Met a cheater on on a PB/Ranked server today though. Some mofo medic with an M60 seamingly bullet proof. Saw him wipe out almost half my team by himself, one shot one kill practically.
- There was 2.5 squads, forget the name of the map but the one with large cylinders to the right where players like to flank and then hide among the storage blocks. He wiped us all out and seemed to me 1 shot 1 kill... We all went there as we saw a group flanking. We took down the rest of his squad but he ran off with 70% of his health left still.
No way anyone is anyone that good, he had medics, assault, Gustav's whatever else after him. Pissed me off logged off that server.
- When I logged off, it almost seemed to me he was winning the entire battle for his team single handedly. -

Cheaters don't bug me much because I know they will eventually get caught by PunkBuster.
-
I must be one of the lucky ones, because I am one of those people that could walk through half a team with an M60, my hit detection is always awesome.
Make sure your FPS are not too low, that was my problem before, I had AA cranked and it killed my FPS. -
People keep mentioning FPS affects hit detection. I run at 60+ on my desktop and still it gets wonky. And I hate you narsnail
because I do what you're saying and poeple lose like 2% health. They shoot me from 100 yards away with a pistol and I die instantly. To be honest I think higher the ping the better. I usually am 120 or lower and do poorly. If it is about 200 or so I do quite well.
-
wow, looks like alot of changes since i've last played. i should be on later tonight.

Is the new patch already out?
I play at borderline 30 FPS when i play. I dont think i have bad hit detection. -
Here's my take on hit detection.
my 2.8 ghz C2D didn't have any hit detection problems with all low settings.
the i7 720qm had slight hit detection problems with high settings when not in twin turbo mode (8%) OC. When OCed, it improved like night & day. -
That seems odd. I'm running on my desktop, Q9550 @ 3.4GHz, GTX 260 core 216 (EVGA overclocked) at 1920x1200 with max detail (no AA) and it runs at 60+ fps, so not sure how it could improve much more. I'll try low detail and see if that helps. But I can't imagine the 720qm any more powerful than a desktop Core 2 Quad @ 3.4 GHz.
There is just something wrong with the coding. I can have a streak of good games, most hits are registering, getting 1.5 to 2 k/d, then I'll go on a streak where I'm getting .2 or .3 k/d and it's not because of my aiming. -

I just got inspired to play BF2 again.
-
You are actually at a hit detection advantage (as far as being shot) when you have high ping. This is the exact reason why BF2 often would boot you for high ping, because you were damn near impossible to hit. In BFBC2 this isn't quite the case as you will actually get the hit confirmation "x" on your end and the guy on the other end doesn't take damage. I love seeing X's and even more frustrating is seeing blood splatter only to have the guy remain at 100% health.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I'm not going to play BC2 anymore until the lag and hit reg blues are FULLY patched. It's just too frustrating to play otherwise.
-
Hey come join us with High Rollers Gaming Clan.
Here is a fix for your hit detection and lag
High Rollerz Gaming - HRGamers.com Forums-viewtopic-Hit Register/Mouse Fix
Look forward to seeing you on the server
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I believe the upcoming patch will reduce negative mouse acceleration in BC2 and is also supposed to address some of the network lag and hit reg issues. I think I will just wait it out since it's suppose to come out early next week. Thanks anyways though!
-
Half the time I try to get on that HRgamers server, it is either empty or down.
Damn this game is broken... friend's list not working... not keeping track of my sniper headshots... etc etc etc....
-
Go on their TS, usually have 3-4 players playing if not on their server some random together.
-
There were a good 5 to 8 people on Saturday night actually. It was pretty fun. But those guys BS with each other, and clearly know each other. I felt a bit outta place. Good way to beef up your stats though, lol.
-
Yeah since there is the 100 counter and with 5 v 5, I think everyone had some 30 kills and the every possible medal. But they all work together great. One of the few times when I see engineers take advantage of the tracer dart I place. On public server, engineers seem to be incompetent and don't take advantage of the free homing beacon...
There were a few of them online last night and we played on a few public servers. -
I've never been able to get that homing beacon to work. I tried the CG and the RPG7, neither seemed to lock on.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
You are supposed to aim at the beacon for 2-3s until you get lock-on range estimation number which pops up on the bottom of the little red square, then you fire quickly as you will lose lock in a couple more seconds.
Anyways, I just had a 36-6 round on Africa Harbor Rush. We were at the second set of MCOM's when the OP team blew them up. I managed to lay low and wait for them to clear the area before I started to shoot them all in the back! I have a new weapon of choice for the AT kit. The Avtomat, yes, that crappy 20-round default engineer gun. It's silenced, accurate (semi fire) and the open sights make it a breeze to use without a RDS or 4x sight.
I ended up stealing their tank and my team bled them out of tickets. -
I'm starting to realize that the stats of the gun don't mean much. I mean some weapons that show low accuracy I get killed by all the time.
Plus I am seeing friendlies blowing up M-coms quite a bit in Rush maps. I don't get it. I go to defend an M-com, no enemies around, even using motion sensor, and it blows up. Then I defend the next one, same thing, then I realize a dork is blowing up our own m-com's. I don't believe you get any stats for blowing up your own m-com's do you? This has happened on multiple occasions. I don't get it. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Stupid move by DICE to allow MCOM friendly fire in regular gameplay. Players who blow up their own MCOM's just get a few measly negative points. I know because I've done it. Sometimes it's a little fun to annoy your whole team!
-
I should do it when the team sucks, just to get the round over. Sometimes everyone, and I mean everyone swarms the one m-com because there's a few enemies there, leaving the other completely exposed, and I'm the only one there to defend and of course die... a lot.
This game needs more in-game commands, or a commander, or just VOIP in general. A little squad commanding would help out a bunch! -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Agreed--I've seen that one problem occur a lot. One MCOM get's armed and the whole team rushes over to save it leaving the other totally undefended. The fact of the matter is, that there is no true way for squads or even players to truly organize and coordinate. Unless you are playing with people you know or belong to a clan it's going to be chaos most of the time.
Occasionally you may get a more competent team, but this is a really rare occurrence.
Not that a commander giving orders would make much of a difference, but it would help. I played many BF2 rounds in which people did not squad up or just plain failed to obey the commander. However, IF the VOIP worked and IF we had a commander that used their mics and communicated with squads it would be easier to get a good, solid game going.
However, there are just too many variables. Anyone would typically be able to command in a round which could lead to some n00b setting the game up for a quick loss.
Erg, I hope they find a way to work out all these issues in BF3. -
there is ingame chat....
i know because i have had to listen to people shouting things in italian down it. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it sounds too low and sometimes people don't use it. It's semi-broken, people don't expect it to work and most people wouldn't use it anyways. -
Exactly, it kinda works. I've heard people talking and it is all broken up. Horrible.
And about commanding, maybe not a commander, but just a command wheel like in BF2 or other games to give basic commands, but better yet, just VOIP with the option to speak to squad or team so you can coordinate a bit better. I don't know. As it is now it just doesn't work. Funny how an M-com goes flashing and all the blue triangles surround it like someone just dropped a bag of money. Then throw a motion detector and see only orange surrounding the other one, lol. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yeah LOL. It's either all hands in to attempt to disarm or no one attempts to disarm looking nervously at each other to see who's gonna go defuse.
It's pretty funny how the bystander effect is readily apparent in video games too! -
no one seems to be doing that when i play...... *people oblivious as i fly a UAV loaded with C4 into the mcom*
(i rarely do that, don't worry i'm not a cheater
)
-
First of all, how do you get C4 on the UAV, I'm assuming someone else does it? Becuase once you leave the station, the UAV crashes. Also when you crash it does it automatically explode or do you have to manually explode them?
-
Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
You must have 2 people 1 to fly the other to detonate.
-
Talking about M-COM's, do you guys think it's a cheap move or a smart move to destroy the building the M-COM is in (assuming it's a fully destructible building, not just walls/roof destruction), in order to destroy the M-COM? ... I've seen people sitting back at a distance in a tank just shooting the M-COM building, eventually destroying it, and getting the points. I'm undecided if this is cheap or not...
On another note, I just noticed this thread is ~90 pages now....crazy! -
I don't think it's cheap. Whatever it takes IMHO, except for defending team blowing it up.
-
yeh me and my mate do the c4 on anything
cover a helicopter and plough it into the mcom jumping out at the last minute, drive quick through the other team on a quadbike into the mcom building through the door then hop off, run out and BOOM..... it's fun, but we don't do it often cos it's not really fair. and yes the buildings are destructible so as to make that an option of mcom destruction. if the team is bad enough to not bring an engineer or 2 or some c4 to get rid of the tank, they deserve to lose. 40mm grenades are also a good way of taking the buildings down.
-
Yep, I've been saying on TS I think this should be fixed. It also makes trying to disarm the M-Com impossible when the other team has a horde of snipers with mortor and engineers with Gustavs in the distance.
I also think it makes the game boring as you are constantly just trying to play long range looking for snipers, tanks and engineers and assault w/ grenades in the far distance. Much easier for them to just blow up the building. -
Only voice com fixes that. Other day with entire squad on TS one dude goes, Ike disarm the m-com, got your back. Someone says look for for B, so one of us goes over to keep look on that. Fun fun, voice communication is.

Looks like I won't be on tonight--spilled coffee all over my desktop, it's in pieces while I clean it and hope it works.

Oh crap. How the heck did that happen? Were you taking it apart?
Use 99%+ alcohol on everything, and drink a little 100 proof while you're at it

Sure, if it works! Stupid friends list is all screwed up. I want to delete some contacts because they never play and / or never play with them, but it doesn't delete the right contacts from you list. I have a few open slots, so I can add you. Just hope its fixed with the upcoming patch

innit, it was supposed to be released on the 14th of this month. to be honest i'd rather they not rush it and get it right.

Antec 902 has a big fan on top and I have the case next to my desk. I had a nearly empty coffee mug sitting in a plate on the edge when I shoved my keyboard over to make room for something and it knocked the plate and remaining coffee onto the top fan. A few drips got onto the mobo and gpu.
Anyhow, I put it back together after cleaning with 91% alcohol etc. CPU stress tested fine but GPU stress test crashed. I'll run it again tomorrow, it could just have been a random software error. I just hope everything works out.
I am too clumsy. -
Ahhh. I have an Antec 900 case, so I know the fan that you're talking about. Luckily I have a desk system and a spot in the corner that the laptop slides into, otherwise I'd probably have spilled lots of coffee and/or beer over the years.
If the fan was going, luckily it should only be spatters which would evaporate quickly. But then again, it gets it everywhere. Ouch. Hope everything works out. -
GAAAAH! I think I'm gonna have to take break from this stupid game. Hit detection sucks, period... I know I sound like a friggin parrot, but it's the truth. Today with a shotgun I couldn't hit anyone standing right in front of me.
Then I decided to just snipe instead of being on the front lines. Using a GOL, I went to hit a stationary guy. I knew he was wounded, so I just aimed for his mid section to at least get a hit and most likely kill him. He was quite a ways away too. I got him, but it registered as a headshot. By my estimation it should have hit him in groin with any amount of bullet drop...
Then getting killed by a handgun from 100 yards away several times... sigh. Even Jack Bauer couldn't do that. -
maybe ur just bad
-
No not bad, quite good. He exaggerates though because whenever I play with him and Osco, they are usually in the top 4. Just noticed when helmut misses a few times or gets one shotted by a Saiga across the map, ruins the experience. Same for me, I'd have to agree. Can have a streak of 4 kills but when you die that one time because you know hit your opponent but run off with 100% health, that's all you think about.
-
My k/d is awful, but I score quite high because I take advantage of the other scoring opportunities: capping flags, blowing up m-coms, defending m-coms, offering support or med kits, lots of assists (because I can't kill a cow with a cannon)...
That's the thing, I usually get near the top most rounds, and know I should have close to double the amount of kills, but never do. Periodically I get a good combination of whatever God requires to actually kill someone, and I'll get at least 2:1 kill ratio. -
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
Trust me HT, it's not you. On several servers last night, one in particular with questionable play I literally and I mean LITERALLY ran up behind a sniper, knifed him while he was facing AWAY from me.. I see the knife hit, the blood and the my screen goes ... KILLED BY BLAHBLAH .. I was like what the? How did he kill me.. turns out when I knifed him, he got the knife kill on me .. again he was facing AWAY from me and sniping and I still got killed. That is not bad play on my part.. that is BAD players having to HACK to make the game fun to them. So.. HT it is not you. This game needs some hit detection help, but it also needs to shore up the hackers as well.
BW,
StevenX -
Yeah, I see people frequently banned for hacks. I don't know why people bother. One guy was like a level 40 and he got banned, lol. Scary thing is that it took that long to have him figured out.
-
Well I ended up playing with ziddy on the HRgamers.com server last night and joined their TS server. They were good guys, we had a lot of fun even with the horrible hit detection!
They didn't have a lot of folks on their server, so we ended up heading over to another one and running a squad together. We kicked some serious a$$ and had fun doing it! We had top squad every time and I even got top spot a few times!
So, maybe just playing and chatting with good folks can make the ridiculous mechanics seem tolerable and the game seem fun again!
ps. damn statsverse still broken! Using bfbcs.com for now.
