Still havent got the 3 roadkill pin which sucks....

 

Road kill is hard because lots of times I just run over someone and it doesn't phase them. I'm trying to get road kills with the UAV though, lol. And I started gettings kills with the repair tool. It works almost instantly like the video showed, using it at the crotch or butt.

 

Speaking of Roadkill,

I was one of the first to spawn on map last night. So I follow a trio ahead of me as we rush over to point A on a Rush Map. Then all of a sudden we all died, because a teammate ran us over with a tank...

Is it really that hard to see 4 people running in a tank?

 

Uh yeah, that is annoying on both ends. I'll be in a tank, and someone will run across right in front of me and SQUISH. I don't recall if you get punished in BC2 though for team kills? If it is it's minor, maybe -10 like for a suicide?

That's another thing, suicides. I've been given a suicide when someone else kills me sometimes. I'm like huh? Did my gun backfire or something?

Seems I'm using a gun like this :

 

I used the Hummer on Atacama Desert. Really easy to swing around the side of the objectives, towards the enemy's spawn and then double back on them. Then just run em down. I actually got all three of mine by running over two guys that just got off of a 4 wheeler and there buddy that was running along side!

 

Yeah when I died after being run over by a tank, I get a screen with big writing EPIC FAIL, for a few seconds then it switches to the normal spawn screen to enter the map.

 

The repair tool is crazy. I was defending on rush maps and just rushing the team with my lightweight/body armor. I got some good kills about 40 in just 2 games only using the repair tool.

 

I used the G3 before. Its is a pure fail gun imo. Slow fire rate, lousy scope, and pretty terrible accuracy.

 

I used to use the G3 pre-nerf with my engineer loadout. However, with the recent nerf and the buff to SMG's I am finding much love for the XM8C.

Concerning road kills. I cannot stand FF being turned on, as an engineer, every time I play on a FF server I get backed over by the tank I am trying to repair. And before you say "stand on the side then", this is just about as dangerous as you are in line of fire of everyone shooting at the tank.

 

Which servers do you guys play on? I am in the US and just picked up the game for my m11x. I normally play on the 360. So far I spent about 30 minutes with a bunch of guys that had no idea what was going on. One guy on the opposite team was wearing a cape with a big S on it because no matter who shot him or how many times he didn't die. What advice can you guys offer? In the short few minutes, comparing 360 to pc the 360 is victorious hands down. Nobody talked at all in the few games I played. Also nobody was spotting enemies either which was annoying.

I too am part of the minority that also likes FPS on consoles. I'm debating getting via Gamefly for PS3.

I just use the server browser and choose whichever has the lowest ping for Rush 32 player map.

I don't know about how PC players compare to 360, but so far, I have seen no team work and I have not heard anyone talk yet while playing. Nada, zero. Very disappointed. Sometimes I wonder if I'm even playing with humans or bots.

 

Voice comms on PC is broken. Also depending on the server, you can't spot enemies on a hard core server. Don't know if they have HC on 360 though.

Hit detection is squirrely all around. Some days I can take a person out with a shot or two. Others I couldn't kill a cat with a cannonball. What's even more frustrating is when you're using the same weapon as an enemy, you know you hit him a dozen times and doesn't die but he hits you a couple and you die. Not to mention sniping with semi-auto weapons. HUH?

 

Even if you cant talk you can still type some things. I make it a habit to tell other people if there are enemies behind our lines.

Hardcore may seem to require more skill, but you need other players to communicate with you which is impossible considering voice comms doesn't work. You need some form of communication. The triangle indicator is kind of a little over the top, but it's better than a bunch of mutes running around shooting things IMHO. If/when they fix voice comms, or include a command wheel (like BF2) then I'll jump in HC.

Not to mention that I don't think the graphic fidelity is there with BFBC2 for playing without some visual aids. I like the BF2 system better. it highlights the enemy on the corner map which you can zoom in (can't in BC2), but it doesn't highlight them in the 3D world. That way you kinda know where they're at, but they don't have that stupid WoW carat above their head.

 

The thing i dont like in HC is that you REALLY need good ping.

If BC2 has the same way COD4 handles accuracy it would be GREAT for me BUT this would do.

 

Personally, I use HC for the easy kills. It's a TON easier to kill in HC than in regular mode. All my pistol stars are probably gonna come from HC games; and probably sniper rifles as well. With a sub-machine gun you just need to spray towards the center of your screen and you're good even without using the guns sight. I personally do like HC mode better for the realism, but like in COD4, HC mode makes killing a LOT easier.

 

for me HC mode just doesnt feel right, every game ive played of that mode ive found at least 10 snipers on each team - camp mortar and snipe...repeat process...if not snipers then assault tubers with resupply and medic hanging close bye....the only time i play hardcore these days is if i join a friend how is in a hc server.

 

I am really starting to hate the friend list inside the game. I just deleted two more people and I don't know who they were... damn game won't let me remove the ones I want.... just removes some random person from the list! Not to mention I can't alt-tab out without the damn game crashing. F'n stupid.

 

Just gotta cross your fingers that BF3 will be a PC only release and will truly be ready and vamped up to run on PCs like a champ.

BC2 has been great success in getting PC gamers excited, but a massive dissapointment in getting everything that SHOULD work out of the box... One problem after another. Fix one problem create another. I guess that's what happens when you try to make a console game into a PC game while claiming it's not a console port...

Hitbox and accuracy weird in that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...
- Really odd that the engineering repair gun seems to be more effective than an assault rifle...
- In the dentist video, I found it odd he could kill people faster by shooting them in the crotch than I can shooting at people in the chest/face...
Mouse smoothing is an absolute disgrace for any PC game.
The FOV is a bit messed up also.
The ATi load times were horrendous. And you know what is truly disgraceful? AMD spent A LOT of resources working with DICE to make sure their game would run well... Great way to repay AMD for their hard work by slacking on this problem and even releasing the game with this problem to begin with.
- Nvidia fanboys say the blame is on ATi. I have never played a game where GPU affected load times like this substantially, so I would have to disagree. Doesn't make sense.
Friends list has been truly messed up.
The single player mission having to start over after each patch? What is up with that? I haven't finished that campaign so I have had to start over 3 times now...
And the UI for game settings looks and feels like console to me. No choice to choose DX9, DX10 or DX11? What is up with that? Other games with similar horrid UI like Borderlands have in common, they are console ports...

I have not played any games in 2 days

I hope to have enough energy when I get off work to get a game or two of starcraft II in. Then after spending some time with the kids maybe some mid day BFBC2 before I go to bed.

I was frustrated from day one. But just decided to relax and play it for what it is, a game.

I am with htwingnut on the game (not the hockey! ). Just have fun. I was getting too worked up over it. Now I just try to kill people with different weapons or vehicles. Still can't get that roadkill with the chopper though!

 

Say you shoot 13% accuracy with the m60, would you use the damage or accuracy perk?

I'm at 370~ kills over 3.5hrs

 

I use the damage perk most of the time. I figure if I'm gonna get an occasional hit, I want it to matter. The accuracy perk never did much for me. ymmv

The M60 is definitely nerfed at distance, at least for me. Still fairly effective at close to semi-mid range. I've started using the MG36 instead because seems its the new gun of choice. I'm just trying to get my last gun upgrade (MG3) then I should have all guns and upgrades. Seems to take forever to get that gun.

Well, at this point, it's the last gun I need to get, so might as well. After that it's just going for pins and insignias, but TBH the game is getting long in the tooth already. Nothing compared with BF2 IMHO. But it does get me excited for BF3. Hopefully there's added content down the road for BC2.

 

MG3 has worked quite well for me, I enjoy playing with it. Obviously not the LMG of choice, but it for sure doesn't 'blow".

Dude, don't want to cause a problem or insult you or anything, but it seems like you only have negative things to say about BC2. Maybe this isn't a thread you need to be contributing to... just my 2 cents.

 

Mid range and closer the MG3 is a beast, if your using it for long range your using it wrong. The MG36 is by far my favorite LMG at the moment.

 

Look up my weapon chart somewhere in this thread. MG3 has the highest kill-time. I know some weapons have been tweaked but it's still a good chart to refer to. T88 is the best LMG ATM. Most accurate, higher rate of fire than the M60, and just a little less damage. Well, maybe I've been playing too much. 9 days to be exact.

 

I am not a fan of the MG 3 either... WAY too long to kill someone. Only reason I used it at all was to get the bronze star for it.

 

I finally got the MG3 and used it. I'm not a fan of it so far. For medic, M60 has been my sidekick. Seems to do well for me. Now that I've unlocked all weapons, what do I do next?

 

Play Starcraft II

No seriously after the weapons are unlocked you work on rank and pins and gold/platinum stars.

After your rank 50 with all platinum stars at that point there is nothing left to do other than just play the game.

That's the sad thing, I don't find BC2 that compelling that I need to play it just to play it. It's more enticing to play it to try the new weapons and gadgets.

 

I like BC2 because I can just play. If I have something come up like kids, phone, dinner, I can quit playing.

In RTS like SC2 if you really need a dedicated window of time with no interruptions. Thats why so far I have only played 3 games as I am afraid to play and maybe get interrupted.

 

Good point. I do like that I can more or less quit BC2 on a whim, albeit reluctantly. Seems I always have to bail when I'm doing really well.

Lately I've held top score until the end when some yahoo beats me by like 30 points or something silly. I just want one round where I'm top player.

I have got top player a bunch of times, then usually next map I end up being one of the worst, so it really depends on the map and teams for me, I am not consistently a top player. But I am consistently on the top half of the score board, even as a sniper witch is all I play now since I unlocked everything and its my favorite class.

Still a bit upset about the un-needed sniper nerfs, but I do good anyways.

 

Just got my PLATINUM on the SAW the last LMG that i havent used yet is MG3 ahaha.

Also leveling up from 45-46 is HARD 290000 points from the normal 200000.

Been playing this game since release and love it. Not to happy with the latest patch but game is still fun. Just wondering, what nvidia drivers are you all using are there any better ones for bf2?

197.45 is the best. I'm moving on to ATI 5870.
