Havent played in a week. Will probably play a few hours next week after the new patch is done.

I haven't been playing much because I've been having some performance issues on my dual-core chip. It appears that my Core 2 Duo bottlenecks my 5870 and performance has been suffering.
I plan on upgrading to i7/i5/Phenom II in June, I'm not sure which one yet I'm still conducting research. I'll probably play a lot more once I upgrade. -
Very odd. The benchmarks I've seen indicate that if you have a beefy GPU like your HD5870, the difference between Dual and Quad is pretty minimal.
Have you upgraded to the latest 10.4a drivers with the latest profiles from Rage3D? -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Trust me, I've done everything possible to get decent performance on my 3.6Ghz C2D and 5870, even a fresh install. No success at all.
BC2 needs a quad-core. -

If anybody finds a patch notes list with the weapon balance changes please post it here for us!
-
Here yah go (From the EA EU Forums where all Dev information is posted):
The Balance tweaks are as follows:
Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.
The G3, VSS, and all SemiAutomatic rifles now settle slightly faster between shots when aiming.
The PKM, Type 88LMG, G3, An94, and 40mm shotgun have returned to their former glory.
Increased the damage of the MG3 to bring it in line with the rest of the LMGs.
Fixed a bug where the Saiga12 with slugs would do too much damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where the SVU would do too little damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where M95 rounds would not kill armored targets with headshots. -
wow, those are some amazing fixes! About time they fixed that Saiga!
-
Oh ho, MG3 is going to be a beast now
-
low settings and you're good to go. My C2D at 2.8 ghz can force 40+ fps constant.
-
I hope the fix the bug with the mission dot...
The G63 LMG has a small red dot for 4X zoom and last night it disappeared for me. And I know Osco when playing as medic had the red dot disappear on him also the other night. -
Disappeared on me too for various weapons, even with "red dot sight" had no "red dot" lol.

I should have used the AN94 more before the patch Oh well wont be playing much nowadays.
-
Heh, did you see me being blown up next to you as we tried to go down that hill under fire from all the 40mm assault attacks and snipers last night? First round with you we won, and I did pretty good eliminating the assault/medics as they tried to flank us to the left, they kept going for the same building, rofl.
I hope they fix the kickback on the M60. That gun is rated to have highest accuracy of the LMG's but IMO has one of the worst because the kickback after first shot is so great that even the second shot hit several feet above and then the third shot hits several shot below. But I guess makes sense since M60 isn't really meant to be shot from the shoulder or chest, kinds of a big gun....
BC2 ought to add prone for snipers and LMGs. -
M60's first shot is extremely accurate, 2nd - 3rd come in higher, but as you hold down the fire button it stays right on the red dot; this gun is truly sickening. The nice feature about the recoil is at most medium ranges, put your red dot on the guys chest and the 2nd or 3rd bullet will end up in his face.
If you want a painful experience with an LMG try using the MG3. Thank God they are fixing that thing. -
Yeah, I saw you in there. It was another one of those times I planned on only playing a round or two so I didn't join TeamSpeak, and ended up playing for a couple hours.
Regarding prone, I agree with you 110% and making that mention at the BC2 site people act like you're nuts and complete idiot. Not only for firing position but for cover. So many times I'm behind a large boulder or other object, and I can kneel, but my head kinda sticks up, so can't take appropriate cover, when for all intents and purposes I should be able to.
I've started shooting from the hip a lot more too since my accuracy doesn't seem to be any less and I don't sacrifice that half second that usually gets me killed. Stupid, but guess to get the kills gotta do what I gotta do. Funny to shoot an LMG from the hip though, lol. -

I've managed to get playing again with lower graphics settings till I upgrade. I appear to be seriously sucking at BC2. I don't know why but my K/D ratio in a match are way worse than before. I don't know what's any different.
It seems to me a lot of times I shoot at someone and all or most of my bullets miss and they seem to kill me first. This has been happening to me a lot lately, it's really frustrating. I can't seem to get my bullets to register with the target.
And I'm tired of the CG spammers, the n00b tube has been nerfed a little too much so now no one uses it much and all we got now are Hot Carl spammers on every level.
*Sigh* I hope this new patch makes things better for me. -
You are not alone usapatriot. Successful hit registers come and go for me a lot. Some games I go on a a few kill streaks, and other games, I swear I'm shooting nerf bullets.
-
How I die in BC2.
#1 Gustav
#2 40mm assault grenade launcher
#3 Hand grenade
#4 Random, no idea, tank, shrapnel, whatever
I don't die from a direct bullet very often in this game. So I don't really worry about dying anymore, just too many random ways to die in this game. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yeah, except for me my bullets rarely connect yet theirs do all the time. I've tried firing from the hip and using the sights, I end up dead head to head now most of the time.
Yep. Pretty much this is the way it goes now. I guess since the hit reg is off people just resort to using the immense splash damage from explosive weps. -
I am very happy there is no prone in this game. BF2 is almost a joke now when I play it, and it all comes down to prone. It's silly how you can't even partially begin to compete unless you are in prone position. No prone in this game has made it much more about moving and gaining position, not about dolphin diving.
-
I've never had an issue with prone in BF2. Firing sniper rifles and LMG's from a kneeling position is kinda silly, but then is shooting these same weapons from the hip. For me prone is more about taking cover than anything else. I hate it when I'm behind a structure of some kind but get killed anyhow because the top of my head sticks up a small bit, when in prone I could easily take cover like I should be able to.
-
That's the entire reason Dice decided not to add prone, they wanted to force you to keep moving and not camp behind a rock for the entire round. It's also why they added destructible environments, so you can't hide in the same building with no fear for an entire round. While going prone seems reasonable, it turned BF2 into a dolphin diving competition and made mobile combat a joke.

I can't wait for Battlefield 3. I wouldn't want anything less than 96-man servers on massive maps with land, sea and air vehicles! Nothing beats the multidimensional combat atmosphere of the PC Battlefield series. It will be epic. I hope we get at least a teaser this year at E3.
In other news, I'm having great fun with the M1A1 Thompson and M14 EBR in BC2!
P.S. What kind of FOV settings do you guys use at 1920 x 1200? -
Between 65~70 for 1920X1200
Use this FOV calculator:
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 FOV Calculator
It really depends on your own personal preference, I set mine at 75 for 1440x900
Also, in other news, the new client/server patch will be delayed until early next week:

The SPECACT pack will be available after the patch. -

BC2 sells 5 Million!!!
THAT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!
just wanted to try the meme
-
Well, I understand that. But are we supposed to run straight into an onslaught of gunfire all the time? Most of the time it's just to hold until they stop firing for a moment to make the next advance. Otherwise they should just call it Kamikazee Company 2.
I thought bunny hopping was more of an issue than dolphin diving. I never had much issue killing dolphin divers. Plus they fixed the bunny hopping with BC2 it seems. I see some people do it a lot in BC2, and they die quickly. Must be bad habits stemming from BF2. -
Rush is kamikaze BC2. Whenever the other team gets an m-com, my team are half snipers all sitting around doing nothing still camping. The engineers just want to keep shooting gustav at the m-com hoping to kill a straggler. Same for assault just shooting their 40mm grenades endlessly.
So only thing left is to just run kamikaze to attempt to disarm the m-com... There is a reason why the few players who actually go for objectives die often, lack of support and team play from the rest of the team. Hooray for kamikaze. -
True, if you had a couple good squads supporting, it would help. But I wish comms worked, because then it'd be easier to coordinate. Say "Hey, I'm going for comms, you cover right flank, you cover left flank, and squad charlie, you cover everything up front. Almost like you need a commander like BF2 to help coordinate.
-
A whole lotta talking in here and I am not seeing anyone playing!!

New mode announced for BC2 yesterday: Onslaught. It's going to be released on Xbox and PS3 first, but DICE has promised it is coming to the PC as well. The gaming mode is a 4 player squad co-op mode, running missions. Basically a co-op campaign mode. It's currently slated to be free, and let's hope it stays that way. I couldn't nail down the ETA on the release for the PS3/Xbox, and they definitely aren't ready to commit a date for the PC.
-
Sweet! Co-op would be a great addition to this game, hopefully that means new maps too!
-
I think they will use the same maps, except in different time of day, and there will be some other stuff added to the maps.

cool, thanks for posting that! Laguna Presa at night..nice!

So we can expect a lot of NVS green then? Sounds interesting. But only if they fix voice comms, lol.
-
Oh was just talking on TS how a co-op campaign for tactical shooter would be awesome
-
Hopefully the new update fixes the problem with the M1 Garand not logging kills. I have at least bronze stars in everything across the board and want my awards!
-
Somethings weird, somethings up tonight. I played a few rounds and it seemed quite frequently I'd run into enemies that we'd come face to face and its like they couldn't see me. They just stood there an didn't fire. I just whipped out my pistol and head shot them. I dunno, happened at least a half dozen times. Strange.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yeah, BC2 has strange bugs at times...
-
maybe they were just really, really surprised to see you!!
-
Ok, I just don't get it.
How is it these snipers are bullet cushions. My most used gun is the M60 or the G36 LMGs, they are just absorbing bullets.
I'm moving. They are moving. Bam from pistol I'm dead... How is it I can just hold fire with my crosshair on them and they get a headshot? I don't think even a veteran Delta could get a headshot while he's running on a running person that is shooting at him with an M60....
I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS GAME WORKS! -
Yeah, it is quite frustrating. I had a similar experience late last night. I would unload into someone, and even connect two, three, four times. They'd shoot back with the exact same weapon that I was using and one shot, every time, I was dead. It wasn't just one player either. It seemed to take three times as much firepower to kill someone as usual. I would launch a 40mm right at their feet, shoot them with an M416, and then have to pistol them a few times before they'd finally fall. And yes I was connecting because I got the white "X" to indicate. Something seemed quite awry.
Like I've said before, it's just too damn inconsistent. I can be best of round one game and getting kills left and right. Next round I'm middle to bottom player and nothing seems to connect.
And whats up with statsverse? Mine haven't updated in three days and says one day until next update and has for the last few days.
All I can say is BRING ON BATTLEFIELD 3!!!! -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yes please, BF3!!! To be honest I'm getting kinda tired of BC2 because combat is too intense for long periods of time. And most of the time I am getting killed by explosives.
I liked BF2 because you could do what you wanted. Although BF2 nade spam has always been kinda bad. At least you didn't have to deal with rocket spammers cause rockets in BF2 barely had any splash damage. -
Yeah nade spams were bad, but you could always flank and destroy. You can to some extent in BC2, but it doesn't seem as effective. Yeah and rocket splash damage is horrible.
-
Yes, Gustav spamming in BC2 is getting out of hand.
-
I die about 20x more to failed hit registration than I do to CG and 40mm GL spam. As long as others are experiencing the same thing, then it puts on us a level playing field, but I tend to think they're not when I unload a full clip, full sidearm clip, followed by a dagger, only to have them turn around an single shot me.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Exactly. This is the problem. Your hit-reg seems to be totally off, yet theirs appears to be fine. It's a huge problem and very frustrating. -
Yep. Good. I thought I was crazy before and was lambasted by a couple NBR people here for making that claim early on that the hit reg was off. I still have hit reg issues often, so I concentrate more on capping flags or blowing up m-com's etc. But it's hard to defend anything if you can't kill someone.
It happens to me more often than not. I'd say 70% of the time. I have some good games, and feel my hits are actually registering so have to make the best of it while I can. EA/Dice haven't acknowledged any of this unfortunately. I'm sure it's all in the netcoding somehow. -
This next patch is supposed to address some server lag issues. There are some tricks that people use, changing the lag compensation to match the avg ping of the server you play on, but there is still work on DICE's end to fix all the issues. It's hit & miss (hahah a PUN) on which servers perform well for me, so I usually try and bounce around until I find a server that is cooperating. Although I do love the bigger matches, I occasionally find less lag and better registration on smaller man servers.
If you want to experience true hit reg frustrations, try using the shotguns. They're the worst by FAR!! -
Agreed! 4 rounds from the SPAS from knifing distance into someone's back had no effect the other day. Had to kill him with a handgun/AT rocket combo, @$^@#$!
-
Today I unloaded 100 rounds straight with an M60 onto a sniper perched on a building and he lived. After I died since you know firing 100 rounds of M60 attracts attention from other snipers.
I saw after I died, he jumped down and ran away, seemingly with 100% life...
I know all 100 hit him since I saw the crosshair indication.
