yeah i agree ive noticed much better load times since going down to DX9 and truly cant notice very much difference at all, mind you i wasn't using HBAO though

 

I cant force DX9 for some reason on the EA Downloader version it gives me a no disk error. So I am stuck with "auto" and that uses DX11.

 

Did a bit more touching up, let me know if it looks better or worse.

 

Hmm odd, im using the same game version and I can do that just fine. Although I cannot do DX11 anyways.

 

Not sure whats up then. Soon as I changed DX to "9" instead of "Auto" I could not start the game. Soon as I changed it back it worked again.

Maybe a reboot or something will fix it. Also not sure why it would change anything but I launch the game through steam as I added the BFBC2Game.exe to Steam as a non steam game.

I also had a strange behavior today, a friend of mine I made buy the game we finally got a chance to play today and we just wanted to mess around on an empty stage to hang out a bit and he could join a server on his own but every time I joined he would get kicked out right away and could not join back.

We tried like 3 different servers and in those same servers other people joined at some point and played just fine. I saw him on my friends list request 2x so wonder if its a bug.

 

This was my first PLATINUMed weapon. My first build BUT then i used LMGs and already PLATINUMed M60 and the 2 Tommy GUns. Working on L88 BUT after a bit of rest from the game.

Havent used it completely yet maybe after i also Maxed my RPG.

How many PLATINUM weapons do you guys have?

 

None for me takes forever, esp with sniper rifles.

So you still need 1000 kills to get a PLATINUM for Sniper? I thought it would be fewer like a grenade platinum or Knife.

Well, at least I never got the purple heart. LOL. I did periodically with BF2. It was 5 kills to 10 deaths ratio.

 

And I thought I died a lot...

Hmm before I realized you can designate where to spawn and realizing that the harbor/docking map is just sniper camp fest... spawning and then immediately being shot in the head by 5 snipers at the same time was freaking awesome. And then seeing 3 other teammates who spawned alongside me, and hearing a dozen sniper fire shots, watching them fall, was even more awesome.

I killed 6 and died 23 times. That's my record.

I also "missed" 500 rounds of bullets on enemy faces on that map.

 

my worst worst was i think 11:30. Although i think my ping was 800 or erratic that time and they were good players.

And my new found love, and developing skill, and if I keep it up this should be pretty good, Sniping is always fun i believe there is no shame in developing a good sniper shot.


**NOTE** On a side note I just realized that stats can't really be compared because there is actually a rather LARGE form of variance from the different game types, to the different modes, Hardcore vs normal. All of these can really hinder how to compare stats... Right????

I abhor the uncap base . Some dork is there with your tank killing everyone as soon as they spawn.

And yeah, the hit detection is a little off. Seems better on some servers than others. I'm tempted to record all my games and make a nice video collage of all my bullets to the face of people that don't die. But that'd be too much work.

 

I just gotta know, whats the biggest noob you guys have seen(aka, most gold stars on the gustav) My record is 8....as soon as an admin on the server realized this he banned him

Along with the hit detection being off, I've also noticed that ive been tying with people in shootouts WAY too much. Once a week is ok, but when im playing assault or shotgun its like every 5th death. I know they have bullet flight times but that wouldn't really come into effect in a 25ft range. Is the game trying to be nice and compensate for lag or something?

 

I was reading this Gamespy article with an interview with one of the developers and mentions that the origin of the bullet differs from other games. Might that have something to do with inconsistencies in hit detection? My experience with shooters is limited to BF, CoD, and Fo3 so I don't know how other games handle it.

I got 2 ranks today, did 3 hours of squad deathmatch same setup as yesterday Medic with lightweight and the Saiga auto shotgun. I got top player a few times, and we won every game and got top squad every game.

I was in a squad with 3 people from the same clan, but some of the other squads also had 2 or 3 people from the same clan.

So it would be great if we can get 3 or 4 of us on at a time to do squad deathmatch as well. I still to this day have not heard one person use the voice chat in game. I wonder if I even have it enabled or something lol.


I tried the force DX9 again today and this time it worked, no "insert game disk" error. My load times were better than DX11 but not considerably so and as a side effect I got bad screen tearing and some really bad texture flickering. So I changed it back to DX11. Strange thing is after doing this it seems to load faster now than before. So I wonder if my DX="auto" is now using DX9 instead of DX11 because of some DX9 settings that may have happened when I setup the game. Im loading into maps fast enough now that I have to wait for the counter to spawn. But it also maybe because the squad deathmatch maps I played today take less time to load than the huge rush/conquest stages.

Regardless I will stick with DX11 for the sake of a pretty game, its still 30fps average with 6004x1200 resolution and no tearing like DX9 gave me.

You should see the automated reply to my problem EA sent me today after I filled out a support ticket about not being able to run the game in DX9... they were like "here is the answer to your question" and linked to a article about not being able to install the game.... God help you if you every need actual help or expect them to read your ticket and do something.

 

I also tried DX9 and i got the same problems as you have. Will be going back to DX11.

Speaking of clans I am going to go ahead and add [NBR] as my clan tag to my guy. Same tag I use on Steam.

I think I will try to organize some scheduled games here soon so we can try to get a team together.

Oooooooooo just got the M95, recon has never been easier.

 

I am not a big fan of the M95 I got it and soon after started Medic since its hard to stick with a class even if you like it when you have unlocks to get with other classes. Plus I am getting 5x more points now with medic and helping the team a lot more so thats going to both get my lvl up faster and the universal perks, and also win my team more games.

The M95 is not a 1 shot kill to the body (without magnum ammo and being close) so its slower scoping and slower reload and the fact it gives away my position easier than the other 2 bolt snipers left me feeling like it was a downgrade.

I started getting a lot more headshots near the end of my sniper career so with that the GOL and M24 were better rifles, and if it comes down to body shots all 3 of them only take 2 shots to the body to kill.

I think the M95's only advantage is that it uses a totally different bullet mechanic. It uses the same mechanic as the mounted guns, meaning less bullet drop than the other 2 snipers and also it does damage to vehicles/armor. But I feel that rockets are best for that

I think the largest disappointment for me was there seems to be no penetration mechanic in this game. I can see some guy camping behind a window and unload 5 or 6 rounds with the M95 into the wall infront of the window and not hit the person at all. Its a freakin .50 cal anti material weapon and it cant go through some wood or drywall?

I dumped the M95 soon after seeing this and went back to the M24

I also have pretty much concluded the accuracy rating on the snipers is invalid, all the postings and research I found show that all the bolt snipers (other than M95) have the same accuracy and bullet drop. So why does the GOL say its more accurate than the M24? Apparently its not, but it does do 5 less damage (65 instead of 70) so thats why I changed back to the M24 as my primary sniper rifle again. When I get platinum one day with the M24 I will go back to the GOL. I was doing really well with it.

I have heard of some a small handful of people running around with the M95 and the red dot scope and doing well. Its a one shot kill up close so as long as you make that shot count its a mean combo. I tried it one round and didnt do so well but hey its different.

 

ok ..... So with that being said I'm going back to the M24.

GOL does not shake at all.

 

You mean the "drift" when aiming? it does a bit but very little. But the actually bullet accuracy is coded into the game identical for all snipers from what my research has determined.

I have not noticed any extra drift on the M24, if its there it has not really changed my ability with the rifle. Also the M24 is every so slightly faster between shots (not enough to matter)

That dude in that Youtube video must be on some sparse filled servers because I'd be flanked and killed within seconds. I mean a half dozen players running AWAY from him and none turn around to try to kill him? I'll have to try the M95 and see if it is truly that powerful.

It's like they are playing against "retard" bots.

On that map, if I stand and move for more than 5 seconds I get shot in the head. This dude is just climbing over the hill a dude runs buy and doesn't even try to shoot him, another dude is just crouching there, apparently deaf and can't hear him running and stomping all over the place. When I played that map, I always had to figure out where my next move is, hustle over, crouch behind something. I don't like this video at all.

This video can't be real. He's standing in the middle of the road and taking aim. I would be dead if I did that. This video has to be staged. Hey guys lets make a video where one of look awesome. Ok rest of you have to be morons and don't try to shoot him. Just stand around and let him take aim to your head, nice and easy.

hahahah well put! That's good math from what I can tell! I'm going to have to start using it soon though because I want to get stars/points for it, but I'm going to try to avoid using it like a shotgun.

On another note, sqadded up with Osco last night and had a blast! I think we could do some real damage if we had a squad full of NBR guys.... I won't really have any time until atleast the 19th (going to Cuba!) of this month, but I really think we should set something up. I might have to go buy myself a mic now and get setup on Vent/TS.

I snuck into enemy terriory and went undetected in Nelson Bay. Fell into a nest of baddies huddle behind a nice ledge and knifed 8 people before they even took notice of me... I musta just blended in with that large group of people. I guess it makes sense because when 6+ people all pile in one single place you can't tell who is who. The fun eventually ended after the corpses started to pile up and they took notice that someone (me) wasn't supposed to be there. I am kicking myself for not having FRAPS running as it was rather hilarious.

 

Easiest to blend in as a recon.

 

reminded me of a picture I took at the Renaissance Festival this year, there was this "plant guy" and I just realized thats almost like what recon looks like in the game.
