if they get the 'EA Gun Club' (crappy name for it :S ) working we should ALL be able to play the beta if you own BC2

 

Yeah i hope they let current BC2 users to play in the BETA but just in case they dont

You must preorder MoH to get a beta key. People who have purchased BC2 only get access to the beta earlier.

 

Oh man, that stinks.

I might get the game, but I really want to play it before I pre-order anything. (And plus I don't have the funds right now to pre-order anything).

When reading it, I almost got excited when it said something about BC2 VIP. But you just get to play it a few days early, you still have to pre-order the game.

If anyone somehow gets a spare key, I would really appreciate it (or if you can use the key multiple times? I don't know, I just want to try it out, then give the key back).

 

Patch is finally coming out! If it's approved by Steam, it should be out Wednesday. Seems the crashes they were having issues with was related to the SPECACT DLC which won't be included in the patch anymore. Crossing my fingers for improved performance in this patch.

Yeah i really hope they fix the knifing issues. I used to love the knife but lately i have been coming up behind people and just seeing blood with no kill.

 

Still no sign of the update... anyone want to put down any bets?

 

It's been confirmed, the patch is delayed until Monday...if you can believe that deadline.

 

The real question is... which Monday?

 

Well its difficult to believe, since its been delayed before. In any case, I won't be able to play any game until I get another 5870, since i bricked my current one... I've learned my lesson: don't mess with BIOSes unless you have to.

 

You could probably sell your 5870 on eBay. Some tool will buy it thinking they can swap out the BIOS.

Well I guess if I specifically mention that its bricked with bad BIOS flash, they can't fault me if they find out they can't fix it.

Well, yeah, disclose that it's a bad BIOS flash. Someone may actually be able to fix it or think they can. At least you'll get something out of it.

I do have a lot. You can blame Steam package deals for that. Over the last few years they've had some awesome deals and couldn't pass them up.

 

I know the feeling, I can't resist sometimes, such excellent deals.

 

This isn't Steam's fault in any way, DICE is the game developer and they are the ones that have been sitting on their thumbs for the past 3 months.

lol do people really believe that a game dev just sits around and play with their thumbs all day? Its called quality control. Things just dont magically happen because its expected to.

 

Whats the point of having a Sage ebr stock on an M14 if you cant mount optics on it?

When are they going to fix the M1 Garand?

 

Hopefully the M1 Garand fix comes out with the update patch on (*crosses fingers*) Monday. I forsee servers being loaded with M1 Garands for the first few days as people try to get the badges they haven't been able to till the fix....there's atleast 15k points waiting for me as soon as I get 25xM1 Garand kills, and i'm sure it's the same for most people. BFBC2 will be COD2 for a few days

Good question. I don't know why they couldn't divulge that info. It's clear it wasn't temporary or he'd be back by now one would think.

 

I'll try asking him next time I see him online on BC2... I wonder if a ban list/reason for being banned thread would be appropriate in the OT section...

 

Update, just spoke with usapatriot (Chewie_77), and the word is he was temporarily banned for asking a question in the Linux forums. I don't know the whole story, but he should be back once his ban is lifted.

We were just defending together on an Arica Harbor map...we destroyed the other team pretty bad! Assault Class+Shotgun Attach+Lightweight Perk+Magnum Ammo = a huddled squad's worst nightmare

I know this isn't really relevant in this thread, but I just received an email from EA with a code for the MOH Beta. Too bad I can't login to EA.....EA has to have the WORST account login system I have ever used! grrrrrrrr

 

Update: figured it all out, so it's downloading now. I'm not sure if the redemption codes are unique though. Anyone know if I can share these codes?

 

Oh man, oh man. I just had the BEST game ever on Bad Company 2 tonight.

Holy cow! How do people manage 69 kills? That's just insane! I can't make more than 20 or so ... EVER! Even when I'm top player, I have best of 20 or so kills with 15 or 16 deaths. Maybe I need to use sub machine guns more because I usually play recon with Saiga and slugs. I love that combo with the motion detectors, M1911, you're a one man wrecking crew. But I guess just can't do as much damage with the Saiga. Plus I need to hunt down an assualt class because I run out of ammo quite a bit.

Saiga is my best weapon by a LONGGGGG way, and i don't use slugs. I use pistol to take out anyone moderately far away from me, and in closer combat 2-3 quick shots from the saiga and they are usually dead before they realise you are in front of them.

also, what size servers do you play on? i find anything more than 24 and the kills are so spread out between the team that u don't really get more than 30.
20 man server with 60-100 tickets on each base (providing they actually blow it up) u'll be rollling in the kills.

 

I usually play 32 man servers. I dunno, guess just used to BF2 64-man and anything less than 32 seems way too sparse. But maybe that's what I gotta do.

today we played a match where we agreed only to use Knife, Defib, C4, Repair Tool, Mines and Roadkill. What hilarity it was. People on quads doing drive by repair tooling, UAVs flying low to bladechop people, people attempting drive by repair tooling being defibbed off the quad xD T'WAS GREAT!
I think we should (try to) arrange one of these for you NBR lot if you're interested, I have a server if needs be.

That does sound like fun. I wish you could control that on the server level just to force people to use those items.

When they (the one programmer that works on the patch) figure out why it was causing the game to crash.

 

Yep, Kalms is the only guy working on the patch and it's absolutely ridiculous. And for some reason, ever since this last big patch was released I can't play BC2 at all. I just suck at it. Seems like I am dieing way more than I am killing. I don't really know what has caused this.

Damn this game is good, I'm kinda getting the hang of it, got my 100 Headshots with my lovely weapon SV98. w00t It takes too long to get M95 T_T, have the GOL atm.

 

The hitboxes are indeed slightly larger. The way they were before, the hitboxes were the same size as the player, but trailed slightly behind, so you could miss a moving player even if your shots were landing on their front side. Now, they're expanded so that they cover the entirety of the player.

Again, it's not consistent. I played one round and got like 27 kills and 10 deaths, next round almost the opposite 12 kills 25 deaths. The shotgun slugs are definitely harder to kill with now. I'm best to go back to the smgs. I was working on my platinum with my Saiga, but I may not be able to now.

 

sneak round behind them and saiga/knife your way through them all back towards your base t'is what i like to do

 

Problem is I've Saiga'd the guys in the head like four times and they go down to like 2-5%, turn around and shoot me. Wasn't like that before the patch. I could blast them from a decent distance as long as it was near the head they'd go down with 2-3 shots.

 

do you put magnum ammo on?
