Before I've decided on the Rampage Extreme, I was looking at the X299 Dark. This was way before GamersNexus and others made their reviews. Unfortunately, EVGA loves to delay their OC'ing products like their Dark boards (case in point, the Z390 Dark still isn't available for purchase for all). While I've been an avid supporter of Asus and their higher end products, lately I seen nothing but greed by them. Take for example, their Asus 2080 TI. It is one of the best 'mainstream' 2080 TI's on the market but they've priced it much higher than EVGA and others. Yet EVGA has a better warranty and is cheaper.
The X299 Dark is an OC'er board, plain and simple. Built to take anything an OC'er throws at it. While the BIOS doesn't have everything that Asus's offers, it is getting better. I'm probably going to pick it up now that I know they won't be releasing another one for this generation. -
They are affordable on the Official EVGA eBay store.

Funny how EVGA has GPUs and Hydro Copper blocks available on their eBay store, but not on their own web page.
Another example of them holding back on the release of their better for overclocking hardware is the 2080 Ti FTW3 is nowhere to be found, and they are only showing teasers of a 2080 Ti K|NGP|N, so who knows if or when that will be available.

I really wanted that XC2, but I got my card before they released it! The thermal sensors on the vRAM while not necessary would have been nice. All in all just like the 10 series, the silicon lottery gods, power limit and temps are all that matter (again). And with that said, my XC Ultra was beating out FTW3 cards on the EVGA forums
. Very excited for you, I know you'll be breaking records very soon. You can flash the FTW3, or even the crazy Galax 380w vBIOS as well. Especially easy since you're going full block and fan speeds/profiles won't matter.

Thanks. I'm excited about trying something new in spite of the price being enough to choke a mule.
Does anyone have the FTW3 and Galax 380W vBIOSes posted for download? If you've got a link where they are being shared that would be awesome.
GPU should be delivered Wednesday and the Hydro Copper block on Friday, so I can do some nice before and after testing with the stock vBIOS. I may hold off on overclocking until I can put it on water. And, I'll definitely go for extending the warranty when I register on the EVGA web site like I did the X299 Dark.Johnksss, electrosoft, Robbo99999 and 2 others like this. -
The FTW3 is released in small batches, exclusively on their website's store and normally sells out in minutes (especially since they have raised the limit of one per household to two). Talon is probably right that difference between the FTW3 and the XC2 is not much when it comes to watercooling. I'm going to grab the X299 Dark from their website soon.

A HUGE Thank you to my dear Brother @Mr. Fox for all his help in putting together my new Hailea HC 500A water chiller. He wrote me instructions and drew diagrams and answered all my questions. Those are some great scores. Looks like your chiller is doing exactly what we wanted it to do. When you get my 1080 Ti and add it to your loop, I think you are going to beat every single GPU benchmark I have run with that CPU backing it up.electrosoft, Johnksss, Vasudev and 1 other person like this.

Seems (so far) like my vBIOS is better than the Galax 2080 Ti. I might have tested the wrong one. Here's a fairly decent overclock. @Talon, my vBIOS is attached if you want to try it. Power limit goes to 130%. The stock vBIOS is what I used for this run.
7th place on Fire Strike on my first attempt at an overclock. I know it can and will go higher. Need to figure out how to power/shunt mod this to uncork the power limit and unlock the voltage like I did my 1080 Ti.

You just blew the doors off my best overclock on my stock Air cooler and buried all FTW3 results I've seen online. Like I said, silicon lottery and temps are pretty much all that matter with this gen again. Nice result! Since we both have a a similar PCB minus the extra temp sensors I'll have to give that vBIOS a run. What is the end result for your memory overclock? Is 7600Mhz the highest stable?Johnksss, KY_BULLET, Vasudev and 1 other person like this. -
I have no idea. I just set 7600 and it worked. I'm anticipating it will do 8000. It never even had a hiccup at 7600. I'll play more this weekend. Really need a better vBIOS like the 1080 Ti Strix XOC to unlock the voltage and a hard mod to remove the power limit. My 1080 Ti was like a totally different GPU after the mod and the vBIOS change... way faster and much higher OC.Vasudev likes this.

And, it does... 16GHz memory (2GHz overclock). Core overclock is severely limited due to inadequate ability to overvolt with this vBIOS.

Excellent. EVGA Precision XOC will let you exceed the +1000mhz limit imposed with MSI Afterburner. I guess they figured nobody would be adding greater than 1000mhz to their memory overclocks.
The best overclock I was able to ever get was with my EVGA 2080 vanilla and it did +1250mhz which is absolutely insane. My 2080 Tis haven’t been as lucky. Memory overclocks on these GPUs adds impressive points to the benchmark score.
Edit: just saw your ranking. Damn dude. Only thing holding you back from #1 seems to be CPU. -

AMD? I haven't owned an AMD motherboard since Athlon days. I was the seller in that screen shot, not the buyer.
That was the new replacement for the Rampage VI that caught on fire. I purchased an EVGA X299 Dark as a replacement for it since ASUS was dilly-dallying around and I wasn't sure they were going to even cover it under warranty. I got it yesterday (finally) and put it on eBay late last night. Sold and shipped by noon today. It was a tough decision whether to keep it and sell the EVGA motherboard. Both are awesome products and both represent the best the industry has to offer. The Rampage VI Apex has better firmware and more features. EVGA has better warranty and customer service. Plus, I purchased enhanced/extended warranty from EVGA. I chose to keep the X299 Dark so I don't have to put up with any more run-around nonsense from ASUS, but I actually prefer the ASUS motherboards. If anything happens to my X299 Dark, I will have a replacement from EVGA within 48 hours, before I even ship them the part that failed. Same with my new 2080 Ti.
EVGA is much like Dell/Alienware NBD warranty, but their products don't suck like Dell/Alienware.electrosoft, Vasudev, Rage Set and 2 others like this. -

If that's the case, then EVGA could well be my next GPU purchase (not soon), as long as they have the same great warranty cover here in the UK, something I'll look into when the time comes. -
EVGA's warranty for the majority of their products are global and are transferable. After the debacle that was their 970's (if my memory serves me right), they have changed their company policies and warranties for the better. As @Mr. Fox has stated, if you want the best feature set and normally 'quality' (can be debated now...their Z390 boards below the Extreme have caused a lot of anger from their fans), Asus is your choice. EVGA offers the best warranty AND customer service available. At least their higher end components have reached parity with Asus (but if Talon's tales are any indication, they still do have their problems).Johnksss, Mr. Fox, Vasudev and 1 other person like this.

Naming schemes are confusing.
Its good, EVGA offers global warranty unlike Asus or MSI BS about buying products from your own country for better warranty or aftersales support.
Can you check if EVGA uses Aptio or AMI BIOS? If so, I'm getting everything from EVGA from now onwards. I simply require better aftersales support rather than hearing BS about stupid tech. limits or I'm using it wrong or other blame games.
Also does your Kingpin edition 2080Ti support sub-zero cooling at VBIOS level?Mr. Fox likes this. -
I think it is Aptio/AMI, and so is ASUS, but both have their own custom UI. I will look to see if it says anywhere in the BIOS. Nobody (except maybe Vince) has a K|INGP|N 2080 Ti yet.
OK, my video is finally done. Man that was a lot of work. I was so upset about the poor video quality I almost didn't publish it.

It's good to see you bro, looking good! Keep pushing those components hard. I'm seriously thinking about adding a water chiller but I'm going to have invest in a lot more if I do. I may have to push the sale of these 1080 TI's. I want you on the Time Spy Extreme CPU list with that setup...may be I'll lend you the 7980XE.

That would be sweet. I'd like that, but then I might not like my 7960X any more, LOL.
Yeah, the water chiller is the best investment ever (if there actually is such a thing in computers - seems like an oxymoron) and I love it. Had Brother @Johnksss not brought his to my house for the benching party earlier this year, I would not know how much I have been missing. -

No, we just got together to have some fun. That was the first time we had ever met face-to-face. Always had only phone, email, text, etc. before that. Hopefully, we can do it again pretty soon. -
I remember when the top overclockers of the world would not give people like us the time of day! Boy has that changed once one starts racking up the points to prove one is serious.

I'm sure glad you were never like that. Being an elitist is fine when you treat people with kindness and respect. The only thing that separates the skills of one from the other is knowledge and experience. It is like they are guarding their status or something. I guess I sort of get that, but if I can't bring people along with me for the ride, I don't think the journey is nearly as much fun or rewarding. The friendships are way more important to guys like us. From my perspective you were (and you still are) one of the top overclockers of the world. I think the mess Brother @Talon experienced with Turing GPUs kicking the bucket wasn't unique to EVGA. But, it is still hard to believe he had several that failed. That was one of the worst cases of rotten luck I have seen in a while. I think he finally got a good one though. And, I think EVGA treated him like a valued customer rather than an inconvenience.

I rarely comment on videos, but that was a GREAT video and comparison Mr. Fox. Just excellent from start to finish. Your setup is impressive! (and loud
)
My takeaway is the 1080ti is still a beast and the next upgrade really is the 2080ti and the 2080 (outside of RT) is a wash at best.
Also, for air cooling, EVGA has done a fantastic job.
Excellent work!
