as still In Production (Green), hmm... which to believe?

    How did you talk to dell? I've tried email and phone and on the phone I get told that there is no higher up to talk to about upgrades.

    You don't even have to do that. Tell them because of the wait, you want free shipping. Don't ask...tell them. They will give it to you.

    Also, tell them because of the wait/delay you would like some compensation in the form of a Dell credit. They will give you $50 without much fighting.

    Man, I'm getting tired of these delays!! I ordered on May 24th, and still its listed in production. I see others have ordered as late as june 6th, and already gotten their 1530!! I'm really thinking of cancelling and going somewhere else if it doesn't ship by friday......
