***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

Does anybody know if the XPS m1530 still come with any extras(earbuds, cd carrying case, or media remote?

 

It was a 6 cell. I was going to order a 9-cell but in the end I really didn't feel like waiting an extra two weeks (the ESD went from 7/31 to 8/15 or something).

And on the Dell Order Status page it says it shipped DHL Express and has an EDD of 7/30, which is only in two days. Weird because I picked 3-5 day shipping.

But I also ordered a soft case and I received that only two days after they shipped it as well (back like two weeks ago). Weird. But I am SO stoked cannot wait!

 

Well after reading the thread on Dell admitting that their is a problem with the nvidia cards, i decided to cancel the order. My order date was July 9 with an est ship date of 8/8. When I call I'm told I can't cancel, the unit is already built and on the way to the shipper and I need to set up a return. This sucks because now dell will bill me and sit on my money for up to 2 weeks. The csr offered me a $100 credit on a future purchase if I decided to keep it. But at this point, I'm not taking the chance on paying $1000+ for something I'll be paranoid might fail.

I really wanted this computer for what I paid for it but decided it was time to move on. Ordered the Asus M50VM-A1 after talking to Dell.

Dude, your reading into the hype way too much. I got my M1530 like 5 days ago and everything is fine. I tested the cpu/gpui and my temps were normal.



You have 21 days to return if it is not satisfactory, if I were you I would have gotten the system and ran some tests.. Not EVERY card is defective, everyone is hyping this **** beyond belief.

Dude, 21 days isnt enough time for the problem to manifest. I would rather be safe than sorry that one day after the warranty expires the mobo would need to be replaced.

I'm not bashing Dell, it's what i would have preferred but in light of all of the problems with HP's, Dell's, Sony, a $200 MILLION charge, the studio line using ATI, things point that the problem is worse than just a bit of hype.

 

Didn't you choose a repair plan? If so, then you shouldn't be worried either way.

 

Mine's been in production for a week +1 day... I'm really hoping I'm one of those cases where I come home one day to find it at my door step. Although, one measure I'm taking to see if the Order Status page is accurate is checking my credit card balance online every so often.

It hasn't been charged yet

I even have it set up so that status changes are sent to my cell phone.

 

WAHOOOOOO!!! My 1530 is in Los Angeles! It should be here in the morning as long as there isint a massive earthquake. Does anybody know what time Fedex Usually delivers?

 

Mine is now at Allentown Hub, PA. ETA should be tomorrow.

 

Mine shipped 5 days ago with 2 day shipping and I have neither the laptop or tracking number, what are the chances that it got lost enroute from the manufacturing center to the shipper?

 

Mine came in today!!!!! But I wasn't home ....
Mine was also at the Allentown Hub...it took a few hours to get to the delivery station near my town...argh

Well I am supposed to be getting it today it's been "Picked up by delivery courier." The anticipation is killing me...

 

Shipped today. Yay.

 

Got my laptop today. But it didn't included the ear phones. I have confirmed with the agent beforehand about the earphone and have pointed out that it was not in the order list. I got a response that it will have the earbuds when shipped.

I already called Dell and the CR will escalate it. Damn, I even got an email response from the agent that it will come with the earbuds.

 

My order status is all funky!

The page with the nice big arrows has it as In Production still. The other tracking page had it as "Delivery Prep" despite having the ship date as "July 30th 11:35AM"

Now it's shipped (still shows as In Production) but the other one is now Shipped with 11:35am still.

I can't track it yet so I'm hoping I get an email with a tracking number or an updated website.

 

I finally got my laptop today and very happy with it! My only gripes are the fact that it did not come with the nice leather bound case to hold the manual/install disks and the microfiber cloth. I saw plenty of unboxing vids on youtube

I bet the "volume up" button doesn't function very well. Mine doesn't, but I don't care - I have the remote and control over volume in the OS.

 

Ordered my XPS M1530 on 6-24...Now it's been 40 days in the build stage and the ESD is 8-7. I sure hope that I don't get delayed. Is it possible that my order will go from the build stage to testing to boxing all in 5 days?

 

Ordered on 6-24 and now only 2 days until my order is estimated to ship... Although I am still in the build stage (for the 43rd day) , so I wont be surprised if I get a delay email in the following days.

 

I ordered it on 21/7/08! and i think its taking forever! what the hell is wrong here? they are supposed to be ready in 10 days... even earlier! and now mine has 13 days.... what should i expext with LOCKE108 and his 43 days waiting and still in build stage... like me... and mine its supposed to ship on 8/11 and delivering between 14-18/8 and hoping that by some miracle doesnt have any faulty nvidia chip

 

JAV1563... Good News!!!!! I am currently in the BOXING stage!!! Yeah, 44 days in the build stage is a bit long, but I doubt you'll have to wait that long.

I ordered mine on 7-18 and its still in production. Contacted customer service and they said its had a delay but they can't tell me what part or why.

Well, I ordered my XPS M1530 on 6-24-08...When I ordered it the website gave me a preliminary ship date of 8-7-08... Then I called Dell and asked why my order had such a long build time, and Dell replied and told me that I would probably receive my order weeks before the EDS, well that didn't happen and every time I called Dell they told me that there were no delays( which i highly doubted), but my order finally moved out of the build stage and will hopefully ship tomorrow and be here sometime next week.

 

Locke108, you should have told them you wanted to be upgraded to express delivery with that ridiculous build time.

WHAAAAAAAAAT? u ordered it on 24/7 and now its shipped? i ordered on 21/7 and still in the build-in production. stage.... probably will ship 11/8 according to dell... what parts did u ordered?

 

LED screen was the only thing that would have delayed my build at all. I live in Canada so I'm not sure if they are built at different locations...

 

Trust me I've called/ chatted with dell numerous times ...I've asked about upgrading my shipping and they wont do it/ also I've complained about the now 45 day wait and they still don't care. It's also nice when chatting online with dell they say you can get express shipping and then they give you a number to call where they say we cannot give you express shipping.

 

I've officially been delayed!!!!!

 

Damn Locke108 I feel for ya. Please say that it's a shipping delay and not a build delay.

 

Hey guys. I ordered my XPS on 7/16 with an ESD of 8/14. I was pretty surprised it was over a month but I did get two parts that are delayed. (LED Screen and 9-cell battery). But now I'm starting to worry cause I heard Dell is conservative with their dates and your orders will usually arrive before the EDD. Well I called today and its still in the 'build' stage and I read 'boxing' takes 3-4 days so theres still a good chance it can arrive on time. Hope I don't get any unexpected delays.

 

they called me today and said its still in production ( i ordered on 7/22; ESD: 8/20). there is a delay for the led screen. they said they are putting my order on priority and i asked the rep to upgrade to free next business day shipping and she did...but im still waiting.

 

I've ordered mine on 7/12, ESD is 8/11. Ordered with LED and 9-cell. I've contacted Dell on another issue, and this is what I got in reply:

So, after they get it, they'll have ~3-4 days to ship it. Hope there won't be any delays - waiting drives me crazy...

wow... i think mine will be delayed aswell... i ordered on: 7/21 and ESD: 8/11 and its in production-build stage, not even testing :S but if what iarspider says is true... and led screens come to factory tomorrow... maybe i have a shot to be on time...! if that's what they dont have yet... maybe is something else... maybe they are manufacturing a brand new fixed Nvidia 8600Fixed GT card

 

Sorry guys, but HP has in my opinion a better laptop and a better price. I have canceled my order and do not plan on doing business ever again with dell

A similar laptop to the XPS M1530 is my opinion is the HP dv5t series. I customized mine: Here are the specs

And a couple other little things.With tax my order came to being around 1330$ compared to my XPS of 1450$...One last thing this laptop is expandable to 8 gb's of memory. This comp can get pretty fast.!! Ill keep you posted when it ships.

 

Try harder, it is possible. I emailed CS twice, with no success. I spoke with india based CS three times, no success. They stated, "For security reasons, shipping methods cannot be changed". That was BS and I knew it

So, I called again last night and insisted that I speak to someone that wasn't in india, and I was connected to CS based in Central America. He WAS able to change to shipping method, suprise suprise. At first, he said that it would be $59 for next-day shipping. But I explained that after paying close to $2k for their product, and that I've been waiting over 3 weeks, I didn't think a free upgrade to next-day shipping was asking for too much. He agreed, and upgraded me free of charge.

Its definitely possible to get free upgraded shipping. I just called about my order status, and was told that there was a delay due to a battery shortage but it was still supposed to ship out on 8/13 (I ordered 6 cell battery). The rep upgraded my shipping to next day before I could even ask, and then asked me for a phone # and email address because he said he would monitor my order and contact me with updates. I was pretty impressed--seems like its all luck of the draw as far as getting a good cs rep.
