See blelow. About same price as a top quality 1440P screen.
Yep, I know that's a very good screen. My oldest son (the gamer) have it but the price is whooping $945.26 United States Dollar here home. I have a hope getting a screen nearer $650.
I will still get G-Stink. Re-sale without it is difficult. Such features + bling bling will easly be sold on the used market
If you don't have what the gamer kids want you risk burn in with it or you have to sell it with a huge loss.

@Johnksss, my G.skill 5600mhz kit comes in tomorrow, I am hopeful I can hit reasonable speeds with them, but am kind of bummed yours didn't work very well. Hopeful to hit around the 100GB/s speed, the last time that I had reasonable ram speeds was with my X299 stuff.
-
Yeah that’s another good one for sure. One thing about high end monitors is, they last years and years.
My 2020’ Asus PG278QR is technology from 2014, when Asus originally launched it as the PG278Q.
It took 7+ years and the RTX3090 to even use it lol. 2560x1440P 165FPS is much harder to run than 4K 60fps.Mr. Fox likes this. -
I returned my G.skill 5600 back to Newegg. Mine wouldn't go over 5600. I know my 12900k isn't the greatest but being stuck at 5600 wasn't ideal. Mine were samsung die.Mr. Fox, electrosoft and Johnksss like this.

Hah bummer, not too confidence inspiring there either. I ordered these from newegg as well. What is the ideal chip on DDR5? -
Right now SK Hynix DDR5 is the best, that could change with a BIOS update, but I'm not holding my breathe for the current Samsung getting any better until they release a new revision or higher binned chips.
Unfortunately it looks like the "J" SKU G.Skill Trident Z5s are also just more Samsung and possibly a worse bin than my "E" SKU stuff on hand. So I'll be returning them back to Newegg unopened. It is possible they will overclock higher or are a different bin that is more voltage tolerant since they're 1.35v vs the 1.3v on the E SKU. But my guess is just a worse bin.jc_denton, Ashtrix, Rage Set and 1 other person like this. -

Appreciate the info, I do see some samsung stuff at 7000mhz, but maybe they are just really highly binned?
Mine are the "U" SKU from G.Skill, not sure what that gets me. XMP is 36-36-36-76 @ 1.2v -
Nothing is ideal as it is now. Buy the fastest sticks you can afford if you hope for best results or try get sticks with SK.hynix chips. I think all the major ram manufacturers binning as hard they can nowaday for 7000Mhz sticks they can sell for Premium. On top we have the parts shortage. Avoid sticks with Micron.

The basic changes to the new DDR5 memory standard have already been discussed around the launch of the Intel Alder Lake CPUs, even if sometimes not completely correct. So today we’re going to revisit the topic and delve deeper into the matter

Yeah I wasn't planning on going with DDR5 just yet, but my Gigasuck board was making me mad and wouldn't overclock my B-Die ram worth a darn (my AMD setup was way better in regards to overclocking memory for whatever reason). -
You might be asking for a lot.....but hopeful you get a good kit!
Got them up to 6000, but man them suckers were working a nerve at first!
J seems to start at CL36@6K while U is starting at CL40@6K.
What I do like is it boots 6000Mhz with having to do anything. 5600Mhz was working a serious nerve
IMC=1.243
VDD=1.3
VDDQ=1.3
IVR=1.3
But if Micro gets faster better ram, then I will switch at that point.
What kinds of numbers did you guys get with 5600 and 6000 ram?jc_denton, Talon and electrosoft like this. -
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
You may have it wrong, for the 6000 kits here are the specs:
U:
36-36-36-76 @1.3v
J:
36-36-36-96 @ 1.35v
I was hopeful that my U kit would be similar to the 6000mhz stuff since it has the same timings @ 5600 but 0.1v less.
*on edit* it looks like they have CL40 stuff in the U and the J series, but the U uses 0.05v less to get there and has better overall timings.Last edited: Jan 24, 2022 at 5:47 PM -
Maybe I should clarify. My ram.
Is that not how we classify the ram. By the highlighted letter in the picture? I'm still new to this new fangled ram.
This is what I get just setting XMP with stock cpu and hit the go button after boot.

Yeah that is the "U" series, was your 5600 kit the same? I am not sure what G.Skill is calling U and J, but from their specs it looks like U is better.Rage Set likes this. -
My "E" kit of 6000 CL36 does 6000 CL32 no problem at all on my Hero board. I did put a small 60mm fan right over the ram dimms though because the G.Skill heatspeader is an absolute joke and that keeps my temps at max of about 45c. The Dominator Plats heatspeader was excellent and temps stayed low even when pushing voltage, but those were crap 5200Mhz CL38 Microns and maxed out at 5400.
Have you tried lowering you VCCSA? At stock it's far too high, and most guys lower it to around 1.05 or 1.1v for better stability. I'm haven't been home to be able to use my desktop for almost a month now due to training, but thankfully finishing up this week and can get back to my desktop. I've been slumming it in the hotel with my laptop and using a TV as my second monitor. TBH it hasn't been bad because I find I game a lot less these days, seems to come and go in waves I guess. I mostly keep up with this stuff as a hobby more than anything else. -
The "U" series come also in 3636 and 4040 kit. A nice mess.jc_denton, Johnksss, Rage Set and 1 other person like this.

Provided I get some time to put the new motherboard in and drain/fill the loop I should have some testing done on this kit. Hopefully before this forum disappears

One more... And the GA2 and the GX2 moniker in the kits nr is same chips. GA2 designates the RAM is from our authorized Amazon seller (confirmed by G.Skill). Yep, a lot beauty in this ugly mess.Rage Set likes this.

I haven't really done anything other than boot it at what ever it's set at. Tried 6200 and 6400 and got it to boot. 36CL got that too boot as well. I haven't really spent much time working out the memory. Only enough to run some quick benchmarks.
I haven't did much gaming either. And less over clocking at that....
Did you post anything with it running at cl32? -
Am looking for some squishy thermal pads for the MOSFET's of my 1070, any of you know brands that produce thick squishy pads? I've heard good stuff about Arctic, but they only offer up to a 1.5mm pad sadly.

Ditto. When I won the Newegg lottery for the other G.Skill sticks I opted not to get them as they really weren't the ones I wanted. -

I would be stupid if I let the 6400 kit stay in the Store for others
420 cooling ain’t enough for that
But nice going back to desktop and same time also enjoy my laptops. Can’t see many better choices for portable than my Clevo P870

The kit that @Papusan is getting was the same kit that Der8auer overclocked to 7000+. I think the kit discussed in that article is the best die from Samsung. At least those will be guaranteed 7000 with a good chipMr. Fox, Ashtrix, Johnksss and 1 other person like this.

G.SKILL Showcases DDR5-7000 CL40 Extreme Speed Memory 2021-11-02
With Samsung Dram
@Talon say G.Skill run hot and can create stability problems due not the best heatspreader. Do you se the same? Can't see 7000 sticks will run so much colder if they don't make a changes on the cooler. And expect 8000 sticks when Raptor lake pop up.
I paid $111 USD premium for 6400 vs. 6000 sticks. 7000 sticks won't come for cheap.
And the ram sticks I ordered is already more expensive than the Cpu. This goes the wrong way, LOOLLast edited: Jan 25, 2022 at 1:36 PMAshtrix, jc_denton, electrosoft and 3 others like this. -

I wonder why they are aiming all in for Samsung ICs if SK. Hynix have shown to be the better option. Maybe they know more than what we know during testing (overall stability). Or that the Samsung brand clinging better in alls ears (premium) and help them charge more vs the competitors.
-
Very good question indeed.

Maybe it is supply related? My 3090’s GDDR6X is Micron which is hilarious, I definitely don’t think Samsung is the fastest in DDR5.Papusan likes this. -
Some say you'll need an updated bios to utilize Samsung memory potential. I, don't know but Samsung should not be happy beeing placed as option two.
Oh, well. We will see when more reviews is out for the faster kits. Here's Teamgroups 6400 kit with SK. Hynix chips (40-40-40-84 at 1.35V).
Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-6400 C40 memory review pcgamer.com
At default XMP 3.0 settings, it's a tough battle between the raw bandwidth of the Team kit vs. the slower, but lower latency G.Skill kit. We feel the G.Skill kit wins by a nose unless you exclusively use apps that respond to raw megahertz. In the end, which one you prefer may come down to what you can find in stock or which kit looks better in your opinion.
The sticks doesn't exactly look very pretty. More like ugly design.
-
Nice!! Hoping those are a new Samsung revision and you can get a good OC out of them. I would definitely look into having a fan to cool them or even go as far as waterblocking them.

@tps3443 I think I got burned on the chiller. It wouldn't turn on, so I looked up the manual for the unit and discovered it has a fuse. When I went to take out the fuse, the fuse housing was broken in many pieces. Contacting the seller and eBay about this. I was hoping I would have lucked out and got a good chiller for a good price. Every single time I go cheap, something happens.

That said, Intel’s 10-core 12600K matches the 12900K’s performance for the majority of consumer use cases at a 50% price discount.
Intels 12600K up Series CPU's bests AMD's Zen 3 including 5900X.. -
I don't want to sound rude or disrespectful in any way, but Userbenchmark is one of the most garbage quote on quote, "benchmarks/performance references" ever created. It is extremely bias towards single-threaded performance and has changed the "rules" many times in order to block AMD CPU's from being considered "good" in comparison to intel CPU's. The whole eFPS thing is also extremely chaotic and makes no sense.
Not angry or trying to direct anger towards you at all, but Userbenchmark pisses me off as it has and will continue to give unreliable and bias performance numbers to many people including myself in the past.Last edited: Jan 25, 2022 at 8:58 PMAshtrix, Clamibot, Rage Set and 1 other person like this. -
