Welcome back 'dspboys' @temp00876 - nice to see you around these parts again. We missed you, bro. Also, welcome to the @Prema Mod HWBOT Team.
@Johnksss @Papusan @Rage Set and others that remember the P870 glory days you were a vibrant part of. Also, nice to see you have joined those of us that have moved back over to the desktop side where it all began. Really sad the way laptops are circling the cesspool drain today. -
Wait for Zen 3. More IPC and lower latency, which will help with many things. Also without 4 core CCX, higher boost. That's what is known.
Granted rocket lake, which may be delayed until early next year, will have around 20% IPC. Have to wait to see if they can maintain the frequency on the new architecture, though.
Still bet Intel on GPU for the foreseeable, but CPU, could start to see more encroachment until rocket.
But that is tit- for - tat. One upsmanship has helped drive many things in our society for a long time.
Either way, I'm still planning on Intel for my next chip, then amd for my next server and firewall builds. I've got enough love for them all, except maybe RTG. Radeon has a ways to go to get in on this love fest.

Yes, indeed. And, any and all gains made ultimately benefit us all and drive the tit-for-tat competitive nature of things that has been painfully missing for such a terribly long time. There is no downside to any of that I can identify. Let the blood flow, LOL.
Have a great weekend, bro.Rage Set, Papusan, jc_denton and 1 other person like this. -
Off topic... those of you that know me well know that I do occasionally enjoy gaming. Not nearly as much as I do overclocking of course. But when I'm in the mood for it I do play games, and my interests are mostly limited to first person shooter titles as long as they are primarily linear run-and-gun titles with little story and no strategy. And, when it comes to paying for games I am a major cheapskate/tightwad.
Well, Doom Eternal is a title I've been eyeing since before it was released, but there's no way in hell I'm paying $60 for any game unless maybe it is a new Crysis title that I can count on playing for a decade or longer. It went on sale for $30 on Steam. Even though $20 would been more in line with what I expect to pay, I grabbed it and I have to say it looks and plays amazing. I am not in a gaming mood right now, so I have only spent about 30 minutes on the campaign. But, so far I am pretty darned impressed.Last edited: Jun 27, 2020Rage Set, Robbo99999, ssj92 and 3 others like this. -

Thanks brother Fox, it's nice to be back
I have missed all of you guys although I visit the forums from time-to-time, I haven't posted anything using my other account @sweepersc hehe Although I have completely moved to desktop, my old 6700k+980N is at my parents house. I use it every time I'm there.

Not sure why the video is playing choppy on YouTube. The game is as smooth as glass and so is the video before I uploaded it. Maybe it's not done processing or something. It is rendered in 4K 60FPS but only 1080p is available at the moment.

Thanks for the heads up on Doom Eternal. I was able to add a 49 cent game to get $5 bucks off as well (Steam had/has $5 off if you spend $30). I installed it but haven't had time to play it yet. -
Sure thing. That was a good catch on the $5 off. I missed seeing that option.
DOOM Eternal is even better than I expected. I played a little more last night and really like it. It looks amazing. I will be curious to hear how you like it.
Not sure why the video I uploaded is still choppy, other than Youtube just being Youtube. I have had that happen before on videos with higher than 1080p resolution. -

That's a great intro that game has, and after looking at some of the level briefly I like the atmosphere, I'll probably get this one, even if I haven't finished the first Doom (2016)...I might wait until it's in an even lower sale, I've not played a computer game for 4 months or something, can't believe it! -
Yes, it is totally amazing atmosphere and graphics are insanely good. Beware of some driver glitches using GeFarts latest that you might run into, courtesy of the Redmond Mafia partnership and their latest OS abortion. It took me a couple of days to figure out what went wrong. Some were blaming the game devs, but I knew better. Windows 7 and LTSC worked fine. 1909 and 2004 were broken. But... I figured it out. Problem solved. See post #81 https://steamcommunity.com/app/782330/discussions/0/2570942028829609937/?ctp=2#c2570942216292569102

I bought an asus rtx 2080ti and I have a 1080p 144hz monkeys, it turns out that when I play the BF5 and play at 144hz the game jumps to the desktop, I have to put the monitor at 60hz so that it goes well, it only happens to me with that game ... but it is very rare should not have any problem ...
Mr. Fox likes this. -
It could be just a bug in the game, but in the past I found Battlefield and Call of Duty titles didn't play nice with refresh rate overclocking. You might try resetting the monitor defaults. Some 144Hz monitors are 120Hz with a factory overclock. My 165Hz Predator monitor is 144Hz with a factory overclock to 164Hz.

I'm still deleting the folders and using the moded 436.15 setup configuration file. Who does bloats?
Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk -
Yeah, that is definitely the right way to do it if you want the best outcome.
I have (or did when I posted) W7, W10 LTSC, W10 Pro with heavy mods and a W10E 2004 full cancer edition. I use the cancer edition as my disposable crash dummy OS to run games, allow the Redmond Mafia to molest it and install GeFarts bloatware to see what gets broken. The other OSes are not updated, heavily tweaked, stripped down drivers, etc. And I use them for benching.
When DOOM Eternal stopped working completely on the cancer OS I found it would run on the others that didn't have the full payload of GeFarts driver filth. Installing my tweaked bloat-free NVIDIA drivers resolved the issues on the cancer OS.
After that I got rid of the W10 Pro and added a second Linux distro. So now I am booting Linux Mint 20 and Pop!_OS 20.04 along with W7, LTSC and W10E cancer OS.Last edited: Jul 9, 2020 -

OK, figured out the Cinebench R20. The default Wine setup was identifying the OS as Windows XP, LOL. Scores are lower than Windows because of using Wine, but still not too shabby.

Ha, man, you nearly gave me a heart attack when your post flashed up and I skimmed my post you quoted and then immediately "Yeah I can put some...." as a pic of your table flashed up on my screen....so within the space of a few hundredths of a second I thought you were gonna "post" something "on your table" that was gonna get you banned in a blaze of glory.....well it's something to keep in mind if turdbooks become increasingly more turd than book! But yeah that's a great thing to do re SSD in ****ty notebook, it really does make a difference, my Dad is still rocking his Dell Inspiron 17 with dual core Sandy since I replaced the HDD with an SSD way back in 2011....SSD was never ever an official option in that model, but if you can get to the hard drive you can put in an SSD! People kept commenting on how fast his laptop was and asking what model it was, etc, but yeah I guess that was to be expected back in 2011 when SSD was not common, one of the best bits of tech advancements for PC in recent times. Nice job with your mother in laws turdbook.....still trying to get on the right side of the mother in law hey!

Yes sir. It really is nice to put your hands on things that are more substantial. Depending on the laptop you are used to and the desktop you are building, it can be similar to switching from a Vespa scooter to a Suzuki Hayabusa.Rage Set, electrosoft, jc_denton and 1 other person like this.

Since it is a laptop and it can go anywhere, I would metaphorically equate it with the world's fastest dirt bike.
It should come as no surprise that a KTM comes in at number one, but of all the KTM 450 bikes out there, it’s the KTM 450 SX-F that steals the show. This model is a championship winner. KTM rider Ryan Dungey once piloted this model into Motocross history when he won the championship on it back in 2012, and continued the feat again and again in 2015, 2016, and 2017. While Dungey is undoubtedly one of the most talented riders in the world, his KTM 450 SX-F also played an important part in those victories, chiefly thanks to its unparalleled top speed.
Powered by a slick and compact 449cc KTM engine, the 450 SX-F is essentially an off-road racing machine that us mere mortals can just go and buy. Boasting a small, lightweight design, the engine is capable of delivering up to 63 horses of peak torque that can propel this off-roader to speeds of up to 123 miles per hour. As KTM themselves are fond of saying: “the KTM 450 SX-F is simply the fastest Motocross bike out on the track,” and they are not at all wrong. So, if anyone asks you what the fastest dirt bike is that you can go and buy off of the shelf, the KTM 450 SX-F would be the correct answer to give them. -
BGA Jokebook is disgusting, but you get points from them. Some desktops can be on level with Jokebooks as you can see. Bro Fox isn't a laptop jockey anymore. But this desktop won't make him smile and want one

But for me part of the experience of getting a desktop, is building it yourself with your own hands.
