I was right in the beginning. It does require a cancerous dung-eater version of Windoze OS X. Dammit. I've got a crash test dummy installation of that, but it means I can only play this on that one pile of crap OS on the one system I have allowed to be tainted by it. That really sucks. Might as well be a UWP pile of trash. If you prefer using a good version of Windows, Linux or Mac OS then you're just screwed as far as the Enhanced version is concerned. That's why I cannot get it to launch. I haven't tried on the dung-eater version. I was looking at the system requirements for the standard version, which is Windows 7/8.X/10/Linux/Mac compatible.

And this is why gaming laptops need to get thicker again. We've long passed the point where we should've stopped making laptops thinner. There's no reason for a performance laptop to be less than an inch and a half thick.
The power density of ever decreasing process node sizes is going to necessitate even more advanced cooling solutions than we have now.electrosoft, Rage Set, Papusan and 2 others like this. -
The problem is the user-base is less advanced. When stupid is the new normal, mediocrity, compromise and incompetence gets a pass from the dumb-dumbs that don't know what they don't know.electrosoft, Rage Set, Papusan and 3 others like this.

This is the future I was afraid of. DXR and Shader Model, because of WDDM. Makes sense since DX12 is updated through WDDM which is only updated with new Win10 versions, this was the plan for M$ their stupid strategy maker Satya Nadella who is a loyal enabler for the shareholders who would dictate this kind of approach, all M$ products are now Service based, that's how M$ is going to lock down all the PCs out into their hellhole of bs Windows As a Service junk. Damn 10 years back if anyone said this was the future we are going to see, I wouldn't believe it. But now I would say by next 10 years once the sub 2nm nodes are the ones that are leading edge, then they will made DaaS - Desktop As a Service. I bet that's where it's going to. These console generations might be the last ones which sport Physical Hardware and Optical Disc media. The usual lifetime of the Console gen lasts for a decade so by 2030 the HW fully will become Service based. Add electronic cars which have end to end tracking system and Software OTA system with inbuilt computers and all, that's how it's going to be.
A proper George Orwellian nightmare. Just like the movie Equilibrium, If I even post this kind on usual msm sites, I would be called a fanatic for sure and would be an outcast.
iPhone will remove USB / Lightning port and make it full wireless only, they will remove SIM tray for eSIM and all the Android OEMs and other technology corporations will follow, since Apple is owned by upper echelons elites the same will be pushed to all other corporations (Hint - Look at the UX on Mac OS and Windows and Android, everything is downgraded to dumb down people). Eventually a thin client display will be replacing the phone hardware. People are buying those AirTags joke which uses Ultra Wide Band to track the Tag using other people's iPhones. At this point I lost hope in masses, they are cattle. Braindead consumers. Just like how people are using Win10, you should see Steam forums, people ask for X game works on 7 or not when I jump in and mention Simplix and how Win7 SP1 can be updated without any hassle PLUS DX11.x is needed for many games on Win7 SP1 because SP1 doesn't have that (Mafia DE Remake for instance), all Win7 users get is flak from the ignorant crowd that how Win10 is advanced and Win7 is dead.
Future PC hardware on Windows will be a mess, I doubt now that LTSC will even support games going forth, M$ knows all of it, but right now they do not care much about folks using LTSC Windows vs the usual cancer laced Home / Pro / Enterprise Windows 10 licenses.
For this exact same reason Z390/Z490/Z590 and X470/B550/X570 are the true last platforms to support Win7. Soon the Legacy CSM will be removed off the UEFI BIOSes from the next gen platforms (It'd be a miracle if it's still left on, on ADL maybe if we disable those trash small x86 cores it may work on Win7 since no scheduler updates required). The only thing we can do is Proton to play new games if we do not want Windows 10 trash on our machines, even then I heard systemd is a hostile takeover of Linux as well, these people are everywhere.Last edited: May 12, 2021Clamibot, electrosoft, Rage Set and 2 others like this. -
Yup. Totally. Systemd sucks and stupidity is definitely the new normal. We are totally surrounded by abject, morbid stupidity. We've seen a hostile takeover by mankind's lowest common denominators across all parts of the spectrum, including technology and popular "science" (quotes are intentional). Traditional decency and common intelligence still exist in a silent majority whose only real vices are timidity, humility, demonstrations of unmerited kindness, and a complacent tolerance for an emotionally disturbed minority rooted in an unrealistic belief there can be peaceful coexistence with the socially insane. We need to stop believing in a fantasy that they will eventually pull their heads out. Train derailments are always sudden and unexpected. There needs to be an unrestrained counterstrike of an epic and devastating magnitude that affords no opportunity for recovery or reprisal if we ever want to see the train back on its rails again because stupidity is more contagious than a coronavirus.Last edited: May 12, 2021

It is running fine on the cancer OS (20H2). SMH. I honestly don't see any improvement in the "Enhanced" version. I guess I am going to have to install the original and run it again to determine if there actually is any meaningful improvement. If there is any, it must be more subtle than profound because this does look any different than I remember from playing the original Metro Exodus.

I just hope that one day in the future, when laptops get reeeeaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyy bad, to the point where they are absolute and utter filth that even the most retarded people have trouble using, that some sense will be knocked into everyone and things will change. Though, it seems the companies have learned that if they go juuuust above the expectation bar, they will be alright. But the main issue is that the expectation bar is way to low for my likings and most other people on this forums' likings. I hope something will change in the future, but I doubt it
What's strange is that I have talked to lots, and I mean lots of people about their thoughts on laptops, and sizes and whatnot, and most if not ALL of the people have said that they DON'T MIND having a slightly thicker laptop for the sake of better performance and less heat. Though, as Mr. Fox has said, stupidity takes over, hence why we haven't seen too much innovation in the high performance laptop space.
Sorry if this was a bit off-topic, been eyeballing this thread and this topic popped up... and everyone here seems pretty chill

Best buy has 11900k's in stock (finally) at $549.99 if you wanted to give 11th gen a whirl:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/intel-...ked-desktop-processor/6452222.p?skuId=6452222
I ordered another one to test against mine as I have no way of quantifying or qualifying my chip outside of the fact it pulls much less @ 5ghz on CB23 than my 11700k did (1.456v vs. 1.376) which it
should have done anyhow with all settings on auto (except for multiplier) for both no offsets. -

It will be curious to see what Best Buy yields both overclocks and underclocks.
Let me know how much CB23 @ 5ghz wants to pull. Luckily you have some Asus boards so you'll be able
to get an SP rating so I can correlate your SP rating to the pull at that setting for a general reference.
I'm on the hunt for not necessarily the best overclocker but the lowest pull at 5ghz as I contemplate giving the X170KM a whirl
and I would end up probably somewhere around 4.5 to stock 4.8. -

Laying the final groundwork so when the other 11900k comes in tomorrow I can see what it can do. This one has taken everything I've thrown at it at 5.2 and at worst will thermal throttle (or get close) but never BSOD BIOS Vcore setting @ 1.475.
Tomorrow's chip will need to do 5.3 all core or 5.2 substantially cooler to not get returned.

Nice! I considered grabbing another 11900K to see if I can get a better chip. That best buy price, plus I have a 10% off brings it down to $500 plus tax and free overnight shipment. How Many CPU Cores Do You Need For Great PC Gaming? hothardware.com
However, we can see a day coming where some games will take advantage of 12 or more threads. Cyberpunk 2077 is a great example, as it scaled all the way up to 12 cores when the GPU wasn't a limiting factor. We see a lot more of that coming our way, now that the latest generation of consoles have support for up to 16 threads.
Ideally, if we were building a new gaming PC today, or just upgrading and keeping our current GPU due to shortages, we'd definitely want to go with eight cores at a minimum and let our collection of games grow into it.

That's exactly what I did. I had a 10% off elite code and two day shipping (I'm not elite plus yet), so I figured why not take a stab at it since 6900xt's are not showing up anytime soon on Best Buy. If tomorrow is a dud or not enough of a gain, I'll end up returning it. I do hope someone locks down a near fail proof delidding procedure sooner than later.
With an SP83, the odds are definitely not in your favor to score better but then again with your lucky streak....
Meh, it's Firestrike the domain of AMD (except for #2 which is a 3090) and getting old. I switched over to Timespy as my watermark quite awhile ago. When AMD dominates Timespy that's when I know they will have officially arrived. I game at 4k RT enabled the land of Nvidia but I still want to give a 6900xt a whirl with my 5800x though. I just won't pay the outlandish prices being asked atm.
I'm waiting for 5950x prices to get back to sane levels too, but glad to see even scalped prices are trending down on average.

So I started testing the new chip.
Vastly superior.
Bios setting 1.375v vs 1.475v for 5.2
Pulling 50w+ less @ 5.2 (~280w)
It will make it through a complete 5.3 run of CB23 but thermal throttles on 3 out of 8 cores so I need to up my cooling and/or wait for a proper delid process (or submerge the radiator in an ice bath).
It pulls a max of 364w @ 5.3 no offsets on CB23
Passes CPU-Z Bench @ 5.3 no problem.
It runs MUCH quieter overall.

For 6000 series, you can use the MorePowerTool (MPT). They have some 6800/6900's pulling 400w+ now. -
Excellent! 1.375v is crazy good for 5.2. Is this with LLC4/5? Also is that just CB23 stable or have you done any long term testing? I running 1.385v for 5.1Ghz LLC5 which is Realbench multi hour stable. If your chip can do 5.2Ghz at same voltage that is great. I might just try my luck and roll again before that discount expires. I can pass CB23 at 5.3 all core with LLC7 and 1.45v, at least I think it was 1.45v. But LLC7 means I'm essentially sending that much voltage through it at all times which I doubt would be safe for daily. Look forward to more results from you.

I left everything at auto for LLC so I'm not sure what MSI defaults to or what is the MSI to Asus LLC conversion table.
For testing, I started in large drops for single runs of CB23 1.475 in .025 drops till it crashed during 1.350 and worked my way back up. It would run 2-3 minutes @ 1.370 but eventually crash. I ran it for 10 minute loop @ 1.375. Max temp was 82 and fans weren't at max. My other chip crashed about 15 seconds in at 5.2 @ 1.450 and 1.460.
I tried auto for 5.3 and it crashed halfway through. I eventually started randomly @ 1.525 based on some runs I've seen online at 5.3 where I looped it for a few minutes but it was throttleville because of heat. I'll get back in there later and see how much I can chop that down. My other chip would run for a few seconds before crashing @ 5.3 and temps never even got to climb no matter how much I fed it up to 1.6 where I stopped. It would even crash on CPU-Z Bench @ 5.3 randomly.
I was looking through Arni90's results on his SP84 over on the other forums and it was crazy how his chip had amazing thermals and pull up to 5.2 running CB23 (~263w package power) then totally bombed on 5.3 even with 1.6v.
Upgraded cooling would do me wonders.
Right now I'm seeing where the IMC lands for gear 1 and it is running 3866 at the moment no problem. My other chip topped out at 3733. Another plus.
This chip is an improvement in every single way. I'm happy I took the plunge because I was happy with the other chip since it could do 5.2 all core and passed my array of stress tests. It was just hotter and hungrier.Last edited: May 14, 2021Papusan likes this. -

Running more tests but my cooling has me throttling at 5.3 full 16. I finally turned off HT and was able to complete runs without hitting the thermal wall on auto even.
G1 3866 is locked in so far too.
I tested some CB23 single thread runs no problem except for how long they took.
I'll start testing 5.4 for multiple cores to see how many it can handle since 5.3 HT off handled all 8.

I got rid of the shroud on the back wall of the case and mounted one of the radiators there instead of the front panel and that freed up a TON of space inside of the case. In a way I think it looks better, in another way I do not, but overall I think this is better. Temperatures also seem to be a little bit improved, probably due to better air flow. It is louder now because there is less muffling the fan sounds. It's not "loud" by any means, but not as muffled as before. I ordered the Corsair PCIe riser cable because the cheap one that is supposedly compatible with this case does not fit the holes for the standoffs to bolt it down. The PCB is too short, so for now the GPU is "floating" at the bottom and only bolted down in the slot.
Now that the GPU is vertical, I need to take it apart and clean off fingerprints on the back of the clear plexi surfaces. I never knew there were fingerprints because I couldn't see them with the GPU mounted horizontally. They're driving me nuts looking at them.
Connecting my three DisplayPort cables certainly is more convenient with the GPU oriented this way.
Here is my Amazon review of the 5000D Airflow.

In one of those, "maybe supply is catching up," moments, every single one of my local(ish) Microcenters has 5950x's in stock (25+) all 4 of them (2x in MD, 1x in NJ, 1x in PA).

electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
True, the prices for 6900xt's are pretty outlandish. I'm pretty stuck on MSRP from AMD, so when they drop I try....and fail....weekly.
11th gen can run 1:1 or 1:2 now like AMD and their fclk 1:1 and 1:2.
Gear 1 works best, like AMD, with very tight timings especially as the IMC on 11th gen tends to hit 3733 usually, sometimes 3866 and rarely 4000 with stability and unicorns hit 4133. Both my 11700k and first 11900k couldn't reliably go past 3733 gear 1.
Gear 2 is showing the strength of much higher clocked memory kits that can hit 4800+ as eventually you reach a point of equilibrium (or you will) where timings will eventually come into range of gear 1 but you experience ridiculous memory bandwidth gains.
Some games and applications love bandwidth; others love tight timings. WoW likes tight timings. -
Thank you. I had not heard that before. So, that is something different than the old memory 100/133 odd Q-clock ratio options?

I purchased a camera from Best Buy sealed many years ago and the camera was missing. I returned immediately to the store for a new replacement. I still use it to this day a Nikon Coolpix S8200. Ever since then, I usually open the product up in the store after purchase for a quick inspection if it is more than $100 USD. If it is a laptop or desktop, you can even ask them to test it to make sure it "turns on."
When I returned my 11700k a few weeks ago to best Buy, the nice CSR barely even checked it. I could see how something could be swapped or altered before returns. When I returned my 10900k last year to Best Buy, the CSR that day went over it with a fine tooth comb as you would hope to expect. It depends on the return person at the counter.
That was the same 11700k where the box was clearly torn open during its trip via the USPS delivery route as someone wanted to take a looksy...it was open enough to have removed the small CPU box if they wanted to.
Look what happened to @Mr. Fox and his CPU. While it was open box, somehow it made it past QA somewhere in the chain.
As you mentioned previously, and I've been victim of it too, the Amazon Warehouse is beyond hit or miss. With their new returns at Kohls and other locations expanding, I suspect it could only get worse.
But for something of this level, it really does say either the buyer (and why would he draw attention to his shenanigans) or most likely somewhere in the supply chain someone or group removed clusters of product or removed them in very small cyclical batches and swapped out pricier CPUs for cheaper ones. Why go through the process with a 3600? Usually opportunity is reason #1.
In this day and age, I'm just never surprised anymore by much of anything nefarious that happens.Ashtrix, Papusan, Rage Set and 1 other person like this. -
Actually, I purchased a brand new CPU at full retail price, not an open box return. Even if it had been the correct CPU, (rather than a 4th Gen with a 10th Gen IHS glued on top,) it would not have been what I paid for. So, not only did they put an open box return on the shelf to sell to the next customer as a new CPU, they didn't even confirm what was in the box.
I could actually see the latter part happening easier that the former. The people processing returns are probably not the sharpest tool in the shed. I suspect it was beyond their technical skillset to identify that the part in the box was bogus. But, the fact that it got put back on the shelf and sold as a new part raises bigger questions in my mind about their internal procedures and QC process (if they even have one). I halfway expect that from dishonest customers and it doesn't surprise me in the slightest way that there are worthless dirt bags that do things like that. But, I don't expect it to be put back into normal stock and shipped to the next customer that paid for a new part.Last edited: May 18, 2021Papusan and electrosoft like this. -
NVIDIA announces GeForce RTX 30 Lite Hash Rate (LHR) series with cryptomining limiter
Nvidia is trying to appease gamers by making this move while in reality it might not effect much since it's only 1/2 rate if the miners can get bulk of GPUs direct from OEM at a negotiated price the LHR won't do much. Why not a complete Zero Hash Rate ? No idea. People actually thinking this is going to ease the market, I doubt it highly. Since the GPU shortage is huge, even with 1/2 the rate the GPUs will be palatable to the Miners. But if the end user, a casual gamer or an OC or Enthusiasts want to dip their toes, Ngreedia comes and castrates the cards lol.
I think they want to save themselves from that 2nd hand GPU market, when it bit them, but they knew this for sure since ETH and BTC was not simply in 2021 but in 2020 since Corona started, and they pushed for this high compute design of Ampere with high speed Memory design custom made by Micron exclusively for Nvidia, While old AMD's GCN which excelled in mining performance and still does, Radeon VII. Ngreedia knew it all along, that's what I think and their 2020 profits in double digit for the GPUs clearly show how much they were able to mint money bags while real PC DIY market got none. They know it all along it was the situation, add the TSMC supply shortage bs problems (using that high end design to make pathetic iPhone processors which are use and throw social media devices for brainwashing while the real PC HW is sidelined), Samsung 8N was also specifically tailored for Ngreedia on top.
Q4 2020 vs Q4 2019, +56% YoY growth (Check the Quarterly revenue GAAP table) from the Gaming market which is GPU lineup, how is it possible when the PC DIY has very less sales to end user but rather the whole pallet sales of GPU silicon going to OEMs and to Miners ?
Oh I almost forgot, the CMP reused GPU silicon being used to pump mining SKUs onto market specifically now, they have worse efficiency and performance, many idiots who think Nvidia is saving the planet esp the ones who whine on how Crypto is dangerous fear mongering drama while in reality the CMP Turing based cards are gutter trash (not that Turing is bad but those specific SKUs, check the Hash rate table and the wattage) and pricing also bad vs the Ampere chips. No wonder majority of the people are ultra dumb to realize 1 ounce on reality.
What a scum, today they are going to block mining, tmrw it will be something else. AMD on the other hand castrated the uArch itself to CDNA and RDNA so the consumer GPUs don't even hold a candle to the G6X and the HBM2 of Radeon VII. Esp their gaming focused "Infinite Cache" won't benefit mining loads.
Well they still didn't castrate the RTX 3090, probably it's too expensive to begin with maybe ? gotta see how they will handle the 3080Ti.
Also I think many of us already know about the Antminer E9 which rekts Nvidia with their ASIC HW at ultra high hash rate over 3090s forget CMP gpus, cannot wait to see Nvidia get shorted by Bitmain lol.Last edited: May 18, 2021Papusan, Mr. Fox, Rage Set and 1 other person like this. -

Does Port Royal and RTX-focused gaming even support NVLink-SLI? I could be mistaken, but it seems like I remember reading something to the effect that it does not. But, it would definitely bump the graphics scores in other benchmarks.
I'm not particularly impressed by Port Royal anyhow, since it doesn't benefit all that much from GPU overclocking or CPU potency. It seems to be primarily a ray tracing benchmark.
FYI - you may need to crank another couple of hundred more megahertz out of the CPU to maintain your physics performance, as SLI usually causes a small hit on physics performance versus a single GPU. (The CPU has two GPUs it needs to boss around rather than one.) When you start testing, keep an eye on the physics and combined scores and see what they do.Last edited: May 19, 2021 -
I really don't even play that many ray tracing titles. Some of the games I play can benefit from NvLink though. But I will more than likely sell one or even both of these 2080Ti's. It seems in this day and age, I would have to sell both my 2080Ti's at a ridiculously high price of $1,500 each, and add cash just to purchase a single 3090 lol. Gonna pick this 2080Ti up in a couple hours. I bought it from my brother for $1,000 bucks. He never uses it unfortunately..
It is a EVGA 2080Ti XC Ultra. That big (3) slot model. Luckily I have a standard I/O to install once I put the waterblock on there.electrosoft and Papusan like this. -
Man I can’t believe Optimus water cooling.
I ordered my waterblock Tuesday evening at 7PM. I paid $40 extra dollars for overnight shipping. So I was expecting the item to be mailed early Wednesday morning, and I would have it by today (Thursday afternoon/evening)
Today is Thursday, and they just emailed me and said they’re not mailing my item until tomorrow (Friday) and it will arrive (Saturday). What a gimmick...
I just don’t understand why this company would operate like this. Why would someone pay extra for overnight shipping, only for the company to wait (3 days) before even mailing the item?
My PC is down, and I use this shipping method all the time with other companies. First time buying from Optimus Water Cooling. -
No company is perfect. I wouldn't be thrilled about that myself, but it sounds like they are still sending it overnight with a delay in processing the order. They have been really great to deal with from my perspective. I have experienced a delay in processing my order with Performance-PCs, NewEgg, Titan Rig, ModMyMods, FrozenCPU, B&H, and PrimoChill, so I would not be surprised to see it with OptimusPC. I have seen examples where each of them has taken more than a full business day to even acknowledge the new order, and an extra day beyond that until they ship it. It bugs the crap out of me every time.
You'll love the water block if it works as well for you as mine has for me. Just be aware that with the bare die setup, sometimes you have to fart around with the fit of the block to get it sitting correctly. This is true regardless of what water block you are using on a bare die setup. Temps will be crazy high if anything is out of alignment because the top surface of the die frame is just barely lower than the top of the die. You have to be very deliberate in tightening all four of the nuts equally or the water block will rest against the die frame and not make full contact with the CPU die. That can be frustrating to fuss with, but once you get it sitting perfectly flat with the block on the die, it will be crazy good. Sometimes simply loosening all four nuts and deliberately tightening them equally is enough. Other times I have needed to fuss a little more until I held my mouth in the right position, with my head tilted slightly in the other direction.Last edited: May 20, 2021Vistar Shook, tps3443 and Papusan like this. -

Hey, have you ever heard of the Intel i9 9990XE?
It is a very rare Intel CPU, but by default they run have a 255TDP and run 5.0-5.1Ghz on all (14) cores (Stock). They were binned so well apparently intel couldn’t guarantee for their own warranty, due to another (Simply not existing)
The stock 9990XE Intel IHS was in a Gold TIN color.
These chips literally run 5.1Ghz full force, and all core right out of the box. Voltages were around 1.380V or a little less at 5.0-5.1Ghz between all cores.
I had no idea they even existed. I came across one on ebay, and thought whoa!
Pretty cool. Just wondering if you knew about them. Crazy that these CPU’s literally pull north of 600+ watts with no bios adjustments or OC.Vistar Shook and Mr. Fox like this.
