Any notion that AMD is less corrupt or might rise to a higher decency plane than Micro$lop, Intel or NVIDIA is simply childish foolishness. Nvidia search a new harbour after the Mining boom seems to slow down. Why bother with gamers? They can just try retail stores while the Internet Cafes can make preorders. Probably a good way to try keep the prices well above MSRP.
A significant increase in the supply of the second revision of GeForce RTX 3060 is now expected by the end of this month. NVIDIA’s focus is reportedly on the Internet Cafes specifically, which have seen a decline of customers due to the pandemic. Internet Cafes have always been very popular in China. In fact, many domestic board partners even have dedicated series for Cafes, which are often sold in bulk and without fancy packaging.
According to the post from Board Channels forums, Internet Cafe owners can now make preorders for RTX 3060 graphics cards, which would be ready to ship around July 10th. Board partners can now accept deposits on new orders, which is a sign that the supply is clearly coming.

Except Internet cafes are really not interested in 3060's for those machines. Im fairly certain the 1050Ti and non Ti cards were the targets last go around and that was because A. Esports games run on a potato and MMORPG's are mostly the same, save for a few outliers. Why target a card that is 100w more? If they are a small shop with just 20-30 machines that means they are looking at 2000w-3000w to essentially keep doing what they did the day before.
Im not omniscient, but with my current understanding of things to say the least I am a bit puzzled by this...hfm, Rage Set, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
I know nothing on the subject of internet cafes and don't really care to know more, but what you are saying is totally logical. It would be foolish to buy more expensive GPUs that consumed more electricity beyond what is needed to fulfill the business purpose for which they are purchased. That would eat into profits more than necessary and would not be a smart business decision.

NVIDIA made a custom version of the GTX 1060 with 5 GB of VRAM for Internet cafes in China. Linus reviewed one a few years back.

Push 3060 cards on the Internet cafes will help Nvidia and it's AIB partners to keep up the price point for all others. What you think will happen if the retail shops is floded with (un-sold) 3060 cards? The prices will stay high for all cards and in all stores if the demand is there and they lack cards due many is sold to mentioned Cafe's.
A good deal can help push prices higher for all cards. None is interested selling at MSRP or slightly above.Last edited: Jun 23, 2021 -
Upon giving a cursory look, it seems that internet cafes turned to mining to stay out of the red while the pandemic was in full swing and now these cafe's have a way to make money even while business is slow. If I had to guess, Nvidia likely wants to get them all on the LHR cards to prevent them from mining (which only discourages, not prevents) by offering a better card. Like all things, comes down to price.
Yeah I recall that vaguely, but that wasnt the card I remember seeing in Korea. It was a Ti or no Ti 1050 that was odd in its own right. Might be this here

3060 is a nice card and plainly speaking it sounds like people are foaming at the mouth to get something, anything lol. My friend enjoys his 3060 and does mine on the side with it when hes out for work after having dedicated his 5700 to mining. -
I stopped mining. It got to the point that BTC wasn't profitable enough to bother with for me. The lower return plus the cost of the electricity wasn't worth the extra GPU wear/tear and heat production in my office space. But, it was good enough for long enough that it covered the cost of the 3090 KPE, so it was nice while it lasted, LOL.

Honestly I think its pretty cool that people have a method of justifying the expense of something typically regulated to a hobby or recreation. Plus its just additional experience of the whole process from beginning to fiscal in your account. In that exact scenario, makes asking for forgiveness much easier for most I would imagine.
I dont know if I intend to do this forever, if I can pay off my student loans then i'll consider it a win, if not then it was still something that at the very least peaked my interest enough to consider the goal, how I can reach it with minimal investment from me personally while also not impacting the household in any way. A unique problem where I got to exercise my critical thinking for a while.
The next one is getting ready for Chia mining, my understanding of it is limited and also under the same conditions as GPU mining, little to no investment from me personally and see what I can make of it. I have 30-40TB of storage from work and a bunch of random 128-256GB ssd's. I was actually about to sell it all off until a friend brought it to my attention last week lol Another unique problem I guess.
The one thing I wish I didnt have to deal with, is how annoying Dell Precision towers are. They do not like to operate outside of the intended guidelines AT ALL. They were free though so I cant complain too much, ill just vent it all at you guys for your entertainment hahaRobbo99999, Mr. Fox, electrosoft and 4 others like this. -

That is great. Being able to delid soldered Intel and AMD CPUs is really important, especially if you are an overclocking/benching enthusiast. I have never seen an example of where that has not improved thermals and overclocking headroom. The way new CPUs are being manipulated automatically by temperatures (like a GPU) makes it even more important because down-clocking occurs even in the absence of overheating. (That last part really sucks for CPUs and GPUs. I really hate that kind of dynamic behavior crap.)

Thats lunacy, I expect to pay more for less and feel good while I do it. How dare you infringe on my world view and introduce ideas I dont want to hear. There's no reason a CPUs can't come with a cover like this, right? GPUs have something like that instead of an IHS. Maybe they can put something else to cover the ICs?

Intel do it for their BGA chips in laptops. Probably afraid for crushed die’s due higher pressure from all the different cooling blocks. Laptops have barely enough pressure from their wimpy TRIPOD heatsink. Aka almost impossible destroy the chips.

Yeah its a lot of data, its why I wont go out of my way to buy new stuff for it, trying to make do with stuff I have on hand. Though the SSD's should be rated to begin with so if the consumer goes beyond the rating then the warranty wouldnt cover it unless there is some other angle people are going about it? I could certainly see people trying to export that expense to the "evil" corporations though and game the system.
In my instance I try to repurpose stuff that is likely to go to a land fill. I used to think non-profit was a good idea. It just means you blow out what ever left over budget you have left and for a lot of these companies, thats a lot.
Probably the only thing I will buy is power adapters and expansion cards if I need to but at the moment Im still re-arranging everything else for more efficiency. My dual CPU Precision will likely be my Chia miner once I get around to it. -
Hey guys. Anyone have a PSU recommendation larger than 1200 watts?
I have a Seasonic Prime Platinum 1200 watt psu. I honestly thought I would be ok with this unit, as I have seen reviewers pull 1,340 watts from it during an extended period of time.
With my (2) 2080Ti’s running a 532 watt power limit each. I am getting power shutdowns with just a baby OC on the cards (maybe 1980Mhz each and auto voltages). My 7980XE is even de-tuned to 4.8Ghz all core OC.
With just the power sliders maxed to 127% TDP, and no OC at all on my GPU’s besides +725 on the memory, I am able to run timespy extreme stable with power usage up to 1,110 watts. (But this is a tight operating window) and with just a small OC on both GPU’s, I see around 1,210watts in timespy extreme on my wall meter and my system powers off right after that.
I want to overclock both cards much further, and send the maximum voltages of 1.093MV to both cards too, and hopefully run 4.9Ghz to 5.0Ghz on my cpu as well.
^ I never thought this would happen to me. But I am certain my PSU is hitting limitations.
Also, I have no ideas how accurate my power meter may be. It is a no name brand model from Amazon.Last edited: Jun 25, 2021 -
I would imagine you might be hitting amperage wall as opposed to straight wattage limit

Yeah, 1200W probably won't cut it. I was pulling almost that much in Cinebench with the 7980XE and my shunt modded 2080 Ti was pulling almost 1000W in Time Spy. I love my EVGA SuperNova P2 1600W PSU. That would not be enough for two shunt modded 2080 Ti and an overclocked 7980XE. I'd need two PSU in that scenario.
-
When I had my two 2080 Ti KP cards, I was using one 1600w psu alongside a 1200w psu. The 1200w was used exclusively for one card. You could probably get away with another 1200w psu if you're strictly going to be benching. Otherwise, another psu at today's pricing would be a waste.Ashtrix, jc_denton, electrosoft and 3 others like this.
-
I had to upgrade the PSU on my work computer to an 850W. It had a 650W PSU and that was fine until I tried gaming on it recently. More taxing games like Crysis 3, Metro Exodus and BFV were causing it to shut down. I looked at the Kill-A-Watt and sure enough... it was sucking down as much as 800W with the shunt-modded 2080 Ti and the 2KW Galax vBIOS. Even with the stock FTW vBIOS it would, but it took 2 or 3 minutes of GPU load. With the 2kW vBIOS it took about 3 to 5 seconds. It was tripping the internal breaker. I had to unplug it and plug it back in again or nothing would happen pressing the power button.
-
Now I know why my PC has been shutting off while running Realbench 2.56 with an overclock of 4.9-5.0Ghz on my 7980XE. It has been my PSU the entire time (even with just a single 2080Ti)...

I was wondering what's up with PSU prices on eBay. Yeah, I am gonna just run the cards slow for now. I am going to run this permanently though.
-
I was going to purchase a bigger PSU back when I first built this system (And I thought, I will never exceed 1200 watts). This was back when my 7980XE was under a AIO, and a warranty too lol!
I am gonna have to just get one of those 1,600's from EVGA. They are so expensive! OMG. Why are they so expensive? And why are certain evga 1,600's half the price of other evga 1600's? -
One more post lol! Ok, guys Nvlink is awesome! Nearly every game I have (Installed) on my pc works with SLI or Nvlink.
SLI receives such a bad name because it doesn’t “Just work” it is not a “set it and forget it” type of configuration.
For example, I just played a newly launched acquired PC game called SnowRunner. SLI didn’t work at all, and the game maxed out seems to get around 80-110FPS with a single 2080Ti. Well, the games is fun because it’s a slow paced and very causal off road simulation style game. Anyways, I adjusted 1 setting in the driver and boom! SLI is working, I am getting literally 85% gpu usage on each card. Now my frame rate is 160 FPS and only limited by my refresh rate.
I am actually quite impressed with SLI in 2021. It takes some configuration for each game usually. But once you have your nvidia control panel profiles setup for each title you have installed, you are all set.
SLI doesn’t work for Cyberpunk 2077, but I have already wore that game out on a single 2080Ti as it is.
I can see why people hate SLI. But, the. again computers need tweaking regardless! I mean, how well optimized is that OS on a pre-built lol? How’s the performance of a 320 watt limited power starved 3080Ti? lol. Just about anything could use tweaking for optimal performance. SLI just happens to require it for almost every game in order to function.
Anyways, Just figured I’d share this. SLI is pretty fun. I am interested to try even more titles. After seeing 140-150 FPS in RDR2 while being stupidly maxed out with butter smooth performance, I am impressed! -
Snowrunner is a top-tier game, beat it with a friend when it launched and it was extremely fun due to its slow paced nature, glad you enjoy it

I have the Define 7 XL. It's a great case. I like it a lot better than my spare Corsair 760T. The only drawback is the front door, which is responsible for so much of the sound dampening, blocks a lot of airflow. This picks up massively if you open or remove the front door, but then it is no longer a silent case. It looks like a good old fashioned rugged no RGB no frills case, boxy and spacy and I like that.
The Meshify 2 XL is basically the same case (besides a few minor changes) with the huge exception of the front panel is now a pure airflow panel, with a less restrictive filter (compared to the open door setup of the Define 7 XL).Mr. Fox, jc_denton, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -

On any Maximus 12 or 13 series board, use VCORE for your voltage measurements (as long as Bios is set to "Die sense"). This is accurate measurements (Does not show transient peak to peak except on M13 Extreme and Apex afaik under the HWinfo64 EC area under "V-latch"; M12 doesn't have V-latch but does have the accurate vcore reporting).
VID is just what the CPU is trying to request. -
Agreed. Unfortunately there are some games that loose performance from SLI, which is really stupid. There are also some games that just won't work with it at all no matter what you do.
Fortunately it seems most AAA titles can be forced to work with SLI and will scale well.
Whether SLI is worth it or not depends on the types of games you play. For people like me to mostly play AAA titles and want 120-144 fps in every game, it's definitely worth it.
Also how much of an improvement is Nvlink over SLI? Is the bandwidth of the bridge a lot better? What about latency between the GPUs? -

I watched this earlier. I wasn't really sure what to take from it in regards to the video title. Super cool running reference design with odd RGB words and bright fans? The push-pull was interesting though. -
I wondered the same and thought perhaps it was clickbait, but I think it might be the fact that Galax may as well not even exist as a brand in North America, as it seems they do not offer products for sale in the US or Canada. The slogan in RGB on the edge of the GPU is kind of cheesy, but Galax GPUs are always rather tacky-looking in terms of aesthetics. Their GPUs are some of the ugliest I have seen. This one is very mildly tacky in comparison to what they normally produce.

I've used the Creality Ender 3/3 Pro and Ender 5 printer for a few years. Essentially what I learned on with free Cura slicer software. They are much less than $1,000. They are very much beginner printers but because the Arduino firmware is completely open source you can essentially turn it into whatever you want, with whatever features you can manage to code in. The catch is most of it requires your knowledge/ability to assemble and program in. The very newest model (Ender 7?) probably has auto bed leveling, filament runout sensor, and many other trick features the previous models never came with. That said, all the features and options in the world won't guarantee a good print. I learned after a few years printing the time involved is the biggest sacrifice for me. That said, it can be very fun and rewarding too!
-
During my research, I came across the Ender series of printers. I do want something that has auto leveling. As for programming, I won't have any trouble with that. I want to start with an above-average printer, doesn't really need to be beginner friendly either. My goal is to have a 3D printer and acrylic cutter.
Thank you very much for your information and advice!
@Mr. Fox The 7980XE got as low as $400. All sold out, as I was going to grab one too. Damn Linus.

It is extremely tempting, but my logical side won the argument. I even loaded a 7980XE in my shopping cart on eBay, but when I looked for an X299 Dark mobo to use with it, that quickly turned into a $700+ exercise in vanity. I'd end up north of $1000 by the time I factored in the need for another 1600W PSU, then I'd need to sell my work desktop to help offset the cost and have a spot available in my office to use it. But, dang. Crazy good price.electrosoft, jc_denton, Rage Set and 1 other person like this.

Yes, that is really wonderful news for anyone planning a Ryzen build, or anyone that wants something better than what they have. I literally cringe at the idea of buying any enthusiast motherboard, GPU, or PSU that is not made by EVGA. I hope the AMD Dark motherboards are as superior as their Intel Dark motherboards.
Only time will tell. I'm open to the possibility now. I was not before. With the influence of Vince and Luumi, this has the potential to actually turn out nice for AMD. But, I want to see the results first. It is always best to start off as a Doubting Thomas before becoming a fanboy. Talk is cheap. I am not from Missouri, but I live in a perpetual "show me" state. And, the possibility is no less exciting at a time when there is no reason to be excited about anything in the tech realm.
Let's hope they don't do something über-stupid, like dropping Legacy/CSM support. That will eliminate it as an option for me if they do.
Last edited: Jun 29, 2021 -
Yep, No Reason for them to drop the support unless they have some other technical reason.
So far from what I read on win-raid the X570 motherboards can do Windows 7. For ASUS X570 boards the Simplix xHCI is a problem and has to be done with no USB flag. For the rest of the package the drivers should do the trick.
And Yep, Luumi needs to give a take on this too...since Ryzen processors from what I always read are supposed to boost on their own without much intervention from the user with all that XFR, PBO2 and etc.
There's one concern, which is AMD Ryzen CPUs got a scheduler update that allows them to improve the Core polling speed and the UEFI aspect surrounding it, AMD introduced this with Zen 2 Ryzen 3000 Matisse based processors that has this CPPC2 system. Also this has BIOS settings for the CPPC itself and the Core setting for CPPC, not sure if any of this needs the CSM disabled or not or can run with UEFI+CSM. Unfortunately apart from you @Mr. Fox nobody on this forum runs Windows 7 with latest HW to give more insight on these very important elements.
The FPS Review page on this, "Here is what AMD has to say about CPPC2: “CPPC2, or Collaborative Power and Performance Control, is a newer method of clock speed selection in the UEFI standard that deprecates the classic pState model in favor of CPU firmware-controlled clockspeeds."
Deck from Anandtech below (Check CPU clock rampup and comparison vs Intel Speedstep pState)
Also there were some issues with HWInfo and other monitoring tools with the AMD Ryzen processors Core VID reporting vs the Ryzen Master Utility (I do not think this is going to work on Windows 7), so this was taken by AMD and they issued this PDF update and pushed this update as you can see this alters the Windows Power Plans exclusive to 1903+ Windows 10 versions to Ryzen Power Plan under Windows 10.
Since Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 share same design structure (underneath uArch changes but the topology of CCDs remain same as Zen 2 / Ryzen 3000) this CPPC in BIOS and the OS Windows 10 1903 May 2019 Release *might* be needed. Note there's also the Ryzen Power Plan by TPU 1usmus explaining this. Finally upon searching more some people reported this high voltage and all at HWInfo forum too..(check 2021 posts)
Everything is from my research, I do not have any experience with AMD Ryzen processors. And AMD doesn't have a damn datasheet still.
This makes Ryzen slower on LTSC Win10 1809 vs Regular SAC garbage Windows 10, which needs constant updates. AND no potential update for Windows 7 concerning the same no idea about Linux behavior as well, along with this and the USB issues I decided to go Intel Z590 since it doesn't have any of these "Features" / "Behavior" since Intel is full monolithic, RKL is however last of that kind.
