I have got screenshots of gears of war, bioshock, juiced 2. played on a dell inspiron 1520 with 256mb nvidia 8600m gt, intel core 2 duo 2ghz prossesor amd 2 gb ram.
I played it with all settings on high but shadows was medium and d10x turned off. the resalution is 800X600. i usally get between 25-50 fps.
I play bioshock on all high settings but with d10x off. i play with the 1280x800 resalution. I get between 35 to 15 fps.
i play juiced 2 on the highest settings with 1024x720 resalution and get 20 to 30 fps.

smith2k7123, you should be able to play GoW with everything on high (on DX9) on 1280x800 smoothly.
-
I get around 143 fps so you get less than a 5% speed improvement by using them , and you got a faster processer which makes probably up for it! -

I got CALL OF DUTY 4 - Anybody want SCREENSHOTS?
-
-
Ya Id love some - im looking around for a possible laptop with this card and that is one game I'd love to see running on the 8600.
-
Nice I've been looking for this thread for sometime now.
-
I'll post screens tomorrow
-
-
Okay, here it comes. Call of Duty 4 Running on XP Pro, two different resolutions: 1280x800 and 1600x1050 (max on 15.4'') - Quality on both is Medium, detail is high. (high quality wasn't an option)
So, first, 1280x800:

Can you post those with fraps on? Please???? I'm going to get a Vostro and I want to see how that runs in terms of fps.
-
Top right corner... I just played it again for a good hour for the first time and it runs great, and, again, this game is amazing
PS: The screenshots are from just one level/map -
The level, "War Pig" am I correct?
-
Not sure, but it's in Act I, the beginning
-
Yeah, I'm sure its "War pig", just played it last night

It's the original game. All screenshots but the first one are 1280x800 & medium settings. Windows XP pro. Don't remember the version of the drivers
-
Just curious how you get 30+ alot -
Hmm... that's weird... I'm pretty sure everything was on medium. When I tried lowering the shadows, It was like 37-40 I believe. Try that (but I don't know why you're getting 24-25 on medium)
-
Some more CoD4, system in sig, os is windows vista x64 ultimate, game settings on maximum, no AA no AF, 1280 x 720
-
"8600M GT 512MB" - is it the same card??
-
BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
I'm not sure about this perhaps someone can clarify this...
I know there is a 8600m GT 512 MB DDR2,
and a 8600m GT 512 MB DDR3, it displays 512 because of 256 TurboCache... -
It depends, 8600M GT 512 MB dedicated is most likely a DDR 2
where as 8600M GT 256 MB can be either ddr2 like in dell inspiron, my setup, or it can be the faster DDR3 like in asus g1, macbook, dell xps -
Lately lots of Vostro users claim they have 512MB DDR2 8600 cards, one user even posted GPU-Z screenshots as proof. I'm surprised at this since the Vostro I purchased did not offer the 512 option.
-
All 512mb 8600's use DDR2 memory atm.
Anyways, anyone have UT3 screens? -
Screenshots of CoD4 on my XPS M1530 (specs in sig):
No overclocking or anything, just standard settings out of the box.
Here are the settings I had the game on. Great performance using these with the 169.28 drivers. I'm not really sure if I have my settings set as well as I should, nor do I know how to check the fps. If someone wants to tell me how, I'll gladly check it out. If someone sees something I should change, lemme know please.
And here's a few shots from random levels.
I'll get some of BioShock and Crysis as soon as I can. -
@ PDA
you can bump your settings much higher than, I have a DDR 2 8600M GT (slower than yours) and I run at everything maximum at 1280 x 720 on Vista x64 with fps in the 30-50's, check few posts above yours for pics.
you should enable dual video cards option (helps with stuttering when strafing), specular map, glow, shadows and depth of field and your game will look much better and still run great. -
cod4 is one fine looking game.
-
Hey guys got some Crysis screens.
I've been looking for this very thread for sometime and I was only able to come across it a few days ago so I thought I'd re-post them here as this is like the official thread for 8600M GT screenshots.
This is Crysis on my Inspiron 1520.
These aren't using the latest 169.28 drivers so better peformance may be achieved with them. Thanks to 'blackbird' for pointing this out to me, I'll be trying them out a bit later on.
With these settings I mostly got 18-20fps and sometimes 1 or 2 fps higher or lower, is playable.
-
I've posted COD screens with fraps already. Look at my screens a couple of pages back to see the max settings you can play at
EDIT: Crysis (and Hitman) I posted too -
-
-
Ok well I just tried the 169.28 drivers with Crysis and I can say there is a definite performance increase.
I am getting mostly around 20-22fps a lot more now, as before it was 18-20fps. Though when driving the jeep around loads of trees and foliage the frames still drop to around 16-18fps which isn't that good.
During normal gameplay and combat the fps is good though, getting good 20-24fps with those settings I've used.
I tried everything on medium at 1280x800 and I was getting around 20fps that was until I put the shaders on low which I got better peformance and the game also looked more like those screenshots.

Yea.. I don't really care to be honest, as long as it "looks good"... I'll confirm whether it was on low or not later today or tomorrow
-
I put shadows on low, and get around 30 fps now, but ill try shaders on low, heh.
-
I read somewhere that loweing object quality to low helps a lot. Can someone try that?( And maybe post some pics in the meantime)
-
I'll post some in a bit to show how it looks.
Ok here are some images of Crysis with object quality set to low.
See the textures in the first image and then how it looks in the second image. Also look at the first image where there isn't much grass and plants and in the third image it becomes visible when you get closer.
Here the visiblity of the rocks and grass are circled, also notice the texture of the rocks on the right side of the image.
By the way I'm not saying that how good the game looks is all that matters, I was just pointing out that on those screenshots the shaders were possibly on low as opposed to everything medium which was why better performance was achievable at 1280x800, nothing more nothing less.
And it is true the "shaders quality" setting can affect the overall visual quality of the game as well as performance.
EDIT- screen links changed -
yes, shaders affect's the overall visual quality of the game and also impacts performance a lot.\
oh one more thing, what FPS are you getting pcgamer?
