A lot of servers now are HC... I hope there would be more Normal ones.

Anyway.

Laguna Presa RUSH map is GREAT although it is heavily Biased to the attacking side.

 

Yeah, I'm not too fond of HC servers. I'm sure it's good when you play really well and are an addict, but for me, I am a casual player and don't care to try to sift through all the smoke and fire and haze and super duper bright sun (are we actually ON the sun? sheesh) and try to see if it's an enemy or not.

yeah im not a bad player not great but ok and i cant stand HC mode either, i like the no hud idea but kills are to easy encouraging too many snipers or tubers taking a lot of the fun out of the game.

 

yeah i myself like regular mode too...but all the guys I play it are into HC so im stuck

 

I'm just getting into HC mode...the kills are soooo much easier, and I use the guns crosshairs regardless so it's pretty easy to adapt in my case. I find my points coming out of a HC match always greater than a regular one.

 

If you are a medic or a supporter assault(one who gives a lot of ammo boxes) you might want to play in Normal mode. I lost 1 SPM when i played in HC. 1

 

How many Ace pins do you guys have? I collected 160 so far.

Is it just me or did this game just get so boring after playing a while.
(I think its just me ) Its a great game though.

 

it will get boring once you unlockedf verything and once you reached around lvl 25. Once you reach 35 you will again experience this.

To keep it from getting boring try to PLATINUM every weapon...That will keep you busy hehehe. Of course once you get tired, come back again after some time.

I am already tired or needs a rest from this game. BUT i dont want to lose my ranking in the leaderboards so I tend to play still.

 

Looks like the list has been reset or something.. there are less names on it now than there used to be. Make sure you're on the list folks, if not, add yourself to it again so we can squad up!

 

That's not good. Looks like it took you about 60 hours to get there, will probably take me 80 . Either way I have over 600 hours in BF2 and five years later I still want to get in and play.

I hope they don't consolize BF3 and ruin it. BF3 needs to be at least as epic as BF2 and moreso. I'd rather they forego Bad Company 3 on the PC to make an awesome BF3 PC experience.

 

Finally got the VSS, it's not as good or useful as I expect. And yes, I agree. BF3 must be PC only in order for it to get the attention from its developers that it deserves.

I'd be perfectly happy with a BF3 that featured improved graphics, more players, bigger maps and kit customization combined with all the teamwork aspects introduced in BF2142.

 

I find myself shooting grenades, despite the PSA's from Mr. Sabathia.

 

yeah i find the only weapon i use in recon is the GOL, its powerful and accurate, i have been playing around with some of the shotguns a bit lately which can be fun......

 

I suddenly got a lot better, I think the 12x scope helped a lot but I am getting a lot higher scores now with recon. There are still a few games where I have bad luck and a lower score but very few. I stick with the starting rifile or the GOL the semi auto's dont have the long range accuracy or power I need. If your that up close I think your better off in the shoes of a different class.

Some maps are not good for snipers, for those maps that are congested and crazy I break out the Saiga shotgun and go to town. I have one more level till I get the extra shotgun capacity perk and that will make it even better as the saigas main weakness is how fast it empties, if you run into 2 or 3 guys you can kill one but run out of ammo before you kill the 2nd probably and a reload is death as its very slow.

I got the M95 thinking it would be great and all but it sucks, its slow between shots but the worst is the slow scoping action, its like 3x slower than the other bolt action rifles and key to staying alive is to be able to duck from cover scope and then get back under cover quickly so you can take a shot before being shot.

Hiding your position i great and all but only works for a shot while, so learning to shoot and get kills while your position is known is a good skill. The M95 also gives away your position a lot worse than all the other rifles with the sub sonic trail of doom. Id maybe use it if it was 1 shot kill to body to make up for the rest, but its not.

I have a higher chance of a headshot kill with the faster rifles or just getting 2 shots off in most cases is not hard.

 

I'm getting fluctuating k/d and accuracy. I don't get it.

As primarily an Assault Class, I had several rounds with > 1 k/d, but my shot accuracy was only like 20%. Another couple rounds, I had over 80% accuracy with like 800 shots fired (can't remember what semi-automatic) as assault, but only 2 kills and 10 deaths. Makes no sense to me.

Seems you pretty much need to pick your few weapons and couple classes and run with that. I still don't see the need as recon. I had one round where I was dying a lot on the front lines, so I played as recon and got like 11 kills to 2 deaths. Next round it was almost opposite, 3 kills to 8 deaths.

Sigh. Oh well, I'll just go out guns blazing. I *DO* have fun, but maybe I'm thinking too much about it. Maybe I should just go out and play.

 

Haha, well I know you blew me up once with an Abrams and killed me once on foot last night LordHelmet!! So you couldn't be doing too bad!!

I think a lot has to do with trigger discipline though... do not hold down the trigger, short bursts only!

It didn't help that I just added the speed perk + 4 grenades for the assault class. I have been getting some 20/10 games though.

 

Ha! LOL. I did get you? I wasn't paying attention. Although I do realize accuracy and k/d isn't everything. It's teamwork and completing the objective. You can have a horrible k/d and accuracy and still score well for the round. But my k/d ratio is up to 0.52 from 0.4 so something must be getting better. Still horrible, but improving.

Sometimes it seems too, that people pop up out of nowhere. I'll survey the area, looks clear then I step out and someone pops me with a PKM or whatever right out of the clear blue.

I think I'm finally gettin familiar with the maps too, that definitely helps. Not to mention I still play BF2 so keep screwing up keys between the two.

And yeah yeah, bursts only... LOL. I won't go there.

my accuracy is high with my rpg/m2 also because i usually get multi-kills with them. 100% accuracy is crazy.

 

How many stars does it take to Platinum? I just want to be done with it and move to different weapon it's becoming childs play with that weapon. And I swear half of my UMP kills are just leftovers from the carnage.

haha. so many people hate that thing yet so many folks love to use it. The splash/area damage is ridiculous on it, which I think leads to the high accuracy. You just have to hit someone/thing with each shot.

 

And yet a 40mm grenade will blow up at someone's feet and they just keep coming right at ya. I haven't tried that Gustav yet, maybe that's what I need to do to improve my k/d. LOL. Whatever it takes.

 

Gustav improves k/d definitely. You will get multiple kills a lot.

 

yeah it takes 10 gold stars to get a platinum, i did the same with the tube, but im really glad its platinum now so i can play around with different weapons etc, ive unlocked everything for all classes, now i can slowly work on leveling up the different weapons and have some fun.....

 

Maybe that's my problem. I switch around from class to class all the time, and not concentrate on one class at a time. I'm really curious about the noob tube now. I might as well use that since everyone else seems to be.

I just checked and I have 21 kills with 91% accuracy with only about 50 minutes of use. LOL. I guess I better get that sucker back out of my basement arsenal.

40MM Grenade Launcher + Ammo Box = Worst Combo Ever!

 

I found a good combo that is fun and just owns. I tried a new mode squad deathmatch. I got Recon fully unlocked so Medic was next up and I just totally suck with the stock guns on the Medic so what did I do?

Broke out the Saiga auto shotty, and light weight perk and just went on a killing rampage. I got the best player pin 2 rounds in a row and my squad got best squad and we of course won the games. My points were 5x higher than with recon, so high I got 2 ranks (9 and 10) in just 3 games.

I got 3 new guns rather fast but think I will stick with the Saiga till I get the OP M60. Plus points points points for heals and revive if you can squeeze them in.

Worked great on that small urban map we were on, on larger maps I would be tempted to go back to sniper/recon.

Im thinking I may go back to deathmatch rather than rush/conquest things move along faster and less camping and stuff from other players.

I honestly felt Saiga was underpowered when I first used it but the double size clip perk lets it become usable. It can take 3 to 5 shots at semi close range to drop somebody so you need the larger clip to take on a 2nd person that is always close by because reload is slow. The faster move perk is a natural fit since you have to get close to use the shotgun, even at semi far distances you may as well be throwing rocks at them.

 

Hmmm, interesting. I hated that Saiga because I died before I could kill someone even up close. But your strategy may work. Just as long as you can get close enough. Seems you need to be only a few feet away to make it effective,then might as well knife them or pistol.

In that regard it seems pistols are way overpowered. I can hammer someone with my XM8, and they barely drop, but a couple pops with an M1911 and they drop like flies. Obviously you need to get close range for that to work though.

 

Everything you just said is 100%. It's my fav setup. If you can get all 5 shots on them, you can have decent range on all squad deathmatch maps.

 

grrr I hate people who use the AT rockets as a close quarters weapon... reminds me of COD4 too much. I understand why you need them in a game, but maybe reducing the splash damage on them similar to the AT rockets in BF2 would be better. IRL, an RPG from 5ft away would kill both people, but then again this isn't IRL.

On another note, we were on the same server last night LordHelmet. I tried squadding up with ya but your squad was full. I did stalk you for a bit though, your style is similar to mines, i.e. sprinting to flank and going for objectives. Nice!

 

Good to hear. Yeah, I figure if I can't kill anyone, I might as well sneak up to the objectives. I just got off a server and it worked for me that time. Everyone was clumping around one area, so I figured enemy must be too, and snuck around and killed three guys with one 'nade. Woo hoo! Well two went down immediately and other took a pop shot with my gun to put him out of his misery. lol. Then a sniper got wise and took me out of my misery.

We really need a vent or ts3 server though. That way anyone going to play can try to join up in the same squad. It's hard enough to get on the same server as it is. However I haven't seen anyone else with the [NBR] clan tag. It would also make it easier to join up then too.

 

Yeah the saiga feels weak but if you tap the fire button fast and unload 4 or 5 shells they will drop before they knew what happened. I have had people take me out with a handgun or rifle before they died but its rare as usually I get the drop on them.

The advantage is the mobility, no zooming in, no scope/sights you get full mobility and that means you really moving and looking around so in that deathmatch scenario your increasing your survivability alot. My K/D was like 4 with 20 kills 5 deaths.

I had some guy take me out afew times in what seemed like just 1 shot with a spas 12 from a distance, so he must have had the slug upgrade. I do not have it yet so not sure if it will make things better or worse.

It says it adds range but takes away power, and for me to lose any power sounds like more of a disadvantage than an advantage, probably also takes away the wide spread so that you hit people in those crazy situations.

Thats why the knife idea is not so hot, I cant tell you how many times I stabbed somebody and it didnt register, but the shotgun always does

 

I know people will hate me, but I am currently addicted to the Carl Gustav with the larger ammo count (x7) and improved explosions. If getting 40 kills with that in a single round earns me the noob badge, I'll wear it with pride.

 

Id think I would suck with it, because I would be shooting at stuff too far away and up close I would probably die due to the slow travel time so while i may kill one or two people with the shot I will probably die in the process.

Im getting the crash to desktop constantly now. I am not playing til it gets fixed, I can only play 2 or 3 minutes and then I crash. So lame.

 

Hmm not sure the problem, any other games crash for you?

Have you manually updated punkbuster?

Have you tried system stability testing (furmark, occt, 3dmark)

Those are some of the first things I would do if you already tried the obvious of reinstalling the game after wiping all files from the prior install. Also GPU drivers would be one of the more important things to try try different ones and make sure you do a clean install (aka drivercleaner and uninstall the old ones rather than just install new ones over the top)

 

Ya I was gunna mess around with drivers, there honestly seems to be no solution though, just a random problem for many people. I like the 10.3 drivers but I will roll back if there is gunna be issues since this is the only game im playing right now.

Ps, manually switching from DX10 to DX9 improved load times dramatically and it does not look too much worse.
