Day 29, still in build.![]()

-
We so need a lawyer on here to let us know if there is any basis for a class action suit here. This is absolutely out of control now.
-
It is with the courier for delivery, which means I get to spend the next few hours looking out my window every time I hear a car drive by, hoping it is the DHL van
-
thanks

=/... hopefully the sunday shipment of batteries will be enough for the june people as well (i ordered on 6/6).. so sick of waiting..
-
^I hear ya, I ordered on the 9th of June and still hearing "...currently in the build stage..." I keep hoping when I hear the b sound it will say boxing stage but my hopes and dreams get shattered each and every time.
-
I went for the 9 cell though, so that is how I got lucky and avoided the constant delays everyone else is going through -
Finally get out of the dreadful build stage after 25 days (now in kitting stage, whatever that means).
Hope mine (and any other unlucky one that order at end of May using the 25% coupon) will received their laptop soon. I do lost much of my confidence on Dell, though, hopefully the final product will changed my mine, b/c, at the current rate, I don't see myself buying a Dell again. -
-
Yes, Kitting is when they are gathering parts for your machine and putting them into a bin to be assembled. You essentially went backwards in production. Congrats
-
Ordered on the 10th, with a 9-cell battery, and got mine in this morning. Very happy I went with the lrger battery, since I actually find this quite comfortable to use on my lap and the battery life is great. Condolences to everyone who's been suffering the massive wait for the 6-cell, though... I understand that the factory was destroyed but making people's computers out of order is just ridiculous.
-
Well I have no idea what my timetable will be......I ordered on Jun 3rd and my original ship date is Friday the 27th.......I am hoping they ship on Thursday or before because if they ship on Friday I won't see it until Monday.
tonybatista -
ordered mine on 10/06 (6-cell battery)
ESD 24/06, pushed back to 03/07
then i called them saying I will be moving out of the house and i need it before july. the CS rep said she will talk to her higher ups about this (I didnt request to talk to her higher ups myself, figured might as well have some faith in her)
production 20/06
shipped 22/06
arrived at hinckley (walsh western) 23/06
scheduled delivery 24/06 (tomorrow) -
What a joke... we have people who ordered over two weeks before you and have not even gotten shipped, including myself. And you ordered the 6-cell so there is no excuse for dell. I hate dell so much, never ordering again from them. -
I am so blinded with rage right now...
-
did u guys tried pestering them?
-
Well, given it's nearly close of official business on the 29th day since my system has been in build stage and everyone else is seeing progress, I will be calling Dell again tonight to find out what the hell is going on here.
I seriously considered just breaking down and buying a refurb machine off the Outlet so that I would get it before the end of the month.
Just out of curiosity, is there anyone on the forum who ordered on or before the 25th of May who is still in Build stage? Just wondering if I am the only one so far back in line at this point. -
Holy Horse-Sh*t batman!
Order Date: 5/27/2008
Order Status: Shipped (6/23/2008)
Like I previously said though, I really wish I was able to get some compensation for all of this. Now lets all pray that it is in perfect working order when I get it. -
^grats.
just checked dell site and the 6cell delay went from 9 days to 4 days. looks like a good sign! -
Just went from Kitting Stage to Testing Stage in 6 hrs...
Guess the battery issue is getting better... -
-
anyways.. looks like dell is ordering a whole bunch of batteries since they had 3 shipments already. i reallllllllly hope it gets up to mine. i would love to have mine shipped by the end of this month. -
Someone had called in Friday of last week and Dell said they were getting shipments in both Friday and Today. Whether or not it's true, I don't know, but it's all we have to work with for now.
-
I just called the order status line for the 20th time today and I was switched to an agent who told me that the line is not working and to call back in 3 hours.
This is getting crazy. We are dealing with a bunch of people with no desire to help us. I just want to get a straight answer. I am afraid to hear that is going to be even later when I am so close to the ship date.
Good luck to everybody who is waiting !!!!!
Ordered 6/3..............ship date 6/27..........hoping for arrival this Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The customer service (as far as ordering from what I've seen) is horrible. It would be so much better if in the event of a delay then compensation is automatically made. The lack of information the reps have is a huge problem. I would have felt a lot better if I had a genuine confirmed reason from them why I'm getting delayed. (the rumor battery factory that burned down in china). Finally if in the event of a delay (at the time of my order they said no such thing as a delay of the battery) there should be way better options than to ride it out or cancel starting all over. Kerpal that doesn't know what's going on other than his screen saying I will ship on this date does make my laptop cheaper I suppose...
whooo now that thats out I'm drowning in anticipation for my FLAWLESS laptop a state away!! <fingers crossed> hah -
Oh my GOD, there has been a change in my status!
It's gone BACKWARDS into the Kitting stage!
I am laughing so hard I have tears running down my cheeks! Jeez Dell, I wanted to see a change in status, but that wasn't exactly the change I had in mind!
:twitcy:
Edit: Well, it appears it's now back in build. Maybe something is happening here. I'll check again tomorrow morning, maybe it'll be into boxing! -
unintelligible: Mine did the same thing this morning, and as of now, it's already in boxing stage
But then, seeing that it takes Dell 3 days to box a damn laptop... -
Mine just shipped. Order date was 5/30.
Original ESD was 6/19, EDD 6/20--I was offered free next day delivery during order time by the EPP phone rep who took the order back on 5/30.
Last Friday I received a delay email changing the dates to ESD 6/26 and EDD 6/27.
Just now I looked up the status and it's Shipped, with a Fedex tracking number that shows the item picked up from Nashville yesterday evening with a delivery scheduled for tomorrow.
Here's hoping... -

So I've avoiding thinking about laptops till I realized that I needed it by next Friday. I found a great Dell Outlet and went ahead and ordered only to find out that they gave me an estimate of 7/15.
It is already made!!! What are they doing with it? Looks like I'll be going with the ASUS since I can get it by Friday. Not as good as the m1530 but it'll do -
-
-
Hopefully the recent success of people making it to the boxing stage is hinting at this possibly being over. The 6 cell battery delay is now 4 days, the HD display is now 1 day, and the 8600m GT is no longer delayed at all. We could be seeing the end...hopefully...please...
-
I never thought this day would come! -
Mine is in transit. Should be here between the 25th and the 27th. Finally, the wait is over!
-
well still in build....
i called and the guy called the warehouse and read me my service tag... which he explained puts it in burn in just before testing.
so im close. I have a service tag..... -
Oh, and I just got an online questionnaire about the quality of Dell's service and my customer satisfaction. I let them have it with both barrels. It goes to an independant survey business contracted by Dell. Have fun guys!
-
I think the 6-cell delays may be over because I just went to the Dell site to configure a system just to see what the delay time now is and there is NONE on the 6-cell batteries but get this....now the is a 16 day delay on the 9-cell batteries...so hopefully those that waited a month for a 6 cell and cancelled and got the 9 cell don't go through the whole thing again....although my 6-cell order is still in build stage.
-
Hahahah. Dell tried to offer the free upgrade to the 9 cell as a way to get people to stop buying the 6-cell, and the situation is even worse now for anyone who ordered a 9 cell. Oh dell...good job! You did great this time...
-
I wake up in my boxers with the door bell ringing so I look out the window and to my suprise find the DHL van! MOM DHL IS HERE!! HURRY! haha.OMG I have my laptop now! DHL is A+ in my books. The've had it since 12:00 am on the 23rd and it came this morning with standard shipping!! Did not expect that.
Everything so far doesn't look bad. I can't tell what kind of monitor I have though. It just says Generic pnp monitor. Looks good though and havnt found anything wrong yet. I'll look it up later for curiosity... But yea no bumps in keyboard, dvd drive is a good one, no dents, the only thing I see as a negative is I have the "crappy" alps touchpad. Atleast I think that's the bad one. Works fine though so it doesn't pose a problem.
Now I'm off to get rid of bloatware and such! Ugh so much work! -
yea saw the delay on the 9cell too. kinda funny how the delay on the 9cells are more than on the what the 6 cells were lol
-
hello... may i first say DELL IS A BUNCH OF IDIOTS>... anyways we ordered on May 28 it was originally supposed to be shipped June 19th and received 26 now they changed it to ship on the 26th and receive by July 3... we will be leaving the state on the 2nd of July... we called to see if they could change shipping to 2 day or something .. they said they cant change nething ...just cancel the dang thing... then he couldnt tell me what state they were going to ship it from. and they hung up on my fiance 3 times..not answering any questions.. how dare them..?? . so i have some questions
What state will it be shipped from??
Does it usually take the full 3 to 5 days to receive it??
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DELL COMPUTER---CUSTOMER SERV. SUCKS!!! -
1-800-247-2076 call this number, it's the order modification line , they can actually adjust stuff without canceling, however they told me they couldn't change my address without a cancel unless they did it in transit, but they upgraded my shipping and it should be arriving today because of that.
they ship out of Tennessee -
i just called that number and they said they still couldnt change it without cancelling... all i wanted this to do was upgrade shipping.. they said its on its way to nashville ... but .. i still dont think ill get it in time... i live in arkansas...do they have to be signed for???
Thanks -
Signature Preferred
DHL will obtain a signature at the time of residential delivery; this could be an in-person signature, a signed Attempted Delivery Notice, or a Signature on File at the local service center for the recipient. - taken from dhl.com , what it says next my laptop order number
I hate to waste your time but they are the order modification department and should be able to do something. i read somewhere that they can update the shipping method but don't guarantee it will actually take effect (what a manager told a user) which may be why they won't do it without a cancel.
it was very easy for me to get upgraded, called on a weekend and got a very nice lady. however when i called again to change shipping address and fish for added extras after my second delay (weekday morning) all three men i talked to were a little more rude and rushed and again unwilling (or unable) to do anything without a cancel. -
well dell has printed a shipping label for my laptop, but has yet to hand it over to dhl. they claim both of my packages will arrive today while dhl says they will arrive tomorrow.
-
order arrived and so far I'm a happy camper, see sig for dates.
-
Day 13 - No word yet.
I was thinking about calling in, but I'm in Canada and I don't know what # to call. -
I received mine today. It appears to be in excellent working order and I am quite pleased. The wait was a pain, almost a month, but I'm glad to have it now.
-
Just to share some pain here...
1530, T9300, 4GB, 8600GT...
Ordered May 18 - delivered June 16, only that there was a screw loose inside of laptop. So instead of playing with my new toy I had to dissect it in search for a loose piece. Was never able to get to it - it is stuck in corner where heatsink is even after removal of heatsink.
On first call, June 19, tech guy did not understand whats up and instead of ordering replacement he ordered technician to my home to replace heatsink - even after I told dude that I did all this and could not find it.
Finally I cancel home service - they still came as the replacement heatsink did next day.
After 10 different conversations they placed an replacement for me that should be shipped yesterday. Today I receive call saying that my laptop has been delayed indefinitely.
I believe that my relationship with Dell is going to cease to exist if I dont receive this laptop in next 5 days, which I am sure I wont, I am canceling. -
*****es love me cause im in testing!
Or
Im in testing officially finally!
