Dell upgraded my shipping to "next day" about a week ago without me even asking for it. Of course, I'm still sitting in "build," with my ESD tomorrow, so it really ain't gonna matter in the long run. At least DHL isn't likely to experience weeks-long unexpected delays.
-
hthighway I hoped for it but I never mentioned the word shipping I said I havent had my computer in a month and I need it asap
-
I ordered one on June 21st but I wasn't able to get the order processed until the 24th.
I called to check up on the order today and I was told that the thing is already in the boxing stage with an ETS of August 7th.
I'm not sure what's up. -
-
Well after being told several times over the past week that my order was almost complete and would definitely ship on or before today it finally happened, I got a delay e-mail. I called and got different reasons and they refused to upgrade shipping or do anything else except cancel my order. This is crazy I am tempted to cancel and order the studio model, I would probably get it sooner but I'm not too happy about the graphics card it comes with.
-
OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!
Laptop is in boxing stage!!!!! -
Well, it finally happened, this morning around 10 AM the automated response told me that it was in TESTING........by 2 PM it was BOXING, a few minutes ago a customer service rep told me it was SHIPPING tomorrow and it should be delivered Monday.....
Ordered 6/3, shipping 6/27
good luck to everybody !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My second replacement is in boxing, and has been for a few days. Hopefully they will give me a system that works and is in new condition on their third try...

ahh nice.. that means mine will be soon! (ordered 6/6, 3 days after you). hopefully itll be tomorrow!
-
Mine is shipped, and already in Waco, TX...(I'm in San Antonio, TX).
Hopefully it'll arrived tomorrow or so...but then, I didn't get upgrade to next day even after I contact 5 representatives or so... -
-
Edit: Once I get the order number, my order was in build the minute I called (10 minutes after order placed) -
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Well, I guess I just have to wait a little longer for mine. My ESD is 7/8/08, so let's hope it gets here before then!
-
-
^I know, I found that a little odd. Online it says it is "In Production" but when I call the automated service it says in "Pre Production". I think I may give them a call. Thanks for the tip!
-
Hey, I ordered on 6/20/08 too! And my ESD is 7/8/08 too! I'm definately going to call dell tommorow. Thanks for the tip!
So just to clear things up... What exactly did you say to dell to get your shipment expedited? -
Well, I let them know that we canceled our old order (6-cell, ordered on 5-27-08, as of 6-20-08 still was in build) and let them know that it was my grad party present. My mom ripped them a new one, and they asked when we needed this laptop, and we said tomorrow.
Hopefully it will ship tomorrow. -
Mines been in boxing since yesterday so hopefully it'll be shipping to the U.S. today or tommorow
ordered 6/18 esd 7/2 edd 7/4 -
Still in boxing with a possible delay notification in bound! wtf
-
I ordered on the 9th of June and am still in build stage.....waiting to hear boxing or testing here soon..
-
Day number four in boxing stage. Day number 33 since ordered.
*sigh* -
So here is the latest update on my particular Dell saga.
I sent my lengthy and detailed email complaint to several people within Dell and copied the email to certain other interested parties who I felt might benefit from such information (you can read the email on page 182 of this thread). I sent the email at approx 3:15pm on Wednesday 6/25 and lo and behold I got a phone call within 3 hours.
The gentlemen that called me was an Executive Support Representative and spoke and understood very good English. He first of all wanted to apologize for my less than satisfactory experience and then give me information that everybody else I spoke to at Dell was unable to provide. He informed me that whilst he could offer no guarantees, my unit was still expected to ship today (Friday 6/27). He also upgraded my shipping to next business day.
Maybe it's coincidence given the expected shipping date, but my order immediately moved to the building stage between the time of our conversation and the next time I called the automated update line.
Well, today is the estimated shipping date and the unit is still in build mode as I type. As stated in my email, this will be my last Dell purchase until I see general consus online that Dell has addressed their customer service deficiencies. If the order does not get shipped by Tuesday then I'll be cancelling my order as it won't arrive in time for my trip.
Good luck all. -
Mine is arriving today (I'm picking it up tonight). I'm REALLY surprised by the speed of DHL given that I've see some people having LOTS of problem with them. But now, I'm getting next-day shipping at the price of normal shipping even though Dell never upgraded it...but then, Nashville is not really THAT far from San Antonio...
-
Wow, just called dell, and they instantly offered free next day shipping. I didn't even give them a reason why I wanted the order to be rushed.
-
Still in build stage...
I almost canceled for a studio 15 yesterday. I was looking at the upgrade to blu-ray rom for only $200.
Since I already have a work laptop and an XPS desktop to play games on, this purchase is just a want and not a need. If my ESD gets changed like so many others, I'll probably cancel my m1530 order and just save my money and in 6 months or so see what new developments in the laptop world might pop up, Dell or otherwise. -
My ESD was supposed to be today (6/27) and I'm still in the build phase.
I've called Dell about 4 different times now, and today was the first time I was able to speak to someone who could actually hold a conversation on the phone.
The gentleman was the first rep I've spoken to who has actually explained what is going on, he of course apologized for the delay in my order and assured me I would be receiving my m1530 by next week.
He's the first rep to mention the LG Battery issues and the specific dates on which have been mentioned here concerning when they received new battery orders in on.
We'll have to see what my delivery status shows come next week.
This will likely be my last purchase from Dell until they resolve their customer service issues. If it wasn't for the great deal I was able to get through the university I work for, I'd likely cancel the order. -
I figured I'd give a call to the automated number to check status.
I'm supposedly 'in testing' now. -
So I finally received my "Dell Order Has Been Delayed" email today. I guess I would have felt cheated had I not

Here's a good one.
Just got a voice automated message that my system was now backordered.
I checked the automated line, and I have moved from 'testing' to 'boxing' in the last 2 hours. Why do they have these automated calls go out then? -

Wow I actually made it to boxing today I've been in build since 6/03, hopefully it gets shipped at some point today.
-
I almost had a heart attack when I went to Order Status this afternoon, and saw Shipped! Yahoo! If the next business day shipping took effect, I should have my system Monday afternoon.
Although based on my luck so far, the DHL 757 will probably miss the runway and burst into flames -
still build stage.. =( i dont think its gonna make its ESD of 7/2.
-
so far everything's great with mine. the only quality complaint is the piece of tape or whatever they put over the stop and play buttons above the keyboard...a scratch and a few air bubbles i can't get out. that's totally fine by me...i'm just glad to have finally gotten the thing.
a few hiccups trying to start it up, but it's running smoothly now. just trying to get rid of any bloatware =] -
Well guys, I've had mine for two days now, and let me tell you, it was worth every freaking second of the wait!! This thing is absolutely flawless, and amazing in its' capabilities. There are no issues with noise, screen bleed, touchpad, speakers or cosmetic damage at all. You all need hang in there, its is worth the wait!
-
ordered 6/12 ESD 6/26 called 6/26 because still in build and needed it by 7/4 they opened a case and upgraded to next day shipping without even a request and (delayed because of battery) and the next day it is in boxing in other words it is going to be here earlier than it was going to be if boxing goes the way it should So I am pretty happy with the way dell has done for me
-
Well, you can't really rely on what you see on the website or what you hear on the Order Status Automated response line. According to the website my order still in the production stage, according to the automated response line mi order is in the boxing stage but when I called customer service the rep told me that my laptop made "the shuttle" and she even gave me a service tag number. I am guessing that "the shuttle" is a DHL airplane that brings them to a point somewhere in the U.S. where they are then distributed.
Besides all the nonsense and the misinformation, I was lucky that I spoke to a Customer Care Manager that got involved and a Customer Care Rep that kept me informed. My hat is off to them. I think we need to remember that these people are employees that are simply told what to do and what to say and we often unload our frustations on them.
Anyway, someone is going to call me tomorrow to give me an update. I am hoping for a Monday delivery.
I'll keep you posted

Testing from my XPS.
Everything looks good so far. I don't have any problem with bad screen. I'm already hating the TouchPad, though (My old Toshiba one worked MUCH better...)
Haven't run any games yet, though, so I don't know how good this thing will work until I throw the thing into fire... -
I need translation.
I check my Dell.ca order status and this is what is says,
Shipdate - 27/06/2008 5:38:35 PM
Order Status - Delivery Preparation -
tonybatista -
Got the delay email today.
Order: 6/14
ESD: 6/27
Delayed ESD: 7/4
Stupid. I'll be calling dell. -
It will be two months tomorrow that I ordered mine, and I still don't have a good system. My second replacement should ship early this coming week.
If they don't get it right this time, i'm getting a refund and getting a Studio.
Edit: I might just sell it. Not to sure yet. I wonder if I can get at least what I paid out of it... -
Boxing still.
Is it possible for my order to go from Boxing to Shipping on a weekend? I know, it won't be DELIVERED, but will it still go through the rounds and make it to the shipping stage on the weekend? -
Yes, they do go to shipping on weekends, but it won't be picked up until Monday.
-
This morning (Friday) my XPS was still in production, but as of now (late Friday night) it has been shipped! I have no idea how or why my order has been shipped, but I called the automated line and the android told me it's on its way to the courier...Hooray!
