i would probably deduct 2-300MB of that RAM amount as OS resources.

started running my copy of the game on Sunday, picked up a 970 and was sent a code within a couple hours.
Running on an alienware 17r2 (4710HQ, 980M) it runs smooth and looks fine but will not pass 30 fps (thought this was suppose to be fixed?). Running a benchmark in game, I get a max FPS of 72 and a min of 45. Continue back to the game, and 30 fps is locked. Checked all settings, and frames are not limited in anyway.
Running the game on my UWS through the graphics amp with a 970 attached made no difference here (Though it made differences in witcher 3 and GTAV by comparison). Guess it'll be a waiting game still. -

No need to wait for a future patch. Start testing tweaks now, as whatever they do with a patch is going to have to work for the lowest common denominator in PC specs. You can apply what you learn/figure out to the next patch rather than relying on the "one size fits all" approach to gaming that seems to be the status quo.
These modified INI settings (attached below) are working well for me. I found in one of them that hardware PhysX support was disabled, LOL. Compare these to yours. Remember to change the properties of the modded INI files to read-only so the game cannot "update" them. These settings raised my minimum FPS, dropped the average and max a little bit, but overall less fluctuation in framerate and improved graphics quality. As an example, look at the FPS in the "burnout" screen shot (middle thumbnail) where it often drops.

Game is running well for me as well, turned off Blur after the previous patch, upped AF to 16x. Fun game. -
I play this without overlay but had HWinfo running today, after an hour with max fans max temp on my CPU was 93C . All other games stay below 80C but this really hammers it.
-
Cpu temp 93C?
Wow.. -
Being a long time first-person shooter fan from long before XBOX or Playstation were invented, (yes, I am an old dude, and I hate consoles,) I normally play exclusively with keyboard and mouse and generally despise using a gamepad. But, I got stuck in the Riddler's challenge and in the Road Rage challenge (both involve driving the Batmobile) where I could not make any progress. Grabbed my wireless XBOX controller and boom... finished the Riddler's obstacle course on the first try and took out two extra armored cars on the first try in the Road Rage challenge, LOL. I don't play driving games that much, but I should have already known this.
-
And I agree, I refuse to play most games on consoles simply because of the controller, but for third person games (Batman, Witcher 3 etc) IMHO a controller can't be beat... first person shooter, I simply flat won't play with one, but a controller does have it's place elsewhere. Of course, in games like GTA V, I then end up using a controller for all gameplay except when I need to grab the mouse and target accurately... each has it's place for sure. -
@Mr. Fox using your ini files, FPS are higher (as high as over 100 FPS to 55 FPS) and game is playing ok for me. Sometimes though I notice that Batman is standing in the rain and he looks dry as a bone (all the eye candy is maxed). I actually had to stop playing because I got a hand cramp ( I need a gun). Combined with your files, and 353.38 driver I'm getting higher FPS. I do notice that for me the game will stutter for split second, this has happened ever since I installed the 353.38 driver and the game did crash once. @ Mr Najsman I just finished playing 4hrs CPU temp never got over 70c, GPU less then that maybe time to repaste?

most likely the rain effects weren't there as they just recently patched that back in.
EDIT: Oh man, spending too much time on this and already 83.6% before finishing the game (i haven't downloaded the pre-order DLC and PS4 exclusive DLC.Last edited: Jul 1, 2015 -
Kade Storm The Devil's Advocate
The rain effects are there, but they only work properly on new saves and in the first game session. The moment one quits and returns, the rain shader gets parred back to minimal, which also includes the damage on the batsuit. I have tested this issue extensively and the only solution I've found for this is to either start a new game, or play through without quitting, both being rather absurd. It's patch-related and we have to wait for further updates for the rain shaders to work properly. In the meantime, have a look at the following Steam thread where this matter was discussed.

Sure I´m recording but OBS isn´t that taxing. I´ll have to test some more and see whats up. -

I think the title introduces the article well. -
I have looked into my high CPU temp before, turns out it´s OBS that´s causing it.
All tests are with stock clocks, undervolt -70/0 and max fans. I ran twice without recording and got max temps 76C and twice recording with OBS and got max temps 88C. Once I even crashed after 10 minutes and XTU was reset.
Take a look at the graphs. OBS is really hammering the CPU, I had no idea it was that taxing:

apparently SSDs are better for this game as I haven't seen any fps drops at 30fps. i think it's playable at 30fps but that's my opinion....60 is more preferable.

the rain effects are there but seems to be less dense after restarting the game from a save point or cold from the desktop, a minor annoyance than anything else. i do notice rain dripping on the cape and suit but you'd need to look super close.
with patch 1, my 980M's temps are well below 60 deg C and sometimes will clock between 1038 and 1260 but will mostly stay at 1260.
seeing this is the first of many interim patches i think it'll be a few months before it will be more playable.Mr. Fox likes this. -

Patch 1 made it ok but not great.
EDIT: some of the militia soldiers have really low res textures like it was a delay or something. using mr. fox's inis.Last edited: Jul 1, 2015 -
I tried to play the Harlan Quinn DLC, and after she beats up the cops and walks through a door I can no longer control her.
She just stands there dead in her tracks, at first I thought my control went dead, but no it was the game-BAH.
I cloned the drive that had all my Steam games, and I noticed the stutter no longer appears. The game is playing very smoothly. So, BOO Harley, yeah SSD. -
I noticed that using RTSS will break when interactive fog and debris is enabled. With those enabled it doesn't show the OSD stats nor give me access to the steam overlay so I may as well just disable RTSS and the steam overlay.

@Mr. Fox Well I was going to test your .ini with my laptop until the game started to have a rave party and cause issues.
May run it later, but sadly, I don't like the response the game just gave me. May be because I'm running multiple programs and monitors. -
When is this game supposed to be available for purchase again? I'd like to buy it.
Hopefully they'll have it on sale, considering the issues.Last edited: Jul 2, 2015 -

@Mr. Fox Finally got around testing your .ini files, and I saw an improvement with my framerates. Of course, I only did the benchmark, but things did look smoother, so I suspect in game motion would be smooth as well. No Interactive stuff, but using my laptop + GTX 960. Same settings as I did earlier in the thread.
Without tweaks: 28 49 71? (Min Avg Max FPS)
With Tweaks: 38 52 74 (Min Avg Max FPS)
It also could have been that I'm using an SSD for the game's location, but even then, my HDD wasn't rough in the benchmark.Mr. Fox likes this. -
would be nice if the textures were fixed!
-
I had to remove Mr. Fox's ini files. I was on the 2nd Stagg airship and game started freezing and crashing. It got to the point where it would no longer launch-black screen hard reset. Tried other games in steam library-no problems. When I restored my original ini files from old, game launched and works no problems. FPS @solid 58. IDK what happened but that was my experience.

I suspect they will fix it. Batman: Arkham Knight looking better on a PS4 is just a fluke and an anomaly. Stooping to the level of gaming on a console will never be a good option as far as I am concerned. This is just an example of poor execution, and nothing more. As a matter of principle, I think I would probably just abandon gaming altogether rather than use a console. I'm proud to be a haughty and arrogant PC elitist, so that's beneath me and I just won't go there.

I'm not sure how this happened since I only know fullscreen affected gameplay, but I'm sure a lot of Optimus and Enduro users won't be happy about this. If any Optimus / Enduro user needs help with this, here are some steps to do. This is only after you created a game file.
- Open the first created game file.
- Click on the down arrow 5 times or 7 times if you have the challenges and the option below it available. This should bring you to Options. Press Enter.
- Click on the down arrow twice. This should bring you the the Graphics Options. Press enter.
- The default mode should be fullscreen, so click left arrow and press backspace.

need the precise instructions to get RTSS to run in AK.
Mr. Fox likes this. -
- Click the "+" sign to create a new profile
- Browse to the executable and select it
- Open the new RTSS configuration file in Notepad
- Add "Enable=0" under [RenderDirect3D10]*
- Select the new RTSS profile
- Confirm OSD is turned on
*Thanks to @j95 for the tweak.
-
i know disabling RTSS will allow the steam overlay to work though i feel that the steam overlay just adds to the stutter so i might disable it to test.
-
Steam overlay doesn't work for me since the patch... with or without RTSS running. Maybe whatever NVIDIA did to the BatmanAK game profile to make SLI work busted something. I don't really care that much. I never use it for anything other than to upload a screen shot to my Steam profile, and that is only once in a blue moon. I have no use for it otherwise, and normally have it disabled globally. I only temporarily enable it when I am in a screen shot uploading mood. I'm using FRAPS for screen shots and in-game benching, otherwise I would not be using FRAPS either.
-
the steam overlay worked for me once i disabled the fog and debris settings and turned off RTSS....bleh RTSS worked without cfg editing just by disabling the fog and debris settings. no idea why but this RTSS cfg edit worked nicely - time to add update my OSD.
EDIT: not sure what to make of this:

potentially a new patch? -
Perhaps, but if so it is an undocumented one at this point. The only one I can see is June 27.

The game seems to run a lot better if you use an SSD, maybe that's why it runs better on your Desktop. -
i seem to get some micro freezing on an HDD.
