The Gene is basically the Z390 Dark with, apparently, better RAM support. Again, i wish this board was available in the states. I'm saying that even though I'm staying away from the majority of Asus's mobos
-
-
Ah ok figured...very nice!
Indeed the Gene does have pretty strong RAM OC'ing capabilities... others could take a page from their book for RAM and BIOS UI, although a lot of other companies have upped their game a lot in the bios ui department. As for staying away from most asus boards, I'm with you on that...
Btw...my 3970x build is up for sale... getting rid of it... I find no joy in it at all, whereas my 7980XE tackles anything I throw at it and it doesn't skip a beat.
The AMD has major issues... I'm really bummed at the degradation of the young 7nm chips. I can no longer use my original cpu tuned OC profiles as it now requires a lot more voltages. (For guys like us this really sucks and crushes our OC hobby spirits lol. Unacceptable.) Other OC'ers are having the same issue... No more AMD for me until they can prove otherwise and get more mature with their process, which will take time...Last edited: Mar 17, 2020Ashtrix, Convel, electrosoft and 4 others like this. -

What voltages were you running at on your AMD, was it a daily driver voltage, or you were only using it for 'short' benching sessions? In light of your experience what do you think is the safe upper maximum as a daily driver voltage to not see any appreciable silicon degredation? -

Working on more submissions with my t440p at work
Now sitting at #20 of the Rookie League.
Probably fire up the precision when I get home and get the submissions off of it.
EDIT: Getting my room ready for this weekend so I can set up all my systems and get a lot of submissions over the weekend. I've got to get the rest of the submissions for my desktop, as well as my 13 R3, T440p, and P750ZM.
Shame I wont be able to really push the 4980hq....I forgot that I have an 860m, so maybe the Ranger might get one last hoorah before I try to sell that off for parts.Last edited: Mar 18, 2020 -

Alright guys, someone took my 8th position.
Is there an effective guide for benchmark optimization? I need to cut the fat and tune the OC further and go for gold in terms of the 5700 XT rankings.

Hi,
just bought an P751TM-G from a clevo reseller in the Netherlands. they dont offer premamod and I'm
having some problems to get the expected performance from the system.
as an audio engineer/producer
i would like to have lowest latency possible.
i could get that extra mile by overclocking from what I've read premamod would be my solution but its not available for individuals anymore.
hopefully someone can help me out with this. -
Sorry mate, anyone who has the mod in file format wouldnt share it at of pure respect of Prema's wishes.
That being said there are methods of mitigation without the mod. Tuning via Throttlestop and Afterburner are key tools for the job.jc_denton, electrosoft and Rage Set like this. -
Also with the P751TM, you'll run into thermal ceiling way before you reach stock firmware limits.Spartan@HIDevolution, electrosoft, Rage Set and 1 other person like this.

Thinking about swapping to X299 with a 10940x. I am sitting here with a 10940x on my desk but no motherboard. I figure I game at 4K and I CPU speed is less of a factor for me. I can sell my very good 9900KS and board for a decent price and out of pocket should be pretty minimal and gain some serious processing power. Although I don't really need it, I guess it would give me something new to toy around with and I wouldn't need more cores or threads anytime soon. Anyone have any input?

Hey Talon, I didn't know you had a KS too? Nice. How does the KS run? ie... Voltages at 50x, 51x 52x, 53x and can it hit 54x or 55x at ambient?
Two of my KS's can hit 55x on ambient, while the other two are rock solid at 53x with one being able to hit 54x.
The golden KS can do 50x @ 1.14v.
It has been a blast running them and tuning the KS on the gaming rig. It tackles both gaming and recording via obs at 1440p like a charm with very low Temps. Gaming at 50x only reaches upper 40C's and at 53x upper 60C's. The averages are even lower.
As for your scenario, I agree with @Mr. Fox "dooo ittttt." I've been tempted to game with my 7980xe and run it at 50x... Also mainly to run different tests with different core counts to mimic the amd counterparts to show how and why Intel is still king for gaming.
I know
@Johnksss uses his 7980xe for frequent gaming.

Alright now to find a board. I see EVGA has the X299 Dark on sale right now, is this the board to go with? I have had good luck with Asus boards over the years and love their UEFI and am familiar with it. But the high end board is like $799 which is insane. The Strix II board looks adequate but lacks some basic things I would expect from a motherboard selling for $500.
I do an it's a really good KS chip. I run 5.1Ghz all core with 4.7Ghz Cache with 1.26v in BIOS. I'm not sure this is P95 AVX stable but it hasn't blipped once in the months I've been using it with this setup. With my basic AIO it does 5.3Ghz all core for benching. 5.4Ghz is where she stops at least with my setup. A better board or cooling might do the trick, or just more voltage. What volt do you have to push to hit 5.4? 5.5?jc_denton, Convel, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -
Evga X299 10000%. Excellent board. Strong as iron. It won't disappoint.
54x @ ~1.40v range and 55x @ ~1.45v +/- on Ambient.Last edited: Mar 20, 2020Rage Set, Convel, Talon and 1 other person like this. -
Yeah, absolutely. X299 Dark all the way. ASUS has great BIOS (probably the best, in fact) but durability is poor. Plus, I've beaten all of my Rampage Apex scores with the X299 Dark without nearly as many BIOS bells and whistles.

Lots of submissions coming in over the weekend, had to tune the machines and have yet to even set up the precision yet.
Took a day off from work Monday so I can have the time to get everything sorted. Checking all the boxes for every benchmark is actually kind of taxing lol, most of which I have never used before. wPrime seems to crash on start up so I havent been able to use it yet.
Not sure if I will try for the Ranger set up just for the extra submissions, but as you guys can tell most of my attention has been spent on keeping my 5700 XT up there.
I was pushed to #11, but after some tuning, I was able to punch back up to 7th for Time Spy Extreme at least lol Re-upped my subs for some GPU benches as well as a result.Rage Set, Convel, iunlock and 1 other person like this. -

As I continue the hunt for a killer UV @ 4.5-4.7 all core 9900ks chip for my TM1 (tuned for quiet as possible, but can open up both barrels if needed
), I'm curious what is the best vcore setting you can run @ 4.5 all core on your bevy of 9900ks chips for a CB20 run? Realbench 2.56 Stress? I have a couple 9900k's that can do 5.2 @ 1.35/1.38, but @ 4.5 running CB20, they top (bottom?) out at 1.1v. I'd like to see how viably lower some 9900ks's can go to establish an optimal sweet spot @ 4.5-4.7 @ or sub 1.1v.
-
that whas never my intention.
no one other than prema himself should offer me the premamod bios.
I've seen various posts on different forums about scammers to people not even giving prema a simple thank you for his generosity.
I'm not like that if prema would offer me the bios then he would be rewarded for his help and contribution. -
When you ask in a thread that features many PremaMod members if someone can help you, we are going assume you are asking for the BIOS. We are going to fiercely defend him.
Now, the thing you should know that some resellers may try to void your warranty if you use any BIOS not authorized by them or Clevo. That is why we are always going to recommend people buy from an authorized, Premamod partner, which will offer a warranty. I believe that is the only way to get the Premamod BIOS.Papusan, electrosoft and jc_denton like this. -

I did a test on my 9900KS for you. I ran 48x all cores, 44x cache, 4000Mhz CL17 ram, at just 1.1v BIOS with 1.05v at load in CB20. Punched out 5089CB, max temp 53C and 119w total package draw measured in HWinfo64. I might be able to go lower if I were to lower the memory clocks to something more baseline.

Nice and thank you! I'm wondering how much lower than 1.1 @ 4.5ghz CB20 and total pull if it can do 119w total and 1.1 @ 4.8 which already puts it in my purchase range?
I'm not so concerned about the top end but the lowest voltage setting @ 4.5. This is because my 8086k in my TM1 runs at 4.5ghz all cores and with a -150uv it is basically quiet during normal day to day use. Even benching fans will hit less than 50% so I am trying to achieve something close to that for day to day at the same frequency with the extra threads. My desktop 9900k's can hit 1.1 @ 4.5 CB20 so I would hope to find something lower. -
