Hi.
Have you tried the DOX Optimized 185.20 , they are really fast!
Though i don't play games on my Q210 as i find the keyboard cramped, I just like to see what it can do.

Where can I download them?

here, but you will loose brightness control if you use it on your p210.

Thank you for the link, but i think i'll stay with standard drivers
So, is overclocked 9200gs comparable at least to a standard clocked 8600gs? -

Hi.
I thought a p210 had an Intel GPU , is it a mistake in your signature?
John. -
Nop, it has the nvidia 9200gs.
I live in Italy, maybe in other countries is sold with the intel integrated Gpu. -

Hi.
So does your p210 have a matt or glossy screen as a few people were put off the Q210 by the glossy screen, but the UK p210 has an matt screen but an Intel GPU.
John. -
My p210 has a matt screen. I chose it because i don't like glossy screenies very much.
Here the p210 is sold with two different configurations:
one with pentium dual core t3200, 160gb HDD, Intel x4500mhd and the other one, which is mine.
Bye

Waaa, your all getting decent memory OCs (~950) and I can only get 870 :[
Nice 3Dmark06 score there Tinder
Just 60 more points
-

I could push the core and memory even higher, but i don't even play games as the keyboard is too cramped.
Also I dont want to blow my GPU UP!!!!!
John.
PS. You heatsinks must not making as good a contact as the one on my Q210
-
I might invest in some AS5 and pray
What cooling are you using, if any? -
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Hi.
None at all, but it is only 10c in my room at the moment
John.
-
That does it, if its nippy tomorrow, I'm going outside and running 3Dmark06.
I will not be beaten by you lot

Ha ha thats an old trick! Have you tried nvidia's newest 178.28 driver. It is quite fast. I bumped my score by 500 points alone at stock clocks from around 3000 to over 3500 with it. Anyways good luck with hitting 3000 -
Well, currently I'm using DOX's 185.20 and I think they are by far the fastest driver at this time.
That a real good improvement for a driver upgrade.
-
Hi guys, I have a stupid question...
Does the p210 have an MxM slot useful to upgrade graphic card? -
does the 178.28 drivers overclock?
-
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
They do indeed. The speeds in my sig are what I achieved. Seem very stable and quite cool too. Also it is the latest "official" driver from nvidia so can be picked up off their site no modded inf's needed. Check the compatible list of graphics cards tho first on the webpage, where you can download it -

Hi.
Xp does seem to get higher scores than Vista, I got 2940 points in Vista and 2994 points in Xp with the same driver and clocks.
Only 6 points away from the magic 3000 points.

Is your card completely stable at such a high OC? Even without a further OC new drivers released in the future will push you over the "magic" score
-
Thats like 2-3MHz core more. You can do that.
-

I don't think i will bother, I am back on Samsung drivers now!

I am new to all of this.
What do you guys recommend re: overclocking the X460? -
Wow this was pretty cool and informative thanks!
-
Fortunately you have the 9200M GS with GDDR3 technology, so its a better performer than the DDR2 variant.
Seeing as I got to 720MHz/860MHz and all other with this card have managed better overclocks
I would start with an OC of 670MHz/810MHz so you can cut to the chase. I would also suggest searching for an overclock guide here and you
must understand the risks of overclocking before hand.
-
What are safe temps to be reaching? Also, what do you use to overclock? Shall i just do it through nvidia itself?
-
IMO highest temp you should allow it to go is 80C, but can withstand up to 90C. Also, I overclock through nVidia's program nTune. It's easy to use so I just decided to use it rather than using a 3rd party program.
-
I wanted to use the 'tune system' option but it says that i need force2 or something to do that?
-
It seems even easier with a 1st party program and I was suprised it worked with both W7 64bit and Vista/XP 32bit.
This talking of temperatures has jogged my memory about idle temperatures I asked you earlier. You seem to have a better cooling system than me with your max temperatures but your idle temperature seems to be 10-15C higher than mine
-
I really recommend not using the Tune System application. You will get better results if you just put the time and effort into overclocking the good ol' fashion way
Search for the guide here on NBR, its pretty straight forward. -
Is there anything specific on the X460? I am not too sure how far to push the OCing...
Also, when i use DOX's 185.20 i lose brightness control, so what driver should i use? -
How far have you got with the OC then?
I have the same problem with the brightness. I'm considering switching to 185.05 in hope that it will fix the problem. -

Hi.
He manic , I returned my Q210 as i find the keyboard too cramped when playing BF2 or BF2142 , also the brightness thing was bugging me.
Good Luck
John. -
I feel so... betrayed
Nah, j/k, shame though.
What brightness thing? The one I complained about?
I hope you have found a nice replacement for it

Hi.
I have ordered an HP dv5z , it has an ATI Turion 2.1ghz but has an ATI HD3650 GPU 512mb , so i loss on the cpu slightly but gain on the gpu.
have a look at the review below, my spec is better.

It seems to be getting pretty hot at 742/865 area. Max was at 78, how much further could I go, and what driver should i be using?
-
Sweet
That's about as far as most people have gotten with the 9200M GS. Have you ran 3Dmark06 between each increase to make sure its all safe? -
Yeah, seemed okay, the x460 has a pretty good cooling system so it seems okay.
What driver are you all using though, i just want to make sure I am on the best applicable one... -
I'm on DOX's 185.20 drivers set to performance, but am having issues with lack of brightness control
Will be trying DOX's 182.05 to see if it fixes it. -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Don't you mean 182.05?
-
Thats what I typed
j/k Thanks for spotting that. -
Is that already up? Let me know if it fixes Brightness, i got rid of 185.20 straight away because i am not interested in losing brightness control!
-
that system must have really good cooling to have that high of an oc with those temps. its a great achievement.
-
You're right
This notebook is excellent =) -
No change with the brightness issue
But looking into it
-
Any luck as of yet?
-
Not fixed, however I think I can manually change the brightness via the registry, but that requires a re-boot if I ever want to change the brightness.

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Has anyone tested dow2 on 9200m?
9200M GS put to the test.
