who bought an m1530 around april 22?

Its not insulting at all. Dell doesnt always update their status' on the order pages. Your estimated date is May 6th and the rep told it wouldnt be later than May 9th. You have a component(LED screen) thats in high demand and causing a number of delays for many people

 

You're probably just waiting for an HD in which case hopefully your ESD will stand up.

 

ordered on 14th. original esitmate: 13th. order modified ie. cancelled and resubmitted on May 1st, new estimate: May 14th.

BUT! today, it went from production->testing->boxing! i really hope they ship out today...so i can receive it tomorrow!(next day)

i originally got WUXGA + 250@7200 HDD but swapped the HDD to 320GB instead and while they were at it, i told them to upgrade the wireless card to intel N (not for free of course). can't wait!

 

Yeah I know. Just venting that I keep reading that the ESD's are usually overstated, but looks like mine will either be accurate or understated. The customer service automated number said my order was in "build", so I still would have to go through testing and boxing before it gets shipped.

 

From what i've heard, it can be in build when parts are not available. You'd think it would stay in kitting, but it does not.

 

My 1530 showed up today. ESD was the 20th of this month. It shipped out on Friday.

WUXGA and the 320gb HDD put it on backorder when i bought it.. 3 days in boxing stage.

I freaking HEART the thing. She's beautiful.

 

Yeah, I have heard that too. Funny though that the automated update says its in build with estimated ship date of tomorrow. So far all I have done at work today is read threads and try to find out info on my order. Patience is not one of my stronger points.

According to the phone rep I talked to today, it is actually the T8300 processor that is causing my hold up. I think it is odd that if I go to dell.com and build a new one it says nothing about the T8300 causing a delay but it does show that the LED screen will set it back 5 days.

 

I ordered mine on 4/22 with the T9300, LED screen, and 7200rpm 250gb hdd. The ESD was today, May 5th, but just got a email saying its delayed until the 15th. This is complete bs. I am hopping I made a good choice with dell...

 

I am sure you won't be disappointed once your new system arrives. Dell really does make some nice stuff. It does suck that there always appears to be a wait, but its not like any other manufacturer offers deals as good as Dell, so I guess it is worth it.

 

Last update, system has arrived, WITH A DW306 SCREEN . I was really relieved....fantastic quality (ordered on 4/22 got it on 5/5)

funny thing is if I had not read all the posts regarding the samsung screens, I wouldn't even know what a good thing I had in my hands right now

Congrats Fernando. My update as of this morning my XPS has moved from build to testing. Est ship date was today, however the rep told me it will be delayed 3-5 bus days, so looking like the middle of next week before I get it. Still have to go to the boxing stage. Anybody think I could get upgraded to overnight shipping?

I sorta feel like Steve Buscemi in Armageddon when they are trying to defuse the nuclear bomb and he is over in the corner saying, "do a good job, do a good job". Only instead of defusing a nuclear warhead, Dell is building my XPS.

Its getting close now. By the way, looks like a Dell policy that if your est ship date comes and goes, you get upgraded to next day shipping. They did it for me and I didn't even ask.

 

I ordered mine on 4/22, and I received it yesterday which was 5/5. The estimated date for me to receive it was 5/6, so they gave it to me a day early. I'm glad it came early and that it came with an LG screen!

 

How do you tell which screen it came with?

 

I called and told them that I needed it by the 16th for school (mostly true), and they upgraded it to two day for free. Hopefully they follow through with it.

 

you should be able to check on the order status page. they upgraded my shipping to 1 day and it shows on shipping method.

 

Basically, you can just look at the screen and see if it's bright has no leakage. However, to find out your exact model, you can:

If it hasn't arrived yet, request an invoice from dell (24h after it has shipped), then, at the very bottom of the invoice, get the service tag. Input this number @ dells support site

and see if your monitor is not a samsung (being a samsung doesn't mean that it will be bad).

If it has arrived, simply to this: In Device Manager expand Monitors and double-click on Generic PnP Monitor. Click on the Details Tab and change the Property box to Hardware Ids. Check google (and/or here) to see what brand that hardware id translates into)

This is driving me nuts. I need my instant gratification. I am glad they changed my shipping to over night. My wife is laughing at me for reading all of the reviews and watching all YouTube video over and over again.

 

Yay, I just checked mine using the automated phone system and it is in "boxing" finally. The website doesn't show a change and it also still shows regular shipping, even though a rep said they would upgrade it when I called on Monday.

Well It looks like they are shipping it today. Status shows shipped and delivery date shows 5/8.

 

Mine is still in "Build" stage as it has been for two weeks tomorrow. As far as I know I'm still waiting on an HD.

 

Was hoping that mine would be on the plane next to yours neojack or yours sTIVO (we got the same one btw). But looks like I am still in the boxing stage. Did get the free overnight shipping though.

Yep it came today. So far Okay. I did get one blue screen of death while the initial updates were running. That makes me nervous. Everything else looks great. The LED backlit screen is nice - good color (light pastels show up) and very bright.

 

I got mine today. It shipped on Saturday so that was pretty quick shipping. I forgot how much crap they put on these systems since my last Dell was a Vostro, I didn't have to deal with it.

 

Mine coming tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Actually KTGT it is coming tomorrow. Today (5/12) was my revised est ship date. Dell called me this past Saturday to let me know my order had shipped and was assigned a tracking number with DHL. I got next day delivery upgrade since my original ESD was 5/6. My fingers are crossed since DHL has been known to make errors in delivery. I won't rest easy till its in my hands.

Thanks RingLeadr- you too. Hope they get the LCD delay resolved for your system. FYI- my lappy flew into Nashville DHL, then overnight to Atlanta and back to me in Alabama this morning- so far going pretty fast. Hope to get it around lunchtime.

 

Well, I've not heard anything more yet, but we'll see. I'm hoping it'll come sometime next week. That's when it's supposed to, anyway.

 

Even though I complained a lot about the wait, I must say, it is worth it.

I didn't really think much about the fingerprint reader, but now that I have it I think it is awesome.

 

Got my XPS at lunch today! Can't wait to get home from work and mess around with it.

My system is very similar to that one - the core features minus the processor (I have T8300) are idential and it's supposed to arrive today, shipped on the 15th with next business day shipping.

 

Did you buy it as part of the 40% off sale in April?

This is freaking ridiculous, specially since the online builder shows NO delay, on ANY of the parts, for 1 week now...

As it stands now, I've got a 1+ month wait to receive a #@$@ notebook. Way to go Dell! Really professional... Are they building me a space shuttle or what??!

Meanwhile, I see ppl here ordering similar configs, and GETTING THEM in about a week.. O well.

 

I was going to but had to pay a little bit more to order it on April 24th...I had some issues going on with the bank/my money and I couldn't order during that ridiculous 3-day 40% off sale even though I wanted to!

As a side note, did anyone else notice that the m1530 was fluctuating off and on that 40% sale?

 

Yes. Ordered 4/22, received 5/16. Similar to your specs, but mine was LED.

 

I'm thinking about filing a complaint with the FTC. It seems like they are trying to back out of their advertized 40% off deal by never delivering and hoping I get frustrated and cancel the order.

Every CSR I have spoke with has offered to cancel my order.

 

I ordered mine on the 22nd of April as well. I received it a few hours ago. The supposed last holdup was the 9 cell battery after a screen hold up and hard disk hold up. I got the 1920x1200 screen and 9500 processor.

I posted in the 1530 owners lounge thread with my overall config and thoughts about it.

 

Update: Someone from Dell called to confirm that I still wanted the system delivered on the 27th. I told them that it was unacceptable considering that I ordered on 22APR08 with an expected May 5th ship date and that I am going to file a complaint with the FTC for fraudulent advertising because they can't explain why the ship date keeps getting delayed and keep suggesting that my only recourse is to cancel the order.

Just checked the website and my computer got shipped today. I wonder how that happened...and I'm a little nervous about what they shipped me.
