Got my Dellay e-mail today, new ESD is 6-23-08, the day I leave to go up north. Hopefully it will ship and take 5 days, enough for me to get back haha.

Status Update, at least according to the Dell website in My Account.
Shipped 16/06/2008
However I don't quite get why it says its shipped but when I click on Shipped, it still seems to be on In Production, anyone seen this before? Does that portion fo the site take time to update, if it updates at all? or is it just information on what the different status's are. -
That's just information about the statuses. If you have a tracking number, you should be good. And DAMN, you got it shipped fast...but I guess you had no delayed parts =\.
-
artful you're lucky, I ordered 3 days earlier and am still in Boxing =/
We've got exactly the same specs so hopefully it will ship tomorrow for me -
Yup, ESD is moved from 6-16-08 to 6-23-08, with the EDD now being 6-26-08 to 6-30-08. A MONTH to build a laptop.
Wow. -
I have just phoned Dell UK to ask why I'm still in pre-production when I should be receiving in just over a week. Apparently I'm in production but they haven't updated my status online. I checked with 2 reps to confirm this in case one made a mistake. Life would be so much easier if they updated online. I'm quite pleased now
1) Does anyone have any experience with whether Dell UK ever update online status?
2) If I phoned Dell UK customer service again are they able to tell me exactly what stage of in-production I am at? They wouldn't tell me what date it went into production. -
Confirmed, got my Shipped E-Mail and I have a tracking number, its on the trucks from the US to Canada. =) lucky, 3 day build I guess?
-
I just received the 1 week delay...
system specs:
XPS M1530

2GB RAM
160GB 7200RPM HDD
1440x900 LED Screen
9-Cell battery
Ordered: 6/8/2008
ESD: 6/16/08
New ESD: 6/23/2008
Est. Delivery Date: 6/26/2008-6/30/2008 -
Question: on my order status page, it currently says that my unit is "in production." Approximately how long will it take for that to become "build?"
-
You need to call the automated line to get build stages. The site will say In Production until it ships. Call 1-800-433-9014. Have your order number ready.
-
My order says shipped now!
Very surprised, they really rushed mine through. I don't have a tracking number but it says that it's gone out so we'll see.
I second the thing about calling the automated line. If you stay on for a while after it will ask you if you want to talk to a rep. I did that, indicated to him that I wanted to upgrade my battery to avoid the delay, got transferred to an American sales guy who had incentive to give me discounts to keep the sale. -
@Ddraig You can get your tracking information by phone, It should be available for you, I'd call up after you get an e-mail confirmation of your shipment, mine is ready to be shipped to Canada.
-
Woot, I just received my office 2007 today which was shipped yesterday.
Also, checked status for my laptop and carrier is stated as DHL Express, and it's at Nashville, TN right now. So hopefully I'd receive it by tomorrow or day later -

Follow up:
So I decided to cowboy up and call Dell CS today and let them know how unhappy I am.
First call:
Spoke with CS and explained my situation. After 5 minutes of not getting anywhere I let him know that maybe its just time I cancel my order. I was then transferred to their cancellation dept.
Spoke with a gentleman there and re-explained my situation. Told him that I ordered on May 27th and my ESD was June 16th and that it had been delayed to June 23rd. with a EDD of June 26-30th. I informed him that I would be going out of town on the 26th and that it was imperative that I have my laptop before then. He told me he would check to see if we could change it to overnight shipping and put me on hold to check with his "supervisor". I'm sure you can all guess what happened next. I was disconnected.
Second call:
I called CS back, told them the whole spiel again. She read from her script about how no changes could be made to the order blah blah blah. I told her that was not true and was just speaking to someone in cancellation that was going to help me out (whether he was or not). After 5 minutes of back and forth with her I told her I wanted to cancel. I think she was happy to send me to cancellation. I really do not understand this business practice.
Anyhow, I get Karen in Cancellation. FINALLY someone who doesn't speak broken English and I can understand. I explained everything to her and pushed on her about what the delay was. She told me both the 6-cell and the 9-cell have delays now. The 6-cell being 15 days... I explained to her how I needed the order by the 25th to see if she would try to expedite it some. Again, all I got was the "if we change anything on the order it will probably push your ship date back even further" spiel. She did offer to cancel the order for me (I swear I never had a company look to keep canceling an order for you) and re-order it with the $599 discount I got initially so I could reorder with parts that may not be on backstock, but again, this would push the ship date further again.
I finally decided to tell her I would give them until the 22nd to ship my order and that if dell did not want to lose my $1650 that she would put flags, notes, or anything else in the system to expedite my order. She said she would do what she can (which we all know is probably nothing). I fully expect to be calling back on the 22nd to cancel.
Sorry folks, no good news here. Just venting more. -
So bad news all around.
"Hi Joe,
Hope you are doing good…..
I just received an update from the manufacturing team stating that the below part is not in stock.
**XT816 battery is on parts shortage. **
I am still keeping a track on the order and already expedited the order.I will get back and keep you updated with the status of the order.
Do mail me back if you need any more information in regards to the order,"
Say what you will about apple, but I'd have my laptop i payed for in may by now. -
Mojojoe, we have identical computers except you have a larger hard-drive.
Expect a delay, as my ESD got pushed out a week. -
And yet some people get theirs built in 4 days with a 6 cell battery. Dell needs to work on their first come first serve system, as it would benefit everyone. The people who got their computer built in 4 days had to get their 6-cell battery from somewhere...and where did they get it from? People like polarix, mojojoe, etc. who should have had that part to ship out to them. They're inconveniencing some people so that they can meet the ESD specified for other people. Why not just give everyone the parts in the order that they were purchased so that everyone can look at having just about the same time frame until their ESD? Go Dell!
-
The best thing is that I am 100% sure I am going to get a second delay notification on 6/20. Delayed from ESD 6/13 to 6/20, and now its going to be delayed again from 6/20 to, I'm guessing, 6/27. AND, that's over a month and its not even through the build stage.
-
Well I called this morning and it says Shipped, checked the tracking number and it says shipment acknowledged, so I guess we'll see how long it takes from here.
-

If thats true....
Backlight bleed = demanding new screen or LED screen
Bump in the keyboard? Better send out a tech
Grainy screen? Demanding new LED screen
More delays? Compensation, a rebate or two. Better shipping.
This laptop better be picture perfect. -
Yeah.... I can get a sager for the same amount with 512 gfx card and the same specs... no dvi, but still. I really wanted the features the 1530 had....
it had damn well better be perfect.
I have one more card to play... so im doing it... -
-
-
well boo on that. so dell has us by the balls.

COMRADES, SAVE YOUR COIN, SAVE YOUR TIME
Do what I say and adhere to this rhyme!
If dell delays give you sad faces,
come check out a new laptop from ASUS!

Yes, I did just make that up,
and Yes, I am cancelling my order from dell and purchasing (EDD Friday)
Peace! -

Haha I agree redskin we need to rally against Dell. I looked at the ASUS but I really want 1440x900 and now want LED. I was thinking bout checking Dell Outlet since I have my heart set a XPS so badly. Dell sucks
-
so what seems to be the average wait time for a dell laptop? about 2 to 3 weeks?
-
One to five weeks.
9-cell = 1.5 weeks
6-cell = 5 weeks. -
-
Ya I got the 9 Cell...ordered on 6/7/08 and I got it today on 6/17/07. Not TOO bad, but not near as good as the 5-6 day delivery time of the Dell of the past.
-
-
Well just got my delay email earlier today, and not to happy. I could of probably lived with a one week delay, but 2ish weeks?
Orginal ESD: 6/17
New ESD: 07/01
Ugh, I may be calling Dell. If it doesn't move up in the next few days, I may cancel and see if I can find something around my specs in the outlet. -
Hooray! I got my 1530 today! Ordered on the 6th and received it on the 17th (w/ next day shipping). So far everything is working perfectly- no bulge in keyboard or anything like that- I thought the express card slot wasn't working at first but you just have to push really hard to get the blank card out.

Well, I'm still waiting. Been on the phone to India about a dozen times, and sent two emails to tech support. They refuse to expedite shipping (can't be done!), and keep saying just wait. One encouraging thing though. The CS person I talked to last insisted that my order would NOT be delayed a second time. Its due to ship on the 20th. We shall see, but I'm not holding my breath.....

Did you receive the crappy ALPS touch pad or the synaptic... when looking @ the drivers for XPS m130 they only have driver support for the ALPS o.x
hopefully the tech comes with synaptic touch pad~
glad that everything worked on yours... like the screen? -
Yikes, I can't believe how long some of you guys have been waiting! If it were me I would get so frustrated that I would probably end up canceling.
I really don't understand how Dell's ordering and shipping processes work...I don't get why some of the people who ordered as far back as May are still waiting. I ordered mine on June 13 and it shipped June 16...Shouldn't they be filling orders on a first come, first served basis? -
dont bring logic into it.
-
I have adapted learned helplessness. She's never going to say anything other than build stage. I just know it.....

Woot, mine is at Pensylvania DHL center and I'd probably get it tomorrow afternoon.
-

Didn't you just get a delay letter hwa1201? Good to hear that you'll be getting yours. I've felt like throwing up all afternoon trying to decide what to do laptop wise. I seriously doubt I'll ever see my xps for under 1300. The outlet has some decent ones but I can't get exactly as I want.
