dont worry mate, i had a .64 average when i first started the game, it was so different from mw2 that it took a few weeks to get used to a real tactical shooter, now im close to breaking even...i think im .98 i have clawed my way back from 600-1000 lol...hard work but fun all the same

I joined the game you were in for a short period, but my ping was horrible (380).

I'm not worried. I'll climb back. I did some stupid things, and some issues with scoring on tank destruction and some hit registrations on some servers. I'm learning still. Just hope Sig-O-Matic gets back up. I'm up to level 8 as opposed to my measley 3 that shows. LOL.

 

i just went 8 and 5, and I feel like GOD.

 

Yeah but its still there I just have to press tab, and the score board covers part of the minimap too so its annoying.

Its taking longer to level up and earn things in BC2 vs MW2 im trying to get Recon unlocks. Every other sniper out there already seems to have the best rifle and loves to shoot me with it so I can envy the.

I think going back to deathmatch instead of rush will help me level faster, areas are smaller so more kill points.

 

damn thats not bd mate i joined a game with one of you guys from the states and my ping was 440, ill be heading over to the states in june/july so we can play some games then......yeap if we think long term we can always claw our way back up.....

rush hardcore mode is the best for snipers.

 

I wonder how I am gonna do with other classes. I notice if I try to get into the fray on rush that I get gunned down fast or some kind of tank gets me.

If I was not playing stealth and distance and rushing in with another class I dont see my life k/d ratio doing so well...

I really enjoy the game though so far now that I am getting the hang of it.

Vicious you know you can choose where to spawn right? You can spawn wherever a teammate is.

 

The server you were in must have been a "Hardcore" mode. So it removes the radar by default.

Lot's lag issues with the latest server patch. Usually it's bad for a few minutes immediately after joining but then it tends to get better as the round progresses.

I must say that Africa Harbor conquest is quite fun. It's very intense and infantry only makes it awesome fun. The only this is that there are a lot of Carl Gustav and 40mm nade s.

 

Hey guys I thought about adding a 3rd data entry to the friends form.

I want to add a "location" drop down box so you can choose where you live. The reason is because I notice ping rates seem to fluxuate very widley in BC2 depending on the server location so it may not work so well for us to try to play with one another if we are across the globe.

Adding the region area lets you focus on people that live closer to you that you should be able to have more enjoyable games with.

If you like the idea, I think I am going to wipe the whole list and just let everybody submit there info anew, this way we know who is actively using the list and still looking at this thread and it will prevent duplicates.

The next thing I would need to do before making that change is to decide how many regions I need to make and what they should be.

Is it good enough to just have broad ranges like "United States" "Australia" "United Kingdom"

Or does it need to be more specific like "West Coast United States" "Central" "East Coast"

If its the latter, I need to know the main zones to use for places outside the states as I am not too familiar with them.

 

East, Central, West, Autralia, Europe, would be good IMO.

Or just -5 GMT, -8 GMT, +1 GMT, and whatever Australia is

I would suggest that at the last drop down menu , with the region, to add a text input field where each can write the country aswell? Might help, since from personal experience latency can differ from country to country (let alone continents).

 

Its one or the other, text input or a drop down.

I figured for consistency sake I prefer the drop down option. Atleast having a general idea is way better than no idea and that was really my only goal.

If i wanted to be specific I would use a google maps application and let you put a marker on the map with your exact location. This way when you kill somebody 13 times in a row they can come to your house and throw a frag grenade at your front door to say thank you for the GG.

Honestly I have not had a problem playing people from the other coast online so I assume it works similar in other areas of the world its when you jump across the water that things go sour.

If you want to give me 5 or 6 main areas I would add them to the list. Like I think I would like to add the United Kingdom as a selection since I have known many people from there.

 

I was on the same server as you last night Vicious. On rush defense I always do much better than attacking. I had a really good round on defense, but it was completely negated by the attack.

We need a Vent or TeamSpeak server for people that want to play together. I have TS2 and TS3 server running on my WHS and I'll be glad to use that. I will put Ventrillo on there too, just haven't had time to download and figure it out yet. I can probably support a handful of people or so, just don't want to saturate my upload bandwidth with voice comms.

 

when its just me and 1 person I find steam works good for voice chat. I have yet to use this games built in voice.

I saw a NBR member on the game with me didnt know who it was.

Man.. I must be a really bad sniper... I have used sniper exclusively for a few days now and only lvl 3. I get a range of 300 to 800 points. Usually in the 300's but I used Medic just one time with no unlocks or anything and got 1600 points that round.

Its making it hard to dedicate to sniper when there are some very useful unlocks in higher level. Namely for the sniper I could use the armor or magnum rounds.

 

Same boat. I've been playing with the Assault class, but I find myself gravitating to the Saiga 12.

Does anyone have any detailed guides on all of the unlocks? DPS, weapon comparisons, etc?

Just to make sure, did you update to latest DirectX (microsoft.com/directx), update pbsetup.exe, uninstall and delete any traces of the beta (if you used it)?

 

Yeah, I've done everything short of reinstalling the game. Maybe I should try that next.

I've added a couple of you folks here already, looking forward to meeting you on the battlefield! I'm not set up with a mic yet though: does the in-game chat even work? I've never heard anyone using it. I've gotten pretty used to using the "spot" key in-game to communicate for ammo/medic, rides, attack/defend orders, and especially spotting. I love how you can get points for spotting. There are a lot of way to make easy points like that.

Vicious, for sniper, make sure you deploy those motion sensors in the heavy firefight areas because you'll get points for every kill made in that area. I rarely get kills as a sniper but still rack in the points for support actions/flag caps.

 

Steam has voice chat? Never used that. Hmm, then again, I rarely connect with friends for multiplayer through Steam.

 

Oh yeah, if you're using Steam, I was CTD'ing a lot and turned off Steam community in game. That kept crashing me. Try that if you haven't already.

I haven't heard anyone use it in-game either. I haven't tried, but I don't think it works.

 

The in game chat is FUBAR, that is why no one bothers with it. Better to get a TS3 or Vent server going.

 

Yeah me and a friend were playing MW2 and you just open up a chat window on steam and use the "call" button.

It connects you together in voice chat, I use push to talk so I could talk to him in game even when he was on another team. Not sure if there is any way to do mass voice chat like teamspeak or vent, probably not. But for you and a friend just playing together it works great, and you do not need to be in a steam game to use it (though I have attached my EA downloader version of BC2 to steam so it runs as a non steam game and I still have all the steam features other than inviting somebody to a game)

 

I really want to play with some of you guys using voice-chat and all. What are you guys using? TS?

I have the non-STEAM version so I can't use STEAM chat.

 

We finnaly switched server company and hopefully we will have stable ones now

I believ they are both HC, and you are all welcome.

 

Again you can use steam chat, just log into steam and start chat with one of your friends. It has nothing to do with the game. Plus you can add the game to steam as a non steam game and even get the overlay.
