I'm using 64-bit by the way...
-
-
why don't you try the 174 or 175?
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
could do a benchmark for Sins Of A Solar Empire?
-
is there a way to check what gpu driver i have? i installed 174.31 but i don't know if my laptop is using the driver or not.

look for geforce video -
O_O ^_^
Woah... reading this thread I think I've just made up my mind about which laptop to buy....plus my conclusion is that the cpu is only a problem in multiple character games, like RTS's and RPGs (not really..but), and I dont really plan on playing rts's or rpgs on the PC, there are consoles for thatand the gateway is exactly what I want, a Cheap solution for gamers wanting to play next-gen games....on the...go!.
thanks for the benchmarks for crysis, Bioshock and CoD4 XD -
You must be aware of something, you should check out the GPU score of that laptop in 3dmark06 score, not the overall score cause you know that 3dmark06 gives way much score for CPU (i'm talking about those lappies with X9000)
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
my cpu scored 927 in 3dmark06
-
-
yes..you should check out the gpu score...mine is
5100/4880/2720
gpu/gpu/cpu
and 3dmark06 gives about a 300 point difference per cpu
example:
x9000=11079
x7900=10859
x7800=10658
t9300=10333
t5450=9460
scores based off my system and a 3dmark06 calculator only!!
it's an 8800m gts card, so for most of the games it's doing most of the work(key word, most)
just because i own a porche doesn't mean i have to ride around with a volkswagen engine just because it fits.... -
erm what i'm talking about is that when i'm on stock speeds of my t7200 (2ghz) and SLI 7950gtxs i get 8400 points, but when i do a little OC to2.2 ghz i get 9045 points -.- thats 600 points difference for 200 mhz, also check out Quadcore 3dmark06 with a GT VS dual core, its like 1500 points difference in score with no actual game performance difference, also do you mind posting a screen with you scoring 9460 with that sh i tt y CPU? a laptop with 8800GTX BARLEY does that score with its higher end proccessor, unless that test was @ 800x600 lol
-
key word "examples" and not facts
i would have to go back and put that chip back in...i might do it in a bit.
this was my stock score with 1.66 mhz with old drivers
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=6220211
i do not use anything less thatn 1280x800 and then that is pushing it. i only do those scores to keep up with everyone having 1440 screens or smaller.
check my sig for current 3dmarks. they are up to date as of this week. -
^ there u go its at 1280x800, @ 1280x1024 it would scale down correctly
-
lol you got me to think that my laptop is like shizzle now
thought that was the ACTUAL score of that CPU
-
-
mm if you are talking about the score with the x9000 then thats very normal, but if you are talking about the 1.6 dual core then OMG
-
3D Mark 06 is heavily dependant of the CPU. I mean I have 10600 with 8800m GTX SLI and with a 2.4 Core2Duo at 1280x1024, but on the other hand I have 9400+ at 1920x1200
-
hummmmm, wonder what i can get if i had dual 8800m gtx cards or even dual 8800m gts cards...since im at 10,137 now with one. interesting....now just imagine i was a real 100 percent gamer...then i think i would be maxed out with a 5k system.... wooohooo!! -
Yeah nice score anyway for a 8800m GTS
-
now dont think for a moment i have given up on getting a gtx card in here....*LOL*
-
haha, i think my next system is gonna be a desktop
-
desktop:
q6600 @ 3.4
1066mhz mem 4 gigs
500x2 drives 7200 rpms
8800m gtx 768/384 bit
24" high def gateway monitor
haven't decided if i really need the second card yet. -
lol are you rich or something o_0 my next system is due in june 09
-
nice! at least you have your lappy to tide you over!
no, not rich. just in th computer repair and service business. -
erm i'm curruntly thinking of opening some kind of a shop in the States, you think its worth it?
-
well.... that is what im currently living off of, but more on the networking/spyware removal/adware removal/virus removal/hard drive recovery end of things. the pay is great, but the hours aren't....
24/7 leaves no real time for ones self and family some times.
-
this is just for branier
i put the t5450 back in and guess what......
7000k overclocked and 7000k not over clocked!
what gives???
rotflmao -
You mean putting in a 8800m GTX into the Gateway notebook? Are there any compatible 8800m GTX´s that fits in the Gateway?
-
it's just wishful thinking on my part. they would need to come with a new mother board with the chip already on it. and geared for our fx series as an upgrade. and i would probably go and upgrade on the spot.
-
thanks for the benchmark man
-
but the funny thing is...over clocked at 630/930 and not over clocked at stock 500/800 it changed nothing.
i tried a bunch of different clocks and still nothing, although it scored very high in frame rate for canyon flight at 41+ frames. and it plays crysis at all medium at 1920x1200 averaging 15 to 40+ frames. (dx9) and in fire fights and not just standing around looking at the beach. *LOL* -
that CPU is bottlenecking , to get full use of it you'll need 2ghz-2.4ghz CPU, anything above will just give you some points in 3dmark06 that arent there in games real world
-
Yes although it only bottlenecks in low resolutions. Playing in High 1680x1050,1920x1200 most of the GPU does the work and less work on the CPU. Same with my 8800m GTX SLI setup. I am heavily bottlenecked at lower res with my 2.4 Core2Duo. But at higher res the GPU´s has to work hard putting less strain on the CPU
-
C2d 2.4 is still a great CPU you know
-
Definitely
-
i m having a problem with FEAR. No matter what settings i keep (maximum or low) i get an average of 26 fps with a maximum of 27 and lowest 21.
i m confused any help guys? -
you sure your not gaming in powersave mode...
-
yeah i m sure. i m in HIgh Performance and all other games run fine like Crysis, COD 4 etc
-
well, just played fear and was averaging 35+ frames everything high and at 1920x1200. at 1024x768 system deafault settings was like 150 frames+
-
are u playing in XP or Vista? and did u also install the patches?
-
-
are you running the 174.74 with the HP specific INF from laptopvideo2go? I have tried everything from 169...on up to latest 175's and the 174 gives me by far better performance across the board. And I have to use the HP INF or I don't get the same results. -
everything is set to the highest it can go.
fsaa=4x
anisotropic=16x
vsync=on
screen size=1600x1200
i said 35 because that's the lowest it would dip to. -
oh ok .. alright, thanks for clearing it. cause i'm going to buy my little bro a gateway, and he is F.E.A.R Combat addict, so i dont want him to spit on me on his birthday
-
lol@brainer!
nah, these gateways handle f.e.a.r better than great.
with all that stuff off..190+ frames i was getting.
edit: i had to add the other settings to slow it down..i was getting dizzy looking around...lol -
yeah i m using 174.74 not the HP inf though. Can u please send me a link to it? pleasee?
-
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15094
The download link is at the very bottom of the first post. Don't pay attention to the date of the post, the INF was updated May 3rd. -
thanks hovercraftdriver
-
ok, ive got the Gateway for my bro, and he was Extermly happy and stunned, since the most powerful GPU he ever used was a Geforce 4 or something
-
lol good for u adn your bro brainer
