Set Vcore to 1.30v, LLC4 in BIOS, boot at 5 ghz core, 4.7 cache, SVID Behavior=best case scenario, power saving and C-states disabled please, and tell me the VID shown in windows at idle? Then we'll see.

So using those settings it idled at 1.17VID. ( Shoot forgot to disable c-states and power saving but kept it at 5Ghz all cores with high perf selected in Windows).

Idle and Cinebench Run @5Ghz all cores.

Wow two golden CPUs in a row for you huh?
    That's 40mv better than mine.

I'll test the retail bought 10900k when it arrives later today.

You don't have your vcore sensor showing in hwinfo64 so I can't see your "minimum" load voltage.
That chip should be capable of 1.10v minimum load voltage at 5 ghz without crashing.

Will get some more in depth testing done tonight hopefully. I had to reinstall Windows 10 twice. First install was having some crazy issues with drivers and hardware. Weird NIC and audio card issues. Unable to find other hardware/driver at all. It was super weird. I updated the BIOS to latest Asus, then wiped and reinstalled Windows 10 again and now all seems to be smooth sailing. Also found when using high speed memory kits Set Asus Tweak to Mode 2, Mode 1 and Auto were throwing random BSOD at reboot, shutdown, or just randomly while using OS lightly and could not get higher than 4000Mhz. Now with Mode 2 I am testing 4400Mhz CL17 with 8gbx4 config with 1.45v dram and 1.2 VCCIO/VCCSA with zero BSOD.

Sounds like you might need to do some HCIMemtest runs if the RAM & setting combinations are borderline...using BSOD's as a measurement of stability during normal use isn't a very high or accurate bar.

Trust me it was 100% the Mode selector in my BIOS. Tested exact symptoms on another Z490 Maximus board with a separate 10900K and some 4266Mhz ram and it did exactly the same thing. Random BSOD at shutdown or restart. It was almost like clockword. My ram is 4400Mhz rated ram kit that has been tested on previous builds as well. It has no issues with the speed and was just me forgetting which mode to select in the BIOS, coupled with some lack of sleep lol. As soon as we turned both systems to mode 2, all BSOD issues went away. That said I will be doing some memory focused stressing later.

Pretty damn accurate. I can pass Cinebench R20 with no logged WHEA errors at 1.17v BIOS/LLC 5 with 1.074v load. 5Ghz and 47x cache. Not bad at all. I don't think I've seen a 8th or 9th gen chip that can do sub 1.1v at 5Ghz lol.

https://ibb.co/8mDb99q -- Score about 75pts low since I was listening to some tunes while running this.

Thats a golden chip. Your base VID at 5g is the same as mine at 4.9 ghz. You should be able to game on it at 5.3 ghz on all cores at around 1.25v load vcore and 5.4ghz should be your all core limit.

Can you test what *load* vcore absolute minimum you can go down to to run Cinebench R20 multiple times without a CPU Cache L0 WHEA error? Thanks so much.

Talon can you go into your Asus BIOS and check the "SP" value?

    Average chip is 63
Yours should be over 94 because mine is 94...
The chip holding the LN2 world record is 117....

See your SP is higher than mine. My chip is in the top 6%. Yours is golden. Asus Shamino told me it's rare for end users to find a chip higher than 100% (unless it's pre-binned).
I wonder if this is one way Silicon Lottery bins their chips more effectively before stress testing....

Take care of it and congratulations. You have won the lottery.

Confirmed just a few minutes ago regarding PrimoChill. I used Amazon Pay. I went for a new SX "Flat Edition" in case I ever get a wild hair and decide to play with DICE or LN2. If anyone wants a great deal on the original WetBench, let me know. I won't have any need for it in a couple of weeks. @Johnksss have you seen the new flat-deck WetBench?

I love that joke lol. Surprise Intel Technology.

10900K with per core usage overclock. 5.5Ghz 1.340v in BIOS with LLC5 on Maximus Hero XII.

I haven't even delidded this thing yet which can drop temps 10c or more. Still debating whether I should and get some better cooling than a 280mm AIO. Just seeing 5.5Ghz on the desktop is insane for a 10 core chip.

Seems like 10900K is a whole lot better than some people predicted it was going to be. You've certainly got a nice one if you can leave it at 5.5GHz with 1.340V. That's pretty sweet.

Here's another decent video debunking the emo Intel negativity.

I'm waiting for EVGA. Knowing them, the Z490 Dark won't launch until mid to late summer. The only issue I see is that Asus supports upwards to 5000Mhz RAM on their Apex and even 4800* on the Extreme, whereas the Dark is only 4600. That's EVGA's only weakness compared to Asus (to be fair, Asus has the best memory support of all board makers).

I will say I am impressed by what Intel did with the IHS on the 10900K. @Talon I don't think delidding is necessary unless the average drop of 7C is truly needed. I say get a 480 rad if your case supports it or two 280's.

    * I highly doubt the Extreme will boot with 4800 RAM. If it is anything like the Extreme 11, 4266 will the highest you can go.

Even I'm considering upgrading my 6700k to a 9700k or 9900k after the rocket lake drops, which AMD fans are discounting stupidly (should be close to 20% IPC jump while on 14nm still, so high clocks). Don't see the 9700K as worth more than $275-290 used and generally or the 9900k as worth more than $380 used (especially with the 10700k out at $440-450 and $420 on a 3900X). But may have to wait on the used market to catch up with my sentiment.

I still have my Z170 board and evidently the BIOS mod for it is pretty simple. So why not throw that in there.

I'm trying to hold off upgrading any systems until Zen 4 5nm or Intel 7nm (don't know if I'll make that though).

But really looking forward to the new Nvidia GPUs. If rumors hold, the 3080 Ti should be 50% over the 2080 Ti and the big die RDNA2 card will be 40% over the 2080 Ti (AMD still loses, but at least they are trying at the top end again and that might bring down costs a hundred or so, hopefully). Going to pick one up at launch most likely.

But I must admit, nice numbers on the 10900K. Was worried it would be hot, as others were, but Intel did a great job on it.

very good to all I am waiting for the 10900kf to come out .... Regarding the plate I discard and the dark I do not wait until the summer or crazy ... xd, you who prefer apex or extreme .... apex 16 phases at 70 amps and extreme 16 phases at 90 amps ... the big question are bent phases? because I think a msi ace meg with 16 bent intersil phases and 90 amps is better ... I don't know what you think and what is the best motherboard?

Knowing how you enjoy RAM overclocking, I'd stick with the ASUS boards. No telling if the MSI will be able to handle it as gracefully. Not nearly as many overclockers on HWBOT are using MSI motherboards. I seriously doubt that is a coincidence. MSI seems like more of a gamer brand than a serious overclocker brand, but that's just my perspective.

Well... I installed the Wetbench flat edition. I love that it is flat. That's exactly why I bought it. But... other than that, I think I like the old one better. It was larger (several inches wider) and I like that it was, and it was easier to hide clutter under the middle deck. This looks a little messier and I spent a lot of time trying to make it look tidy. I installed the PSU with the back facing forward to keep all of the cables out of sight and I think it looks better that way. So @Johnksss and @Rage Set if you guys were thinking of going with this flat one, see my comments above.

Anyhow, I will probably put the old one up for sale in the NBR Marketplace tomorrow.

Looks really good brother. I was afraid there would be flex with weight but it appears to be handling the weight of your build quite well. Right now I have a glut of cases that I either need to sell or give away.

I was able to warranty exchange a motherboard I purchased used off a member on NBR through Asus without providing a receipt (invoice). That was a couple of years ago and with @Mr. Fox recent issues with exchanging his Apex, things could have changed for the worse. Asus is doing some rather odd things lately, like upgrading mobos within months of their release.

How much is a 2080 Super compared to a normal 2080?

If that is a normal 2080, that isn't worth the price. Unless the prices of new 2080 Super cards are overpriced where you live.

So i bought my alienware off of facebook marketplace it works well , while playing apex legends it started to crash but it plays all other games fine no crashes anyhow i repaste the laptop but im new to this and i did not trouble the thermal pads , the repaste went well but when i tried to play apex legends it still crashing all temps are fine but im wondering since i did not change the thermal pads could that be causing problems ? When i underclock my gpu memory with MSI after burner apex legends does not crash. So i was thinking maybe i need to strip the laptop again and change the thermal pads, also do you guys know what kind of thermal pad i need for the alienware 17 2015 (980m) video card im kinda nervous about replace thermal pads i never did that before.

When I first got the laptop the power connector that was connected to the mother board had to replace it was burnt out but other than crashing with apex legends it runs well, did try to run fire strike but its not stable as it should be so once again im wondering since the laptop is so old maybe the thermal pads did need changing thats causing it to not pass the firestrike each time or is that the gpu days are coming to an end ?

Does this mean my hardware is outdated or does it mean my hardware is not functioning properly and it will die soon ?

When you see mobile mxm prices, that's when you really begin to appreciate desktop price tags. :p
