***XPS M1530 Order Status Thread***

I better not get any delays or i will be pissed as hell.

I actually have 2 CSR working on my order right now. I email them every 2 days or so. I was told that my system is still estimated to be shipped on 8/13, and was told about the factory blowing up by an agent i chatted with.

The 2 CSR i emailed hasn't said much about delays or anything of that nature. I did have an inquiry about the bezel delay thought(LED). They sent an email to the manufacturing team, and said they will respond to me on Monday, when they receive a reply.

Ordered my 1530 late on 28/7. Entered production 29/7, with an EDD of 5/8. Seemed to good to be true at the time. 1/8 EDD changed to 18/8. Not impressed by that, considering I have ordered several times from Dell, as has many family members and we have never had anything but smooth sailing and outstanding service. Shipped from factory 4/8. 7/8 was handed over to the local courier, and then it indicated delivery would be made AFTER 12/8. So I contacted Dell via their Web form, asking for clarification as to when I could expect delivery, to be told it would be delivered 11/8. We'll see as to when it arrives now I guess.

 

I just called the order status number and I am still in the build stage. Its supposed to ship on 8/13, which isn't leaving much time for the boxing stage. I have a feeling I'm going to get an email telling me its been delayed. Sooo frustrating. I want my computer!!!

 

stcloude, we have the same setup.

I ordered on 07/26. Just called the status phone number, and system just went from building back to the kitting stage. Hopefully it's will be put together and shipped soon. Progress is better than no progress.

Acutally, i got it in black. Just called again and it's back in the building stage.

 

Yipee! Just called again, and it's now in the testing stage. Building>Kitting>building>testing within 4.5 hours.

hey, i ordered my xps on Aug. 2. I called last week and the automatic thing said my laptop was in pre production. I called again today and it said it is still in pre production. What's the deal?

 

YES I GOT TESTING STAGE FEW MINUTES AGO!!!!

I know boxing takes a few days, so I doubt dell will make tomorrow's ESD

 

thtfld, i think pre-production is when they're still verifying stuff. There is a thread you go to read up about it. I think it's under "Dell Production/building stages." You can google it and do a wiki.

Fairtrade55, Congrat! I think we will be getting our systems flown here on the same plane I should be getting mine delivered to me on 08/14 with my over night shipment upgrade.

Went into boxing stage on 8/10, where it still resides. Hope to have it by friday(next day shipping).

 

I am finally in the boxing stage!! Dell still shows my ship date as tomorrow, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't make it out in time.

 

I'm in the boxing stage now. Hopefully Dell will make the delivery date and get it to me this Thursday.

I'll probably call up DHL and have them route my shipment to my work place.

 

At 12:40AM I was in the testing stage, and by the time I woke up, I was in the boxing stage. Looks like Dell is trying to see how late they can go without going past the ESD...

afrdzak, 12 days in you're still in pre-productin?

I would chat with an agent, and inquire about any delays. Ask him/her to bump up your shipping. He/she will most likely give you a # to call CSR. Tell that person that agent told you to call to and upgrade shipping per his/her request(over night). Also say that agent said a battery factory blew up

Thanks for the advice. I just spoke with a rep and they upgraded my shipping, but they couldn't tell me the reason for the delay. There was no indication of part shortage. He will also send an expedite request.

 

I noticed that when I call the automated number, if I use the purchase ID, the order says 'pre-production'. If I use order number directly, the order says 'build stage'.

Maybe I'll call 'em later:

You will get it on time. Try to keep in contact with one of their CSR and check up with him every 2-4 days to see the progress of your system. Also tell them that you're using this laptop for your business and it's very important you receive it on time.

 

my 1530 just went into boxing today, the day it was supposed to ship. Revised ESD is 8/19 but will probably be before that since boxing takes 3-4 days usually.

 

Fairtrade55, did you get over night shipping? I wonder if mine is going to ship on time or not. I heard boxing can take up to 24-48 hours. 3-4 days would be max.

 

Mantid93, did Dell revise your ship date yet? Were you supposed to ship today or tomorrow? I've heard 3-4 days needed for boxing, since that time is supposed to encompass getting the computer from overseas where its built to a US distribution center where its actually shipped out the customers. Maybe Dell is in full back-to-school mode with shipments to the US everyday, and boxing won't take as long.

 

My friend ordered an m1530 and spent only one day in boxing. This was a few months ago, though. I'm pretty sure it will be similar for all of us, but in general, it varies.

 

Yes, they have already updated my shipment status and it has changed online.

 

I think everyone must realize that all our orders will vary. We can't really tell when we're going to get it. It might be early, it might be delayed. That's Dell for ya!

 

my ESD changed from 8/12 to 8/19 today, although i'm fairly sure it will ship before 8/19 because i dont think boxing takes 7 days

Hey guys first post woo!

I figured I'd wait to post untill i get screwed over in some way by dell like everyone else in this forum, but I just called today and my XPS is in the boxing stage!

Around 3 today it was testing and now its boxing - hopefully i'll get it next week... i think i got lucky because now they have plenty of 9 cell batteries and limited 6 cells.

 

My laptop is due to ship today. I say it has been in the boxing stage for approximately 28 hours now.

I wonder if Dell will make the ship date, and ship it out later on today....

 

Mine was supposed to ship today too, and the website still lists today, but when I call the order status hotline it doesn't give a ship date at all. The Dell rep that upgraded my shipping last week just called me and told me its done being built and he should be calling me tomorrow or Friday with a tracking number.

I have to say, I really am impressed with Dell's customer service. They upgraded my shipping without my even having to ask, and called when they said they would. This will be my first laptop, but my third Dell computer. I'm glad I went with the XPS and not the HP DV5t, and I really hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying that.

 

I just got my delay email. New ship date is August 20th--standard 7 day delay. I really hope the CS rep is right and it ships tomorrow. That way I can still have it before the weekend.

 

It's now 11:37am(PST), and i still haven't received a delay email, if they we're going to delay my system.

I talked to a CSR this morning. He said it's in the final stage of boxing, and it should be shipping soon. He also said that i should receive it late tomorrow or early Friday.

 

Crap! I just got the delay email. It's now delayed until the 20th.

 

I also got a delay email. Same one week delay to the 20th. Still waiting for the order status page to update for this to be official...

 

Mines just gone from pre-production to shipped in the last 5 hours. They've provided my service tag on the packing slip but it doesn't show up when you search for it on the site. Does this mean I'm likely to get a delay too?

 

I just spoke to CSR and he said to disregard the delay email. I was told, if i didn't get it shipped today, i can call back to tomorrow to get a tracking number.

I hope he's correct because he didn't sound to sure. I also mentioned the delay email, and that i spoke to a CSR this morning.

 

Yeah, my order status page hasn't updated, and it's been 3 hours since I got the delay email. I don't think my order will actually be delayed...?

 

I just got home and found a "Delayed" email, like all of you. New ESD is 8/20. BUT.....and a big, BUT.........

I just called Dell and they said the order has SHIPPED. My order status page also states that is has been shipped. CS gave me a tracking number, and I should receive my order tomorrow(next-day shipping). The fed-ex tracking number is good, and confirms my delivery for tomorrow. Anyone that got a delayed email should call to confirm.

 

I hope so. I think it's just an automatic response the system does when it can't ship on the ESD.

 

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I received the delay email today. I called Dell and they said the delay is because the 6-cell battery is not in stock. The 9-cell is in stock though. I asked them to put in the 9-cell instead. They said they would have to cancel the order and create a new one. This would start the order process from square one which would take even longer. I then asked them to ship my computer without the battery and ship the battery later. They couldn't do that either. I also asked them to change my shipping from 3-5 days to overnight and they couldn't do that either. I'm not a happy camper.

 

When did you order your laptop?

I'm pretty sure you can't change your order without canceling/reordering, but getting upgraded to next day shipping is definitely possible. If you call the automated status line (1-800-433-9014), stay on the line to talk to someone about your order, and get a decent representative, you should be able to get that upgrade. It's probably best if you call during normal US business hours to get someone from the Americas. And if you don't succeed, try, try again...

 

My shipping status just got changed online, and now its scheduled to ship 08/20 and EDD:08/21. Thank you for the 7 days delay Dell!

 

I received a 2 week delay! When did you order yours? What type of battery?
