What were your specs? I ordered Fri, but am still in Pre-Prod. WSXGA, 250GB HDD, 8600M.

I had the same thing with a 1520 I just ordered. Then the next day the tracking number showed up, but DHL showed "shipping information" all day, but no actual package scan. The next day I called DHL just to check, and they basically said Dell had created a shipping label, but not actually given them the package. However, I have seen this before with DHL (and UPS), and the package had actually been shipped the day Dell's status had become shipped and it arrived the next day. I really don't like DHL. I new when the rep was talking to me, that this was a possibility and was just thinking she is just lying, because she didn't want to admit the possibility of the discrepancy by DHL. However, I was quite happy that I got the laptop so soon. Unfortunately, I was not very happy with the laptop itself. So here I wait for my own XPS M1530.

I've never had any issues with DHL. Yeah their tracking is confusing at first, but once you've had a few packages shipped to you, you know exactly when your following ones will be there based on the locations. I don't know if they upgraded me at Dell or what, but with 3-5 day shipping, DHL flew it from Nashville up to Niles, MI, cause that step happened in less than an hour and a half.

Yeah, they work on weekends. I ordered mine Fri, too, with the WSXGA screen. The phone status, which is more specific than the web status still says "Pre-Production" which probably means they are still waiting on screens to come in.

for all of you guys getting next day delivery, did you guys specify next day/1 business day service?

and when you guys say, "ordered processed by DHL", do you mean the local hub or the regional hub? and were you notified of the item being out for delivery through the item tracker?

my laptop has been in Allentown, PA since 12AM 1/7, not sure when I can expect it at Boston, MA. Hopefully those DHL thugs/crooks haven't stolen it yet.

mine came today. one day earlier than expected.

its amazing. super fast, and i actually really like vista...its super slick and i haven't run into any problems yet.

keep in mind that the boxing stage is usually always two to three days

also**** if you live anywhere somewhat close to nashville, TN, then don't bother wasting money on expedited shipping through DHL, unless dell is going to give it to you for free. Mine came from nashville to the detroit area in less than a day and a half. ive had none of the horror stories that everyone else apprently is running into with DHL

Well, I realized I could get my same order through EPP for 12% more off, but they made me cancel my Fri order and just re-entered a new order for an identical machine. That's a shame it may not get here before my vacation. But for $280, it's worth it. They threw in free next day shipping, too. More than likely it will get here, but the expected ship date is actually after I leave.

    Waiting.

So what are people's current order date, configuration and order status? I had to reorder mine to take advantage of the EPP discount I wasn't aware of before, but prior to that I had ordered on Jan 4, but still was in Pre-Production this morning. The 1520 I ordered on Dec 28 had shipped at this point, so I think there is some delay, probably the WSXGA screens.

I ordered my m1530 on the 4th it is in Boxing phase as of today...

Did anyone upgrade to 4 year warranty and get the $70 coupon ?
I did that and in the order confirmation email it said that they were giving me $50 Dell dollars code... anyone else experience this?
I called them up and they told me they would credit me $20 and send me another $50 Dell dollars code.

My 1520 came from Nashville. I think they have different hubs around. The one's from Nevada are great for online gambling and porn, the ones from Nashville are best for music mixing.

Hey I got a question. I just received my 1530 today and was wondering about the brightness settings. Are laptops generally not that bright till you max out the settings? This is my first laptop and was just wondering if that is how it goes or if I need a screen replacement. My screen isn't grainy or have any bleeding from the looks. Also, how do I see what type of screen I have?

Generally in the BIOS there are 2 settings for brightness, one for battery powered one for AC. By default the battery powered will be on pretty low, to save power and the AC will be on full high. I usually change this to the battery power at between 2 below full to full, depending. You should really only judge the laptop at full brightness setting.

I understand how to change brightness settings and all but was just wondering if my screen was dimmer than other 1530's on the same brightness level. I'm pretty sure my screen is all dandy now. Got paranoid after hearing about lots of screen problems. Thanks.

I see, wasn't sure of your specific question. I'd say yeah, all laptops aren't that bright if they aren't at or near theirbrightest setting. I've only had 22 laptops or so from IBM (1), HP (3), Dell (9?), Sager(2), Sony(2), Alienware(1), Toshiba(1), Acer(1), Asus(1) and Gateway(1), though.

Mine says it shipped on 1/6...due to be delivered on 1/9...but there's no tracking #??? Says 'data temporarily unavailable' on the website. Phone call and the automated system says something similiar.

On the other hand, the lojack item has a tracking number.

    Anyone else see this before?

I actually ordered mine on the 26th of december and will be getting it on the 10th. Wierd huh? Some people ordered theirs in january and got them before mine. Anyway, I am not bothered at all, as it is still early by one week as originally stated by dell (though I think they state it as extremely late on purpose, so you always get it early). I just hope I get a good one.

Yeah, it was delivered on time. After part of a day, the tracking number showed up, but then when I logged into DHL, it only showed "billing information receive" or something like that. No actual location scan of the package. So after another day, I called DHL. DHL said Dell hadn't given them the package. However, finally, the morning the package was supposed to be delivered, per the Dell information, more tracking information showed up and the package was actually delivered that day. DHL tracking is not that great, they commonly miss a scan when the package is actually on it's way. You can also call Dell and possibly get the tracking number. If they say it's shipped, after a day, they probably have a tracking number, but it may not be showing up immediately on the web.

Well my replacement was supposed to arrive today. I have been home all day and I check the tracking status which says 'Delivery attempted; recipient not home.' What a total lie, not to mention there is no slip on my front door. I talked to DHL CS and they 'assured' me it will be delivered today.

That's the new XPS with the GeForce 8800, LED backlight, quad core cpu. It also uses a fuel cell battery that last 200 hours, has a swivelling multitouch screen, and weighs less than 1 lb and is only 1/2 inch thick.

Woot, mine says shipped now with a delivery date of Monday. Wish I had it for the weekend, but hey, it's well before my vacation which was my main concern. This is the fastest I've ever been shipped a new Dell notebook. But I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the slowest time of year for Dell, right after Christmas. Of course corporate purchases might be highest this time of year, I don't know.

Edit Jan 12: Well tracking shows it's sitting right there at the Houston DHL facility. Knowing better, I called anyway to see if I can pick it up rather than wait until Monday for them not to be able to deliver it because I'm not there. Of course, I can't, just like UPS (and maybe Fedex, too, I don't know) they have to attempt delivery first. No big deal. I've got to start backing up my current notebook, an E1705, to get it ready to sell and transfer my data to my new XPS M1530 :)

I'm sure it varies with volume of business, but mine took less than a day to change from build to boxing. If it takes more than 2 days, I'd be surprised.

Just a quick update here for those experiencing long delays.

I ordered my m1520 on 1/05, and it sat in the build stage for about 8 days. I called up dell today to try and check on what was causing this. The tech said that there was a part shortage on the A/G/N wireless cards. He upgraded me to free next day shipping, and set me up with a sales call tomorrow so I can modify my order if I wish to do so.

hopefully this will get me a m1530 before the end of next week.
