***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

Should be here tomorrow.

 

I'll answer the question, it's a hardware issue.

 

Ordered June 29th. New status update as of yesterday: shipped. Guess I was one of the luckier ones =\. Yes, graphics issues are hardware-related.

I hate July 4th... I was supposed to get my order last Friday with next day shipping, but now I had to wait until today, and since they didn't work until today, I might not get it until tomorrow because the tracking number given to me by dell still does not show up on DHL's website, or Dell's for that matter.

 

Mine just arrived! I should be unboxing it soon!

 

Mine just arrived today too. My wife just called and unboxed it... it had the sleeve, cd wallet, remote, but no ear plugs. She was on her way out of the house when DHL arrived and she only glanced over everything real quick so she may have missed them. I was worried more about not getting the sleeve then I was the earplugs.

 

I heard the slot load drives were a little noisy, but now Dell is shipping earplugs with the system? Christ, that's terrible.

 

I ordered mine on July 3rd and I want it now!!!! lol cant stand the wait

 

Sounds like a lot of people are getting their notebooks soon. Congrats!

 

Well, my friend called and said that my laptop arrived safely at his house! Awesome! Now to find out if it works okay. I'll find out when I get into town on Wednesday. I'm so excited!

wow, still in the build stage? This **** is getting ridiculous.

 

i have the optiarc one (i think thats the one that people are complaining about the noise) and yea sometimes when it runs a cd it does make a very loud noise. but if you eject and put it back in, it runs very silently. (at least for me it does) i was thinking of getting it replaced but decided not to go through all the trouble. lol.

 

i bought it from the dell outlet yesterday.

I finally got mine today...(was acually delivered yesterday to my work but I was off) and am playing with it while at work here and it is wonderful! I have the AU Optronics screen and it looks wonderful...haven't seen many opinions on this particular one. I also got the optiarc drive but a little noise doesn't bother me at all. I am very happy with it especially after waiting a whole month to get it!

 

I finally got my delay email. ESD changed from 7/8 to 7/15. Trouble is i leave the country on the 14th and I really really need the laptop. Does anyone know why the phone status says "testing" whereas the reps say delayed? One rep went as far as to say warehouse fire in Korea is causing all 9 cell delays . By the looks of it canceling is the only option i have.

Lol, that's cheating though, already built, but I'm sure you saved some $$.


I called customer service today to ask them about my shipping date because I received an email stating the the ESD was 7/9, but according to the order status page, it still said 7/29. She said the 9 cells are still severely on back-order and should ship by my original date of 7/29.

Anyone know how long the build stage lasts?

 

Well for starters I literally have the exact same computer you have. And from what I've heard the Full HD screen is way better than the LED HD screen. Anyways I ordered on the fourth and mine is in the build stage as of five minutes ago. I know that build is right before test and test before boxing then shipping. So not to long from what I hear until it hits test.

As a side note I do know that build stage sometimes goes back into kitting then back to build and it depends on how readily available part are. Also Im guessing you got yours on the fourth of july sale so there might be an influx of purchases and thus lengthy build. However Dell is EXTREMELY conservative with ship dates. Hope that helped

Order on June 23. In boxing stage as of today. That would be great if I get it in the next week or so!

UPDATE: Called, verified, in production... this went really smooth compared to my bad CS experience in May .

 

I checked my order this morning and it was still "In Production". Went out and played golf, checked my order again, and it "Shipped"! So I should have it tomorrow with the free Next Business Day shipping!

 

Well here I am posting on my new XPS system! Everything looks great - no keyboard bulges, backlight bleeding, or any other issues to report!

Someone earlier wanted to know what accessories were included with the XPS, and I have a canvas-type laptop sleeve, a remote, a set of headphones, and a pleather folder for holding CDS, headphones, manuals etc.

 

I ordered the same day and got the same ESD but today I called trying to find out what phase of production it is in. The lady didn't really understand me I guess but she said it's in production and will ship 07/25!

So i ordered an m1530 with a 9-cell on 6/29, the ESD is 7/29 and the EDD is 8/2-5, from what I've read thoughI'm hoping it comes sooner than that. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm severely excited for this sucker to come.

mostly everything else is the same in each except i got the wireless usb (does anyone have it and like/dislike it?) i also got the sound card!

 

wtf... I ordered mine on the 3rd of this month and my ESD is the same as yours... And I'm still in production.

 

Ya sometimes it happens. No worries though Like it has been said they are extremely conservative with their ESD's. I ordered mine on the 5 My ESD is the 25th. I'm guessing It'll be in the boxing stage within the next week.

Wireless USB what? Mouse? Keyboard?... ???

 

Ordered on 6-24-08 and the EDS is 8-7-08... Its been 17 days and have been in the "build" stage the entire time. Not sure what the holdup is

 

I'm in the same boat, I ordered on 6/24 as well and have been in the build stage since 6/25.

 

No not a specific Peripheral. He means that he had his laptop built with internal USB wireless. So you don't need the USB dongle to connect USB wireless accessories. It frees up port space.

best to call the automated system, site is useless i ordered 6/23/2008 and today when i called in, it is in boxing stage hopefully it is shipped soon, my ESD is 7/15/08 , tried to get the 1 day shipping for free but failed

I had an ESD of August 22nd... Boggles my mind that it would ship sometime today. The Dell Order Status Tracker (under Support) though still says "In Production", but is about an hour late compared to the order list.

I'm excited, but not getting my hopes up (just in case) ...

 

If I were you guys I'd call XPS support and bargain for some free stuff/upgrades

its pretty much in perfect condition. i think they sent me the 13" case though. is it supposed to be that small? isnt my laptop supposed to fit into it somehow?
